The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

My last meal? I would have my Sicilian mom come down from the heavens and cook for me her very simple pasta sauce using fresh sun-ripened tomatoes and basil from the yard... If may grandfather would join her it would be nice to include a couple bottles of his home-made strong Zinfindel... Also my northern Italian grandmother's frittau, sweet pumpkin fritters sprinkled with powdered sugar. Well, not to upset the other women in the family I'd invite them all down so as to cook their famous sweet and savory dishes. I'd most surly approach the Pearly Gates happy and with grand indigestion.

[...] Lorraine from Not Quite Nigella serves these pancakes with a strawberry jam she makes called Three Day Strawberry Jam because exactly that, it that takes three days to make. Because we’re not that patient and we wanted our pancakes NOW and because I was given an enormous bottle of maple syrup in my Christmas stocking, we served them with the Canadian import.
My daughter is applying for a job in NYC and they require that the applicant provide the name of the winner of "The Banana Bread Bake-Off". I'm not sure if they are referring to your contest or their own but thought that if she provided both answers they would applaud her tenacious research.

Thanks in advance and I love your site/blog whatever its called.

Dear NQN,

Should you ever find yourself in the Newscastle area might I suggest you drop by a recently opened husband-and-wife start-up For a sneak peak: http://subo.com.au

I am off to Paris next month and want to visit poilane's bakery. Your blog about your visit was helpful. I have been experimenting with sourdough reads-my first try at a poilane loaf is proofing by the aga.
