On a sunny day when it seemed every car wanted to cross the Harbour Bridge from the North to the East, and the sun shone brightly and the wind blew a little too enthusiastically, a picnic spread was laid out in scenic Centennial Park. Getting there at 12pm seemed to be the trick as there were many tables free, by 1pm all tables had filled.
Rugs are unfurled on the grass nearby for a post lunch lie down and bags and containers unpacked. There are lots of dips, crackers, cheeses and breads as well as noodles (vegetarian and meat), salad, pickles, pastrami, Korvapuusti (Finnish cinammon pastries), Finncrisp (Finnish Crispbread) and Papaya & Coconut cupcakes.
A long leisurely lunch, good company and a Happy Dance says it all.

We had some Finnish friends when I was growing up and they used to make “pulla” (I am sure that I haven’t spelled that correctly), but I wanted to find out if that is the same or similar to Korvapuusti (Finnish cinnamon pastries)? As I remember that they used to be rolled similarly to the Korvapuusti. Or perhaps it is depends on the region you are from? Many thanks. Mmmm-Cinnamon.
Hi LuluChoux-My Mother in law and her sister talk about Pulla (yes you spelt it correctly
)! I don’t think I’ve tried it (yet) though. His aunt has a great cookbook in Finnish where it goes through the different regional shapes of this one type of “rice pie”. Very cool! 
Uh huh! I was wondering about pulla. Just seeing the photo above made me remember it, and I have always had a soft spot for cinnamon. Interesting that there are different shapes too. Thanks for your help. I should try and make some soon. You’re an inspiration!

Hi Paul-Thanks! My only dumpling recipe is for the pork ones which aren’t quite as interesting as the others that one can get. But I will get around to making some more soon and will definitely post the recipe
