Iron Chef Dinner 2007 Observatory Hotel

Observatory hotel email

**NEWSFLASH ** Due to generosity of the Australian Macadamias, I have won two tickets to the the Iron Chef dinner plus $1000 spending money! Words cannot express how deliriously happy I am at the moment. It must be fate, I was only today cracking open some roasted and salted macadamias! I cannot thank Australian Macadamias enough! :)

I cannot wait to blog about this! *happy dance*

Its time for the Iron Chef’s Sydney visit again! I don’t often have a spare $1000 lying around to attend these events so my sister and I improvised and went to Tokyo on Frequent Flyer points to visit the Iron Chef restaurants La Rochelle and Kaishoku Michiba earlier this year. It doesn’t stop me getting excited that they are coming here though and I got this in my inbox the other day. I’d love to hear from anyone who has been to any of these events. I’ve had the degustation at the Observatory before but never the Iron Chef dinner! Its actually a lifelong dream of mine to be on the Iron Chef judging panel-one that I know probably won’t eventuate but a girl can dream can’t they? And this is the next best thing really!

The culinary genius of two of televisions Iron Chef’s Hiroyuki Sakai and Chen Kenichi together with chef Haru Inukai will be showcased in this unique dining event.

Over three nights in November, Galileo’s guests will be treated to an insider’s view of the kitchen. Cameras will capture every moment as Sakai, Kenichi and Inukai create dishes reflecting their passion for Japanese and Schechuan cuisine as well as traditional French cooking techniques.

given the weak yen and the fact that it costs less than AUD$495 to dine at ALL THREE iron chef restaurants, i think it’s probably worth saving up for a trip to japan.

plus, the observatory degustation was quite ordinary last time we went(although the service was excellent).

Hi Popeye-Sakai’s cooking is exquisite. I’ll post about my adventures in his gorgeous restaurant soon!

Hi Miss K-That’s great timing-don’t give up dropping hints! You never know :)

Hi Blythe-Yes the Observatory degustation left me a bit hungry. Plus a trip to Japan is more scenic!

Hi Helen-Thanks! Yes I am was so delighted when they called me to let me know I was jumping up and down like a mad woman

We’re bringing two cameras just in case something happens to one of them, you can’t be too careful and its a once in a lifetime kind of thing. Will definitely blog it in great (ie excruciating) detail :)

I just had to say hello! I’ve stumbled across your lovely blog and found that we have so much in common. But more importantly, I’m going to the Iron Chef dinner too!! I am SO EXCITED. Unfortunately, we had to pay for our tickets, but I’m a big enough fan to be able to deal with that. (Some retail sacrifices will need to be made.) Especially when I found out that we would be sharing the same air as TWO Iron Chefs! And apparently this is going to be the last one of these at Galileo ever. How lucky are we?!

Hi Angela-Hello! Oh wow, that’s fantastic, which night are you going to? We’re going to the Wednesday night one. I didn’t realise that this was going to the last one-we are SO lucky! :D

No way - we’re going to the Wednesday one too! We’re also bringing two cameras. Are you dressing up? I’m torn between looking nice and having an elasticised waist.

Hey, and congratulations on winning that competition. You seem like a very deserving winner! I’ve always wondered what it takes to win those things. What did you say in your 25-word winning entry?

Hi Angela-Wow cool! I’m definitely going to dress up but nothing too tight as I want to make sure I have room for everything

Thanks so much! With the Aust Macadamias Iron Chef competition, you could enter once a day so I entered on quite a few days so I don’t know which was the winning entry but it reeeally helps that you could enter more than once :)

Hi everyone - I missed out on tickets for the event but was told this moring that Galileo will be offering the exact menu that the Iron Chefs produce on the night - for the whole of November! I called and booked today and it costs $160 per person but not including drinks. Yippee! The Observatory even have one of Sakai’s previous head chefs full time now! :)

Hi Sune-that’s great to know. I’m sure a lot of people would be happy to pay $160 for it. Do you know what the dishes will be?
