The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Hi Bec-Wow, you literally read my mind! We went to Rahmen Genki last night and will post on it next week (don't want to overload everyone on ramen lol). My husband and I did a tally and in order of preference I preferred:
1. Ryo's 2. Genki 3. Kenta but mainly because the pork Katsu curry was really nice at Genki. His order was: 1. Ryo's 2. Kenta and 3. Genki as Kenta is cheaper than Genki. But Ryo's noodles still are #1 :)

Hi Jimmy-you've got it in one! :) That's what the texture is like. I love those friend taro balls. In fact taro anything is good to me, have you tried the taro sponge cake at Savoy? I've had that cake for a few birthdays.

Hi Kathy-sounds like a good excuse to visit Sydney doesn't it! I'm sure B would love to relive some Japanese Ramen memories too ;)

mmm that katsu don looks good, it reminds me of the fried taro that you get in chinese restraunts, i'd assume the texture would be the same, slightly soggy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside

have you tried genki in artarmon yet? it's on the plaza that flows off from artarmon station. i'd like to see how you think it shapes up in comparison to the other ones you've tried :)
