The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Hi susannah-That's great to hear! I think the $30 per head is much better than a la carte, even if there isn't a particularly large table. Next time we go, we'll probably opt for that. Its a bonus that it gave your sous chef friend inspiration too! :)

NQN,

I visited Samurai on Friday night and can only concur that the food is as good as you describe with words and pictures. We had 11 people and opted for the $30 per head, they would bring us what ever they wanted.

We had so much food, and it was all fantastic!

One in our group is a Sous chef and the beef wrapped asparagus blew her away for its originality! I'm sure it will be on her menu shortly ;)

Hi Susan-I agree Okonomiyaki is hard to find at restaurants, especially good Okonomiyaki. I'm still a bit floored at the prices too. The salmon sashimi in particular at $9 is amazing (I buy it from Costis for about the same price :o )

Hi Kathy-thanks! :) The photos are all my husband's doing, he's a great photog and he's using a great camera (which we've kindly borrowed from his brother). And we tried taking a pic of McDonalds the other night but it wasn't so exciting

Hi Jobe-could it be that Balmain is the foodie hub of Sydney? I say yes based on these two places

Hi Sheb-I haven't tried Kobe Jones's tuna tataki but I think if you like KJ's food, you'll really like this. The sauce is quite unusual, like KJ's sauces :)

Hi Popeye-definitely, a big bowl of noodles and soup are great to fill hungry tummies!
