The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Luckily we live just a few minutes drive from The Upper Crust, and make it a weekend occasion to have Saturday or Sunday lunch there. The favorite of our household is the Spinach & Fetta Pie. It is Divine! Lovely spinach and couscous in the inside, melted cheese, and big chunks of pumpkin and fetta on the top. I also second umaas raves about the roast veggie - absolutely wonderful, and a good second choice when we miss out on the spinach & fetta ones.

I went here the other day - had the chicken and cream pie and a sausage roll.

It was so incredibly disappointing. The cream sauce with the chicken tasted like flour and was coarse and grainy with too much white pepper.

The sausage rolls had an off flavoured meat which they were trying to cover up with loads of garlic and onion.

One of the most disappointing and expensive pie experiences I've had. If you want a good pie try Simmone Logue or Pattison's Patisserie. Much better quality and taste, and even less expensive.

Best pies in Sydney, apparantly made fresh daily. You were unlucky with the cheese and bacon roll, I love it. It has chunks of cooked bacon in it. Thai beef is my fav!

My first couple of Upper Crust pies failed to hit the mark for me, and I was disappointed after all the talking up from my mates. A week or so ago I stopped by and picked up the roast vegie one. WOW. umaa sums it up nicely.

And the breakie pie, trick is to get there before 10am, so the egg is still runny!

Hi kate-Oh yes I know the Fredo's pies! They're great and we'd always stop by on the drive to Coffs Harbour. Love their unusual fillings too :)

These pies are honestly the best pies i have ever tasted. You must try the vegetarian sweet curry! I'm obsessed with pies and have tasted different ones all over Australia and nothing compares! The next best pies are in Frederickton NSW (freddos pies) and theres also a bakery in Jindabyne NSW who also do great pies.

I love these pies! They are the most amazing thing in the world and one of my most missed items from Australia.
Truly a National Treasure.
I wish we had something half as good here in Canada.

Hi umaa-Looks like I should have chosen that one! I think I just baulked at $7.50 for a vege pie where I could get a meat one for the same prices. They seem to have different sizes for different pies, I'm not sure why.
