The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

I cannot understand how 400ml of milk can give the right consistency. With that amount of milk I can almost pour the mix! I've tried to reduce the milk quantity by 10% and it is still far too soft and impossible to roll out. My daughter has also tried with the same result. Can anyone shed light on this problem?

Hi Lorraine, Great blog you have here. I recently made these but halved Nigella's recipe, fumbled a little during the oven stage but end result was good. Will follow the 'full' recipe in future!

Hi Nigella

I watch your shows often on our Asian Food Channel and enjoy them alot. I have tried many recipes on Cinnamon raisin buns and the like but they always seem a tad rubber(?) and dry after a day. I don't overbake them and yet the result is not what I hope for. Sheesh!! May I enquire what flour you use in the above recipe.? I have used plain flour as well as high protein flour as we call it here for making bread dough. Would be so grateful for your advice. THanks a Bunch!

I absolutely adore this recipe, though the first time I made them I added a tablespoon or two of some creme de noisette - sort of hazelnutty honey-stuff - we'd brought back from France to the filling, and since then I can't make them without adding a little honey or something similar. I'm sure it's not authentically Norwegian but is is lovely :)
