Bear vanilla and sesame cupcakes

In a practical sense, I wanted to differentiate the vanilla custard filled vanilla & sesame cupcakes from those filled with green tea custard. So what better way aside from sticking your finger inside (so lacking decorum but fun) than to give the cupcake an entirely different look. So instead of Pandas to signify the Green tea custard, I used Bears to signify Vanilla. I do realise that a filling such as honey would have been more appropriate but I had to work with what I had. So using the same directions as on my Panda cupcakes with some rejigging of the decorations (described in the story), I present my family of Bears. A Sesame bean with vanilla bean custard filling, just in time for the April Master Baker challenge!

    Hi Steph-I’m so glad you noticed that they were heart shaped! :) I was going to make little round pink noses but when in doubt, go with a heart! :lol:

    These are very cute too! Were they moist cupcakes and did your husband like these? I had one of my questions answered (reading the other comments and answers) – re: sourcing the lovely paper baking cups you use. For some reason, these cups make the cupcakes look more delicious than the crinkle-variety cups!

    Hi Maria-He really liked them as they were mostly custard-I wanted to make them like a beard papa or puffy puff and knew he’d like that :lol: Yes the paper cups are very sought after-pity they’re so hard to find!

    Thanks for the tip about where to find the baking cups. The web address you provided was perfect as they sell and deliver online and are in melbourne city where my husband works, so if I need something in a hurry, I just get him to go in and pick it up. Will let you know how the cupcakes I’m making turn out after my daughter’s 6th birthday party with her friends (6 & 7 year olds are the toughest critics). Fingers crossed all goes well. Is there anyway I can send a photo for you to see?

    hi nqn, i read somewhere on one of your posts that you get those souffle cups from kent paper. are they deemed suitable for baking in? i’ve read that the wilton ones shouldn’t be used for baking purposes.

    Hi tujy-I have heard of the Wilton ones being unsafe recently and I would assume these might be unsafe too. What a shame! :(
