The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

[...] For those overseas readers, the RSPCA is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and they also have a television show which will make an animal lover out of the the most hardened individual. It even got me feeling warm and fuzzy towards family of bats. Today is the RSPCA’s Cupcake Day where keen bakers all over Australia bake cupcakes and raise money for the RSPCA. I decided on koalas a while back and thought that instead of a plain vanilla cupcake I’d use Lemon Myrtle just to upp the Australian-ness of it. The idea for these came from Clare Crespo’s Hey There, Cupcake! from which I’ve used many of her decorating suggestions for example, the panda and bear cupcakes. [...]

Hi tujy-I have heard of the Wilton ones being unsafe recently and I would assume these might be unsafe too. What a shame! :(

Thanks for the tip about where to find the baking cups. The web address you provided was perfect as they sell and deliver online and are in melbourne city where my husband works, so if I need something in a hurry, I just get him to go in and pick it up. Will let you know how the cupcakes I'm making turn out after my daughter's 6th birthday party with her friends (6 & 7 year olds are the toughest critics). Fingers crossed all goes well. Is there anyway I can send a photo for you to see?

Hi Maria-He really liked them as they were mostly custard-I wanted to make them like a beard papa or puffy puff and knew he'd like that  Yes the paper cups are very sought after-pity they're so hard to find!

These are very cute too! Were they moist cupcakes and did your husband like these? I had one of my questions answered (reading the other comments and answers) - re: sourcing the lovely paper baking cups you use. For some reason, these cups make the cupcakes look more delicious than the crinkle-variety cups!
