The slightly eccentric eating and cooking adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

If you're in Kingsford often, try In Chan Thai (2 mins. walk from Tea Inn)! One of the best Thais ever. My bf and I go almost every week without fail and we've been going for 2 years (ever since our late uni days).

Lorraine - we usually sit up the back, which is away from the only drawback to the place, a TV screen showing video clips. Can be a handy distraction for children though.

Zenya only opened a few months ago and already it's gotten to the state that people are waiting for them to open at 6pm (on Saturdays at least) and waiting for tables by 7:00pm.

Hi Y-Yep it's true, you could easily eat out every night for weeks and not repeat the experience nor dent the wallet.

Hi popeye-It's funny how some unis have different sorts of food around then. The theme around UNSW is definitely Indonesian :) My husband loves those bubble tea drinks too!

Hi Zam-Never fear NQN will adhere to your request! :D Actually I am housesitting at the moment so I am planning to do more Eastern Suburbs places while I am in the area ;)

Hi SydneyGal-Yes I had a chuckle at the "fast food" -it was fast but it was pretty far away from McDonalds.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! So which one is your table so I will not sit there? ;) I always love a crowded place, it speaks volumes about the food!

Hi grace-you can find it at most asian grocery stores. I love it but some people find it a bit odd. Do you like sweet beans or asian sweets? If you do then you'll like it, if not, you might be a bit bewildered at it's appeal :)

I did make it, thanks for asking! Because I cannot sacrifice my hair for food. Bad hair=bad day

Hi Maria-Sa Cha Beef was a real please everyone kind of dish. Oh yes I loathe the 90% batter 10% meat. I always think that is a sign of a place that cuts corners. They didn't seem to cut corners with other things though which was a bit baffling.

Hmmm you have an eagle eye, I didn't even notice that-although the size of the menu had me a bit stunned!

I did, thankyou very much! :D

I think I'd really enjoy that Sa Cha Beef - the meat is even tender in appearance.. it's what I'm in the mood for I think :)

I'm all too familiar with the batter dish that comes disguised as a chicken dish ;)

I was a bit fascinated with the Fried Drumstick Spaghetti on the menu!

Economical dining! I hope you enjoyed the beauty appointment afterwards :-)

I love how this place is called "Fast Food and takeaway". Not exactly what we'd usually refer to as "fast food" - look at the vegies in that soup and the beef dish!

Lorraine - I've just had dinner at a little Japanese place in Eastwood called Zenya. It's about the fifth time in two months I've gone there - the ramen is fabulous, total comfort food. Go early at 6pm or you'll have to wait for a table (and this is in Eastwood, which is wall-to-wall Asian restaurants). Highly highly recommend (just don't take my table, if it gets more crowded I'll have to wait!)
