The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Sigh!! i bet that pain perdue was totally delicious! I've been to the BBC good food show, that was a couple of years back as well, and saw GR there but in no way was my encounter with him as fabulous as yours. I was stuck behind a whole bunch of people clicking away really bad photos of the massive screen on which he was projected :(

Hope you have a fab time in Tokyo! Is that where you lived? Loved hearing about the Good Food Show and your encounter with Gordon. When I saw him a couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to wangle one of his books (well, M was only a couple of weeks old and she turned on the charm!). After the show I queued for over an hour to get it signed, but then security decided that the end of the queue would end with the person in front of me! I was sooooo mad!! Yeah, he's pretty mean about the other celeb chefs, he had a real dig at our beloved Nigella when I saw him... still, all is forgiven when he glances your way! Yoi tabi o xxx

[...] Gordon Ramsay once said that his Royal Hospital Road is his pride and joy, if all goes bottoms up then he always has that baby. Only open Monday to Friday it’s also the hardest place to get a table, and at up to £120 a meal for just lunch, the costliest of his restaurants. To secure a coveted table one needs to ring exactly one month in advance, and to secure the table give them your credit card details and should you not show, they can at their discretion, deduct £100 per person for the meal missed. It’s all phrased very courteously but you get the feeling that they wouldn’t hesitate in doing so. [...]
