The slightly eccentric eating and cooking adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

I've been going to the NEW Dong Dong for years ... so it's not actually so new anymore, but it does have fantastic food (and they are always willing to modify things for my plain/non-chili tastes). Not to mention the copious amount of leftovers serve nicely as lunch the next day!

And lol at your husband mentioning that Gordon would makeover the size of their menu.. because my hubby and I now make comments like this too. "Gordon would do this.. or Gordon wouldn't stand for that"..hehe.. We are even conscious of the size of menu's now too! ;) The world according to Gordon!! ;)

This establishment has a funny name.. I wonder what it really means? :P

Hi grace-Hehe I always have my husband on hand to eat anything leftover! he's very useful that way!

Hi j_s2003-Cool, that's great to hear! :) Kingsford Chinese always seems busy although we didn't quite make it there. Maybe another time and crowds are usually a good indication of the quality. How did you find the food?

Hi Maria-Yep nothing like crispy skinned duck. Mmmm I could go for some now! It's a good idea to ask for it on a side plate, I don't think they'd mind :)

+1 for the tomato rice.
You're right about the duck being submerged in soup. I love the crunchy skin and if I were brave enough, I would ask for it on a side place!

Hey NQN! First post here but I enjoy your blog and Vogue post. Were you here last night? I don't live in the East but went to Kingsford Chinese restaurant for dinner last night (Sat) which is right next to Dong Dong! Small world!!! I actually wondered if you had ever been to either restaurant!

i'm almost always a member of the clean plate club, never needing a take-home box. however, like ya'll, i'd probably have trouble eating all that deliciousness in one sitting. :)

Hi Isla-The tomato rice and chicken was definitely my favourite of the night, and I don't usually eat a lot of rice (it makes me feel full too quickly  )
