The slightly eccentric eating and cooking adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

I recently went to this restaurant and was appalled to hear that my friend was insulting and told she wasn't a good mother and was not welcome at the club again because her 2 year old child took some phamplets and was playing with them on the floor. She was put them back when a rude Austrian woman that works there told her that she was "a bad mother" because her child had removed the pamplets. I can not believe that an establishment such as this is employing such rude staff and upset my friend. We had over 20 people at a birthday party and any good will that was created was quickly distroyed by that remark.

Hi blythe-For me, the roast pork was really the standout of the house platter so I think I would have to order the roast pork by itself. Definitely the more the merrier for that!

Hi Y-I know, so glad that it looked authentic! Haha well he gets dragged out a lot, although he prefers to stay at home.

Hi grace-You know that's funny, I don't think I've had schnitzel with noodles. Although you'd suppose that they'd know! ;)

Hi Maria-How interesting! Do you all have different citizenship?

Hehe Enjo glove! You do the  sign with : lol : (no spaces).

Wow, that is so cheap for your Hungarian club. Do you go there often and is it very close to what you had at home?

I think I just assumed people ate different things in the seasons like we do here, so it's interesting to hear that they don't, especially in climates that get so cold!

You're welcome! :)

My two younger sisters and I were all born in different countries. The middle sister was born in Austria.. but only long enough for the birth. We were on our way to Australia. My sister craves to go to Austria, her birthplace, so I hope that comes true for her one day.

Picture #2, I note the wall hanging thingy looks like it has an ENJO glove wedged behind it.. (how does one make that laughing symbol where the lips move?.. I'm not up to par with my smiley's).. anyway.. Lol!

We have a Hungarian club that friends of late parents run and this place reminds me of there. The food isn't that expensive though. (Meat laden) mains are around $7-$8.

The food in this post just looks wonderful and yes, reminiscent of my childhood my background - Austria bordering Hungary and such.

I can also identify with the summer food being served cold.. I never liked it as a child and felt we were a prehistoric and totally boring family when my friends were having BBQ's and salads. We adopted more Aussie ways of eating/living later on.. but yeah.. brekky was sometimes leftover dinner, cold from the night before!

I think my hubby would love that steak with all of the onions especially.

Thanks for sharing Lorraine :)

my only knowledge of schnitzel comes from the song "my favorite things" from the sound of music, and in it she says "schnitzel with noodles," NOT "schnitzel with sauce." so that setttles that. :)
meanwhile, that apple strudel is to die for.
