The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Just a note to inform you that the email address for the restaurant might be wrong. It bounced back this end. I will be eating there on Monday Night.

Hi Maria-Me too!

I always do that too when I see menus! It was more like diced potatoes with a little oil as dressing, not the creamy mayo type sauce.

It was surprisingly good and almost everyone loved their meals :)

Assman's comment gave me a headache..

lol..

Anyway.. I looked at the blackboard menu to see what I'd pick and I almost went for the chicken tandoori.. but chose the salmon.

I was happy that someone chose it so I could see it for myself.

The potato salad looked different than I imagined. Just like some small cubes of fried potato in garnish proportions.. am I wrong there? I'd be curious to know about the dressing.

I liked the menu allround though! Glad you and your hubby liked what you chose! :)

Hi grace-Haha I love anywhere that makes you carry chocolate.

How cool is the sign? I had to stop by the next day to get a photo of them. We also saw Wombat crossing signs in another area. I'd love a 4 tiered sign: Emu, Kangaroo, Koala and Wombat!

Hi belle-You're so brave doing snowboarding! I agree food is great there although I think the clear air and amount of exercise has a lot to do with it too :)

Hi Assman-Do you think that she would eat fish if there was a viable plant alternative? She was a lifelong vegetarian.

Also I think you should read the story more carefully, it is Tasmanian salmon. It's not fish meal, it's not farmed in NSW, and it's not transported from America.

The Porcini Risotto was nice but the tapas was surprisingly massive and delicious! There is no need to eat fish for health reasons. As plant based alternatives are readily available.Fish from farms usually contain pesticides, antibiotics & colourant. Farmed salmon in NSW are fed commercially cought fish and produce less protein than they are fed. In Australia fish meal comes largely from America, transporting the fish meal to AUS is not good for the planet. The health of fish that comes from America is uncertain. Eating wild fish would be better in many ways than eating farmed fish. Great story NQN I'm looking forward to the next one!

Since cracking my coccyx while snowboarding a few years ago, I think that the best thing about going to the snow is the food! And if the restaurant has a fireplace, even better. The food is surprisingly good at places like Thredbo (Credo), and Jindabyne has some nice pieshops.
