Hi KatyBelle-I wore thermals under my jeans and was still cold and I think it was -3 degrees. I don’t know if I could handle any colder But I think you’re right, you do get used to it. My Canadian friend used to be fine in the snow but after living here really feels the cold when she goes back home.

Sounds good, I have heard that about skiing in Canada!

Now, if you’re getting into downhill skiing, then you definitely SHOULD come to Canada! BC and Alberta have great slopes! You’ll just have to bundle up!

I’m not much of a skier although it turns out that we first started on cross country which is the hardest type so perhaps we should have tried an easier type (downhill).

Interesting, do you find that you lean back a lot? I do when skiing which was not good as you’re supposed to lean forward and others said that waterskiing would be good for me as you need to lean back. Sorry to hear that you found it traumatic

We do get along well and love going on holiday together which is really quite nice

I have water skiied and snow skiied in my life.. I’m hopeless in the snow..and found it to be a traumatic experience but I was able to conquer and enjoy the skill on water.

It’s encouraging to read that there are extended families who holiday together and enjoy themselves.

I have a non-alcoholic mulled wine that I brew up at parties, made on a base of dark grape juice. The recipe can be found on my blog this year, for the Winter Solstice on the 21st June – it’s called “Sanguina”.

I recently made it for my 17-year-old God-daughter’s birthday party and it was a resounding success with the teenagers who pronounced it a very sophisticated drink! (high praise coming from some of the world’s most ‘honest’ critics!)

I’m going to bookmark the wine recipe, my friends and I love mulled wine, and this one looks like a nice change from the French recipe we usually use.
