The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

My brother put me on to this recipe, thanks it is delicious. I made two versions. The one here - guilt free, and the guilty one with a chocolate ganache topping!!! My husband says the latter is the best thing he has ever tasted in his life. Thanks again. And oh yeah I used navels and they were delicious.

Hi NQN,
My best friend Charles and his gorgeous partner Chris (PR for Toyota) dined with you and Mr NQN at thredbo. Over diner and a few veruve champagnes you told them about this delicious cake. Knowing that I LOVE to bake, they said that this is a MUST for me to try!! So on Sunday I attempted. Whilst the blood oranges were boiling for 2 hrs, I decided to potter about the house cleaning.....let's just say I had to throw out the oranges along with the saucepan LOL :( I've decided this time to take to microwave option. I'm waiting for the oranges to cool down, as I write this, so I can continue on. Looking forward to the final outcome!!

Just made this may have been undercooked yet I prefer my cake under than dry. Everyone in my family liked the moist (rawish) center. Just a side note your website is my new most visited page! Love everything on here!

I made this cake as I'd lost my old trusty almond cake recipes. :(
It worked beautifully! I actually used one orange and one red grapefruit which give it a gorgeous, almost bitter flavour. Next time I'll try it with mandarins like I used to (reallt fragrant and a bit sweeter) and will let you know how it goes!
