The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Hi Ffichiban-Neither had I so I was really eager to try it :)

Yes I think a visit to the restaurant of a 5 star hotel would definitely be something I'd be in for!

Hi Y-Yup I've gone through so many sets of ear plugs and I find they usually fall out during the night. I rang the people doing the construction and apparently tomorrow is the last day for drilling. I'm so relieved! Now just for the neighbour that loves the lead blower...

Hi Reemski-I'd love to know what they think of the food. Although the SBS eating guide says that it is authentic Egyptian. Not that I would know, all I know is that it was delicious! Pity they were out of Koushery :( Can't wait to see your felafel!

Hi Barbara-Cool-so glad that it helps :) Bankstown is quite far from The Rocks and said to be not extremely safe at night (although I'm sure plenty would disagree with me). Thanks so much!

Hi Maria-I know, and the worst thing is that they're doing the same stretch of road that they were doing in June this year. I don't suggest Red Bull then, it tasted a bit medicinal. I think I should have just had a coffee

Thankyou so much! I do love a good pillow menu (although I tend to order one of each pillow  )

Hi grace-I don't see it on restaurant menus much but I do like a bit of Okra but I remember being interested in it as I'd always read or see it in Southern US books/movies.

Hi Suzie-I love that idea! They've promised that tomorrow is the last day for the drilling but I still like the idea anyway :)

You poor thing - my best suggestion is to treat yourselves to a night in a hotel every now and then to escape and regain your sanity. Love the google earth map - great idea.

Oh my heart goes out to you! I can hardly believe the roadworks *continue* at your place and that they are noisy enough to disturb your sleep. You are very clever, re: eBay ad. - I would be very tempted to do this. You're so funny! I've never tried Red Bull, but I'm scared of it because I need winding-down, not winding-up and I get 'heart' symptoms with all sorts of things and I'm guessing guarana or whatever else is in there (hefty amounts of caffeine?) wouldn't serve me well. What does it taste like?

I LOVE the look/sound of this Egyptian place. I enlarged and eyed-off the menu in my browser and I was pleased you ordered the Egyptian lasagne as I was very curious! I love the idea of chilli in the meat and also no tomatoes! Just cheeeeese. I thought the entire menu was very reasonably priced.

I like the sound and look of all your selections, but also the entire 'rustic' looking chalkboard menu!

My heart also goes out to anyone who eats at 5.30pmj (or should I say before 6) and under the age of 50 :P I do hope you get some quality Zzzz's soon.

((Extends the Sofitel hotel's 'pillow menu' and a blanky & noise cancellation ear muffs))
