The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

A big disappointment and here's the reason why - My wife rang up to organize a special family lunch for my 50th birthday. She knew I loved duck and pre-ordered the tea smoked lunch the day before. 'No problem' the lady who picked up the phone assured her. Turned up for our booking the next day, the lady took our order (duck, salted egg prawn, egg white crab, wasabi beef....), and twenty minutes later, guess what? 'Sorry, we sold all the ducks on Saturday....would you like something else?
We explained we rang up to prebook the duck the day before and was assured it was 'no problem'. 'Smoked duck sold out last night'was to her an adequate explanation.
The only reason we had wanted to celebrate the birthday there was the tea smoked duck. They should have explained that they could not guarantee availability or let us know when we turned up at our booking.
I'm afraid this is one place we have struck off our list as a place to eat or entertain. The rest of the food we ordered were ok by suburban standard but outrageously overpriced.
On the whole this place gave us the impression that the proprietor had no business nous.

The service sounds... interesting, but that tea-smoked duck looks like it would totally make up for it!

Hi Cakelaw-Yep you're right, I think if you get the good stuff you're in heaven!

Hi Ffichiban-Haha yes I don't think I've had service like that ever!

Hi Bria-Oh no! Well if you have a Shanghai restaurant nearby you don't have to go as Yum Cha, you can have them for dinner so perhaps that might convince your bf to give it a go? :)

Hi grace-LOL you are too funny!
