The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Hi Y-Hehe I didn't know that was an old joke (I'm not a huge teppanyaki person). How about butter being Japanese ice cream? He said that too and I think my sister believed him - for a second!

Japanese Coco-cola? Can't tell you how often I've heard that... They must teach those jokes at every single Teppanyaki school! :D

Hi Su-yin-I really liked the range of musicals in London, which makes me think I'd really like NY too.

Defying Gravity was my favourite song and yes when she was up in the air my heart jumped for joy and surprise. I almost wish it was the last song because it was so wonderful that I felt that the last song didn't do it justice.

Ah Avenue Q! Another musical I truly enjoyed. Then again I love most musicals so I might be biased. :P

I know what you mean about Wicked though. Defying Gravity was such a good way to end the first half, I found it amazing that Elphaba was on the ground one moment and in the air the next! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Hi grace-Apparently it's big in the US? Haha yes if only for Hooters jokes. Just kidding, I don't mind the US Office but nothing beats the can't-bear-to-watch-but-cannot-look-away quality of the UK version.

Hi Maria-Haha yes I love iceberg but served in a restaurant is strange. Also Japanese restaurants tend to use cabbage in their salads.

What a funny coincidence! Some things are funny that way :P

Haha no I would rather take my stomach somewhere else! Like to see Wicked again ;)

When my local gourmet green grocer closes early on the weekends I don't want to pay $4-$5 for a bag of mixed leaves from my local supermarket, so I bought an Iceberg lettuce on the weekend. It has its place.. I generally like all lettuce.

But when I saw what looked like Iceberg in your salad photo (?) I felt the food snob in me recoil!

Interesting: Onion Soup A La Japanese - I've never heard of such a thing! I've only ever spotted Miso based soups at Japanese places I've been to.

Hey remember when you shared your Picnic Cob.. & another one of my non-food blogging friends had done something similar on the same day? Last week a friend living in rural Victoria visited a Teppanyaki style Japanese place for the first time and she posted pics of food flying at them! Just thought I'd mention the co-incidences.

Re: this experience, it sounds like you'd probably not go there again (when in London)? At least you enjoyed the theatre! :)

Hi Angela-Perhaps it was the chef, that's the only thing I can think of and he definitely makes or breaks the meal :) Wicked was definitely my highlight though!

Hi FFichiban-Hah! I didn't get a prawn in the face, sorry to disappoint :P But I did as all girls who care about how they look do-I ducked!

Hi Su-yin-I think our chef tried to be funny but there wasn't much atmosphere there as we were the only hibachi on. I think it would be much better if the place was busy.

Haha yes, the soundtrack is amazing! I wish they'd release a DVD of it, just so I could relive it. It hasn't come to Sydney yet so I'll either have to go to Melbourne or wait :( We also saw Avenue Q while in London which I really liked too (in a different way to Wicked though, Wicked thoroughly shook my core).

Hi andrea-Thankyou very much! :)
