The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

I made these today for the first time after seeing a TV chef use A *PACKET* ON NATIONAL TELEVISION! Rage. So, I thought "I'll make them properly! I shall consult NQN!" And I have to say, they are INCREDIBLE! I had not lived until I tasted Whoopie Pies. However, I didn't let the marshmallow stiffen enough, so the first one slid and resulted in much swearing and giggling coming from my kitchen. It was great fun.

My fave recipe for Whoopie Pies hails from London and calls for the jet puffed marshmallow fluff that you can buy in an American supermarket. I'm not sure whether you can get it in OZ. There's no need to mix or reheat, just spread it on!

Hi Not quite Nigella you mentioned you couldn't do the Swiss butter cream because your hand held mixer broke. Hate to point this out but your Kitchenaid the best mixer in the world can mix your buttercream one thousand percent better. You can even use the whisk attachement to do this okay
Try making mashed potato with your kitchen aid no more hard work the best ever so smooth and creamy.
