The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

I had a choc brownie / cake at a friends house and asked for her recipe - it was the donna hay choc cake made in a brownie pan. I love it and it has become a great regular dessert!

Just love Donna's "pumpkin, onion and blue cheese frittata" from her book 'The Instant Cook . Always have the ingredients on hand. Can whip it up from memory and share it with friends for a light lunch. Ther're always impressed.

My favourite Donna Hay recipe is fruit mince pies from her Christmas book. They are very simple to make and yet look like you've spent hours slaving in the kitchen. They also happen to be delicious(you'll never eat shop bought tarts again.)
The fruit mince filling keeps in the fridge for more than a week.In preparation for surprise guests around December, I like to keep a batch in the fridge, then if I've got puff pastry in the freezer, I can have the tarts on the table in less than 1/2 an hour. Great for that domestic goddess feeling.

My housemate makes an awesome casserole with chicken, mushroom and tarragon. I've forgotten the name of the dish but it is from her favourite Donna Hay cookbook and it is my all time favourite dish!

I absolutely love her chocolate melt and mix cake that was featured in the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Living a few years ago. I make it so often I don't need the recipe anymore. Its easy and tasty, my favourite combination.
