The slightly eccentric eating, cooking and travel adventures of a Sydney girl who loves cakes, cooking, Nigella Lawson and eating. She eats, breathes and dreams food and indeed will never get cable TV as she'd quit working and watch the Food Channel all day long.

Thanks for the opportunity to win, Pink Frosting & Lorraine. My favourite parties where catered by me for my daughters 18th and 21st, the 21st being the best and most memorable.
Pink Frosting had lovely things toooo then. My son will be 18 soon and I think the Aged to Perfection Cupcake Party Kit and Contemporary Chocolate Personalised Cupcake toppers from Pink Frosting would suit just fine.

Cheers!

Today I would like to finish with a favourite of mine,
The biggest and best party I have been to and where I can say I had the best time!
Very soon on October Twenty-Eight,
I am going to have my second anniversary wedding date,
My husband who really isn’t great at romance,
Will wine me and dine me and hopefully I’ll get a dance,
We will look at each other after thirteen years of love,
And in the flicker of the candle light we’ll put away the boxing gloves, hehe only jokes!
I am so glad he is mine and he is as sweet as can be,
He is a cuddly man with good intentions you see,
He takes good care of our baby and me,
Works very hard away from home and is always striving to be the best he can be,
So our wedding was a small affair,
In the arena of how other weddings compare,
We had 70 guests for a cocktail party at a Winery Estate,
Set up high on a mountain with views that took your breath away,
It was a very hot day and the guests were melting in the shade,
While they waited for me and the music played,
I arrived only a little late,
But it was perfect timing as the clouds covered the sun when we got to the Estate gates,
This cooled the afternoon and the mountain breeze blew,
However the afternoon didn’t go without a hitch or two,
The flower girl got stage fright and Dad forgot when to walk,
But it didn’t matter because I felt like I floated to down the aisle and when I reached the alter my hubby could barely talk,
The ceremony did go very smoothly,
And I become Mrs. Teale and the tears followed soonly,
We celebrated with champagne, wine and beer of course, a cold Bundy also hubbies wish,
However the $2000 tab was gone in one hour, what’s that saying, to drink like a fish!
We had canapés and homemade savory delights,
There was so much food I told the guests to eat as much as they liked,
There was homemade soup made from local ingredients and crusty bread and dips,
The food was given five stars and some was so good it didn’t even seem to touch the lips!
It was a casual, merry affair,
Where our loved ones gathered to celebrate with us and we were so glad we got to share,
The evening ended on a high,
With lots of caramel mud cake and a spectacular lightning storm in the distant sky,
So that is my story of how I came to be,
Mrs. Teale and our beautiful baby girl now make three!

As you have read about pretty much every party that I think seems worthwhile telling you about I would like to tell you of my big! plans for a Christmas Party for next year, gives me a whole year to plan. It took me a year to plan my wedding so I figure this should be enough time. So inspired by the movies like Christmas with the Kranks ( not the running away from Christmas part) but the gathering of lots of people and having a great time.
We may not have everyone in the neighbourhood and we most likely, in fact definitely, won't stand in a large group in the house singing Christmas Carols but the spirit of Christmas is what has captured me. To gather your loved ones around, everyone brings a dish (as everyone is talented at cooking something) everyone brings a bottle of yummy wine and the festivities begin. Some funky Christmas carols in the background, kids running around squealing that Santa is coming soon, everyone chatting, laughing, smiling. The lights twinkle and the air is warm (especially here in QLD) and the evening is inviting you to step outside into the warm evening breeze.
The table is laid with red, silvers and whites. The tree is decorated and presents wrapped.
Yes that is a Christmas I would love to have and hopefully next year, fingers crossed.

So here is one for all dog lovers! My Mum a former ANZ employee held the Christmas ANZ party for her branch at our house many years ago. We owned a Beagle called George and if anyone knows what a Beagle is like then you will understand. They have incredible scenes and this dog had a cast iron stomach. Once he ate 12 bars of chocolate left in a box on the ground by a friend in high school, it was all gone before we knew he had started, (no word of a lie) anyway back to the story. So there were probably about 30 people and George had been put in the laundry to stop him trying to scavenge food, however that sneaky little fella managed to get out, and dinner had just finished and people were mingling out of their seats, George managed to hop onto the table (this was a regular occurrence) and he worked his way down the table eating every piece of leftover, the word hoover dog comes to mind with which the speed he chowed down on the food. He was in doggy heaven! He had pretty much got to the last plate before anyone in our family realised he was on the table, as we were busy inside cleaning up things. It was very embarrassing but very entertaining for the guests, now we can look back and laugh but we have had our fill of beagles.

My favourite "girly" party was my house mates 30th last month. I'm currently doing a cake decorating course at my local community college and made my very first fondant cake! It was a blue Tiffany box with a big white fondant bow and silver braclet. Soooo many complements! I loved every second of it.

It was probably more my husband's party then mine but we attended Oktoberfest in Germany in 2005. Wow, it was amazing to see that much beer! The place is extremely big! There are rides, which don't mix well with the food as you can imagine but the fact that people can drink from 11am to mid-night is amazing.
My husband always said the most amazing thing for him is that you don't get a hangover as the beer as no preservatives and it comes straight from the Keg, literally, they just break the cork and the beer is flowing no fancy taps just pouring beer!
There is always plenty of sour-crout and bratwurst, and big, big pretzels!
Wow, what a party and every year my husband says, "Can we go" and I say with a mortgage and a baby, maybe next year honey, got to give him some hope!

The best party I have attended was my daughter's first birthday party. Relaxed and casual, the setting was my parents' garden. The guests ranged from newborns to 65 year olds, and the food went from fairy bread, home made sausage rolls to a lebanese feast! The cake, of course, was the highlight - a butterfly covered with lolly jewels. Can't wait for the second birthday next year!

Before our Oktober fest 2007 my now husband blind-folded me and drove us to a picnic he had set up by the harbour at Macquaries Chair overlooking the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. With my fav food and wine and proposed to me...then we went and celebrated with our friends at the Oktoberfest party.

My favourite party was a Garden Tea Party I hosted in my garden to raise some money for the Cancer Council. My good friend has breast cancer so her and I decided to hold an event where we could eat cake with a conscience! So we prettied up the garden with paper lanterns and all things pretty and pink (pastel themed) and feasted on cupcakes, raspberry macaroon slice and champagne (amongst many other yummy morsels brought by our guests). And we raised $250 odd for the Cancer Council. A great, giving and yummy day was had by all!!
