Win 1 of 5 packs of iFlavour sprays!

Dear Readers, I have a wonderful little aromatic treat for you today! iFlavour flavour sprays are highly concentrated sprays that give  food a flavour and aroma injection. They do cuisine blends in African, Asian, Italian. Indian, Mexican and Native Australian with scents like Ras el Hanout,, Malaysian Laksa, Goan Vindaloo Curry and even. There are also sweet sprays such as aromatic chocolate which can also be layered with their zesty citrus or exotic orange sprays.  My favourites were the magnolia blend (yes magnolia flower!), the bouquet garni (which I always seem to run out of) and lemon myrtle. These iFlavour sprays do not require refrigeration, have a 2 year shelf life and are made of natural flavours without additives, preservatives of bulking agents and each 15ml bottle gives you 30-40 family sized meals. One spray is all you need as they’re so concentrated. They were also featured on Masterchef this past Wednesday night.

Thanks to the lovely people at iFlavour we’re giving away 5 packs of 3x 15ml flavour sprays. Each spray bottle is $10.50 each and all you have to do to win one of these is to pick your favourite three flavours! You may very well win them so choose carefully ;) And because iFlavour loves NQN readers, they’ve put aside a special stash of the magnolia spray should you want to choose that one. And this competition is open to overseas readers too! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at Midnight AEST 11th July, 2010. You can enter this once daily.

I have to admit that the Magnolia sounds really interesting as well… and passing up the Chocolate one was difficult!

    Hi Lorraine,

My choices are Exotic Orange Blend, Aromantic Chocolate and Zesty Citrus Blend.
During my recent visit to Sumatra, Indonesia, I had the opportunity to taste Kueh Lapis (also known as Thousand Layered Cake), a Dutch inspired cake. It’s so full of flavour and texture, with layers upon layers of indigenous sweet and spicy warm flavours. I’m inspired to re-create my own version of this cake with Exotic Orange Blend, locking in the rich red mandarin, orange blossom, cardamom and almond flavours, and infusing a bit of Aromantic Chocolate for the flavours of the “thousand” layers. To complement the sweetness of my Kueh Lapis, I’ll make a sweet sour sauce using Zesty Citrus Blend to add that extra zest to bring out the lights and shades of this Dutch inspired cake.

    Cheers,
    Emily

OK, my three faves would be the Ras el Hanout, because it seems like every chef here is using that spice mix now; the exotic orange because I bet it smells so good I’ll just want to squirt it everywhere; and the magnolia blend, because it’s your fave, so it has to be amazing.

  • 31. Lyn | June 12th, 2010 at 10:54 am | #

  • 33. Moya | June 12th, 2010 at 11:01 am | #

Cooking with science, how brilliant! I would choose zesty citrus, lemon myrtle and the red mandarin blend.

  • 34. Sarah | June 12th, 2010 at 11:02 am | #

I can’t quite get my head around the full extent of the uses of this product – I’ll have to read up more to understand the properties and how to use them.

The idea I find instantly appealing is the Indian flavours to spray onto rice. I often do Indian curries when we go camping. These sprays would allow me to whip up a fragrantly spiced version of rice to accompany the curries with no effort and almost no ingredients – yaay.

I love the idea of chocolate spice for the same reason – spiced hot chocolate when we’re camping – a few sprays and there you are. Gourmet camping just hit a new level :)

So my favourites are Aromantic Chocolate, Indian Curry Masala and because I’m crazy for anthing citrus the Zesty Citrus Blend.

  • 35. carol | June 12th, 2010 at 11:04 am | #

Mmm, I was really curious after seeing these on TV – and, I’m not sure my brain can even comprehend something tasting like magnolia flowers :P

My favourites would have to be the magnolia (out of curiosity), and the lemon myrtle and native bush spices (I’ve had a bit of an experimenting-with-native-ingredients craze lately…)

  • 42. Phunk | June 12th, 2010 at 11:55 am | #

I have a penchant for all things spicy or savory and after reading all the descriptions and going on experience with the Moroccan and Indian flavors, these strike me as the most tantalizing. The Aussie flavor is curiosity PLUS it just sounds incredibly mailable for a variety of coastal game/fish types, my selection is as follows.

    Native Bush Spice
    Moroccan Chermoula
    Goan Vindaloo Curry

I have a penchant for heady blends in all things in my life and these just sound divine. Thank you so very much for the introduction to such an amazing product, Lorraine :)

  • 53. Merryl | June 12th, 2010 at 2:01 pm | #

Then I’d dream up something to make… maybe lemon myrtle pannacotta
    red mandarin brulee tarts and
peri peri chicken kebabs :) Sounds fun!

Cajun!! I’m an American in Sydney yearning for something from home.

  • 58. Eileen | June 12th, 2010 at 3:12 pm | #

how fascinating! do you put them on food or directly in your mouth? just reading up on them and im curious to whether they do replicate the taste. AWESOME!
The thai stirfry one looks like an interesting one to try, the chocolate one sounds fantastic too! and the cajun one sounds amazing? can you buy them around australia or only online?
:D have you travelled to Darwin yet for a gastronomic experience? I think you’d love it here. tropical fruits everywhere and the Mindil beach sunset markets and a lot of fusion cuisine. I recommend Hanuman’s. :D

  • 59. Jonathon James Clarke | June 12th, 2010 at 3:33 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,

I think that the cajun spice blend, the bouquet garni, and the native bush spices all sound wonderful, although the tuscan blend sounds amazing also! Can you please advise as to where these will be available in Victoria? Or would they be in stock wherever good boutique foodie stuff is sold? Thanks! :)

  • 60. Christine | June 12th, 2010 at 4:22 pm | #

So hard to choose but I’d pick:

    - Cajun Spices
    - Bouquet Garni
    - Native Bush Spices

  • 61. Jacqui Lagaluga | June 12th, 2010 at 4:51 pm | #

No preservatives, additives or bulking agents just concentrated flavour !Wow this is the type of product that I find appealing to my lifestyle. The Lemon Myrtle would be great to flavour icing for an Acacia Seed Cake, the Armtoic Chocolate would be ideal in desserts and puddings while I would be enticed to use the Exotic Orange Blend with fish and prawn dishes. These are my three selections.

    Lemon Myrtle Blend

  • 65. Natalie Taylor | June 12th, 2010 at 6:30 pm | #

Oh my word!!! An international competition. Very exciting. I live in Devon in the UK so would adore the Lemon Myrtle as a little taste of home. Then next would be Red Mandarin because that sounds mad in a good way. Mandarin as a flavour is not happening in the UK. Plus Chocolate. As I haven’t a clue about these products I know these 3 will motivate me to dabble. Fingers crossed :-D

  • 144. Jessica | June 22nd, 2010 at 5:02 pm | #

Ultimately, all would be ideal! However, to get the taste buds going I’d have to pick (in no particular order)…

    1. Peppercorn Blend – If only this was available when I was in high school my life would have been much easier and school bag so much lighter! Back in the day, I would take my own pepper grinder to school so that I could smoother my lunch with freshly ground pepper. I love pepper on everything. I’m one of those people waiters love to hate – the customer who always requests extra pepper to be milled from the ridiculously large and cumbersome grinder, thus causing them to wake the next day with a painful case of tennis elbow.
NB: To restaurant managers/owners, it may be an idea, in order to prevent staff from filing law suits against your business for pepper grinder inflicted injuries, to invest in smaller, more manageable battery-powered pepper grinders or a large supply of iFlavour’s Peppercorn Blend.

    2. Aromantic Chocolate – This is going straight into my handbag! Guilt-free liquid chocolate at the ready to satisfy all my sweet cravings. I’m thinking, a spray here and spray there…one into my afternoon coffee, oh why not one into my morning coffee too, one onto my strawberry, another to transform a plain biscuit into a chocolate coated delight! Onto ice-cream, into a cocktail, my tummy is a grumble with the thought of chocolate at a squirt! And, while eyes are averted, I may just sneak a spray directly onto my tongue.

    3. Native Bush Spices – A gift for my brother who has a love of grilling (and eating) kangaroo, this blend would encourage him to expand his repertoire of kangaroo dishes. Sprayed onto the roo before cooking, it would make a meal that is truly true blue. To be completely honest with you Lorraine, it would really be a present for me! The strong smell of kangaroo being grilled can make me a little queasy, so hopefully iFlavour’s Native Bush Spices would mask the pungent smell that permeates the entire house when my brother cooks kangaroo.

Wow, what a great competition and how exciting that I can enter too from all the way over here in N. Ireland.

    My 3 flavours are:
Aromatic Chocolate (I have an insanely sweet tooth and would love to try this out in my baking)

Lemon Myrtle Blend (I love tart flavours and lemon is one flavour the wife & I share a love of, this flavour mix intrigues me)

Native Bush Spices (this one would be for my parents, my stepdad is from Canberra but has lived here for 15 years, it would be nice to share a little bit of home with him as he finds it so hard to get anything interesting to eat here!)
