Dearest Readers! I know you love coffee and I was just excited when Lavazza offered one lucky reader a Lavazza A Modo Mio machine. My first question however was what does A Modo Mio mean? The translation of A Modo Mio is “My Way” (how very Frank Sinatra) and this Lavazza machine can really be made your way as you can even change the skin on your machine to the image of your choice!
The A Modo Mio closed capsule machine was created in partnership with Saeco and lets you create great quality coffee at home. The machine features cutting edge extraction technology which produces a perfectly full-bodied espresso every time. It comes fully equipped with a pressure steam nozzle, allowing home users to prepare creamy cappuccinos and lattes like an Italian barista. I used to make coffees at a cafe I used to work at and frothing the foam was my favourite part ![]()
The Lavazza family has been roasting coffee in Torino, Italy for over a century and four generations. The latest A Modo Mio flavours include – Intensamente (traditional) , Magicamente (delicate and refined) and Divinamente (full bodied).

The new Lavazza A Modo Mio Premium is priced at $399 and comes complete with a 32 capsule starter pack but thanks to the lovely people at Lavazza, one lucky Not Quite Nigella reader will get a Lavazza A Modo Mio machine of their own in a sleek and sexy silver just like the one I have above plus a starter pack! As the whole premise is doing it “my way” all you have to do is tell me something unique about you! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at Midnight AEST Thursday 7th of November, 2010. You can enter this once daily and this competition is open anyone in Australia.
You can also enter on twitter by retweeting this competition (make sure to add @NotQuiteNigella to your retweet so that I can see it) or you can leave a comment on my facebook page!
***Congratulations to the winner: Sonya J.***
Lots of love,
Lorraine

The anecdote is about my coffee drinking habits.
I started drinking coffee seriously in Buenos Aires where I was plied with short blacks which they drink with at least six teaspoons of sugar.
So now when I order a short mac I have to subversively add the sugars whilst distracting my coffee drinking companions with something like ‘Ooh look isn’t that Hugh Jackman over there!?!’

Wow Lorraine, you have the BEST competitions on your blog! I won’t be telling anyone I know about this one though…. I want it all to myself! Hmmm, something unique about me? Coffee related this morning I think. My coffee comfort place is a spoon of instant and a spoon of milo made with half hot milk and half hot water. I drank this all through my pregnancy… yum!
Coffee? Count me in! Something unique about me? Well, I have a rib instead of a jaw,so how’s that for unique?
well, we’re all unique, but I CAN tie a knot in a cherry stem with my tongue. Special.
Hmm, well, the unique thing about me must be the way I hopped around countries and professions! I was born in Japan, grew up as a kid in the US and have now been living in Oz for 30 yrs, travelled a lot as a performer and a couple of years ago married a German! And I went from being a dancer to an actor to a director/producer and then to an IT programmer to a project manager and now a business analyst! Phew, I really need a coffee after all that…
I designed the house we live in and made the kitchen the central point as I love to cook and entertain friends. I am in the process of designing a new house for us, which will have the kitchen, again a central point, upstairs with the living rooms and dining rooms around it, all overlooking a golf course with view to the city, so I can enjoy cooking, views and friends and family all at the same time.
How do you do Lorraine.
Apart from loving the city coffee experience, I hope I am a good host. I don’t do it as much as I’d like but I’m very happy having friends at my house to share a meal.
Regards, Jennifer
PS I’m looking forward to moving to Sydney in January.
Looks absolutely beautiful! Great coffee and so easy to make a nice cup of Italian coffee!!!
Possibly not the best way to be unique but I have an ‘elf ear’. I was born with one ordinary ear and one that makes me look like an elf. As yet I have found no actual point that this has been useful but if I ever need to dress up as an elf…I am ready.
“my way” – being a stay at home Mum that’s doing it my way. Sometimes people say they could go crazy staying at home looking after the kids. It’s been a rewarding job and it’s not over yet.
Hi Lorraine … my way is nothing to do with coffee at all … just i guess my way of staying sane … working from home with three munchkins … just taking one day or sometimes one hour at a time ..hahahahaha….coffee comes in handy though
… great prize … looks very cute too
Unique about me? Maybe my dna? The more I look around facebook, the less unique I feel. What I thought were endearable quirks about me I find have a facebook page with 1,000′s of friends saying ME TOO!
Hi NQN. Thanks for the fun competition! My current uniqueness must surely be my sideburns, which I am cultivating for a Hallowe’en Party. We are just past the itchy stage and headed firmly into bushy galore. Luckily not going to get into the crema zone, so continued coffee intake will be permitted. Ciao, Ant.
I am hooked on online competitions.I win lots of prizes ,got lots of cds, dvds, tickets
I have been drinking, enjoying and seeking out the best coffee for more than 50% of my age now. It has taken me along time to find the one (Piccolo Late) I like the best but hate the ‘barista rock star’ mentality that comes with it now that coffee is so ‘social’ and readily available. Lavazza has always been my choice of bean, even through the ‘pod’ period with ‘other’ brands, their blends were still the best. How cool to be able to make it just the way you want it and not hold up the line in the cafe?
I was (when i was 21yo) and possibly still am the youngest person the local skincancer specialist had seen with a melanoma…moral of the story…don’t go to solariums!
i am not sure whether it is actually unique about me, but it appears that at 50 years of age, many companies think you are unemployable and therefore i have been out of work fo a long time
This is a little O.C.D. When I brush my teeth I split my jaw into sections and each section must be brushed in multiples of ten. As you can imagine, for a man I take forever in the bathroom…
I can say the Alphabet backwards faster that you can say it forward, Just test me, Huh
I have a couple of pretty unique party tricks.
1. I can drink without swallowing – I can literally hold my throat open and pour.
2. I can bend my thumbs back to 90 degree angles like many other people can do, but I can also do the same with my big toes which I’ve never met anyone else who can do that.
awesome comp! <3 the name!
unique? i can pinch with my toes and leave purple bruises xD
and ofcos i can repeat that with my fingers too, just to a greater degree xD
hey NQN the unique thing about me is i can balance a packet of cards on my nose. yes out of the packet! too quite a bitof goofing around and practise tho!
i love my coffee and the coffee machine looks so sexy in silver!
i dont hv much unique about me other than my freckles if joined up with a line looks something like a lopsided star. hehe
Hi Lorraine,
I’m an artist / painter, not quite Claude Monet, but I’m working towards that dream. My work defines who I am. It is a reflection of my thoughts, my experiences, my dreams, things that I see, hear, touch, taste and feel every day. And you Lorraine, through this marvelous NQN food experience, have provided me with so much inspiration to imagine and create works of art beyond my wildest expectations. Simple things in life, like every day sounds, music, conversations, the views, weather, colours, the food (especially), their textures, depth, lights and shades… they don’t go past my mind like fleeting moments of imagination, instead all of these combine to present a great canvas for me to work towards my next masterpiece.
Art provides me with a unique avenue to express things “my way” and fill my life with meaning, joy and passion.
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
Hmmm. My way is to have different coffees for different times of the day.
I like large foamy skinny mochas in the morning.
Just a simple old flat white in the day, long blacks in the afternoon
And in the evening, a caramel macchiato. Just for dessert.
Mmmm.
This would make my coffee bills a little cheaper methinks.
Something unique.. I am obsessed with birds. Even to the point where I think I should start a blog about my birdwatching experiences, I get ridiculously excited when I see a King Parrot land on my balcony!!
Hmmmm, this is hard … It’s certainly no secret that I LOVE my coffee and that I’d rather have no coffee than a crap one.
Possibly my biggest secret has always been that I was a silent sufferer of depression for most of my life. Even when other people admitted they had depression, I would stay quiet about my own battles. It wasn’t until I spent a month in a private hospital being treated for depression and anxiety, that I really came to grip with my demons, and accepted my mental health issues. I now treat depression and anxiety just like any other illness, which can be treated, and talk of it openly and without shame. I am now really happy with my life, and do all the things I need to stay healthy – exercise, eat and drink well, see my psychologists, shrink etc, and take my medications. I also live mindfully and fine something to enjoy out of everyday. Often that’s my first coffee of the day!
YAY! I love coffee, though that’s not being unique. heee…okkk…hmm I love making cupcakes with a twist. Like pumpkin-chocolate…lol. my family has guts
I come from such a coffee loving family that when I was 2 years old my Mum was carrying me around while preparing her coffee on the stove, and managed to spill the boiling hot coffee all over me. Thankfully I no longer have scars but that half of my body burns in the sun really easily!
I have just moved out of home and only started drinking coffee recently, this would be so perfect in my new home!
I must always eat sandwiches cut into triangles, as rectangles taste so wrong. My mum always told me it was the same filling, it makes no difference – but you get a better split of filling when it’s cut diagonally
I set my alarm 30 minutes early each morning so that I can have a quiet read & a cuppa before work. A must have to my routine. As I quickly get withdrawals from both.
Something unique about me? Well, I’m (clearly) obsessed with chocolate but have no interest in chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, or hot chocolate
Hmmm….I veiw the world through pretty purple lenses. I don’t need glasses for the prescription, just for the colour, (it’s a form of dyslexia) and stops me getting ‘seasick’ from fluorescant lights and patterns.
Unique about me…. well, I don’t know if you’ll get the significance, but there’s a Poke`mon (from a kids show in japan that got very popular here), that I can imitate exactly. It’s quite freaky ^_^
Also, anything that’s light enough, cards, money, coins, paper, some cardboards… I can press it to my forehead and it will stay there. Must be something about the oils in my skin!
Clearly I’m crazy enough to require numerous cups of coffee a day just to stay sane!
something unique well all i can say its that i love my grandkids, children husband life and cooking which i religesly try out nigellas recipe to perfection shes number one in my eyes.
I want to be a barrista in my own kitchen
hahaha
Such a lovely prize. I’ve never been able to justify a coffee machine purchase.
Something unique hmm… I can touch my nose with my tongue
Hope you’re feeling better xo
I have a diamond in my upper left canine. I also told my child that if he is good then the diamond fairy will come and give him one.
1. diamond in tooth makes me unique
2. Lies to to kids well,, not so unique!!
@mrs_kan
I have to start the day peacefully so that i can cope with lifes everyday problems so i have a quiet cup of coffee and a read of the newspaper before anyone can speak to me-i say its for inner strength but the fanily say its because im a grump until ive had my cuppaand read
Unique?
Girl, you KNOW I am all over the unique. I mean HOW MANY PEOPLE manage to have illnesses that are usually confined to babies, old people, teenaged boys, weekend sportsmen over the age of forty and THEN two abdominal surgeries in one day that are totally unrelated.
And be totally awesome.
Me, I am unique personified.
What a fantastic little machine! What makes me unique? Hmmm, I cry at surprise parties! Weird I know. More of a few-tears-in-the-eyes kinda cry than a full cry, but if you laugh at me I will cry for real!!
Wow! Would really love this coffee machine. I am an absolute coffee fiend and just about to return to Australia from 3 years working in an Indian Ocean island country that’s a desert for good coffee. Need to make up for lost time and this would be just the ticket!
Something unique? I am always busy and when I’m not busy, I look for things to do and make myself busy. I must always have something to do because I seem to have a fear of boredom – or a healthy backlog of stuff that always needs doing.
having read the posts, I feel quite dull ..
no pixie ears or special talents..
Would love a coffee machine tho – my kettle broke last week and I haven’t replaced it yet – Lavazza A Modo Mio Coffee machine for me, please!
my name is pretty unique, the intials of my first and middle names spell my last name backwards. And that also works for the intials of my first and last names.
I think I can uniquely claim to be NQN’s newest fan! What a fabulous blog … FOLLOW!
Hi NQN. I am the only one in the family who can twist her tongue and touch her nose with it. I however am the only one in the family who cannot whistle. Btw, I love your blog.
something unique about me is that i love to try new recipes
and my fav coffee is a hazelnut latte.. mmm..
Woo cool prize! Umm..unique about me….
I do everything really fast! Ha! People are always telling me to slow down. I don’t know if its a good thing or not. But I like doing things quickly and accurately. I get bored so easy hehe. I guess that ties in with my caffeine addiction – I have three to four a day usually. And am always on the hunt for the best coffee in town. I dont have a machine at home either and it sucks!
I’m quite a normal and average person…but I have a beautiful geisha tattooed on my leg, I did it in Kyoto!
AHH I love the giveaways you have! Something unique about myself: I have a strong American accent despite never been in America! And its not because I’ve watched too much American TV!
Fantastic giveaway, Lorraine! Something unique about me is that I can only drive with my shoes off (which is very annoying in boot-wearing Sydney weather like this!)
Hi NQN! I am unique as I am actually excited about moving from Sydney to Canberra at the end of this year – only downside is good coffee is harder to find in our proud nation’s capital! This prize would definitely help out
Great competition!
Something unique about me – I have no natural depth perception, I have to continually learn it and adapt to my environment – made for fun learning to drive!
What a great prize! Hmm, a unique thing – I have a cat who barters for extra kibble by bringing me frangipani leaves. Probably more a unique thing about the cat – but if I won I would offer her a latte each time I made one for myself.
Even now as a grown up, I swallow my peas. Simply can’t stand the squelch of them in my mouth. And green beans make me gag. I obviously have a sever problem with green vegetables.
i can pass my children off as my siblings. considering they’re both taller than me at just 10 and 11 (i’m not midget, just petite like you
…I’ll be 33 end of october from Asian Background.
It is a constant embarrassment for my kids when people assume i’m the AU pair!
I live too far out of town to nip in for a quick cup of coffee. My own machine would be wonderful, especially when I’m doing a late night baking bread.
Ooh, this is a lovely competition! Something unique about me is I have a large scar on the inside of my right arm.
Don’t try to iron your arm when you are three.
All throughout Year 12 I used to mix a teaspoon of coffee into my tea. I can’t work out why I didn’t just make coffee?
mmmm…..something unique? (which I have just discovered I share with millions of Indians)….I just love ratties and apparently they, me. I’m like a ratty whisperer!
I don’t know if that makes me unique but I am 30 and have lived in 13 different cities and 5 different countries since I am born! Sydney is the place where I have spent the most time, 4.5 years and counting…
Haha, what a great competition! Something unique about me? I gave up coffee for 5 years due to panic attacks and then I travelled to Italy for 16 days and jumped off the wagon, having espressos about 3 times a day, I discovered it wasn’t the caffeine but the sugar that was the problem so I switched to other sweeteners and have never looked back since! I LOVE strong coffee!
Don’t know whether it is just me, but with any coffee or hot choc i always ask for extra froth and choc powder tehehe
Sarah.
Some things that make me happy also make me sad – like the smell of spring is beautiful but gives me hayfever, and the warmth of a cat sitting on my lap makes me smile but make my nose and eyes run.
Well I wracked my brain and apparently I find myself somewhat lacking in things unique enough to win this competition…so I choose instead to bask in the glory (and tastiness!!) of the 111 gram egg (I do not lie…photos available)that Beatrice, one of my two chickens laid a couple of months ago. The best double yoker, same day laid, poached egg I’ve ever had.
This is such a wonderful giveaway -if I was closer I would be all signed up.
I run a cooking blog on which the only photos I post are ones where I’m reviewing a product!
I never remember to photograph the foods I cooked – which given most are home-y every day foods, normally aren’t that attractive anyway
Hmm.. something unique… After my waters broke I dyed my lashes & brows before heading to hospital to give birth. That was exactly one year ago today!
I’m still looking for “My way!”.. but my coffee is still.. like my men… dark, rich, and sweet!!!
I am double-jointed so i can contort my body in various positions and I can do all this whilst drinking iced-coffee.
I wish I could enter! Boohoo!
Oh wow. Something unique about me is my name! I have never come across another person with my first and last names. The issue with having somewhat uncommon names is that no one can spell them though!
They call me James Bond 007 although Iam not English or never been a secret agent nor visited the UK, except for being a Connoisseur of Fine Food, wine, Scotch, Cigars and Coffee except for women. So I was given the license to thrill many women.
Unique huh? My friends and family say that I am psychic and I know that I am going to win this Lavazza package.
I have a birth mark in the shape of a pink heart on my inner thigh.
Something unique about me is my first middle and surnames spell the word ELF so a lot of workmates and friends call me elf or elfy
Loving this competition! Even if just to read all the unique things about everyone!
My unique thing is – I learnt to juggle fire and knives in High school. True story! I went to a performing arts high school.
No-one else can match this: I have my own children… unique beings themselves too!
Nothing very unique about me but I can say that I still love my job after 33 years and the closer I get to my retirement date (and I have been counting down for years) the less I think I want to do it – although the freedom to travel when I want would be great!
Hi there! Shhh! I’ve been secretly drinking coffee since the age of 8 when mum taught me how to make hers! Cheers… Kelly:)
I homeschool my two boys… lots of fun and very rewarding but boy do I need my coffee!!
Gosh, you have a bunch to pretty unique readers. Hmmmm…..I have an Orchid named after me.
I would so love to win this. Unique?….sadly nothing really unique about me, other than I love my coffee and in order to get a decent one…it is a 250k round trip. But I do enjoy getting up with the birds and enjoying that first cup out in the back garden listening to and watching nature at its best!
Gosh Lorraine, how did you come up with this tough question? I really can’t find anything unique about myself that stands out like some of your other readers. Fairly normal but hopefully not boring. My friends say that I’m always happy and bubbly with a big smile on my face despite going through difficult times( as everyone does), so maybe I can count this as my uniqueness: Loving life and taking each day with gratitude and a positive demeaner.
By the way I LURVE COFFEE, make mine a cappuccino with extra froth !!!
I love chocolate but it makes me so ill. That’s sad but kinda special?
If my hubby has used the towel after his shower and the other one is in the wash, instead of using the damp towel, I will dry myself with 57 tissues.
I’m a 32 year old virgin
I’ve been raised very old fashioned, and very European – where my man is my king, our home is our castle & I do EVERYTHING, so that when he gets home all he has to do is put his feet up, eat dinner & relax….and everything I cook is from scratch (nothing pre-prepared, pre-packaged, or frozen in our home). I also do all the gardening & home maintenance & repairs too. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Some call me odd, many call me strange, but I embrace it as being unique, that I do not like, want or need children, and do not have a single maternal bone or gene in my body. Some call it selfish, but it’s my way & it makes ME happy.
I’m probably the only Italian man on this planet that walked away from his huge Italian family in order to be with the love of his life. My choice, my way, my happiness, not there’s.
Hi Lorraine
Something unique about me…
I have a big scar on my right leg that I got when I went cage diving with sharks in South Africa. ( I wasn’t bitten by the sharks, I cut my leg when climbing back into the boat! )
Thank you for the great competition!
Well NQN, Have to say I love reading your blog you are the butter to my bread, the very essence that is the spice that makes eating a joy. Gone are the days of meat and 3 veg and there standing in its place the Mona Lisa of the food world we all adore, yes you NQN. To say unique, would be a term kept solely for you,for none could dare enter the realm of walking in your shoes and opening the doors of so many wonderful culinary delights, like a magical tour with every blog that is posted. Unique, and fabulous.
I’m unique! Well that’s what hubby says! Not sure if that is good or bad
seriously though, i have a birthmark on my scalp?
Unique or interesting? there isn’t a food I wouldn’t eat..
I am an allergy magnet! Did an allergy test at the doctors and out of the 25 individual tests, I was allergic to 23! Was told I should live in a bubble. Not really practical though, I just take antihistamines instead!!
I’m limited edition, though not exactly mint condition, and not sure if I’m idiosyncratic or just idiotic. I march in my own unco way to the beat of my own unco drum,
But really I’m singularly unique as the next person
I’m limited edition, though not exactly mint condition, and not sure if I’m idiosyncratic or just idiotic. I march in my own (unco) way to the beat of my own (unco)drum so I think I can say I’m singularly unique . . . but no more than the next person!
Something unique about me is I am so into food, and anything food related that I have a tattoo of a mushroom on my rubs as they are my favourite food, and I am currently designing a full back tattoo of a cupcake tree, hopefully with maybe a goat and some other animals having a tea party at the bottom! Or if i won this machine it may become a coffee party!
The most unique thing about me is that I only have 1 dimple on my right cheek, which is not natural but due to an accident as a 2 year old, resulting in stitches. And people always compliment me on them, then curiously ask how come I only have the one dimple instead of the usual 2.
I love eating challenges and this week I will be doing a meat pie challenge. I need to eat 6 pies to win minimum to win. Piece of cake.
I am original. My lovely wife, daughter and son, know that I’m me. Today I took T-Bird to ride his first bike. Then I took Elmi (her name is Finnish, meaning famous) on the tandem to get some bbq trays. Then I kissed my wife and put the lamb on the barbie. We had a great day. I showed my friends and their family my electrice guitar I’m making. It looks rocking, and it will roll.. no doubt. I love coffee. Probably more than most. I would love this one, but I would give the machine to someone I know who would love it, and their family who would like making it for him, and learning the nuances of the machine to make for their unique dad and husband.
When I was first started to learn how to walk, I use to squat under a glass table and lift it with my head, apparently i was a very strong baby with a pretty thick skull!
Sadly I have no sense of smell, but it has not stopped my love of food and cooking
I can talk so fast it’s not even funny, it bugs everyone and they tell me to lay off the coffee.
I hiccup when I’m hungry.
I’m unique because I’ve worked in Taronga Zoo with reptiles and amphibians, worked in 2 hospitals in their anatomical pathology labs (where ‘bits’ from surgery are sent), also worked as a newborn baby hearing screener and because at 29 I have mild degeneration of my hips, lower back & discs- so I can’t run, waddle like a duck instead.
Something unqiue about me is a story about my family and their reaction to people having sugar in their coffee. My grandma (and now her son – my father) firmly believe that you should not have sugar in a milk coffee… so everytime a guest asks for sugar they either leave it out or add half the amount and then next time add even less! It work on my Mum, she use to have 3 sugars in her coffee and my grandma (over about 15 years) got her down to none! I also don’t have sugar in my coffee
Something unique about me is probably my taste in books: great works of literature and poetry sit happily next to trashy chick lit and Mills and Boon, and I’m not afraid to admit it
I’m allergic to cockroaches. Odd, no?
unique or weird ? My laugh and humour and love of food and all the sounds that I make when I see food ….
Well the most unique thing about me is my long toes… My little toe is the length of my little finger… also I love to smile and make people happy (which does require a good cup of coffee everyday)…
Smiles Rozzie Kaye
“My way” is when I eat noodle, I would ask for half noodle or even less, with the same amount of soup. I can finish a whole bowl of good soup but only eat a small amount of noodle regardless taste of the noodle.
“My way” for a cup of coffee is always capuccino with 1 or 2 tsp sugars and grated Flake Cadburry instead chocolate powder (GG coffee cafe using these and drinking capuccino then followed by melted chocolate on top of my froth for the first sip is a heaven).
You should try these and knowing you from your blogs, I believe that you do it “My Way” too
After a potentially life threatening medical condition, and subsequent tests, It was discovered I have 4 fully functioning kidneys, statistically speaking Im about 1 in a million. So Im pretty unique.
Well now, I would definitely consider myself a whirl of unique contradictions that could best be described by the lovely Lavazza coffee package…
I can be very Intensamente (traditional) as I treasure continuing (and indeed starting my own) family tradtitions. The rituals in life give me a sense of pleasure and calm that only comes with the familiar. Yet I love and appreciate the modern, such as the sleek, sexy lines of the A Modo Mio machine.
I would like to consider myself delicate and refined (Magicamente) in personality, but get me playing a boardgame or physical competition and no matter how hard I try not to, I become a woman possessed!
‘Divinamente’…what a poetic way to describe my full bodied curves! Thanks for the inspiration
As for one thing particularly unique about me? I have never been a scout, but boy do I like their motto. I have an unusual desire to be prepared for any situation. I call myself ‘unique,’ my friends would say ‘eccentric’ and I think strangers would say ‘mad’ or ‘weird’! Was at a hen’s day scavenger hunt recently and pulled out of my bag some hand sanitiser (normal, right)…no one batted an eyelid, then pulled out a first aid kit (a few eyebrows were raised), but for some reason, everyone was speechless when I pulled out a screwdriver! Well…I might have needed it! P.S I won the scavenger hunt!
my way – as much as I adore the flavours of coffee, I withhold drinking it to remain hypersensitive to caffeine. That way, when I have an essay due and a late night ahead of me, one cup of coffee will keep me going the whole day and night.
Hi NQN,
My Mr and I have been together for 7 years (since we were sweet 16) and have lived together for the past 2. On a weekend morning he often makes coffee for me in our stove top coffee maker. I think I’m pretty unique in having found such a sweeti at such a young age and would love an espresso machine to surprise him with!
P.s NQN I wanted to thank you for the great eating inspiration you provide – I’m now going to high tea for my B’day in 2 weeks.
<3
My way – when ordering take-away, I always ask my sugar to be stirred into my coffee. Some barista’s do some don’t – but at least my way makes sure… who likes getting that last big sugary sip at the end of your coffee???!
Our crazy house is hectic,
My OCD just can’t cope,
So I escape with a coffee and daydream,
To regroup inspiration and hope.
What reveals itself is a pattern,
An easy and accountable way,
To deal with the chaos and compulsion,
To remain optimistic all day.
Escaping for a minute in ‘O sole mio,
I begin to think all in rhyme,
Poems my catalyst to sanity,
I guess My Way I’m unique is my mind! LOL
Something unique about me – my fingerprints
I walk to the beat of my own drum. I have the ability to walk in a different world along side those suffering terribly from mental illness. I love animals and have forever shared an affinity with them. Holistic healing is close to my heart. Troubles always abound but I draw strength from my faith and with it brings growth and wisdom. The journey always continues.
When I order Cappucino alone I sprinkle an extra package of sugar on the choclatey froth and crunch my way through scoop by wonderful scoop!
coffee mmmmmmmm coffee first thing in the morning to get the day started. not having one in the morning is like having the batteries only half charged
Something unique about me? I once fell off one of those giant water slides at Movie World
my home is run on love and coffee. where would i be without caffeine?
i have never ever broken a single bone in my body…….yet.
Something unique and possibly worrisome about me is that I love to eat pizza and fresh Turkish pide with a side dipping bowl of fresh chopped chili, fish sauce and lemon juice. My mouth is watering with each word I type…
Ihave a scr on my leg from running into a fence at tennis. Unco?
Hi
I am allergic to crabs/crayfish/lobster.
Wonderful giveaway! Hmm, something unique about me… I actually do not like coffee! I love the aroma however I cannot stand the taste. I ahve tried it so many differentw ays but I am a tea person. I’d love to win this for my husband!
Something interesting about me is that I know several Italian songs off by heart while having absolutely no idea what they mean. I suspect I should learn before I go to Italy next year (looking forward to the coffee and gelato!) and start drunkenly singing in the inevitable event I sample too much of the wine, and suddenly find myself in a roomful of angry Italians.
I am learning spanish. I would love to win the coffee machine as my husband has become quite addicted to percolated coffee after visiting the Netherlands for work.
The second toe on my left foot looks exactly like ET The Extra Terrestrial.
THAT I HAVE GINGER HAIRS UP MY NOSE, BUT DARK HAIR EVERYWHERE ELSE.. GO FIGGURE
I don’t know what is better, the prize for this competition or reading about everyone’s unique stories! Fantastic! My unique story for the day is that I have finally embraced being a stay-at-home-mum after four years. I have accepted that its ok to enjoy taking care of my children and running our home. I love to cook meals for the family and make sure the washing is done and cleaning is up-to-date! SAHM and PROUD!
i think apples taste better sliced, pizzas taste bad when they aren’t round, and tea tastes better when you add the tea to the milk but coffee is better when you do it the other way!
i collect money:)
i subtly sabotage ‘visits’ to the Inlaws…(perhaps not as unique as i think though – bet there are a lot of daugher in laws doing the same thing!)
Hmmm, nothing unique. But I do love coffee and was told recently I am dependant and sure cut back…
I’m afraid of cats
Whats unique about me? I say it as it is. No running rings around people..thats makes me a good friend.
If an outfit makes you look fat, I will tell you. If you are in a abusive relationship I will tell you, if you want to know something I will google for you…not in 10 minutes.. IMMEDIATELY. If you can’t cook I will cook behind the scenes for you to achieve your goal. As a friend, I will do it all, be honest and always be there (except when watching True Blood)
That when I went to shanghai everyone in the street touched my face and when I was buying shoes so many people crowded around me that they had to call security, not bad for a girl who has been single for five years and asked on a date twice in 30 years .. Maybe I should move to Shanghai
How lovely to stumble on NQN! A blog that feeds the soul a little as well as the sweet tooth. My unique tit bit? I won the heart of my husband (20 years married) with a fabulous sac her torte. youth and beauty may fade, but the ability to make a great chocolate cake goes on. CathyM
A Modo Mio Coffee Maker would allow me to have one moment a day were everything is “my way”. As a stay at home mother to a toddler and infant I could not ask for a better way to start the day!
I love the fact that everyone likes their coffee differently and that coffee reflects our individual personalities. I’m a skim latte girl – sweet, soft, comfortable and luscious. My husband is a double espresso kind of guy – sharp, quick, strong and on the ball. We’re all so unique!
My parents before I was born, were convinced that I would pop out as a girl and had already planned to call me Pamela. Alas, I came out a boy and was baptised as a baby in a pastel pink girl’s dress that my parent’s had already bought in blind preparation. Thanks Mum and Dad.
I will start to have a panic attack if we run out of Coke Zero, Pepsi Max or bread. I cannot be without these things. Ask my husband how grumpy I get!
What is unique about me? Nothing terribly exciting but I can read a full size novel in less then a day, even with 2 kids.
My uniqueness for the day is that despite being a foodie, I love, love, love mashed potatoe from a packet, covered with squeezy bottle mayo. YUM.
The thing that used to be unique about me was my uber pale vampire skin. But now that Cate Blanchett and Dita Von Teese have made that fashionable, I’ll have to go with my little toes. They curve almost totally to the side when standing. I didn’t even realise was odd until I bought myself some Havs last summer and just about every conversation I had while wearing them began with “So what’s the deal with your toes?”.
Hi Lorraine,
Great blog, love to pop in each day for a squiz. Unique-ness? We all have it, and I am guessing that most of us aren’t truly aware of the most unique things about ourselves! Generally those things are ingrained, and seem normal! Which is beautiful really. But I can say that I have a burning desire to learn how to make everything (yes EVERYTHING) from scratch. The last year has been focused on bread, cheese, and beer. Ohh, and I can’t seem to get rid of my oven-that-still-works-but-doesn’t-really. It only works on fan grill, and is missing the second front piece of glass from the door. I can’t ditch it until it is dead beyond repair, only seems fair. Also, I kept the first kettle I ever bought until the little plastic viewing window popped out, and the kettle could no longer contain water, it was 12 and a half years old. RIP :0)
Happy Thursday!
Jess
PS. Said oven still turns out ace bread, go figure!
I can bend my thumb so that it touchs my arm. (hard to explain)!
I have ‘spurs’ in my back and neck and i’m only in my low 30′s
I’m me.
What is uniquie about me, is that I am a forensic cleaner and it is getting harder to find the right employee that can keep there morning coffee down on the job, maybe the Lavazza will work!
Out of a family of 6 members, I am the only one who is not lactose intolerant. Yay for ice cream! How does that work? Maybe my Dad was telling the truth and really did find me in a rubbish bin…
I like ice in every drink. Even the hot ones like coffee.
I can’t stand the smell of egg!! Any dish or plate that has had egg sitting on it, needs to be soaked in soapy boiling water to remove the smell – ewww!
I can smell ants
Uniqueness for the day, I love the smell of olives but really don’t like the taste. I still eat them though, I love the smell THAT much! Its something about the texture that repels me!
Bananas make my teeth feel funny.
I can touch my nose with my tongue ! I get all kinds of strange looks hahaha…
For the longest time my family and I thought I was cross eyed, but upon my first visit to the optometrist we discovered I simply had excess skin between my eyes, which made me look cross-eyed but didn’t impair my vision at all. Phew!
One of my goals is to watch every movie every made before I die. I know it’s not going to happen!
A little contradictory of me as I absolutely despise casinos, but avidly love to play lotto.
For Sunday: I’m in love with Gavid Rossdale from Bush. Always have been. Then he went and married Gwen Stefani. Boo :p
I’ve been on maternity leave for 6 and a half years apart from 2 stinks of 12 weeks each but I’m still employed there. Because I was pregnant or breastfeeding for 6 years straight I could only have decaf for all that time…..
This competition is pretty hilarious! The things we reveal when we’re unidentifiable….
My idiosyncrasy is that I prefer many foods raw rather than cooked: fish, beef, jelly solution, cake batter, and egg!
Lorraine, if you know of a rare mental condition that fits this symptom, let me know!
Sometimes when I am feeling nostalgic I will get a tin of condensed milk and make hot sweet, milky tea with it. It reminds me of camping trips as a child. Quite disgusting and unique for a discerning coffee drinker!
Weird things have a way of happening to me. Out of a bunch of people, I will be the one that gets bitten by the duck.
Whats unique about me…..hmm I can’t find anything unique – except to say I LOVE my coffee’s to the point of having done a course in “coffee making” however its still not as nice as one made by this beautiful piece of artwork.
When I’m concentrating on something, my tongue hangs out.I had some New Age spiritual guy tell me I was a lizard in my past life.
Is it unique for me to say that I spent one week in Paris back in 2006 and did not eat a single macaroon! It was all about the bread and frois gras for me.
pineapple makes my lips bleed
I specifically hate any day cream or moisturiser that is tinted or has a ‘hint of foundation’. That’s not a HINT it’s a LOT and it’s the wrong colour. Always too dark for my pale skin!
When I was five I was attacked by an army of bull ants that were camped inside of my scooter that I had abandoned in the corner of my backyard. I had to go to hospital.
I dream of waking up to a fresh latte…
I LOVE COFFEE AND WOULD PUT THIS PRIZE TO GREAT USE!
Wow. I love a freshly made cup of coffee and to own my own machine would be the best thing to own. great for when friends come over. instead of boring coffee in a jar, serve them fresh coffee with a beautiful aroma
What’s unique about me?
Just the fact that I am…ME!
I have no qualms about using the men’s toilets when the womens toilets are packed and the line is really long. There is never anyone in the men’s anyway!
I am probably the only person in my family that falls over on thin air, truly I can be walking down the footpath and all of a sudden I’m going head over bum. I twisted my ankle once another time I fell down the back steps, just for the fun of it NOT.
Unique about me, I have 2 different sized feet – A 9 fits perfectly for my right foot, but is way too big for my left foot!
I have had the same dream (about my teeth) about 20 times over about 10 years..
Me! I am unique – well we all are in our own special way. Me I look after my 3 little munchkins aged 1, 3 and 4 as well as working for our business helping sell boats and do the books! This requires a continuous supply of good coffee which I git addicted to at Uni. How else do you survive 4 years of accountancy – uugh!
a few years ago a car ran over my foot, and surprisingly..no damage.
I was born at 11.02am on 20 March 1977
Quite a challenge Lorraine!something that makes us different from all the others, other than our personality which defines us I’d have to say my fingerprints are unique to me.
I’m claustrophobic and don’t even like wearing sneakers or closed in shoes as my feet feel claustrophobic.
I am an incurable traveller; but one who doesn’t enjoy normal tourist destinations. If it’s been done before, it holds no interest for me. Earlier this year I visited a remote island with local people who invited us into their homes to eat, secluded beaches and amazing natural wonders; and not a tour operator in sight! Surprisingly, while there I found the best coffee I’ve tasted the world over. The only problem now is that I can’t get it anywhere else! I’ll have to go back…
I can cry whenever I like, always fool hubby!
I’ve taped off sections of my bedroom floor that I shove everything lying on it into. Looks phenomenally cleaner. Genius?
I really dislike crepes, but I love pancakes.
I’m married to an animal!! (well almost!
I don’t like macaroni cheese, at all. However I love macaroni pasta and I adore cheese sauce. Odd.
More then coffee, it is a way of life
I like to eat pineapple in the shower
I sneak feta from the salad bowl. shh! :p
I take all the ‘freebies’ from hotels etc (shampoo, coffee, tea)
I ‘think’ I’m adopted..but have never had the guts to mention it to my parents
I dont like Moisturisers with a “hint” of Foundation. Thats not a hint! It’s 5 hints shortly followed by the answer!
Whenever I order a coffee at a cafe I always ask for a strong or double shot soy latte. I can’t stand weak milky coffee! If I wanted a cup of warm milk I would have stayed at home
I am a chocoholic but I refuse to eat it if its been in the fridge. Seriously, even if its the finest swiss or the fanciest belgian, if its in the fridge, I won’t eat it!
I am a coffee nut. I will not think twice about driving an hour just to buy a good mug of coffee.
I am ticklish at the sides of my waist. Not on my feet though!
I’m an awesome hula hooper, and I’m even better when fueled by a good strong coffee.
I’m UNIQUE by the very fact that I am ME, a one off, there is not another ME, my DNA is UNIQUE, I am the ORIGINAL ONE AND ONLY ME.
And loving it!!!
hmmm Doing it my way and uniquely doing it has quite a ring to it. Coffee wise this machine looks brilliant would love to be able to wake up at 5 am every morning to my two toddlers and do it my way with a cup of coffee from this wonderful machine. Now on to the unique about me well, I love to cook everything from scratch, as busy as i am being a stay at home mum to my two little ones, I bake my own bread, make my own cheese and grow quite afew of my own vegetables and herbs, In a society(especially sydney) where evryone is out for a quick and easy way to get things done, i think i am definatly abit unique in the fact that i like to do it differently but the result is oh so much better. It would be great to win this and add making my own coffee to my little repotoire.
Hi Lorraine,
Kind regards, Lynette
something unique – albeit not very interesting – is that I have a birthmark on my right-hand ring finger which looks like a chocolate smudge!!
What’s unique about me is that I can drive ANYBODY mad within 10mins of meeting them. That’s just my over-enthusiasm for life, though . . . . not a bad thing!!?? and I do LOVE my COFFEE
oh hooray, so fun- thanks. Surely it’s unique to have Hunters and Collectors, Bananarama and Nina Simone all on my playlist…?
The only thing hidden about me is my ribs because I love to share – and what’s better for a lovely sharing gossipy session than a Lvazza home coffee-maker … and maybe if I could serve it without the cake and English scones I’d find those ribs again!
What is so special about me, well. My name is Nora and the letter “N” is written with veins on my both hands. One N in my right hand and the mirror image of that N on my left hand. I love coffee and would love to wim that machine. Sipping through a cup of coffe is like taking a trip to europe while sitting in your chair.
I have a fear of deep water, and hate the cold, but 20 years ago I married a brilliant bloke who is a champion sailor and skier.
So what’s our secret? We love each other. And we both love coffee!!
I LOVE trialling beauty products – it’s one of my favourite things to do!
Hmm, nothing unique about me this morning, I just need more coffee. I am one of those strange people who gets more tired, the more sleep I have! Its a direct result from having been sleep deprived for too many years!
Something unique about me…hmmm I am up at 12.30am entering a strillion competitions online instead of sleeping which is what I should be doing as starting work early in the morning!
I love Turkish Delight – everything and anything Turkish Delight flavoured I try!!
I’m really tall and my first car was a vw beetle – which i hardly fit in!
I just added raspberry cordial to my lemonade. Other people don’t do that, do they?
Not sure how unique it is, but all of my fingers on both hands are double-jointed – that is, I can lock my middle knuckles and look like I have spidery hands!
My generation, all teenagers seem to do is go out and get drunk. but really my favouritre thing to do is curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee
i guess that makes me unique, or older then my years
haha.
when i got to the manicurist i spend about 15 minutes agonising over a colour choice. once i’ve finally made up my mind i sit down, only to get decide on another colour at the very last second!
I’ve never had a massage or a manicure or pedicure. I read the above comment and that reminded me. I really want to, though!
I’ve never smoked – not even tried one, not one single puff…
I’ve lost 10kg in about 3 months
I have never won a Lavazza coffee machine,, and the bonus is I love cappacinos!
This looks amazing and would look even better on my kitchen bench
I think I must be the only Rachael Ray fan in Australia. Lame thing I know but thats all I can think of.
I am a mum of three: a set of twins and one single baby. My single baby was due on the twins second birthday but she arrived early, so I had three littlies under two years of age. Scary? yes. Hard work? yes. But with a coffee day life is pretty okay.
I like salted cashews
When I burn pancakes, i tell the kids it’s chocolate sauce I mix into the mix..
My hubby’s eyelashes are longer than mine!! (probably something more unique about him than me!)
I beat hubby at a Nintendo Mario Golf Tournament years ago! He’s a full-on gamer, too. Shhh.
When my darling Beagle boy, Rusty is snuggling with me on the couch I wait until he is fast asleep… and then I smell his paws. It’s addictive and weird but I can’t help it because everything about him is wonderful, sweet and loving.
I love boyzone and ronan keating, and have loved them since they first joined – I have every single and album ever released and have imported singles and albums not released in Australia! shh!
It’s been raining this Saturday morning. I’ve decided that since I’m not going out anyway, why not spend the day painting something unique. The theme is raindrops. I might give this a whirl and put some colour and imagination to this gloomy day. I might cook something unique for lunch – Chinese egg noodles with a mix of veggies in curry (with some potato salad on the side), that’ll keep me nice and warm inside the house (and save electricity bills). That’s life as a struggling artist. Sigh!
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
Another food uniqueness, I adore marshmallows and used them as a bribe with my eldest daughter when we were toilet training, now we have two people in our house who are completely addicted!
Have to admit my daughter and myself love hot chocolate more than coffee… though my hubby & son love coffee. Geee this would make amazing coffee for them and I bet it would even froth my chocolaty milk as well.
By the way I have been know to be a bit of a perfectionist so this would be great for meee.
Bye everyone.
If I think of something unique about myself, I’ll write it down so I can use it later for this competition. That’s dedication!
I am the perfect hostess, through random acts of combustion. Once, when lighting a candelabra for a dinner party, my false fingernail caught alight. Forever cool, (even when on fire,) I continued to light the candles of the table centrepiece, (6 in total), before blowing out my thumb nail, with as much sophistication as a woman on fire can. True story.
I’m going to the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival in the morning. Really looking forward to all the excitement and the wonderful splash of vibrant colours from the races to fill my generous palette
. This would give me something to take back home so I can paint something truly unique and colourful, a change from Saturday’s raindrops theme. I love the spontaneity of art and the ability to let my imagination go wild and express it my own way using a riot of vivid colours that come to mind!
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
I have the deepest belly button anyone has ever seen.
lol at feezfun’s bellybutton! I used to think the second knuckle down on his third finger on his right hand was the only bit of my son that resembled me.
I can snort cooked spagetti up my nose and pull it out my mouth…. YUCK!!!!
My unique talent….I speak fluent goat!!!!! Never met a goat I couldn’t have a lengthy discussion with. I’m happy to KICK off the conversation and they are always eager to BUTT in. Had a fascinating chat with an outspoken goat at Mangrove Mountain on Saturday. I’m not KIDDING!!!
What’s unique about me? I live an hour from the nearest town, (including 20km of 4WD-only dirt road!) and have done ALL of my 12 years of school by Distance Education!! AND I’ve been Dux of the school which I study through, EVER year of highschool!! I also think that’s a good argument for giving me this coffee machine because barista coffee is SO far away!!
Sometimes I skip dinner and will eat chocolate instead. Its because the palaver of making food for the children all day, by the time dinnertime rolls around I just can’t be bothered. Not so unique I think, just lazy!
Let’s talk about my unique hobbies (besides art). I collect Lucky Cats (also known as Maneki Neko). They’re really lovely and bring me good luck in my artistic endeavours. These cats occupy my little art studio, living room, bed room, dining room, even the shower
. Whenever I’m out shopping and come across one of these lovable cats, I just can’t help myself buying them. Each of them has special meanings (Luck, Health, Wealth, Love…) and unique facial expressions. They never fail to light up my day and bring a smile to my face (even when I’m suffering from “artist” block!)
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
I’ve burped about 5 times in my life…wish I did/could and when I do,i make sure i let everyone know about it.
I swear like a mother…. I swear a lot.
I still read all my old childrens storybooks, I adore Enid Blyton and when I had my first daughter I spent a lot of money buying the books that I loved as a child, she is almost at an age where we can start reading them together, I am so exited!
I love frogs. That is all.
I am the only person to ever cry at a pot of bolognese on national television. And i still get mocked at least once a week.
My mother still buys all my clothing, literally. And I am 34 and I live in a different country. What can I say, I am unique in that I honestly despise shopping!
I put ice in everything, even hot drinks such as coffee. I also put marshmallows in my coffee instead of my hot chocolate.
Something original… hmmm… Well, although most people these days do like to travel, I discovered that the best souvenirs, the hardest to lose, are tattoos. So now when I travel I try to get a tattoo instead of a trinket. I have a good start to my permanent collection.
I secretly love watching golf tournaments on the television with my husband! Well, he knows I do, but I can’t tell my girlfriends who are all golfing widows on the weekends!
I’ve had stitches in my head after falling and hitting my head on the wood which joins the wall with floor…
I have 1 black hair on my right arm near my elbow. All the other hairs are blonde.
I will only spend 30 minutes on cooking any single meal. Once I try spending 2 hours preparing a special meal and it turns out to be a disaster. But all my simple 30 minutes meal turn out to be great
I hate the smell of egg!! EWW!!
This is not unique, but I love good coffee, so I’ve roasted my own green coffee beans, in a hot air popcorn popper, to better understand how flavours develop, and the difference in qualities of the different bean origins.
The A Modo Mio would be good for the office, so I can have better coffee there!
I can do that thing Molly Ringwald does with her lipstick down her cleavage in The Breakfast Club. Uh-huh.
mmmmm…. real coffee!!
Something about me ~ I’d love to do a barista course! Not for work, just to make better coffee at home

At my house because I ‘make it MY WAY’…..
Coffee is the reason I get up each morning.
I use coffee like an over the counter drug now, one spoon for an ok morning, two spoons for a rough one, three spoons for a really bad day!
I’m obsessed with buying make-up off eBay!
It’s been a really busy week renovating my little art studio at home to make more room for the unique pieces of paintings I produced throughout the year. Gosh, I really need that Lavazza coffee machine after all I’ve been through – pressures from clients (deadlines!
), pressures from my landlord (rents due this month
), pressures from my parents (“when are you gonna find a husband?”
), even pressures from my Lucky Cats that I spoke fondly about this week (“Can we have more room please?!”)…..
My unique way of dealing with all the stresses of everyday life is to practice Tai Chi, something that my Nana taught me when I was a young girl. It gives me a sense of inner peace and tranquility, being able to breathe in and breathe out as I exercise my body and soul, to generate positive energy for my train of thought so I can stay focused in my art. Persistence is a virtue, it’s something I’ve always held close to my heart and that has allowed me to live my life, in my own terms, in my own ways…
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
I come up with “rules” for myself to follow, that I break in defiance the day after inventing them.
I can keep a straight face when tricking hubby with something, i might argue with him for 5 minutes (trying to push his buttons at the same time) then come out and say I was only joking.
I have succumbed to my poor taste indulgence tonight, its so cold and rainy. My embarrassing confession is I am drinking a hot chocolate with a spoon of coffee and a splash of Amarula. YUM!
oooh coffee! I’m a personal trainer and I’m NEED my hit at 6am.I actually set my alarm a little earlier just so I can get a hit before I train my first morning client. This machine would quite possibly change my life. I would never miss out. I’d be able to take a hit right before i leave the house. am i an addict???? No! maybe i’m just UNIQUE???
Something unique…hmmm. I’m Italian (married to an Aussie for 37 years)& I need my daily shots! “Espresso” that is!
I operate best after 9pm. I’m sincerely not a morning person.
I had to do IVF to have kids.
I love to Iron and this makes my wife very happy. I learned how to do it whilst in the Navy.
P.S Don’t tell anyone.
I can chop onions without crying.. not once.. I think that make me pretty unique
Something unique about me? I can pretty much sleep anywhere and anytime. On the plane, on the floor, grass etc. I think this is pretty unique!
It’s been a really nice two day break from work, thanks to the Melbourne Cup

While most of my friends were off to the races (punting on the wonderful horses), I stayed at home – resting after a hectic week juggling painting and my little art studio at home. Maybe I’m the ‘unique’ one in Melbourne doing something that’s totally not Cup related
Most importantly, this break gave me a chance to do a bit of reading (‘Claude Monet: Life and Art’) and reflect on life. I’ve always had a thing for Monet’s artwork. ‘Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies’ is my favourite painting. It captured the true essence of the peace, beauty and tranquility of his garden. It’s 111 years old, can you believe that? I’d really love to visit The Met in NYC one day and see for myself this perfect masterpiece.
This brings me to my unique philosophies to life…
Live life with passion- and patience; Always stay true to your dream. They are two key ingredients to work towards that dream! It would be a hard task to being like Monet but I’m up to the challenge – ‘never say never!’
Lorraine, you’re a true testament to these qualities through NQN and the wonderful work that will soon grace your new book. Congratulations on your new book and thanks for giving your readers a chance to share in your passion and this fabulous and fulfilling food journey!
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
I hate coffee. I dislike it’s aroma, it tastes like smoke and it looks like dirt. My husband drinks it by the bucket load. We’re total opposites that have been married for 22 years, that’s unique! Opposites attract!
Coffee put’s me to sleep. It has the opposite effect on me. I am very unique. I still love a cup though.
I am addicted to comps! just like I am addicted to a good cup of coffee.
I buy magazines but never find the time to read them. I have to relax more!
I broke my collarbone as a kid and it never ‘fused’ properly so now it looks ‘wonky’
I have a pathological fear of ice-cream sticks. Seriously. I will eat a magnum but as soon as it gets anywhere near the stick, I hand it over to my husband. He could really terrorise me if he wanted to, even someone licking an iceblock stick in front of me makes me squirm. I am trying to train my four year old not to!
I am a laser engineer by day and cheese maker by night. I work in the defence industry but my real passion is cheese; how many people can go home at the end of the day and make some of their very own fetta for that nights dinner!?
Ive never been to sleep without brushing my teeth – even as a teenager out clubbing i’d come home and brush my teeth regardless of the time.
I grew up with 7 sisters as the only thorn amongst beautiful roses.
As a result, I probably enjoy gossiping and shopping more than most men I know
I can do mental arithmethic very quickly. This is a party trick I always pulled out for my friends. I am getting a bit slower now without practice but still I think this is quite a unique skill.
I am a playground hater. Yes, mother of two and I can’t handle the playground. Its a terrible confession to make but in the interests of honesty… I can think of a million things I would rather be doing than standing behind the swings. But, I persevere in order to create the childhood memories my girls deserve!
I am very persistent. I never give up.
I am a loyal lover. of coffee
Im left handed but can sort of write with my right hand too. It’s not perfect, but doesnt look too bad.
I am always able to predict winners of reality TV from the first episode (only quality reality tv show though!). At first I thought it was just luck but after 10 different shows, I am guessing I have good talents. I would not however bet my entire fortune on this unique “skill”
Congratulations on your blog which I have just this minute discovered whilst searching the internet for more information on Lavazza coffee machines…I have just returned from the Salone del Gusto, the Slow Food biennial show in Torino, which is the home of Lavazza coffee. I have enjoyed many fabulous espressos while I was in Torino..Lavazza of course.. and have longingly looked at many of these fabulous snazzy little Lavazza machines in stores over there and would love one for home. Let’s hope they become one of the most necessary household items and a great Christmas present!!
My fiancé and I decided we’d rather get married in Las Vegas by a dude dressed as Elvis so we cancelled our wedding and booked our tickets.
The only downside is that we also cancelled the registry so we won’t be getting an espresso machine, unless my wedding plans are unique enough!
I have to bite my tongue a lot when other people’s kids are rude and being little terrors. I always want to yell as they are so annoying!
I think its quite unique to love the smell of my husband’s armpits as much as I do! Yup, love it, its not like he has been working in the sun all day and stinky, just that manly smell, love it!
I stumble out of bed, i’m not a pretty sight. Never quite functioning and not real bright. My instant coffee isnt real flash. I really need something with a little pizzaz. Now if i had a Lavassa A Modo Mio coffee machine. Then my mornings would start with the best caffeine.
I’m 45 and looking forward to Menopause!
I have two toes joined toes on my left foot.
As a child I was told this was a symbol meaning I’d one day be reponsible for keeping the family together.
My hair gets really knotted and tangled after I wash it. Yes Im using conditioner. The hairdresser said hers is worse but I think she was just being nice. Theres no way anyone elses hair gets as tangly as mine!
Everyday I am discovering something unique and new about myself. For example, the time when I thought I would not have the courage to go overseas to study alone, the time when I thought I would never be able to bear the loneliness after a break-up and the time when I though I would never be able to pick myself up when I fail my exams (multiple times!). SO I am constantly surprised at my own determination and passion for life. For that I think this is something unique about me.
I’ve kept a diary ever since I was 8 years old. My Nana introduced me to the joys of writing and keeping a record of my life in a diary. It’s like my reflection, detailing every single unique experiences and moments of my life, just like my paintings which I use as a way to express my thoughts and feelings. As I grow older, I became more creative in the way I express myself. Through the guidance of my teacher Lena, I started to learn to sketch and paint to uniquely capture the things I experience that could not be easily expressed in words, and that’s when I realized my love and passion for the arts. My diary now comes in the form of a picture book which contains bits and pieces of art work, sketches, writings, poetries, calligraphies, etc. It promotes my creative freedom of expression, helping me to refine and improve myself as an artist / painter.
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori

My unique way of enjoying coffee is that I love a shot of hot black coffee over vanilla ice cream and rum soaked sultanas….. heaven in a bowl.
What’s unique about me? Well I just found out that I have a really mild, insignificant variety of epilepsy that does not need medication and is very unlikely to get worse. What’s that got to do with coffee? Well my very infrequent episodes leave me feeling a bit yuk and coffee makes me feel better. Cool and unique hey?
I am simply me that unique in so many ways I can’t begin with just one!!Exept I like to wish on a star everynight!!
I actually believe my singing in the shower is not that bad
I am so determined to avoid getting cavities, straight after I eat anything sweet I brush twice, floss and indent. I also rinse my mouth with water after drinking fruit juice. (I should be in a Seinfield episode!)
I have an extra bone in my head but I think that’s just my coffee radar bone hence the reason I am constantly drinking coffee wherever it can be found!
Maybe the way I like to line up things…canned items in the pantry, glasses and coffee cups, empty wine bottles, linen etc. It drives my husband nuts … but I’m so very ORGANISED!
I can’t use a piping bag to save myself. Even though I really love cake decorating.
It’s been a pleasure being able to share something unique about myself in this space. I really enjoyed sharing them as much as I enjoyed reading all the other amazingly unique stories.
One last thing that is unique about me – my name Mori. It means ‘forest’ in Japanese. I’ve no idea exactly why my parents chose this name. I guess it suits me in a way as I love nature and being free, and I find great inspiration when I don’t confine myself to anything in particular, especially in my artistic endeavors. It opens my mind to a whole new world and possibilities, and allows me to see the beauty and uniqueness in things in my everyday life.
Cheers and take care,
Uniquely Mori
I convene a school tuckshop and I have over 50 mums who volunter because I spoil them and serve Lavazza coffee!
I posted the above comment at 11.07pm Queensland time, does that count?
My pre school aged children have both begun their love affair with coffee by enjoying a babycchino with us everytime we go out for a coffee. There us nothing cuter than a three year old with a coffee mo and a smile!
Darn… missed this comp by a day! And the market to market!
Oh well, this won’t happen again – I promise!
Congratulations Sonya, a very great and unique entry
Cheers,
Uniquely Mori
