Win a Picnic for Two Worth $185 From The Sydney Picnic Co.!

sydney picnic co

You know why I look forward to Spring every year don’t you? Apart from the much welcome warmth, it also means that it is picnic time! And a really lovely way to have a picnic without lifting a finger in the kitchen is with the Sydney Picnic Co. They will deliver to you to your house or to a picnic location, a lovely basket of goodies or you can pick it up from their location in Woollahra. Started by Natalie and Simon, both from the U.K. they will hand make a picnic for you complete with a personalised menu with your name and date. Gentlemen, if you’re thinking to propose I think this would be a great way to do it (you just worry about picking the biggest diamond ok? ;) ).

sydney picnic co

I found it hard to choose on a favourite – there are four ranging from the Brit Pic at $115 for two to the Spanish at $185 for two so they just gave me a few hand picked goodies from each. Mr NQN and I took our picnic to nearby Centennial Park and we opened up our picnic there.

sydney picnic co

Our menu included marinated Ligurian ‘Taggiasche’ olives; slow roast tomatoes, basil, toasted almonds, marinated Meredith goat’s cheese and 20 year balsamic; Australian King prawns with gremolata and aioli; fregeola with chorizo, cherry tomatoes, green beans, preserved lemon and mint; medjool dates stuffed with gorgonzola dolce and toasted walnuts; Sonoma Ciabatta, Valrhona chocolate pots with Armagnac soaked amaretti biscuits as well as a bottle of Antipodes sparkling mineral water. It was all beautifully packaged and we got proper glasses and environmentally friendly plates and cutlery and packaging.

sydney picnic co

Would the food be as pretty as it looked?. The fregeola sings with fresh flavours, the slow roasted tomatoes are moreishly luscious and the mejool dates stuffed with sweet gorgonzola and toasted walnuts are swoon worthy. And that’s before we’ve even dug into the chocolate pots with crushed amaretti biscuits and chopped strawberries. How I must find a recipe for this!

sydney picnic co

Thanks to the Sydney Picnic Co. we are giving one lucky NQN reader a $185 gift voucher so that you can go on your very own picnic and eat yourself happy on a delectable picnic spread. To  have a chance to win this gift voucher, all you have to do is visit their site and tell me which of the four picnics you would choose and why. Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at Midnight AEST 13th November, 2010. You can enter this once daily. This competition is open to anyone in Australia but can only be redeemed in Sydney (non Sydney readers, you can always use it if you visit Sydney!) or those that can pick up the hamper from the Woollahra location.

**The winner is: Tara M.!***

Best of luck!

Love,

Lorraine

This is such a great service! I love their styling, they’ve really paid attention to the detail so you get your money’s worth! I would LOVE to try the Mediterranean picnic, the selection of food sounds just mouth watering!

I haven’t been on a picnic in ages!

As the daughter of two expat Brits, I have the love of a good picnic flowing through my veins, so how could I say no to the absolutely scrumptious Brit Pic? My eyes are watering at the thought of that tangy pickle atop perfectly crumbling pork pie pastry. Quiche lorraine is a picnic MUST, and the thought of roasted chicken with minty peas conjures images of my grandmother’s South London cottage on Sundays. As for the cheddar, nothing is more quintessentially English than a hillside picnic of sharp, generous chunks of cheddar inside a good quality baguette, followed of course by Wimbledon special! Please, please choose me so that I can treat my new summer love to this simply gorgeous spread!

The Italian Picnic had me at Valrhona Chocolate pots! Yum. I chose the Italian picnic. This is such a neat idea. x

I can’t go past the quiche Lorraine (hehe) in the Brit Pic! I love a good quiche lorraine and everything in the Brit Pic really appeals to my taste! :)

  • 6. GourmetGetaways | October 9th, 2010 at 7:47 am | #

Wow!! This is obviously something we will have to do the next time we are in Sydney. I love the Mediterranean hamper! It sounds delicious, all my favourite foods and flavours, eggplant, artichoke, goats cheese, olives, Lamb Kefthedes. Not to mention the fruit and cheese and lovely peaches. It sounds like the Greek Food Festival all over again and I love it.

  • 7. Renee | October 9th, 2010 at 7:49 am | #

Definitely the mediterranean one for me – it sounds delish!

  • 8. buggy | October 9th, 2010 at 7:57 am | #

I would have to say the mediterranean! It has goats cheese and dates, my two favourite things! yum =)

  • 9. Super Sarah | October 9th, 2010 at 8:10 am | #

Oh wow, I am super homesick for London right now, it would HAVE to be the Brit Pic. YUM! I think this is a fabulous idea and I might suggest to my husband that instead of dinner out for his birthday at the end of this month, we get a picnic and explore somewhere in Sydney we haven’t been to yet.

  • 10. Mindy | October 9th, 2010 at 8:15 am | #

I’m not eligible for the contest (the whle living in Canada thing) but the picnic selections sound amazing!

  • 11. jess @ fushmush | October 9th, 2010 at 8:21 am | #

I’d have to say the Sydney Picnic. I’m such a sweets person so they had me at Pavlova!

  • 12. Belinda G | October 9th, 2010 at 9:04 am | #

So lovely! There is something so special about a picnic- particularly when someone does the hard work for you. I think I would have to go with the Sydney picnic- as King Prawns and Chorizo sausage in the same meal would make my husbands day!

  • 13. Cate | October 9th, 2010 at 9:27 am | #

That’s easy – I would love the Italian Picnic – I am dreaming of all things Italian at the moment – hoping and praying that I can go there for my 50th next year – but if I can’t an Italian picnic would be the next best thing!

  • 14. Julia | October 9th, 2010 at 9:31 am | #

it’s really hard to choose but I would go for the Mediterranean Picnic, I love lamb kofta and when I read Valdeon cheese I feel in love!
    The baskets are so pretty!

  • 15. Veena | October 9th, 2010 at 9:37 am | #

The Italian picnic hamper for a romantic night under the stars at the moonlight cinemas. Nothing says romantic like chocolate and italian ;)

  • 16. Danielle | October 9th, 2010 at 9:39 am | #

I would have to choose the Brit Pic, simply because it’s food that I never cook and I love eating food that I don’t have regularly! Being of Italian decent we eat Italian and Mediterranean all the time!

  • 17. David | October 9th, 2010 at 9:55 am | #

Spring is also my favourite, warm enough to sunbake in the sun with the girlfriend and it’s before all the bugs (flies) are all over the place!

The Mediterranean is one that is standing out to me at the moment. Eating lamb sounds so perfect on a sunny day at a picnic, need I add that eggplants are my favourite vegetables..

P.S the gf’s birthday is near the end of November – double ticks!

  • 18. Eva | October 9th, 2010 at 9:59 am | #

I’d choose the Sydney picnic – could there be anything better than a picnic of Ligurian ‘Taggiasche’ olives; feta dip with grissini; Australian king prawns with gremolata and aioli; fregola salad with Sonoma ciabatta; and a mango and passion fruit pavlova; finishing off with a rich King Island Dairy brie, moist and creamy Bass Strait Blue and deliciously nutty Heidi Farm Aged Gruyere with biscuits, somewhere on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour on a brilliant summer’s day under a cerulean Sydney sky; or on a star-lit night for Opera in the Park in the Domaine.

  • 19. Liny | October 9th, 2010 at 10:04 am | #

I would love to have the Spanish Picnic please….

  • 20. Cakelaw | October 9th, 2010 at 10:04 am | #

Love the bright red picnic accessories. I’d choose the Sydney picnic – I can’t go past king prawns with mango and passionfruit pavlova!

  • 21. Lin | October 9th, 2010 at 10:09 am | #

It was a toss-up between the Brit Pic and the Mediterranean. After much pondering, the Med won me over with its sheer array of variety – so much deliciousness in one pretty package!

(I reckon there should be a BYOB option: Build Your Own Basket..I’d toss in the Pork Pie with the Med…lol)

  • 22. Shirley@kokken69 | October 9th, 2010 at 10:12 am | #

Oh, how romantic! I wish our weather here would be more comfortable for outdoor picnics… And Lorraine, I do agree with you – this is a superb way to propose :) … I wonder if I could win this…then I can use it during my next trip to Sydney!

  • 23. jess | October 9th, 2010 at 10:22 am | #

I would love the Mediterranean picnic. The lamb is perfect for my boyfriend and I love love delicious eggplant. It’s good to have something for everyone.

  • 24. Wendy | October 9th, 2010 at 10:34 am | #

Brilliant concept, and the food looks fantastic!

I’d love the try the Mediterranean picnic – and treat my husband for his 40th birthday in November!

  • 25. Julia | October 9th, 2010 at 10:37 am | #

I wish I could win but since I don’t live in Australia, I know I am not eligible to win it. I just want to say that it is a wonderful way to enjoy a spring day with your sweetheart.

  • 26. Jasmyne | October 9th, 2010 at 10:41 am | #

I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been on a picnic :( Always wanted to do one for my birthday, but it’s in July and no-one would come, lol. The Mediterranean Picnic would be fantastic, what caught my eye was the Medjool dates and the fatoush! Yum!

  • 27. Vanessa Gregory | October 9th, 2010 at 11:06 am | #

Che buon’idea! The slow roasted tomatoes with balsamic in the Italiano picnic is calling to me! Chocolate is always the best way to finish off a meal, and even better when consumed at a picnic!

  • 28. Lauren | October 9th, 2010 at 11:25 am | #

Oh my! The concept of picnics are so romantic; sharing delicious food with a loved one while admiring the splendours of nature… all options sound wonderful but the chocolate pots have caught my attention, so it would have to be the Italian picnic :)
    Cheers

  • 29. anthony | October 9th, 2010 at 11:35 am | #

I would definitely choose the Italian Pack. I wish they included Wagyu Bresoala because it would make the hamper totally complete.

I love the idea of having an anti-pasto in the park so that why I would go for this one

    Love your work Lorraine

    Anthony

  • 30. E! | October 9th, 2010 at 11:37 am | #

Wow this idea is awesome! I always want to go on picnics with my boyfriend but I’m always too lazy to actually organize one and make food. :P

I think I’d go for the Italian picnic… but my decisions is based solely on the chocolate pots. As great as the cherry dessert looks, in the battle of chocolate vs cherry, chocolate wins every time!

  • 31. Sarah | October 9th, 2010 at 11:46 am | #

This is great! It’d definitely have to be the Italian picnic… Thinking of doing this for my bf and my 2nd anniversary in spring :)

  • 32. fatima | October 9th, 2010 at 11:48 am | #

  • 34. Steph | October 9th, 2010 at 12:01 pm | #

The Mediterranean picnic sounds incredible – I love chargrilled eggplant, and combined with feta and pomegranate I have to say that dish has managed to drag my eyes from the Italian picnic’s chocolate pots :D

  • 35. anna | October 9th, 2010 at 12:03 pm | #

I will choose the Sydney Picnic because I love prawns.

  • 36. Pamela | October 9th, 2010 at 12:03 pm | #

I’d love to send my parents on a picnic to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary – nothing too fancy though maybe the Sydney picnic would be a goer – perfect to eat at a romanitc hideaway….

  • 37. Jasmin | October 9th, 2010 at 12:13 pm | #

Oh, I think it would have to be the Brit-pack. The Scottish-expat partner would love this. Competition or no, I think this is in his future.
Such a brilliant idea for those amongst us who are working non-stop and find it hard to find the time to put together a picnic pack for a nice day away from the hustle and bustle.
I love a good picnic, and these will be great at the Westmead Childrens Hospital Teddy Bears Picnic on October 17th!

  • 38. rhiannon | October 9th, 2010 at 12:26 pm | #

The Italian picnic is my favourite just because i am a chocoholic!

But because I would love to surprise my amazing boyfriend I would pick the Brit Pic. He is British and loves all the foods that are included. Not only would he love the food, but it would remind him of home and bring back all his happy childhood memories. (And I can always bring some chocolate along to go with the strawberries!)

  • 39. Tracy Barker | October 9th, 2010 at 12:28 pm | #

My husband and I always come to Sydney for business in February and usually end up eating too much average food at venues we are visiting for work. I can image a wonderful Sydney pinic, with a cold bottle of SSB to accompany the prawns, overlooking the harbour. It would make up for some of the average food and long days of the rest of the trip.

  • 40. Lisa Hong | October 9th, 2010 at 1:06 pm | #

That is incredibly cute and brings back the whole ‘outdoor-sy’ feel of lunch dates once again :)
I personally would love the Italian picnic and would find it hard sharing all the gourmet delights such as antipasto and chocolate. Maybe it’ll end up being ‘Picnic for One?!’ :p

  • 41. Mae | October 9th, 2010 at 1:19 pm | #

Soo romantic..and I love their packaging!

The Italian,a bit of something for me and him =)

  • 42. Samantha | October 9th, 2010 at 1:45 pm | #

Definitely the Mediterranean! Fattoush salad, lamb Kefthedes and chargrilled baby eggplants? Perfect for a summer picnic on the Cockatoo Island :)

  • 43. Katrina | October 9th, 2010 at 1:48 pm | #

This is such an awesome idea – I love the packaging and the way it’s presented so beautifully!! I would definitely choose the Brit Pic – reminds me of my wonderful summers spent in London and picnic-ing in Hyde Park!!

  • 44. june | October 9th, 2010 at 1:50 pm | #

mm the brit picnic seems nice. i love the idea of the pie! i like anything with pickles!

DEFINITELY – the Italian!! I don’t think I could ever pass up on Valrhona-anything being offered! And how tantalising does the sonoma CIABATTA look!!

  • 48. Liv | October 9th, 2010 at 1:59 pm | #

What a fantastic idea!! All the hampers look gorgeous!!
I’d have to choose the Italian Picnic – I would give it to my parents, who have been married 30 years this year… seeing as my dad’s half-Italian, and both of them speak Italian fluently, I would guess that they’d love this hamper!! :) Plus, I don’t think they’ve been on a romantic date for a while. :)

  • 49. Steph | October 9th, 2010 at 2:06 pm | #

The mediterranean picnic had me. Ligurian olives, lamb, pommegranites and fattoush – close you’re eyes and you could be on that exotic getaway that you’ve never quite made it to. I agree – the perfect date picnic hamper.

  • 50. polkadottuille | October 9th, 2010 at 2:11 pm | #

What an awesome idea-a ready made picnic hamper!
I would have to go with the Mediterranean – the stuffed artichokes, the grilled eggplants and to top it off the chocolate pots and the poached cherries sound to die for!!

  • 51. B i l l y | October 9th, 2010 at 2:13 pm | #

A personalized ‘Picnic for Two’ sounds delightfully English
It’s a pleasure looking at wonderfully handcrafted menus with such delish
I can’t help expressing my fave using some freshly squeezed creative juices
My choice HAS to be ‘The Sydney Picnic’, all quintessentially Aussie dishes
I can imagine myself enjoying Spring, just sitting on freshly cut lawns
Tasting a multicultural spread, topped-up with uniquely Australian King prawns
Ligurian ‘Taggiasche’ olives, Fregola and chorizo, such lovely splash of flavours
It even has Mango & passion fruit pavlova :-) , served tastefully in my favours
Love the way Simon and Natalie combine food and leisure with such delectable passion
Thanks to you Lorraine, for bringing this gift of Spring and pastime to our attention!

  • 52. Bel | October 9th, 2010 at 2:59 pm | #

The Sydney picnic sounds amazing. I can’t imagine the happiness in my mouth while eating the fregola and the prawns, mmmmm!

  • 53. Kelly Foster | October 9th, 2010 at 4:18 pm | #

Definitely the Mediterrean picnic. All those scrumptious flavours, plus I’m off to the Greek Islands next year (yippee!) so a picnic would be perfect way to explore the cuisine.

  • 54. Ej | October 9th, 2010 at 4:58 pm | #

Gosh I love that look of brown paper boxes and utensils. So.. organic.
I would choose ‘The Mediterranean’ picnic. And to add to the indulgence, the additional cheese course would be a lovely way to finish, perhaps with some dessert wine.

  • 55. sarah | October 9th, 2010 at 5:16 pm | #

Oh wow – the Sydney picnic sounds amazing. King Prawns….. Pavlova, how delicious. I can’t wait to have our first picnic of the season.

  • 56. BuBbles | October 9th, 2010 at 5:23 pm | #

Oh yum, the Sydney Picnic looks delish to me.

  • 57. Jo Anne | October 9th, 2010 at 5:27 pm | #

The Mediteranean selection to celebrate our 29th Anniversary before my better half heads overseas for a month.Haven’t had a picnic on our own since before the kids were born!!

  • 58. Kelley | October 9th, 2010 at 5:35 pm | #

Freaky coincidence was when I was reading this I thought ‘damn, I couldn’t do it but I could enter for my brother and sister in love…’ and just that minute they called!

    Weird.

And I couldn’t possibly choose, they all look so delicious and I would have to leave it to my sister-in-love who has impeccable taste.

  • 59. Chris | October 9th, 2010 at 5:56 pm | #

The Mediterranean picnic has all the flavours I love from artichokes to yummy dates .. very delicious. The styling is beautiful too as you eat with your eyes first and all the picnics look beautiful !!

  • 60. Gummi Baby | October 9th, 2010 at 6:17 pm | #

This is one of those ideas that make you wish you’d thought of it first! Organising weddings aside, how wonderful to be involved in bringing happiness to the world, a couple at a time. I’d have to have a tailor made picnic as I can’t eat some of the nuts but the Mediterranean is definitely a good starting point. I like the variety and it’s all healthy! Count me in! :D

  • 61. jen | October 9th, 2010 at 6:20 pm | #

The charcuterie plate and the choc pots of the Italian picnic won me over. I love their packaging too!

  • 62. nuta | October 9th, 2010 at 6:50 pm | #

Being half Greek I would choose the Mediterranean Picnic. I have introduced my boyfriend to these foods and he loves them now, after only sampling typical aussie fare! When you can have a picnic you know the warm weather is here. I’d love to reign in Spring with a picnic at Centennial Park! We could take our bikes too and cycle afterwards!

  • 63. Paulines | October 9th, 2010 at 8:11 pm | #

How yummy, I would choose the the Brit Pic, only because hubby is very fussy with his food and would only like this one. My hubby and I just love a picnic but our two children always groan when we are just having a picnic around the local lake in Canberra. We just had our 22nd wedding anniversary and didn’t really celebrate. How cool would it be if we could have a weekend in Sydney. Thanks for the opportunity to ‘having a go’.

  • 64. Bria | October 9th, 2010 at 8:30 pm | #

The Sydney Picnic for sure! Not only for the name of course.. the menu sounds most appealing to me. Although I wouldn’t say no to those Valrhona chocolate pots…

  • 65. Jane | October 9th, 2010 at 8:37 pm | #

They all sound delcious! Would have to chose the mediterranean for my first picnic. I love all the packaging. It is gorgeous!

  • 66. Sarah C | October 9th, 2010 at 8:54 pm | #

Out of all the picnics, I am sold by the Sydney picnic. Pavlova was the word that got me :) . Having a picnic would be the perfect way to celebrate our 13th anniversary at our favourite harbourside park.

  • 67. Su-yin | October 9th, 2010 at 9:57 pm | #

Oh, I love picnics and this one looks fabulous. I don’t think we have anything like that here, how ironic seeing that the founders of the company are both from UK! :P Love that there is a personalised menu in the basket. Makes it seem that little bit more special.

  • 68. mary | October 9th, 2010 at 10:11 pm | #

Dang. That Mediterranean picnic sounds fabulous. I adore poached cherries!

  • 69. KT | October 9th, 2010 at 10:11 pm | #

Wow, the menus are all fabulous! But if I had to choose, it would be the Italian picnic. I’d bring along some Moscato to have with dessert.

  • 70. InTolerantChef | October 9th, 2010 at 10:14 pm | #

I would just ask them to put together a delicious gluten free picnic for me. I am sure they would have no problems with such a fantastic selection of dishes! Yumm….

  • 71. Naomi | October 9th, 2010 at 10:25 pm | #

what a great idea! the mediterranean one sounds fantastic! i’d love to try it!

  • 72. sally | October 9th, 2010 at 11:11 pm | #

Wow! These picnic hampers look wonderful! Do you know if there is a similar company in Melbourne, Lorriane?

  • 73. Edward | October 9th, 2010 at 11:28 pm | #

How can anyone go pass the Aussie picnic with the delicious prawns and iconic pavlova!!! Imagine having that at Bradfield park on a sunny Sunday….simply bliss…

I’d definitely choose the Sydney picnic for me :)

  • 74. Tmum | October 9th, 2010 at 11:46 pm | #

My soon-to-be 9 year old told us he wants to save us money (awwww!!!) and wishes to just inviting 1 or 2 of his best friends for a FISHING PARTY (instead of all the boys in the class). We all love olives, greek foods, chargrilled vegs & sourdough breads, so the Mediterranean picnic hampers would be perfect birthday gift for our son’s special day.

  • 75. Barbara | October 10th, 2010 at 12:16 am | #

    I wish I could!!!

  • 76. Soy @ honeyandsoy | October 10th, 2010 at 1:12 am | #

I would definitely go for The Mediterranean picnic! I’ll sit at Watson’s Bay, pretend that I’m in the Greek Islands. Then lay back and think, hang on, Sydney is so beautiful, why go there when I can enjoy great food and views here!?

  • 77. Judy | October 10th, 2010 at 2:00 am | #

the italian picnic – i NEED to try the chocolate pots *drools* =)

  • 78. Lisa KK | October 10th, 2010 at 2:20 am | #

I envy you, Lorraine! You, undoubtedly, have the best job in the world!

Didn’t even know you could order a picnic, just had a look @ The Sydney Picnic Co. site and would say, heck, I’d try the Mediterranean because:
    1) I heart Mediterranean food
    2) I would love to try the Medjool dates with Valdeon cheese
    and 3) .. the voucher is worth $185 isn’t it? ;)

P.S: do you have another Faye Cahill story coming up? Love to see it

  • 79. Kit Kat | October 10th, 2010 at 3:10 am | #

SCENE 1: Somewhere Grassy Overlooking Sydney Harbour, Some Future Date in 2010.

We sink peacefully into the silky grass, surrounded by a wall of crinkly lemon-coloured carnations. Blowflies hum vacuously in the balmy air. The grass is full of the whisper and scurry of small lives. The harbour lays undulant before us, its surface of silver reflections folding over one another like the linking of fingers.

My companion and I read each other’s thought bubbles. We delve in. Luscious roast artichokes, which burst in our mouths, filling them with golden cheese. Fresh fattoush salad, suspended in a light lemony glaze. Swollen Medjool dates, oozing with sweetness.

Full and satisfied, we turn to watch the sun set. Cottonball clouds streak the sky, their underbellies glowing with a pinkish hue.

That would be a dream come true.

  • 80. catty | October 10th, 2010 at 3:36 am | #

This is such a good idea!! One thing I miss about Sydney (or Australia in general) is the great picnic weather and green parks. Someone in London, even though there are huge parks here, it’s just not picnic material! *yum*

  • 81. Meg | October 10th, 2010 at 8:07 am | #

If I was suddenly allowed to eat anything I wanted to, it would have to be the Italian picnic. But as I am on a severly restricted diet I would have to change so many items it wouldnt be worth it lol.
If by some miracle I win this prize, I will be happy to watch my best friend & my daughter enjoy it….. after all a picnic is more about the company, not so much the food(for me anyway)
    Cheers Meg

  • 82. Suzanne | October 10th, 2010 at 8:13 am | #

ME again, just coming back to reiterate how much I would dearly love this picnic! I’m a student working retail in every spare moment to pay the bills, trying to find time for my wonderful yet equally busy love, who somehow manages to make time for me every day even if it is only for a coffee and a cuddle. I would absolutely love to be able to treat him in this way, he is one of the greatest foodies I have ever met and would be so unbelievably chuffed with the Brit Pic! If I could lavish such delights as succulent pork pie, decadently creamy quiche lorraine, roast chicken cooked to perfection, and let us NEVER forget the vintage cheddar, I would do so all the time. This could be my chance to show him how much I truly appreciate him, and see him eat like the king that he is! =)

The Sydney Picnic for me as it has just the right balance of delectable picnic ingredients, lovely Australian prawns and Pavlova, a must for our Australian Summer. :-)

  • 84. Kiaraleigh | October 10th, 2010 at 11:19 am | #

wow soooo hard to pick just one! A picnic would be a much apprecaited break from work and life! I think the mediterranean picnic would be the one that I would have to go with but I love the idea of being able to mix and match picnics and would love to do this taking elements from the Sydney and Italian picnics to create something truly yummy for me and my bf to enjoy

  • 85. AR | October 10th, 2010 at 12:13 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,
    wow … amazing.
The Italian Picnic looks gorgeus … can’t wait for my chance to get my hands on this one if I win … yay …

  • 86. Anna Johnston | October 10th, 2010 at 12:20 pm | #

What a great idea, I love a good picnic, I’d love the Brit pak.., how much fun would it be to dress up in a frock & hat & be served a delectable picnic huh.

  • 87. Kelly Wilson | October 10th, 2010 at 12:28 pm | #

I really can’t decide between the super scrumptious Brit Pic and the tantalising Sydney Picnic! My mouth is watering just imagining the delightfully delicious fare! An impressive service that delivers exceptionally presented quality mouthfuls! I love it!

  • 88. Jacqui Lagaluga | October 10th, 2010 at 1:38 pm | #

    What a wonderfully Unique idea.

My hubby turns sixty on the first of December,
To win a Sydney Picnic he’d would always remember.

It’s so quintessentially Summer with prawns and pavlova,
And an experience he would think of over and over!

I’d bring a bottle of champagne or two,
And off to Lane Cove we’d head without too much ado!

And enjoy the gift of each other on this very special day,
And toast our future life together ,
    Come what may!

  • 89. deeba | October 10th, 2010 at 1:38 pm | #

I love your posts Lorraine…they are filled with infectious energy! FUN!!

  • 90. Jessica | October 10th, 2010 at 2:38 pm | #

Funny that you’ve written an article about Sydney Picnic Co because I came across the site the other day unwittingly and thought these hampers were a scrumptious idea! The Italian picnic really caught my eye, as I love all things Italian and would imagine that eating these delectable cold meats and cheeses would take me back to my foodie heaven holiday travelling around Italy a few years ago.

  • 91. Anita | October 10th, 2010 at 2:58 pm | #

I would choose the mediterranean picnic but would make a special request to swap the lamb for the Valrhona chocolate pots since I don’t eat red meat but am a massive chocoholic!

This is a great idea for a business!

  • 92. Sarah | October 10th, 2010 at 3:49 pm | #

Come to think of it… the Brit Picnic might be better… the boy loves his meat and home-y dishes :)

  • 93. Kate Lloyd-Jones | October 10th, 2010 at 4:21 pm | #

Oh my god, that looks just…. delicious. Mouthwatering good. What a fantastic idea!!
I’m absolutely torn between the Sydney and the Italian picnics but have to say the Italian for that gorgeous-sounding risoni. And proscuitto…. yummmm!!

  • 94. Alex | October 10th, 2010 at 4:21 pm | #

Move over High Tea!! Picnics are just probably the only way to dine with friends in Spring.

Picnics take me right back to one of my favorite images from The Wind In The Willows of Toad holding court at a picnic attended by all the counties most esteemed members – red tartan rugs, pots of jam, spreads and spreads of luscious foods – These hampers, all four, are just exquisite and completely pay tribute to the lost art of a proper picnic!

I’d have to opt for the Sydney Picnic however would have to try and swap the Pavlova for the Poached Cherries :) and I would definitely be adding in a cheese course! What picnic is complete without a cheese moment to begin?!

I am so impressed with the care and love shown in the presentation of these picnics – good find Miss Lorraine!

  • 95. Margs | October 10th, 2010 at 4:35 pm | #

The Italian picnic. I had risoni on the plane from Rome to Athens and it was the first time I tried it and had no idea what it was until now – loved it. Cheers. If I win, I will post on fbook my chosen picnic location so anyone envious can watch on with watering mouths.

  • 96. Phunk | October 10th, 2010 at 4:35 pm | #

All of the picnics look sensational but the Italian sounds fantastic with those chocolate pots! Wish I was in Sydney but I have friends there i’d be happy to donate the prize to. will definitely let them know about this place. Love the red & white spots on the decorations too :)

  • 97. Cat | October 10th, 2010 at 4:42 pm | #

I’d have to go for the Italian picnic just to get a taste of those chocolate pots!

  • 98. Belinda | October 10th, 2010 at 5:05 pm | #

Italian picnic, I love Italian food and chocolate too!

  • 99. Debra Kolkka | October 10th, 2010 at 5:15 pm | #

  • 100. Debra Kolkka | October 10th, 2010 at 5:20 pm | #

Oops! I put my comment in the wrong spot. I like picnics that someone else prepares.

  • 101. Kathryn | October 10th, 2010 at 5:26 pm | #

The Italian Picnic sounds to die for… I’d love to try it!

  • 102. Howard | October 10th, 2010 at 5:28 pm | #

I’d go for the Italian picnic – what a great selection of yummies – perfect for Centennial Park!

  • 103. Patch | October 10th, 2010 at 5:30 pm | #

My pick is the Sydney Picnic, everything sounds so refreshing the way Spring is and I love the look and sound of the fregola! Yummo

  • 104. Caryn | October 10th, 2010 at 5:46 pm | #

Oh this looks gorgeous! Such a shame that I am not in Sydney!

  • 105. joe | October 10th, 2010 at 6:35 pm | #

sydney picnic for me! since I missed out on the sydney breakfast on the bridge, i would like to enjoy my very own one with australian king prawns and the pavlova!! always wanted to try going for a picnic but oddly, i have this grass phobia! Will make sure i get a nice mat if i ever get to go for one.

  • 106. little miss food | October 10th, 2010 at 7:34 pm | #

The perfect treat now that the warm weather has arrived – whiling away the afternoon with The Mediterrenean Picnic, by the water and grazing on the olives, artichokes, eggplant and dates as they transport me back to Europe. Bliss.

  • 107. MaidInAustralia | October 10th, 2010 at 8:05 pm | #

Oh I would go for any of these picnics, but as I do not live in Sydney, I cannot compete. However, my secret ingredient for picnic happiness, is to always share it with someone you love!

  • 108. Jennifer Richardson | October 10th, 2010 at 8:07 pm | #

What timing! I have just been musing about picnics and how much I would love to try the Sydney Picnic Co – I ADORE beautifully packaged food!

When I stumbled on their website around Valentine’s Day this year I thought the Sydney Picnic would be ideal – olives, chorizo and Aussie flair for my American NB! I’m still waiting to try it – this could be my chance!!

  • 109. Super Sarah | October 10th, 2010 at 8:31 pm | #

Wow, what a lot of entries so far. This time I am sticking to my original choice, the Brit Pic all the way!

  • 110. Alex | October 10th, 2010 at 8:49 pm | #

Oh wow, what a wonderful prize! I have been agonising over which picnic I would choose, which is not surprising as it took me a few days to come up with my perfect ‘last meal on earth’ (I didn’t want to leave anything out!

For me, the Mediterranean picnic would be perfect for a few reasons. My wonderful bf, who is my favourite picnic buddy, is vegetarian and there are many great choices in there for him, which, in a happy coincidence, leaves all the lamb for me :D . The date and cheese plate sounds wonderful, as do the poached cherries. I’d love to try the poached cherries as it’s something I’d never think of, but sounds so good! Lastly I think the Mediterranean picnic sounds so good because it offers lots of delicious meals which are perfect for sharing – the best part of picnics :)

  • 111. suze | October 10th, 2010 at 11:07 pm | #

    brit pic for sure.

    I love your picnic basket…! That’s so sweet and romantic :) !

  • 114. Louis | October 11th, 2010 at 12:54 am | #

I’d definitely pick the Sydney picnic! My partner and I have been trying to go on a picnic for a while, but whenever we both find time to go – it rains! (We were going to go on one tomorrow, but alas, it’s raining again). I didn’t know about the Sydney Picnic Co. until I saw this post, intending to cater it entirely myself. The Sydney Picnic sounds so great and fresh and using some great Australian food and produce, which is what I love so much about it. Winning this would be the motivation I need to just make our long-planned picnic happen!

  • 115. Peter | October 11th, 2010 at 2:00 am | #

I would choose the Itallian picnic. It sounds simple and delicious. It won’t be messy to eat and I can imagine how picture perfect it would be to share this with a special someone in the warm Australian sun.

  • 116. Melissa | October 11th, 2010 at 2:23 am | #

The Mediterranean basket looks so inviting – lamb, sourdough and cherries – perfect combination for an early Spring picnic under a leafy tree.

  • 117. Petra | October 11th, 2010 at 8:41 am | #

The Mediterranean as I love the sound of everything in it especially the eggplant and Medjool dates.

I also like the fact that you can tailor your picnic as I am coeliac so would have to do so!

  • 118. Jade | October 11th, 2010 at 9:20 am | #

The Mediterranean – the Roast artichokes stuffed with goat’s cheese sound delicious. My sister got given a voucher for one of these picnics as an engagement present – what a fantastic idea!!

  • 119. Laura | October 11th, 2010 at 9:43 am | #

These pinics all look awesome! But I’m always sold when see the words chorizo & prwns so I would have to say the Sydney pinic would be for me, although I do have a soft spot for Mediterranean food.

  • 120. Cris | October 11th, 2010 at 10:02 am | #

I’ve had the Sydney Picnic Company website bookmarked on my browser for a month or so now, since I woke up one morning with a fantastic idea for a business – dial-a-picnic! A quick google search later revealed The Sydney Picnic Company, who not only source the best produce and make divine salads and deserts they also present hand-made themed bespoke hampers. Amazing attention to detail and a hard act to follow! If I could take one of their hampers for a spin it would be a ‘Sydney’ but with those fabulous Valrhona choc pots. Delicious!

  • 121. Chanel | October 11th, 2010 at 10:06 am | #

I love this company! What a gorgeous idea, and beautiful packaging :D

I would choose The Italian Picnic. My partner and I love Italian food, and everything in this picnic sounds delicious! I can picture us enjoying this at Centennial Park after we get back from our honeymoon late November :D

  • 122. karen | October 11th, 2010 at 10:16 am | #

I would love to surprise my fiance with the mediterranean picnic as he adores this type of food and I have always promised to bring him on a picnic!

  • 123. RedDoll | October 11th, 2010 at 10:47 am | #

I’d definitely pick the Italian picnic as the chocolate pots sound divine!!

    Hi Lorraine,
I would love to enter my daughter, Justine, in the Picnic Co hamper competition. I have drooled over their website and don’t think I could pick a specific hamper. They all look and sound amazing! My daughter lives in Bondi and can be contacted [if necessary!] on 0061420881947.
    Thanks for the opportunity.
    Fingers crossed – Maureen.

  • 128. Amanda | October 11th, 2010 at 12:57 pm | #

What great timing! My boyfriend was just rolling his eyes at the prospect of going through all the trouble of a picnic. He thinks its very contrived.

Maybe this will help change his perspective! The Brit Picnic sounds right up his alley. :D

  • 129. Barrine | October 11th, 2010 at 1:21 pm | #

Well, its a hard decision. When faced with decisions like these I do what any normal person would do – choose one of each. The same goes for shoes, if you cant decide which colour you like best, buy them all. All I need do is bring the chilled Champagne.

  • 130. Corrie | October 11th, 2010 at 1:33 pm | #

Thank you for introducing us to this fantastic company. As a newbie to Sydney I’m looking forward to a summer full of picnics all around the city. I would love to take The Italian Picnic to the Domain for the Opera or Tropfest… so yummy

  • 131. Fifi | October 11th, 2010 at 1:34 pm | #

I’d choose the Italian picnic and take it to the park across the road from our house in Leichhardt + soak up the culture-infused neighbourhood. Ever since we moved into the area we’ve been meaning to do this. If we win the picnic voucher we’ll have no excuse to put it off any longer!

  • 132. Geisha | October 11th, 2010 at 1:39 pm | #

Has anyone out there been on an elimination diet? My husband and I are on one and it’s the PITS….potatoes, rice, rice milk,lentils..ugh! To celebrate the end of that horrible era I’d go all out and choose the mediterranean picnic as it looks like it’s packed with the flavour that we’ve been missing!

  • 133. Wendy | October 11th, 2010 at 2:51 pm | #

The Sydney picnic sounds fantastic – cannot go past a good mango pavlova. Yum!

  • 134. Laura | October 11th, 2010 at 3:13 pm | #

I am a sucker for Italian charcuterie. It’s pretty much the reason why I can never be a vegetarian. Therefore it’s the Italian Picnic for me! And I know just the spot in the Botanic Gardens to enjoy it.

  • 135. lindsey clare | October 11th, 2010 at 3:27 pm | #

Brit pic! Mostly because I am a cheese fiend and can’t go past a good cheddar. or mustard.

  • 136. Kate | October 11th, 2010 at 3:28 pm | #

The ‘Sydney’ Picnic would be my choice for a perfect sunny spring day near the botanical gardens. I’d have to bring along my Englishman of course, to make it seem like part of a tour of Sydney.

  • 137. Laura | October 11th, 2010 at 3:58 pm | #

Definitely the Sydney Picnic – It sounds delicious! The only problem would be convincing my non romantic husband to actually go on a picnic :)

  • 138. Reemski | October 11th, 2010 at 4:19 pm | #

The Mediterranean picnic would be my choice, cause those dates sound AMAZING…

  • 139. Melissa | October 11th, 2010 at 4:35 pm | #

    Definately the Italian Picnic….yummmmmm!

  • 140. Sara @ Belly Rumbles | October 11th, 2010 at 4:46 pm | #

Oh the Italian picnic just sounds devine. I can see myself at a lovely spot overlooking the water, gorgeous spring day the one I love, and a bottle of beautiful wine.

Okay, stopping the day dreaming now.

  • 141. Beverley Templeton | October 11th, 2010 at 5:53 pm | #

A picnic in Sydney would be the perfect reason to schedule a long overdue visit to my big sister, Shirley (yes, that would have once made her Shirley Templeton – our parents had a sense of humour). Should I be generous and order the Brit to satisfy my English brother-in-law? Nah, I’m an Italophile/chocoholic so the Italian menu would definitely be my choice.

  • 142. rhianna | October 11th, 2010 at 6:45 pm | #

the Mediterranean picnic sounds divinely delectable and super summery. plus i’m all for more choices and more flavours!

  • 143. Ladybird | October 12th, 2010 at 7:24 am | #

The Meditteranean looks superb – full of delicious vegetarian goodies perfect for a picnic :) Love the basket and content styling too – looks like the quintessential picnic hamper!

  • 144. Nic@diningwithastud | October 12th, 2010 at 10:02 am | #

Wow Lorraine it looks so great! Love the way its presented as well.
I would love the Mediterranean pack. Such great variety and I do love some good Kefthedes :)

  • 145. Food Tragic | October 12th, 2010 at 10:08 am | #

The Meditteranean would be my pick, mainly as it has the most things I haven’t tried before. And, hey, a picnic is supposed to be an adventure,….

  • 146. Angelika | October 12th, 2010 at 1:47 pm | #

Love the Italian, love the mediterranean but would pick the Sydney because the food sounds full of life and sunshine!

  • 147. DaveWA | October 12th, 2010 at 3:41 pm | #

This sounds like such a dream come true. How would you ask for anything more in a picnic basket?

Although every picnic looks fantastic on their site, I would have to choose The Italian Picnic, the chocolate pots were the deciding factor. =]

Thanks for the review NGN, I’ll definitely be putting my order in when I come to Sydney.

  • 148. JO | October 12th, 2010 at 4:05 pm | #

Like letter writing, the subtle art of the picnic is a tradition that shouldn’t be forgotten!

  • 149. Sarah | October 12th, 2010 at 4:29 pm | #

This would make a wonderful gift for my brother and his partner who live in countey NSW. They are total foodies and travel to Sydney as often as time allows to ‘get their fix’.
I guess I have to leave the choice of picnic up to them!!!

  • 150. Vici | October 12th, 2010 at 7:39 pm | #

I so love this company. First I’ll see whether i’ll be the lucky winner of this competition. And just in case I’m not, I’ll think of a beautiful spot (tourist-free, opera house close,…), grab a blanket and order the Sydney Hamper for a true blue experience. Great idea and gorgeous designs!!!

  • 151. Aleah | October 12th, 2010 at 9:43 pm | #

I love picnics. All the hampers sound wonderful but I’d have to choose the Italian Picnic because of the delicious sounding Valrhona chocolate pots.

  • 152. Tia | October 13th, 2010 at 4:46 am | #

They all look superb but I’d have to go the Italian picnic! I can’t get past the slow roast tomatoes and I love my chocolate!

  • 153. sYspira | October 13th, 2010 at 7:24 am | #

    The Italian, most definitely.

Valrhona chocolate & prosciutto di Parma?
    *melts*
    ZOMG!

  • 154. Sarah | October 13th, 2010 at 11:00 am | #

For me and my Husband, the Sydney picnic! we love prawns, olives, and especially pavlova.

Best taken on a sunny summers day near a body of water and gorgeous view. So sydney! So swoon.

I would love to have this voucher so that we could do something sweet and romantic on our upcoming 2nd Wedding anniversary – preferably where we got married up on Palm Beach.

  • 155. Alexis | October 13th, 2010 at 4:20 pm | #

Olives? Prawns? Chorizo? PAVLOVA?! If I could summarise my food personality in four words, they would be it. The Sydney picnic looks amazing and would be my winner without doubt. Now to drop the not-so-subtle hints…

  • 156. Corrie | October 13th, 2010 at 4:41 pm | #

It’s the complete package – beautiful food, beautiful presentation. The Italian Basket for me

  • 157. LimeCake | October 13th, 2010 at 9:26 pm | #

The Mediterranean sounds awesome! I’d definitely pick that!

  • 158. Jen | October 13th, 2010 at 9:36 pm | #

Gosh, that looks so good! I’m a sucker for brown paper anything, and when it comes with that fabulous looking food – well, I think I really must book a trip to Sydney!

I’d have to choose the Mediterranean picnic, because I was hooked by the descriptions of the roast, stuffed artichokes, the medjool dates, and the poached cherries. And I can’t say no to sourdough. Oh, and just all of it!

  • 159. Juwo | October 13th, 2010 at 9:50 pm | #

Was so excited when I saw this! First heard about The Sydney Picnic Co through SMH’s Good Living liftout; it’s always lovely to see pictures of their bespoke picnics.

I’d go Italian just for the Valrhona chocolate pots!

  • 160. Super Sarah | October 14th, 2010 at 1:20 pm | #

  • 162. Anita | October 14th, 2010 at 3:53 pm | #

I couldn’t go past the Italian picnic. Everything on that list was just sensational – especially the sound of the dessert. Today has been the perfect picnic weather… if I wasn’t at work…

  • 163. Jenny | October 14th, 2010 at 6:31 pm | #

mi scusi, where is the choice? No foodie would pass the Italian offering, all that wonderful finger food with the thought of finger licking as a bonus and then the dessert, be still, my stomach

  • 164. googlefood | October 15th, 2010 at 12:27 pm | #

Has to be the brit pic – being british. Picnic to be washed down with lashings of pims and to be taken sitting under a tree to avoid the rain- yes that’s a brit pic!

Oooo The Italian picnic please, I just can’t go past Valrhona chocolate!!!

  • 166. Cath | October 15th, 2010 at 4:54 pm | #

I’d choose the Sydney picnic, mainly because it’s got so many things I’ve never heard of before, and I love trying new things. Sonoma ciabatta anyone?

  • 167. Super Sarah | October 15th, 2010 at 10:15 pm | #

  • 168. Jessica | October 16th, 2010 at 3:19 pm | #

The Italian Picnic, because I can’t afford a degustation tour in the Italian countryside, but I can taste, close my eyes an imagine.

  • 169. Stacey | October 16th, 2010 at 4:06 pm | #

As someone who has always wanted to visit Italy and taste the delectable delights this country has to offer, but have never quite made it, I would definately have to pick the Italian Picnic. My wife & I would pick the ITALIAN Picnic set..
4 yrs ago we had a wonder holiday near Sienna, and are always looking for an excuse to reminisce, plus I just bought a Veuve CLiquot champagne hamper, and the two would make for a wonderful long-lazy-lunch…

What a fabulous idea! The perfect picnic without the hassle preparation! Definitely would have to pick The Sydney Picnic for a pleasant Spring day. Who could go past some delicious prawns and pavlova and so gorgeously presented too!

  • 179. MelbaToast | October 20th, 2010 at 9:57 am | #

Decisions Decisions! I would just have to go for The Mediterranean. This is the sort of food that really appeals to me and is just made for sharing…on a picnic blanket of course! I’m dying to finally try Fattoush salad! Totally drooling.

  • 180. Kim | October 21st, 2010 at 4:05 pm | #

I think I would have to choose the Mediterranean Picnic because the Roast artichokes stuffed with goat’s cheese sound absolutely delicious!! YUM!

I never knew this service existed but its such an amazing idea – perfect way to celebrate both my 3yr anniversary and finally finishing my teaching degree!!

The Italian Picnic or any other picnic, as my other half would like to go on a picnic and I lack the prowess to make one.

  • 182. Katherine | October 21st, 2010 at 7:20 pm | #

I would love to try the Sydney picnic. Especially with mango season upon us… the Pavlova would be to die for.

  • 183. Belle | October 21st, 2010 at 10:24 pm | #

Quintessential Sydney: sitting in McKell Park, overlooking the harbour on a blue skied December day, eating prawns from the Sydney Picnic Co’s Sydney Picnic. And the icing on the cake? Pavlova with summer fruit.

  • 184. T Hasted | October 23rd, 2010 at 11:14 am | #

I’m going to avoid the Mediterranean Picnic because it would surely end in kefthede combat. In the past, there has been more than one prosciuto free-for-all, so the Italian picnic might not be the most romantic idea. Thankfully, my fiance isn’t keen on prawns, so that would be a solo race. Yep, the Sydney Picnic looks like the least hostile of the lot!

  • 185. Super Sarah | October 23rd, 2010 at 1:51 pm | #

Mmmm, Brit Picnice all the way!

  • 186. CHERZ | October 23rd, 2010 at 3:08 pm | #

    Geee these hampers are amazzzing!
But its Brit Pic for me but I must admit I would love the Mango & Passion fruit Pavlova included as well. Hey everyone loves a good pav. I can picture it now mango&passionfruit pavlova topped with marinated strawberries&vanilla cream ohhh I think i’ve gone to heaven.

  • 187. Super Sarah | October 24th, 2010 at 10:42 pm | #

Still obsessing about the Brit Pic! No changes there…

  • 188. Nat | October 24th, 2010 at 11:19 pm | #

Take 1 SYDNEY PICNIC CO’S very delicious MEDITERRANEAN PICNIC. Definately add their CHEESE COURSE and pack some chilled bubbles. Lay out a soft rug on a warm balmy Sydney night at Mrs Macquaries Chair -Sydney’s most picture perfect and romantic spots to watch the sun set and the city lights illuminate. Top it all off with the love of your life by your side. A full heart and satisfying all our guilty pleasures. This is my wish for our upcoming 26th wedding anniversary in November.

  • 189. Sue | October 25th, 2010 at 11:01 am | #

Of course it has to be a Sydney Picnic – it’s all about US, isn’t it?
Fresh Sydney flavours in the freshest of produce on a fresh Sydney spring day – no worries at all!

  • 190. Super Sarah | October 25th, 2010 at 7:40 pm | #

I finally got to the South African butcher today! Wheeee! Its been weeks but I got my boerewors fix! Now I just need my Brit Pic fix!

  • 191. Super Sarah | October 26th, 2010 at 10:26 pm | #

I am loving strawberries right now but never eat them with anything so luxurious as a vanilla cream! Mmmmm, Brit Pic please!

  • 192. Super Sarah | October 27th, 2010 at 11:11 pm | #

I have been craving scotch eggs now, thinking too much about the pork pies in the the Brit Pic!

  • 193. Super Sarah | October 28th, 2010 at 9:34 pm | #

I think I am actually dreaming about pork pies now! Crazy, the best cure would be a beautiful spot, I am thinking somewhere private, maybe in amoungst the hillocks at the Newington Armoury and a delicious Brit Pic to share with my husband, its his birthday soon!

  • 194. Bridget kelly | October 29th, 2010 at 12:44 pm | #

Everything sounds absolutely scrumptious! But you just can’r beat a Pav! Syndey picnic.

  • 195. Steph | October 30th, 2010 at 10:50 am | #

I have to say the Mediterranean picnic – all of them look absolutely amazing though! :D

  • 196. Andrea | October 30th, 2010 at 2:24 pm | #

What a great idea these are! I think I’d choose the Italian one, although I’d be very happy with any one of them.

  • 197. Gella | October 31st, 2010 at 9:07 pm | #

While this may sound funny with the divine inclusions in the more expensive options on the site (and what a beautifully made site it is!) I quite like the look of the “Brit Pic”. I like my picnics in equal parts rustic and delectable!

  • 198. Super Sarah | October 31st, 2010 at 9:09 pm | #

I am obsessing about picnics now, thanks Lorraine for your competitions, they keep inciting all sorts of food cravings for me! This weekend we did a road trip and I made us a gourmet picnic, nothing like the Brit Pic I am lusting after, but delicious none the less!

  • 199. Super Sarah | November 1st, 2010 at 10:25 pm | #

Scotch eggs, prawn cocktail crisps, a can of Irn Bru and a pork pie. Oh, don’t forget the singed snags from cooking them on a disposable bbq, thats a real British picnic. Put me down for the Brit Pic please! PS am so thrilled about your book news, can’t wait to get a copy!

  • 200. Natalie | November 2nd, 2010 at 8:51 am | #

Definitely the italian picnic! Deep down inside this true blue aussie is italian, im sure of it.

  • 201. Tina | November 2nd, 2010 at 12:00 pm | #

Having just come back from Europe for 6 weeks visiting many countries and experiencing their culinary delights;all we wanted when we came back was to have some fresh, beautiful Aussie produce like the Australian King prawns with gremolata & aioli. And, how can you beat the Mango & passion fruit pavlova. “The Sydney Picnic Basket” is “Yummy for us!” Thanks Lorraine!

  • 202. Jo | November 2nd, 2010 at 5:06 pm | #

I’d love to try the scrumptious Italian picnic in perfect Sydney picnic weather with some ice cold champagne.

  • 203. Super Sarah | November 3rd, 2010 at 11:21 pm | #

I think I am going to have to buy a pork pie this week. I seem to remember my local deli counter sells them. Hmmmm, craving that Brit Pic!

  • 204. Super Sarah | November 4th, 2010 at 2:41 pm | #

mmmmm, although its cold and wet outside, I am still in the mood for a picnic. Brit Pic to be exact!

  • 205. Steph | November 5th, 2010 at 12:17 pm | #

Definitely the Mediterranean picnic – it looks sooo amazing :D

  • 206. Super Sarah | November 5th, 2010 at 10:21 pm | #

All this talk about the Brit Pic has got me thinking about my favourite drink for the English summer, a long, cold glass of Pimms with lots of ice, mint, strawberries and cucumber. Delicious!

  • 207. Stefanie | November 6th, 2010 at 9:04 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,
Everything looks delicous but being a Sydney girl I would love to try the Sydney basket (especially the prawns!). Hubby has been working ridiculous hours of late so would love to surprise him with a relaxing picnic (he’d love the Fregola).
    Thank you

  • 208. Stephen | November 7th, 2010 at 1:22 pm | #

I see from the other comments that I’m not the only one with this thought but I’d love to surprise my wife for our 3rd anniversary on the 17th Nov. It’s hard to choose since it all looks so tasty but I think we’d go with the Mediterranean Picnic… or pick and choose from each of them since they all look so delicious.

  • 209. Vanessa | November 7th, 2010 at 7:54 pm | #

the Italian Picnic would be my selecion. I have been looking for a special treat for my very caring and supportive boyfriend who has really been there for me through tough times and i want to say thankyou. This would be so lovely.

  • 210. Super Sarah | November 8th, 2010 at 9:34 am | #

Its a gorgeous day, sunshine, warm breeze, clear skies, the perfect day for a picnic. A Brit Pic to be exact!

  • 211. Dimity | November 8th, 2010 at 12:24 pm | #

    So prefectly romantic!
I would love ‘The Italian picnic’. I would take it down to Blues Point on Sydney Harbour with my Paul and watch all the boats passing by. So gorgeous that im sure it would be the start of a lovely tradition.

  • 212. Louise | November 8th, 2010 at 2:44 pm | #

Very difficult choice but I would choose the Sydney Picnic because the dishes just sounded fab and I can’t go past a pavlova! Actually as I am in Perth the picnic would not be for me but for my baby brother to take some special girl out for a day of romance!

  • 213. BonniesCouncil | November 8th, 2010 at 3:59 pm | #

The Brit Pic! How could I not choose that when the second item is Quiche Lorraine! Plus my hubby dies for good old roast chook. Hehe, they certainly all sound scrumptious though and I’m super excited to enter as I now have the opportunity to come to Sydney as I just got Oprah tickets – yay me!

  • 214. Zoi | November 9th, 2010 at 9:22 am | #

    Buongiorno:)

I would definitely love to sample the Italian picnic. I have been wanting to go back to Italy for years, but alas hasn’t yet come to fruition. Perhaps an Italian feast like this would butter the other half into a trip of a lifetime. How could he say no? Valrhona chocolate pots with Armagnac soaked amaretti biscuits…. yum.

    Buon appetite

  • 215. Lindaf | November 10th, 2010 at 10:21 am | #

Hi, I would love the Sydney Picnic, just for the pavlova dessert! I adore pavlova, and my last two attempts at cooking it have never been truly successful!

  • 216. richardkate | November 10th, 2010 at 5:29 pm | #

The Sydney picnic would be totally apt as next month will see my first visit to Sydney – indeed, my first visit interstate. Us Victorians are hard to uproot!

  • 217. Caroline Kelly | November 10th, 2010 at 5:33 pm | #

I love a picnic. You can invite as few, or as many, people as you choose. There are some fabulous sites around where people can relax and chat as the wish.

This is an especially wonderful prize in the lead-up to summer.

  • 218. Katie&Wags | November 11th, 2010 at 3:32 pm | #

Crikey! Major nom-noms for the sound of the Sydney Picnic. Roast chook, prawns and a Pav? How totally bonza!

  • 219. Super Sarah | November 11th, 2010 at 9:40 pm | #

I wish the rain would stop so I can enjoy my Brit Pic please!

  • 220. Karen B | November 12th, 2010 at 1:39 pm | #

My eyes glaze over as I picture the perfect romantic picnic – my husband and I relaxing and chatting as we indulge in a scrumptious Brit Pic and take in the beautiful sights of Sydney Harbour. If only some instructions could be thrown into the picnic basket for my husband so that he could learn how to be romantic!

  • 221. Belle | November 13th, 2010 at 4:32 pm | #

oooh, without a doubt it would have to be the Sydney: Sonoma ciabatta [in my top 5 fav breads ever!],olives and prawns… a winning combination!

  • 222. JUDITH MARTIN | November 14th, 2010 at 1:37 pm | #

This sounds perfect I may even get my husband to come on a picnic with this all the hard work is done

  • 223. Theresa Ryan | November 15th, 2010 at 8:21 am | #

The Meditteranean all the way. I’m soooo gonna steal a whole bunch of their ideas. Thanks for the great site! I’ve faved it!

  • 224. karen | November 15th, 2010 at 9:55 am | #

    Are You Being Served?:
SLOCOMBE: Well, you are what you eat.
MR. LUCAS: How long have you been eating sour grapes and ugli fruit?

Sydney Picnic company are the new L’oreal; helping us become more beautiful, so my Brit background has me in a quandry. I do love a good Quiche Lorraine (but the M&S standard is hard to beet) i will drown myself in strawberries & creme if its a disappointment.Should I go Aussie and embrace my new home and country? Go Itallian and reminisce of wandering around the Spanish steps in Rome with slices of dripping pizza down my arm or opt for Spanish who brought me heaven in the form of my first taste of saffron from Paella…oooh MR HUMPHRIES help! lets go Politically Correct and be severed the Mediterranean and not upset the EU balance!

  • 225. Paula | November 15th, 2010 at 11:38 am | #

Would love to take my mum on the brit pic would bring back happy memories for me and her

  • 226. betty threlfo | November 15th, 2010 at 3:09 pm | #

The sydney Picnic. Never been there for one, but coming across in feb. from w.a. oh that I could be so lucky, and kill two birds with one stone as they say.

  • 227. Julia | November 16th, 2010 at 9:37 am | #

I must enter this competition again, this picnic basket is such a treat, I love the packaging of the food and I would go for the Italian picnic this time: I’ve read the word “coppa” and it reminds me of large charcuterie platters eaten in the countryside in the summer in the hills near Piacenza. My boyfriend is from there and it would be a great present!

  • 228. Kim Brekelmans | November 29th, 2010 at 5:47 pm | #

Sydney Picnic had me wishing for prawns and all things Aussie.
