Win 1 of 6 Six Packs of Anathoth Jams!

I’m one of those crazy people that like grocery shopping and the kind of products that I really like buying and eating are the ones that are essentially like what you would make at home, except with the bonus of not having to make it at home yourself. And by this I mean products without added numbers, preservatives or anything else added to them that will allow them to sit on a supermarket shelf for years. Good for the supermarket and manufacturer but not good for us.

Anathoth is a New Zealand brand that my friend Queen Viv first told me about. She was rapturous about their products and when I visited there last year I brought back some of their products. What I liked was the fact that they only used ingredients that one would use at home in their products. The jams contain just fruit and sugar and nothing else. Yep, no pectins, preservatives, colours or flavours just the two ingredients that we would use when we make a jam.

Thanks to Anathoth, six lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win a box of six Anathoth jams! The six pack box contains six delicious jams including an apricot jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jam, three berry jam and their latest rhubarb and red berry jam which has rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries and sugar and has a gorgeous dolloping consistency-perfect for Mother’s Day breakfast or scones and all of the jams have just the right amount of sweetness to them. For a chance to win this all you have to do is tell me about your favourite jam flavour! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 8th of May, 2011. You can enter this  competition once daily and it is open to anyone in Australia.

***The winners are:

Glenda A. from Qld

Catherine D. from NSW

Stefanie L. from NSW

Barbara S. from Vic

Imogen M. from Tas

Pam W. from NSW***

Best of luck!

Lots of love,

Lorraine

    Hello Lorraine

Isn’t this rain in Sydney today tragic!

I love a good strawberry jam and grocery shopping. I found peanut butter Lindor balls the other day and it cheered me up no end.

Favourite jam flavour, now that’s a tricky one! I love trying out new and unique jam flavours whenever I come across them, though I do always come back to Strawberry jam.

Strawberry jam and cream cheese on toast is a little slice of heaven, yum!

  • 3. Annie | April 16th, 2011 at 8:04 am | #

Yum, reading the word “scones” are now making me crave it! Warm, freshly baked scones with cream and strawberry jam will be a treat for todays morning tea!

My favourite jam flavour is definitely apricot and ginger jam!! Its zingy with the perfect amount of acidic flavour and the lovely sweetness of apricot. It has the lovely jelly-like texture of ginger too! how can you go wrong, yum!

The Rhubarb jam sounds fantastic. I do love a good Fig & Almond jam with light and airy scones, warm from the oven, & a good dollop of clotted cream.

Real fruit what a bonus from the past, when fruit trees where in every backyard and home preserves were made in most kitchens. Welcome back.

Homemade jam is great, but if I can lay my hands on high quality, no additive, pre-made anything I will often buy it – just ‘cos I’m lazy, really.
I made blackberry jam a few weeks ago and it really was just the bomb – even if I do say so myself!

These are the jams my Gran would have loved! She passed away three months before i had my first child, who is nearly 17:)
But not a day goes by without thinking of her, especially when jam, cream and a BIG scone is concerned!
    Thanks New Zealand

My favourite jam is plum. Not any old kind though! I love the Polish kind as it is quite sour & reminds me of my childhood as my father used to make it. Its yummy on everything & now my son is hooked too!

Apricot Jam is for celebrations. Be it jam and toast on a cold winter’s morn or apricot baked ham at Christmas, apricot jam creates family memories of times of happiness.

  • 20. MissJane | April 16th, 2011 at 9:36 am | #

My Nana’s home made apricot jam wins hands down. When my sister and I were young we often stayed with my grandparents on the farm. On a winters morning the door on the wood stove would be open and my sister and I would sit toasting our bread on a large toasting fork. Once toasted then spread with butter and Nan”s Jam. YUM YUM!

Back in the 60′s we had acres of blackberries growing wild across the road from our house in the Dandenongs. Our hands were purple from picking them most days after school, even our dog ate them off the bushes. They were sweet and huge these days they’d be called organic – the term hadn’t been invented then. We ate them fresh for as long as we could and our family made enough fabulous blackberry jam to last till the next season. The words blackberry jam takes me back to a time of innocent fun, more appreciated now than then.

  • 25. Minnyme | April 16th, 2011 at 9:50 am | #

Mmm, the rhubarb and red berry jam sounds good.

My fave jam flavour without a doubt is black cherry, love those huge chunks of juicy black cherries. I havn’t made it myself though so myself buying rediculously expensive french cherry jam in a very small jar. Now that my two small children have started eating jam too I think the Anathoth sized jam pots will be a far more practical option!

  • 26. Lyn | April 16th, 2011 at 9:50 am | #

Favourite jams? anything Anathoth make! For years, everytime we went to NZ we brought back a suitcase full of their jams, so was delighted when some of their jams became available in Sydney. Have never tried the Rhubarb and Red Berry flavour which sounds to die for. My mouth is watering at the thought of two favourites in one jam. Yum.

  • 27. Melody | April 16th, 2011 at 9:51 am | #

Apricot Jam is number one for me. Perfect in any season!

  • 28. ann | April 16th, 2011 at 9:53 am | #

I have tried these jams, they really are terrific… would be fantastic to win this prize… yum. My favourite jam, without a doubt, is a rare one – rose petals jam, followed closely by a more common one – raspberry, which is at least always available in the shops… Thank you for the chance to win!

  • 29. Mary Preston | April 16th, 2011 at 9:58 am | #

Raspberry is my favourite. Sweet but with a little *bite*. Especially on super, super delicious bread – toasted.

  • 30. Susan S | April 16th, 2011 at 9:59 am | #

Strawberry jam is my favourite. It goes perfectly with so many things especially scone and cream

  • 31. EHA | April 16th, 2011 at 10:02 am | #

Not surprised you found yet another NZ firm producing ‘natural’ products. They seem to excel at thinking ‘pure and healthy’. I have had some fab Manuka honey from across the Tasman and make my own yogurts every week using a NZ base – tastes quite different!

Fave jam; actually bitter orange marmalade – guess that does not count, so I would say fig or apricot. The Anathoth rhubarb and red berry jam very much appeals.

  • 32. Christine | April 16th, 2011 at 10:05 am | #

I love Lilli Pilly jam but it’s soooooo hard to find and usually costs an arm and a leg.
I need to find someone with a treeful of berries and see if I can make my own someday…

  • 33. Theresa | April 16th, 2011 at 10:06 am | #

I like any flavour that might be out of the ordinary, so my favourite when I can find it is gooseberry jam. I can see that Anathoth make a rhubarb and red berry jam which I am very excited to try!!

  • 34. Sue | April 16th, 2011 at 10:26 am | #

I’d have to go with Apricot. It’s the only jam that makes me want to grab a spoon and eat it straight from the jar. Who needs scones, toast or anything else to spread it on.

  • 35. Charm | April 16th, 2011 at 10:33 am | #

I’m pretty traditional. It’s raspberries for me. =) Or any other berries for that matter.

  • 39. ann | April 16th, 2011 at 10:41 am | #

actually, after i submitted my entry earlier, i realised my favourite jam is the one that’s not found in australia, only in the Eastern Europe… It’s made of a variety of berry related to strawberry but it’s quite different, the taste is quite tart and totally unique, not like any other in the world. It has its own name, and is translated into English as ‘wild strawberry’, but as many times as I tasted jams here that are claiming to be ‘wild strawberry jam’, they are not, they are made from strawberry. I guess the only way to eat it again is to go back to Europe…

    Hi Lorraine,

I love everything about jams, they are mouth watering, filled with so much richness, taste and texture, and as Manu Feildel describes, it “just explodes in your mouth”. :-)

I’ve tasted so many local and overseas varieties of jams in my life but the one that takes the cake is Bacon Jam. My mum got the recipe for Bacon Jam from your blog a while ago. The jam simply tastes heavenly, filled with the right amount of sweetness of brown sugar and maple syrup, spiciness of Tabasco sauce and earthiness of coffee and black pepper, that create a perfect marriage of flavors for the smoked bacon :-) (how good is that? my absolute guilty pleasure!). The succulent texture is simply amazing on a perfect cut of French toast, amazingly delicious, and I can honestly say the flavor hits the right note on my taste buds (every single one of them)! Hint to readers here: you should try it. :-)

I’m a fan of home made, organic recipes as they are free of preservatives and full of natural goodness. Anathoth Jams would make a great companion to my ‘breakfast in bed’ kit. Looking forward to try it!

    Cheers,
    Barbara

I’m a huge fan of ‘home-style’ foods myself, but you gotts admit there’s a place for those ‘fake’ foods, like that hideous orange American sliced cheese…

As a small child I lived with my Nana. In those days people grew their own veges, kept chickens and had fruit trees. In one of the chicken pens grew a wonderful.leafy apricot tree that each year produced an abundance of fruit. Nana made stewed apricots, apricot chutney ,apricot tarts and the most wonderful apricot jam. To this day I still enjoy apricot jam on my toast!

Currently, 12 weeks pregnant with our first baby. ‘We’ are craving ‘our’ favourite Anathoth Strawberry jam, either on toasted thickly sliced sourdough; or fresh rye rolls. If the strawberry runs out, it would be raspberry, or ..the list goes on! It’s jam, jam, jam please for us.

I love fig jam spread thickly on toasted soy and linseed sourdough toast! But I remember having ‘rosella’ jam made by my grandmother….they had a rosella tree in their garden. It was absolutely delicious but I haven’t had any for years!
Love your blog! Hope the Easter bunny finds you…..

Jam is an essential ingredient and is always around our house. We use it in pastries, on crepes, in puddings, on toast and especially love it on a hot loaf of fresh bread! Plum is the universal favourite. Hubby loves fig too! I’m more into apricot, but strawberry is fine!

  • 49. Elizabeth | April 16th, 2011 at 11:32 am | #

we have just had home made beautiful fig jam on toast for breakfast. Would love to try these jams from NZ.

  • 50. Melisa | April 16th, 2011 at 11:56 am | #

I love homemade marmalade jam. It has a lovely texture, isn’t runny like some jams I’ve tasted and isn’t too sweet. I love it on toast for breakfast with a nice hot cup of tea.

  • 51. Lindaf | April 16th, 2011 at 11:59 am | #

I absolutely love strawberry jam, on freshly cooked and piping hot, homemade scones, smothered in jam and whipped cream on top… oh so good ! Today is the perfect day for it mmmmmmm yes, today is definately the day for them ! :P

  • 52. Judy | April 16th, 2011 at 12:12 pm | #

strawberry is my favourite. i’ve actually tried anahoth’s jam once or twice before and i loved it! its not too sweet and really does taste home-made. i was even asking my sister where she bought it from because i thought maybe she bought it from harris farm or some specialty food store – but no she bought it from woolworths apparently. i didn’t know they were a kiwi company til now =)

  • 53. helen richards | April 16th, 2011 at 12:48 pm | #

love lime and ginger combo, tried making as a marmalade, turned out yummy

  • 54. Janice | April 16th, 2011 at 12:50 pm | #

I love to try new jam flavors and tend to buy the ones containing fruits that are exceptional for you. But I still try every new flavor I find. My latest were pomegranate and cranberry conserves
I still have a long way to go as far as trying every flavor that exists. My problem seems to be getting jams that are rich in flavor and don’t have an overabundance of sugar. That is why my flavor of choice for a long time was apricot.

  • 55. InTolerantChef | April 16th, 2011 at 12:52 pm | #

My absolute favourite jam is Rosella Jam, also known as native hibiscus, the same fruit that is in those little jars with syrup for putting in sparkling wine. My dad grows them for that company and tea makers, and our home trips just happen to coincide with the picking season… Yummm!!

  • 56. robbie | April 16th, 2011 at 12:52 pm | #

definately raspberry hands down that flavour gives me the feeling of fresh fields in the summer

  • 57. carol | April 16th, 2011 at 12:54 pm | #

Ilike apricot it is full of flavour and you can have it on most everything ice-cream, toast, crumpets.

  • 58. Elaine WICKS | April 16th, 2011 at 12:56 pm | #

My favorite flavored jam is fig.
Whether it be flavored with pineapple or ginger is irrelevant but those big juicy sweet lumps of figgy figs are wonderful.

  • 59. Noelene | April 16th, 2011 at 1:05 pm | #

My favourite jam flavour has to be guava. We used to have a guava tree in our front yard when I was growing up, and whenever the fruits would get ripe, my mother and I would make a huge vat of the stuff. Good times.

And I agree with you about the preservatives. Ick.

    Nice post.

  • 60. Antony | April 16th, 2011 at 1:05 pm | #

Hi,Anathoth is a beautiful product. Just one point, all jams contain pectin it naturally occurs in fruit and is the compound that causes gelling of the jam to occur.

Generally speaking, if additional pectin is added it means that the producer has used less fruit or the fruit used is pectin deficient.

  • 61. Tina | April 16th, 2011 at 1:07 pm | #

Fig jam is yummy & versatile – lovely topping for toast, yet equally delicious on a cracker with cheese!

  • 62. Hotly Spiced | April 16th, 2011 at 1:16 pm | #

If these jams are available in Sydney I must be living under a mushroom. If not, is there any word on when they might be exported?

  • 63. betty | April 16th, 2011 at 1:18 pm | #

I have been known to go to great lenghts just to sample the best. We do not have Anathoth jams here…therefore, should I be fortunate enough to win, I would gladly pay for shipping charges!

Favorite jam…hands down…blackberry though strawberry-rhubarb comes close second tied with blueberry jam!

  • 64. Louis | April 16th, 2011 at 1:22 pm | #

favourite jam flavour: anything with rhubarb. I love rhubarb, and it jams so well, so I’d be very excited to try the rhubarb & red berry jam!

  • 65. RC | April 16th, 2011 at 1:54 pm | #

Straight strawberry is always a winner with my fruit strait from the garden but I now make Strawberry, gooseberry and rhubarb jam – yep – all together and it is a total winner again from my garden! Yummy scrumpscidoscious!

  • 70. Kristina | April 16th, 2011 at 2:14 pm | #

Can’t decide between the fig jam that Mum used to make when I was younger and apricot jam. I will never forgive my husband for eating the whole jar of home made apricot jam, given to us by a dear friend, that i had planned to eat the morning we came home fro our honeymoon. Vegemite on toast just didn’t cut it that morning!

  • 71. Justine | April 16th, 2011 at 2:21 pm | #

Blueberry Jam definately perfect on scones, fruit toast, fresh bread…yummy!!

  • 72. Judith | April 16th, 2011 at 2:42 pm | #

A friend gave me a jar of her nanna’s homemade raspberry jam as a housewarming gift. It was a really sweet gesture and the jam was delicious.

  • 73. Di-licicous | April 16th, 2011 at 2:53 pm | #

At our last house we had two giant plum trees which late spring time would have slaving over the tiny stove making jars and jars of plum jam – the ultimate xmas gift for friends and family. (Plum and cardomom jam was one of my proudest creations!)I have a dedicated empty jar box that I keep under the water heater, ready for the next glut of fruit that finds its way to me.
My favourite flavour? Gosh…anything homemade always tastes divine but I must confess I have a real soft spot for Lingonberry Jam that you can get at Ikea. Its so perfect with Norwegian waffles…..

  • 74. Kris | April 16th, 2011 at 2:56 pm | #

I too confess to enjoy the wonder and discovery within any deli or food specialty store… So listening to all the hype about Anathoth Jam has my mouth watering. I still hanker for my grandma’s rosella jam and did make it myself,(once),which made me appreciate the convenience factor in buying off the shelf…
Nowadays, I have a preference for various flavours that include pear or black cherry or raspberry or strawberry..I’m what you might call a jamoholic…

  • 75. angie | April 16th, 2011 at 3:15 pm | #

    My favourite jam is raspberry!

  • 76. Hannah | April 16th, 2011 at 3:23 pm | #

Can I say “Milk Jam”? It’s what the Japanese call dulce de leche ;)

Otherwise, I like tried and true raspberry, and also fig!

  • 77. Cate | April 16th, 2011 at 3:40 pm | #

Strawberry would have to be the favourite here in this house – used in oh so many things – even milkshakes!! I would like to try the rhubarb – never had that!

  • 78. Micky | April 16th, 2011 at 4:02 pm | #

I love, love, love really chunky apricot jam. It is best on toast interspersed with giant blobs of butter!!

  • 79. Alvin | April 16th, 2011 at 4:02 pm | #

My favourite flavour definitely has to be Strawberry! It goes really well with any type of breads or biscuits!

  • 80. Emily Stephens | April 16th, 2011 at 4:16 pm | #

Anathoth Jams are quite literally AMAZING!
I love the good old classic raspberry, I always have a tub of Anathoth raspberry in the fridge. Their version is fabulous on freshly toasted sourdough. Or on hot cross buns (seriously, try it… Delicious!) I’d like to try the new flavour, it sounds right up my alley!

  • 81. Ruth Woodhouse | April 16th, 2011 at 4:24 pm | #

I love all the Anathoth jams I’ve tried so far and I hope they keep bringing out more flavours. I’ve just bought the new Rhubarb and Red Berry one. I think my favourite would be Cherry Berry though. I hardly ever buy any other brand of jam now – these are so good – just like home-made!

  • 82. Laura | April 16th, 2011 at 4:27 pm | #

I love vanilla in jam, so anything that adds vanilla – strawberry & vanilla, apricot & vanilla…yum!

  • 83. Matilda | April 16th, 2011 at 4:35 pm | #

My favourite jam is Quince and anything other flavours that are out of the ordinary. :-)

  • 84. Christine Ellison | April 16th, 2011 at 4:37 pm | #

I have a ‘thing’ for cherry jam. I have a very good excuse for not making it……I don’t have a cherry tree. (Not that I’ve ever made jam. I just eat it a lot.)

Mine is strawberry! Would love to win this for my husband, he loves Raspberry jam when made from just berries and sugar with nothing added, bit hard to find though. He is from Canada and he misses his mum’s jam made this way from home grown raspberries, I think this gift box would make him (and me) very happy :)

  • 88. louise | April 16th, 2011 at 5:25 pm | #

Great to see ingredients that you recognise in a produce. i adore fig jam. so yummy on crackers with a slice of brie:)

  • 89. Meredith | April 16th, 2011 at 5:30 pm | #

Ooh, I’ve tried these jams and they’re delish! I enjoy fig and cinnamon jam, but sometimes it can be a bit sweet. I made a strawberry, rhubarb and vanilla jam a few months back, and that was a great flavour combo!
But a favourite jam flavour? That’s too tricky to decide…

  • 90. Cecilia | April 16th, 2011 at 5:33 pm | #

Awesome!! I haven’t tried a lot of jam flavour at all. But at the moment, there’s two. If I’m going gourmet, I love wild blueberry jam. And the second type of jam I like, is those artificial strawberry ones. They remind me of jelly donuts :)

At the moment my favourite jam is mandarin and vanilla… because I made it! It was very rewarding but washing and sterilising all of the jars was boring and getting the consistency just right was tricky. Perhaps I should leave the jam making to experts like Anathoth!?

  • 92. Tania | April 16th, 2011 at 6:00 pm | #

I discovered Anathoth just before Christmas I favorite with the in law… I love that supermarkets are finally understanding that we want products like this readily available

  • 93. Glenda | April 16th, 2011 at 6:06 pm | #

I would walk over hot coals for a fabulous jam be it apricot, rosella, strawberry, fig or plum.(it’s akin to picking your favourite child). If I could only have one jam in my cupboard I think I would opt for plum, so versatile.

I am extremely anxious to get my hands on these delectable jams. I didn’t know about this range of jams – the rhubarb and berry sounds divine, both tart and sweet (I imagine).

Yum, Jam!! I love Mango and Ginger jam which is just beautiful on toast but a close second is my husband’s homemade strawberry jam, made with love!

Rum plum jam without a doubt it the most delectable flavour I’ve yet had the pleasure to devour, thanks to a local farmer!

Love the fresh pickings of quince from my mother-in-law’s tree, stewed and transformed into a beautiful, flavorsome sticky jam. My inlaws eat this fruit raw but I can’t take it that far!

I’ve tried Anathoth jams and they are indeed delicious…especially piped into fresh warm mini donuts!
However, the best jam i’ve EVER eaten was found at a country market stall – white nectarine jam. Fragrant and with a natural sweetness, sadly that jar didn’t last long! Sigh…i want some jam now!

I love Cloudberry jam! We use to use to go berry picking when I lived in northern Canada, making sure to be careful of the bears who were also on the look out for berries, and make our own organic jam.

  • 124. Alta van Zyl | April 17th, 2011 at 5:36 pm | #

It has to be fig and ginger! And I mean made with very ripe figs, cut into big fat chunks, and barely cooked, so the figs don’t disintegrate into a yellied mass. Pieces of ginger are added for flavour, not eaten. Yummmy!

  • 125. Annie Robertson | April 17th, 2011 at 6:27 pm | #

  • 127. sussi mallon | April 17th, 2011 at 6:55 pm | #

i absoutely love a really good & slightly tart raspberry jam, i can eat it straight from the pot!
i was given a lovely tangerine marmalade as a gift & that also was delicious. i think with jams i like them to be sweet but not too sweet, lots of fruit & a lovely bit of bite to them. Yum, a great jam is hard to beat… Anathoth Jams sound like they would hit the spot!

    Hi Lorraine,

Great giveaway, have been wanting to try these for a while, never sure if things are as advertised.

My favourite jam flavour is raspberry, that sweetness with a little bit of tartness is what it’s about for me, then of course there’s blackberry and apricot and a really good homemade strawberry jam (preferably with warm scones and cream!)….

ok so not just one flavour, but I LOVE jam!

  • 132. joya | April 18th, 2011 at 12:35 am | #

My favourite is fig and ginger jam — home-made of course, with big chunks of homegrown fig and crystallised ginger. Best eaten straight from the jar with a spoon, while standing in front of the open fridge… The perfect way to keep savouring the glut of Summer figs all the way through Winter.

  • 136. Petra | April 18th, 2011 at 8:51 am | #

I looove cherry jam, especially from Young. It goes extremely well with a good non roasted, organic macadamia nut butter, try it, it’s a must. The three berry jam sounds fantastic and all natural is the only way to eat food, always.

Without a doubt Blackberry Jam is my most favourite – but not just any Blackberry Jam….
As a child my parents, brother and I would go Blackberrying on Sunday mornings – we would return home with stained hands and mouths and copious a amount of beautiful plump Blackberries.
Mum would then set about making jam and while she was at it she would also make Blackberry Tarts for supper. Sadly those days are long gone but the memories live on…

My favourite is Cherry Jam – simple homemade cherry jam. The best cherries for jam are the tangy sweet ones. Whenever I spread this jam on my toast, I feel so pampered and indulgent.

  • 156. Mick Gillies | April 18th, 2011 at 9:59 pm | #

My mother used to make a fantastic quince, apricot and passionfruit jam. May sound a tad yucky but believe me it was totally amazing. She so loved to experiment with flavour but the only drawback was she never wrote down her recipes and no one’s ever been able to duplicate her success

  • 157. 17catherines | April 18th, 2011 at 10:48 pm | #

We grew up with a big plum tree in the back yard, and my Oma had an apricot tree, so plum and apricot jams will always taste like ‘real’ jams to me.

Raspberry is lovely, but it’s a treat thing, not an every-day-for-breakfast thing.

These wonderful jam makers were at the Masterchef Weekend extravaganza awhile back and I tried and bought the strawberry and three berry and the cutest ever little keep cool bag. My late Grandmother used to make the most delicious jam from dark plums she grew in the garden. It wasn’t overly sweet, and mildly tart, and more delicious than I can put into words. I’ve tried every brand on the market, trying to find a jam that comes close to the greatness hers was, and sadly nothing does, so I dream of how yummy it was, praying for someone to bring out a jam just as good.

Fig jam is great, but I also love jellies – especially quince or blackberry – as they don’t have the little bits that get stuck in teeth that so many great tasting jams do. The ones that I remember from my childhood being called Ant Jam – and that they were left for the children to enjoy because the adults found them too bothersome because of all those little bits getting stuck in teeth

  • 205. Noela | April 25th, 2011 at 12:24 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine.
    Apricot jam is the scrummiest.
Especially spread on a slice of beautifully matured cheese. I have my Dad to thank for that, the things fathers teach their daughters. yummmm…

  • 206. Letona | April 25th, 2011 at 1:10 pm | #

Raspberry multi-skills across many food groups – coat lamb and sprinkle Rosemary, its gives a fantastic flavour; baking, jam tarts yum; high tea, scones and jam; sauces, add a tablespoon for a touch of flavour. It gives a rich flavour without being overly sweet. The list is endless.

  • 207. Jos | April 25th, 2011 at 1:25 pm | #

Rasberry Jam, I can almost taste the cream and scones when ever I butter up a piece of toast, ready for my Rasberry Jam.

  • 208. Hayley | April 25th, 2011 at 4:44 pm | #

Recently I made a batch of strawberry, vanilla and lavender jam. It was absolutely delicious and the smell of it cooking was out of this world!

  • 209. Megadrama | April 25th, 2011 at 6:35 pm | #

My fav jams are all NZ flavours, which is where Anathoth, comes from, ie.Boysenberry Jam, Feijoa Jam. And if they may “Hokey Pokey” flavoured jam, I’m pretty sure I’d like that too!

  • 210. Naomi | April 25th, 2011 at 7:14 pm | #

My fav jam flavour is mulberry! Takes me back to my childhood eating mulberries straight from the tree :)

  • 211. Jayne Marshall | April 26th, 2011 at 1:09 pm | #

As a child i picked black figs for my mum so she could make jam. The taste of this jam was the best and nothing ever has come close to it.

  • 215. chriss | April 27th, 2011 at 11:04 am | #

my favourite jam has to be feijoa jam. It is so difficult to find feijoas in Sydney, i love going back to NZ and seeing them in abundance. They are the perfect ingredient to a crumble dessert!!

  • 216. Lisa | April 28th, 2011 at 12:28 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,

My favourite flavour of jam is raspberry. From time to time I will stray from the path and dabble with all kinds of fascinating and exotic jams but time and again I come back to raspberry. Especially for scones.

thanks for the chance to enter!

  • 217. Katherine | April 28th, 2011 at 2:53 pm | #

I love Anathoth Jam. I have been buying it for years and I have converted nearly everybody over to it. I have a lot of food additive allergies, so I can’t eat most commercial jams. I am glad it comes it the larger tubs because I go through it so quickly, by the time I dollop it on everything and then share it with everyone else in the lunch room. I love all of the flavours but my current favourite is the new rhubarb and Red Berry because it has such a multi-dimensional flavour.

  • 218. Louise | April 28th, 2011 at 4:43 pm | #

My favourite jam flavour is anything with rhubarb in. Love it.

  • 219. Gloria | April 28th, 2011 at 6:27 pm | #

Raspberry jam with no doubt. My grandmother only serves toast with raspberry jam on her breakfast table, but I never grew tired of it. Raspberry jam brings back all those happy and carefree childhood memories!

  • 220. Carrie Spruce | April 29th, 2011 at 5:09 pm | #

Raspberry – because it is just that little bit fancier than strawberry :)

  • 221. Marie Pohnetalova | April 29th, 2011 at 8:53 pm | #

Strawberry – I lay it on thick!

  • 222. roberto colombi | April 29th, 2011 at 8:53 pm | #

Blackberry – reminds me of being a child and going out to pick them so mam could make homemade jam

  • 223. Lizzy | April 30th, 2011 at 10:18 am | #

We love weekend drives to Hawkesbury Harvest Food Trails (NSW), we bought lots of Ginger Marmalade we pour over Vanilla Ice-Cream or Glaze Honey Muffins.

Strawberry – teenage memories of strawberry picking to earn a few pounds & eating almost my weight in strawberries.

  • 225. Chanel | April 30th, 2011 at 6:02 pm | #

I remembered this post when I was grocery shopping last weekend, and we bought a pot of Anathoth raspberry jam. OMG it’s the best jam I’ve tasted! I told a girl at work about it and she said it was her favourite too.

My favourite jam is raspberry. I love the deep colour and it’s not too sweet :D

Gooseberry jam – reminds me of my grandma & her pommie life, she grew these in Australia when immigrated, made jam, tarts & anything possible to keep her homelands running in all our veins. The am was scrumptious on her fresh hot scones, fresh bread & fresh cream, coconut cookies & more.

  • 229. Sue | May 1st, 2011 at 2:03 pm | #

My all time favourite Jam flavour is Mulberry, my Nana used to make the best Mulberry Jam ever. Now she’s making it in Heaven, what an Angel she is.

  • 230. Deborah | May 2nd, 2011 at 6:47 pm | #

I am a self confessed jamaholic – not a day goes by when I don’t get my daily fix of jam. Apricot jam spread thickly over fresh bread and butter, one of the simple pleasures in life. I have yet to sample Anathoth jam, but once tasted, I’m sure to become addicted!

  • 231. Elli Couchman | May 3rd, 2011 at 6:43 am | #

I love all the flavours but Strawberry is top of the list and the range of pickles that they have are lovely too. :Q

  • 232. Super Sarah | May 3rd, 2011 at 11:22 am | #

I have been feeling really ill over the weekend and all I wanted was my Mum’s homemade apricot jam on toast!

  • 233. Jenny | May 3rd, 2011 at 12:39 pm | #

Boysenberry – my favourite berry. Gooseberry would have to come a close second – but it’s hard to find in Australia. I also love apple in my jams – Raspberry and Apple, Rhubarb and Apple, etc. Sometimes berries on their own can be a bit overpowering, apple makes it a bit smoother and less intense while still giving it a lovely flavour.

  • 234. Heather | May 3rd, 2011 at 7:21 pm | #

Hi Lorraine. I recently found homemade mulberry and melon jam at a local farmer’s market. It was so delicious it made me rush out and buy a mulberry tree and a packet of melon seeds so I can have a go at making my own next year!! :)

P.retty sure I didn’t expect to buy this jam there
A.fter all, all I was going to was a school fair
S.o unenthusiastically and unhappily I went,
    S.ighing because I thought it’d be a boring event.
    I. saw in a small stall, an orange jar
O.f course I thought passionfruit jam would be bizarre
N.evertheless I picked it up and decided to give it a try
F.or I thought it might prove to be an interesting buy
R.ight after I got home, I ate it with some toast
U.nder two bites, and I was engrossed
I.t was so irresistible that I took bite after bite
T.o this day I’ve never found jam that was a bigger delight!

  • 273. immy_jane | May 7th, 2011 at 11:09 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine :)
My favourite jam flavour would have to be apple and blackberry. I use to go blackberry picking along the rail way at home with my family every year. I suspect my brothers, sister and I probably ate more berries rather than picked them. Mum would make a variety of delicious things with them including fruit leathers, tarts, turnovers, cakes and of course her popular blackberry and apple jam.
As I’ve grown up over the years and moved away from home sometimes I miss the freedom and simplicity of my country childhood and the taste of blackberries brings back such wonderful memories :)
