A couple of weeks ago I was attending a Rosemount Wine lunch for Fashion Week and was chatting to one of their winemakers. He told me something quite interesting. Did you know that wine makers are given dental treatments as part of their job because a hazard of their job is wearing the enamel out and staining of their teeth? I was surprised but then again not so surprised as you can often tell the red wine buff by the stains on their teeth.
Whilst I don’t drink that much red wine, I do drink loads of tea and I have to confess that when at home I drink my tea out of a straw. It’s a little tip that my friend Queen Viv told me to help keep my teeth white and although it can elicit curious looks if you ask for one it is nevertheless a practical tip. In the absence of drinking through a straw (I can do it since I work from home but people do stare if you do it at work or in a cafe
), we have a hamper of goodies which allow you to try out the new Pronamel toothpaste which helps to get rid of stains and protect your teeth along with some of the foods that can cause enamel wear and staining.
The hamper includes:
Beerenberg Strawberry Jam
Delouis Fils old fashioned mustard
Simon Johnson green olives with garlic
Simon Johnson freeze dried kaffir lime leaves
Simon Johnson preserved lemons
Emma & Tom’s orange juice
Tyrrell’s 2009 Hunter Valley Shiraz Wine
Fattorie Giacobazzi balsamic vinegar
Fresh fruit
Plus of course a full sized and travel sized tube of Pronamel toothpaste and toothbrush!

Thanks to the Pronamel, five lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win this hamper of gourmet goodies worth $150 each! For a chance to win this all you have to do is tell me one of your beauty or grooming tips! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 11th of June, 2011. You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia!
***The winners are:

Wow – I should have a mouthful of red teeth! (I guess it’s good that I whiten them) …a beauty tip however, I live in the US.
Grooming tip? If you’ve got a nasty wee spot the best way to cover it is to dab some concealer on, then dab some talcum powder on it; then another wee dab of concealer. That’ll guarantee it to last for the whole day/night; without having to retouch! Gobsmack’d
Wow, that is all quite amazing, I will have to start drinking tea and coffee from a straw. I can’t even drink my coke from a straw as it makes the drink too bubbly.
Do you miss out on any flavour?
For beauty I get up in the morning thinking I am absolutely handsome and healthy. It’s not true of course, but the day is over before I find out.
My favourite beauty tip is to apply paw paw ointment on my lips every night just before I go to sleep. I haven’t had dry lips in years and it’s so cost effective – one $5 to $7 tube lasts me six months!
Travel cleansing wipes are the best. I carry them in my handbag always
My beauty tip is to drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits and veggies. It makes your skin look and feel so good and is cheaper than expensive creams and potions : )
What a fabulous hamper….
My Beauty Tip?….Be happy and don’t take yourself (or life) too seriously, frowning causes wrinkles!!!
My beauty tips: put lots of smile on my face, give lots of love away from bottom of my heart, always be thankful.
I am an old fashioned girl who uses hot water and a facecloth to clean my face, followed by a face cream, smothered all over and down the neck
Works for me !!
my beauty tip is a honey and banana facial mask the honey is good for your skin and softens your skin and the banana is also good for your skin.dont laugh it does work and feels wonderful.
My beauty tip is for my skin: a few drops of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the bath water is naturally moisturizing & nourishing.
Hmmm, I have to be careful with facial products due to allergies, so my best beauty tip is to ALWAYS look in the mirror before leaving the house, or the car mirror before leaving the car for a meeting. And smile!
My beauty tip is to keep out of the sun as much as possible! Too late for me as I already have bad skin from over-exposure but I’m avoiding it as much as I can now.
Eat well, drink well and share good times with friends. Recipe for happiness!
An hourly brisk walk every morning makes you feel wonderful and then you can taste the delicious things in the hamper with not too guilty of a conscience!!!!!
My beauty tip is to have plesant thoughts and keep negativity frown lines away.
My beauty tip: like the other lass I use paw paw ointment on my lips. Also, I have been drinking aloe vera juice and applying Thursday Plantation aloe vera gel at night for years and I don’t have any lines. The aloe vera is very good for getting rid of sun spots too. I would love to win a Pronamel Gourmet Hamper!
Always pluck your eyebrows – a strong eyebrow arch really frames your face and can even give the appearance of a mini-eyelift!
Use natural products. Avoid causing any long-term damage to your well being and skin by keeping away from beauty and grooming products that contain sodium laureth sulphate and parabens.
Always sleep and drink enough.
No matter what you eat or how much you work out the truth is – ask your partner their opinion on how you look. Honesty works.
Fav beauty tip is for the best face/body scrub. put a teaspoon of bicarb in the palm of your hand, add a few drops of water to make a paste and gently scrub in circles all over your face.
= skin like silk.
The freshest fruit and vegetables eaten as raw a possible; then all other intakes taken often but in moderation. Add to this a genuine interest in people and you can’t go wrong.
What a fabulous basket of goodies especially for one who DOES live in Australia and DOES drink red wine and tea! Have to laugh tho’ – are you including the beautiful Tyrrells’ wine, so we could have that first and then try out the toothpaste afterwards
? Actually I too oft use a straw at home as well as a number of the other beauty/groomong tips already given. To that I would like to add the use of the ‘Invite Vit E’ cream, especially with the drying winter winds starting to blow oh so early! Available in tube and pump bottle, I use it for dry elbows, knees and toes and on all scars or rough areas. Perfectly safe longterm. When I lost my right breast to cancer eight years ago, I used it daily (and oft still do) along the scar: which scar – I literally don’t have one!!
!
Pawpaw is a magic fix it. Not only does it soothe chapped lips but it’s a great lip gloss, a tiny bit will help tame unruly brows, or can hold a little stray hair in place, it’s fab on knees elbows or any other dry skin, it it great on your cuticles, perfect for people with exzema, helps heal stretch marks, burns and cuts, it’s a tube that’s always in my handbag.
My beauty tip……always make time for yourself. Have a pedicure, manicure, facial or spend the day doing what YOU want (on the couch with a good book) You feel soo much better for it
)
I loved Pronamel before it became available in AU, as I first tried it in Europe. My best beauty and grooming tip is simple: SLEEP, plenty of it, always. At least 9-10 hrs nightly. And a good dentist, lol.
Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock!
My best beauty tip is to wash out an old mascara brush thoroughly and use it to apply lash tint – much better than those plastic applicators they supply with the tint – and it allows you to get all the way to the base of your lashes without getting it in your eyes.
Freeze dried kaffir lime leaves? Very cool. My tip- when you run out of clean underwear, simply turn your old underwear inside out.
A smile costs nothing but gives much. A smile makes people more appealing when they are all dressed up and adds beauty.
Hi there Would love the hamper, I dont drink Red Wine so staining is not a problem for me but the beuty tip I have is always have a pedicure and look after your feet, looks so much nicer in summer shoes to have healthy feet.
ALWAYS wear sunscreen, even when it isn’t sunny. =)
Sunblock. That’s it. Sunblock.
I drink lots of water and try to eat as healthily as possible for good health inside and out!
My beauty tip is to moisturise twice daily without fail. Keeps the skin supple and bright.
One of my beauty tips is in the morning before you do anything splash the face with cool water five times. It wakes the senses up and washes off the cobwebs from the night before. xxx
Don’t wear makeup every day. Aim to have at least 2 days per week without makeup to let your skin breathe.
Drinking loads of plain water throughout the day.
Never go to bed on an argument – it causes wrinkles.
Love this hamper! My best tip would be moisturise morning and night!! especially in winter…
my beauty tip for more defined eyebrows is to apply a slightly darker than your eyebrow shade mascara to your eyebrows for more defined eyebrows cos my eyebrows are really light and eyebrow pencil makes it look very unnatural.
The best way to tweeze eyebrows painfree is to press a steaming fash washer over them first to open the pores.
drink plenty of water, stay away from alcohol and use a good moisturiser
My tip is to have a cup of hot water and lemon first thing in the morning. It is meant to get rid of the toxins in your system. But it is also important to brush your teeth afterwards to avoid the enamel disappearing from your teeth. So I think that I really deserve one of the fantastic hampers…
every morning re-hydrate your face with a facewasher squeezed out from a basin of very hot water to which has been added 5 drops of pure peppermint oil. Lay the washer on the face until it cools – do this 5 times. Opens the pores, rehydrates the derma, and the peppermint stimulates the mind. Particularly good when sleeping in air-conditioned rooms.
If your in a rush and dont have time to wash your hair just brush a bit of talc (for blonde hair) or bronzing powder (for darker hair) and this will stop your hair from looking oily?
Good morning Lorraine,
What a lovely hamper you’ve got today, and thanks for the straw drinking beauty tips – the thought of drinking my wine from a straw just crossed my mind
My best beauty and grooming tips is Exercise. Nothing beats the feeling of really sweating it out on a beautiful Saturday morning like today, wearing my Pink Ribbon headband, listening to Olivia Newton John’s ‘Physical’ from my iPod and performing my Seven Steps Jane Fonda workout in my backyard. “One, two, three, go… Let’s get physical, physical…”
Maintaining good health through regular exercises improves blood circulation throughout my body, keeping it fit and the weight down (from all the yummy sushis, pastas and pies). Breathing the fresh air keeps my brain active and alert (so I don’t forget to pluck the eyebrows on the opposite side
). With good health comes a beautiful, healthy looking me!
For my other beauty tips, I’d pick 2 base ingredients from today’s ‘mystery box’ (hamper): Strawberry and Lemon.
1. Mashing up a strawberry and rubbing it against the teeth for a minute, before brushing it off with toothpaste. Strawberry seeds contain natural teeth whitening agents and they’ll fix up the existing stains on your teeth over time (as you start using the straw from today!).
2. Squeezing a few drops of lemon juice into a glass of water and drinking it first thing in the morning. Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and they are great for cleansing the body and maintaining the inner PH balance so you can bathe in good health and beauty, always.
Keep happy and keep sharing those wonderful beauty tips!
Kat.
in the shower I always give my skin a good scrub to try and stop dry skin forming
My beauty tip starts with cleaning my teeth with Pronamel first thing in the morning & last thing before I go to bed and sometimes at miday if necessary as its important when you smile to have beautiful teeth.
Carry baby wet wipes with you- moisturising and cleans better than tissues!
eat lots of chocolate so you are happy and therefore look beautiful (oh and make it dark choc for the antioxidants to help your skin as well!)
Find something every single day to make you smile! Good food, exercise and sunscreen help…but smiling is the best thing….and it is contagious!
Oh, all this talk of stained teeth is too confronting for a Saturday … perhaps I should have had one less glass of red last night!! Anyway, my beauty tip is… when people tell you that you look beautiful – believe them! Nothing is more beautiful than a person who is comfortable in their own skin.
My beauty tip (which I have stuck to ever since I was told) is to always apply you moisturiser to you neck and chest as you want that skin to be as healthy and sag free as your face! No turkey necks for me!
Mix a little grated ginger in a teaspoon good honey every morning, lights the metabolism fire.try it!!
Put lip gloss on your eyebrows to smooth them down. This holds them in place makes the little hairs more noticeable and makes tweezing so much easier. You will have neater, more even eyebrows. Just use warm water on a face cloth to wipe off when finished.
Don’t smoke. Since quitting I look (and of course, feel) like a different person. So that one has really worked for me – don’t smoke.
What a magnificent response! Yes, yes, yes to heaps of water, fruit, vegetables and walking! Also firmly ‘yes’ to the ‘no makeup’, ‘no fights ere bedtime’ routines! Hugely believe in the avoidance of sodium laureth sulphate and parabens, but sunblock – read up yourselves on the latest and you make up your mind!
Lorraine – nearly left a message on dear Mr NQN’s FB wall – and – got shy! Now, if he votes 12 for Estonia, I’ll vote 12 for Finland!
! Let’s face it, we both have young, talented, sympatico finalists! Good luck – may the best artist win
!
Not only do I love cooking with my cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, I also love using it as a deep moisturising treatment. It works wonders warmed in your hands then applied to your skin and even your face. My favourite is in my hair, leave it in for ten minutes or even all night, then wash out- it smells amazing!!
Easy tip, brush your teeth at least twice a day with ProNamel helps keep the dentist at bay.
Use a warm muslin cloth to remove cleanser, eat fabulous food and have lots of fun and laughter in your life
Pamper yourself on a regular basis, have a rose scented bath or buy a really nice handcream and have a nice cup of tea to clean your system.
This is really quite bizarre! And it does make me smile just thinking about drinking tea through a straw.
I’m not too up there with beauty tips…..maybe avoid peeling chestnuts if you like your nails!
My grandmother told me never to go to sleep before cleaning my face of makeup. I have passed this advice to my daughters and we all have clear complexions. I await the day I can give this simple but effective beauty tip to my grandchildren.
If you’re looking tired after a big night out or a restless sleep, apply white eyeliner to the inner rim and lower waterline of your eyes. It will make your eyes look bigger, brighter and less sleepy.
Make sure you cleanse and tone morning and night. Makes your skin feel georgous.
A good Nights Sleep is all You need 8 hour minimum and you will feel and Look 100%
my beauty tip is to love the skin your in and life and everybody beauty is within.
A beauty tip – I give up. No matter what I try I keep waking up looking like this. A mask is my best beauty accessory!
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Stay out of the sun, when you have to be in it stay in the shade, shade is your best friend.
I cleanse, tone and moisturise at least twice a day.
ALWAYS take your contacts out before sleeping …. trust me no beauty in waking up with very very sore eyes …hahahahahahaha
i like using papaw cream for everything its really seeps into dry skin great for dry lips heals anything to cuts, burns rashes and it natural to use
I’m not sure this is really the kind of tip you were after but I have really long hair and we live in a small apartment with floor boards – this equals hair everywhere! A little tip I have is to do the daily hair brush on the balcony! Any strays go outside and give you another day before having to vacuum!
I use Witch Hazel to remove my makeup or as a toner for my complexion and it is available from supermarkets but best of all it is cheap. My dear gran always used it.
CONSOLIDATE your skincare and make-up products, buy things that are two or three things in one such as ‘tinted moisturisers’ and ‘Cleanser & toner combined’….saves time, money and allows you to splurge on your favourite brands!
I groom my beautiful cats as often as they’ll allow. Their purring and cuddles melt my heart.
I’m not quite sure this counts but I’ve just discovered the ‘dry and shine’ product that you pop on you nails after you have finished the bottom, ‘colour’ and top coats. I’m renowned for having perfect nail varnish aside from ONE nail.. very annoying! The dry and shine product puts an end to that annoyance and also trims the nail varnish time right down!
x
Beauty comes from within so treat people as you would like to be treated and have compassion. Not everyone is as fortunate as you and as you stare at the person who is “different” just imagine how they might feel.
As for a physical beauty tip try putting conditioner in your hair , wrap it up in a towel and sleep overnight, wash out.Leaves hair silky smooth and glossy.
Remember a smile is worth a thousand words no matter how many wrinkles it apparently makes so just be happy…
Wear sunscreen daily ,stay out of the sun and get a good nights sleep.
extra virgin olive oil is excellent as a body moisturiser.a small amount rubbed in to skin will soften and nourish. also makes a great handcreme if used sparingly. also really good on sore lips and can be used as a facial moisturiser. much better than products containing perfumes and colours.
a beauty tip i have for having nice soft lips ALL day is to put lip balm/vaseline on your lips before you go to sleep, and then when you brush your teeth in the morning, you also brush your lips. i do this routine everyday because i don’t like wearing lip balm when i’m out because the wind can blow dust/my own hair onto my sticky lipbalmed lips.
what you should find is that the vaseline sort of lifts the layer of dry skin off your lips without cracking/hurting. then when you brush your lips you are scrubbing off that dry skin revealing nice moisturised skin underneath. with this routine i don’t need lip balm all day. if i skip this routine my lips start to dry during the day and can start cracking.
Moisturise every eve and every sunrise, effective simple and doesn’t have to be expensive.
I’m hopeless at this kind of thing – someone desperately needs to give me a crash course in beauty tips! (And I feel like the ugly duckling not-likely-to-grow-up saying that!) Probably all I can really say is always washing and cleansing my face before bed, no matter how tired or late it is!
My tip is to always sleep on your back to help prevent wrinkles. Sleeping on your side or stomach wrinkles your face for around 8 hours…. worse than frowning!
When I go swimming I apply sunscreen not only to my skin but I also rub some through my hair…this helps protect my hair from harsh chlorines and chemicals…best tip I’ve been given as I swim alot !
Shower at least once
Brush your eyebrows for a quick 10 second spruce
I have spent a small fortune and wasted years on trying all sorts of creams to make my skin glow. But I have finally found that a quick brush over my cheeks, and forehead, nose and chin with Nars Bronzer could have saved me a lot of time and money. Gives skin a beautiful healthy sun kissed glow and covers minor imperfections. I’m a bronzing convert!!
I rub cider vinegar into my scalp and sleep with a shower cap on to get rid of dandruff. It’s more effective than anti-dandruff shampoo and chemical free!
My beauty tip is ‘grow old gracefully’ and never let anybody make you feel bad about what you look like. In this beauty obsessed world, people make too much of appearances. Lots of water and veg to keep you healthy, a decent amount of exercise and really that’s all we need!
My FAVOURITE grooming tip is to use honey as a face mask. I tried this just the other day and I LOVE IT. My face is so soft and the pores are barely noticable. TRY. IT. NOW.
My best beauty tip would be using witch hazel on my face after a shower. It’s refreshing, tightens pores and clears up any redness or blemishes and it’s 100% natural.
Re straws I’d love to do the same but what sort of straw do you use in your tea? Wouldn’t plastic melt or leach nasty carcinogens into anything hot? I’m curious.
My beauty secret is Clinique dramatically different lotion:)
My beauty tip is to always wash my face before bed…no matter how much I just want to go to sleep.
pop on your socks after you mositurise your feet, youll wake up with soft footsies
I use this toothpaste for receded gums! And never really thought about the beauty hazard of red wine & tea drinking.. oh dear
It always seems odd to me to drink hot drinks through a straw although some of the drive-thru coffee shops serve them that way.
My best beauty tip would be to moisturise your decolletage along with your face, helps to avoid those telltale signs of ageing
Such lovely goodies, Lorraine! What a great giveaway!
Always teach your kids to be sun smart at an early age. That way when they get older, they’ll appreciate their skin and health more.
try to eat & love a little like the french! cream, pastries and taste taste taste! happiness in small tasty bites…is better than a lifetime of self imposed restriction!! lol
Wear sunscreen whenever you are going outside. A must in our climate. And drink loads of water!
I’m a big fan of not wearing too much make up and always always washing your face before bed.
Tea tree oil is a great natural pimple killer too should you over-indulge on Easter eggs (who me?!).
Never, never, never leave the house without sunscreen even in the middle of July. Moisturiser and foundation with added sunscreen are godsends. Keeps skin from becoming leather like!
What else? Vodka … On a cotton ball applied to your open pores ..yeah not a sexy tip but it works ! Pour yourself a drink and relax!! Beautiful…
i always make sure that I cleanse my face because there’s so much pollution in the area
My beauty tip would be to take care of your teeth you can smile confidently! A happy person is always beautiful
use generous amounts of cleanser as it’ll give riches to the ‘pore’!
The best grooming tip I can offer (from a man’s perspective) is to iron your clothes lol
Drying hair for a scrunch look, scrunch hair first then put a hair net over it to keep it tight and then blow dry it.. great effect!
good food good supplements especially omegas good sex and the best chocolate you can buy!
beauty tip for nice hair… hot oil treatments. you can just use the v05 ones. they will leave your hair feeling nice and smooth.
My top beauty tip is adding a slice of lemon into boiling water for stronger nails and hair growth. Plus it’s lovely and cosy in winter to fight off those awful winter colds!
Plenty of sleep, exercise, water and laughing–all free!
My beauty tip is to dab a tiny amount of Vaseline on your eyebrow bones. It will make your eyebrows look perfectly arched! Thanks for this competition! XO
Fabulous hamper! Beauty Tip: When you wake in the morning, have 2 big glasses of water, one to hydrate your system and one to get the brain going.
If your hairspray comes out all gluggy and covers your hair in wet bubbles, don’t panic! Just blowdry the affected area on a slow warm setting and they will disappear! And shake the can next time! LOL
Pick your parents well and take care of the genes they gave you!
Lots of water, sleep and rose hip oil on a clean dry face before bed. Divine!
If you have red spots or blotches on your face don’t be heavy handed with your foundation, instead use a green concealer to cover them, let it dry then cover with your foundation. For blue bruises or imperfections use yellow concealer and for yellowish bruises or yellow skin imperfections use a lavender concealer.
That is a really interesting fact that I never would have guessed.
My beauty tip, keeping within the white teeth theme: Wearing a bright lipstick can make your teeth appear whiter and brighter. Also a shimmer-free bronzer applied to your facial contours works a treat
i rub aloe vera gel fresh from the plant onto my skin. It feels rather off a first but dries quickly. I leave it on for 20-30mins and then shower it off. I cant say its a sure fire winner but at least it stops the plant from over-running the yard
hi Lorriane,
love the post! i have been sick and have been bed ridden… and i was having food blog withdrawals!! hahaha
my fave beauty tip is a home made face mask.
it actually is made with tomatoes and strawberries.
crush four organic strawberries with 4 organic chrry/grape tomatoes and mash till slight paste forms. add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of raw organic sugar.
mix well and place on face and leave for 15 minutes.
wash off with warm water and VOILA….. my face feels super fresh and of course smells and tastes yummy too
xxx Michelle
Make sure you get enough sleep.
My beauty tip – drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep! A
Always use sunscreen whatever the weather,
To prevent skin cracking like dried leather!
Always use Chanel nail polish – glides on easily, never bubbles and never clumps in the bottle -worth every penny!
Brush your teeth twice daily and don’t forget to floss also, for healthy teeth.
Beauty is a reflection of inner and outer health, so drink plenty of water, eat lots of colourful fruit and veg, keep your hair away from your face, exercise at least 30 mins a day, mositurise day and night AND remember to always SMILE!!
Hi Lorraine,
My best beauty tip is for removing makeup with non-fragranced Baby Wipes (if its gentle enough for baby bums it has to be good enough for your face). Also a lot cheaper than makeup wipes and cleansers, easy to carry around and found everywhere! It really works a treat especially with mascara. Would love the goodies pack everything I love in one! When is your book coming out – can’t wait to read it!
Smiles Rozzie
Try to eat natural, unprocessed foods wherever possible; this way I know the content of the food before it goes into my mouth and through my body.
Three words – moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
I try to wear makeup as little as possible and use natural products as my skin is quite sensitive!
my beauty tip is to always carry vasoline lip care in your handbag or pocket as its a great way to keep your lips looking kissable all winter long
Lorraine, You are always flying off somewhere. My tip: Hydrate! Using a moisturizing cloth mask when you start your trip and another when you land will stop your skin from dehyrating. (A good brand is Biotherm’s Source Therapie Tissue Masks).
I have a slight curl in my eyebrow hairs and a cowlick in one of them and they never seemed to sit right…that was until I discovered clear mascara! With a little brush of that now they always stay and look like I’ve just stepped out of the salon
Always cleanse and exfoliate gently before applying makeup to get the best results. Otherwise you can get the ‘rub off’ effect if you haven’t prepped you skin properly!
I have just started moisturising every night, and instead of spending $80 on Estee Lauder, Lancome, Clinique, Chanel and the like, give the Neautrogena and Nivea a try, i am never paying those high prices again! It’s the same ingredients, for aa fifth of the price!
Beauty starts from within for sure but it doesnt hurt to moisturise twice a day
Always be prepared to walk – park in the first available spot and walk the rest of the way. Keep a sunhat, umbrella and coat in the boot of the car, so you can do this whatever the weather. If you are elderly and/or arthritic like me, keep a walking stick in the boot too.
My Tip: Toothpaste (any kind!) works wonders on drying out pimples, even before they have come to a head. Just dab a bit of toothpaste on the offending spots before bed. My boyfriend thinks I look a bit funny, but hey – at least my skin will be clear (albeit, slightly minty fresh!)
I use Bicarb to clean my teeth with once a week. Great at removing the red wine stains – but I’m not sure if it’s good for the teeth enamel.
Make a paste with Bicarb Soda and water and use an old toothbrush to rub the paste over your teeth. If you do it everyday for awhile,-it seriously whitens your teeth!
Help banish a zit by dabbing a little toothpaste on it. Just don’t forget it’s there & go out, like I once did!!
After a bath or shower I slather a rich & intense moisturiser all over my feet, put on a pair of socks, then jump into bed. My feet are softer than a babies for it too.
When my wife isn’t home I use her good facial scrub, and sometimes if she’s out for ages her peel off mask. And it makes my man skin look so good. For all you guys out there, give it a go but don’t let her know or she’ll tell all your mates so you stop ‘wasting’ her product!!!
Moisturising daily is a tip I picked from my Mum, she looks fabulous for 62 so it must work. I walk a extra 40 minutes to work rather than catch the train and just recntly have stopped my two can a day diet soft drink habit for the sake of my teeth and my insides.
I would just love to win something.
I have used honey and glycerin on my face each night for the past 32years. Cant say I,m beautiful but my skin sure is soft. Ha Ha But really it works, well it has for me.
Always wear sunscreen so you don’t shrivel and dry up like a leather hand bag.
Men, steer clear of the make up. Leave it to the fairer sex.
My beauty tip: Stay out of the sun – no tan is worth lines, wrinkles or worse later on in life!
I know this is not really a beauty tip, but it’s definitely a lifesaver – dab a little bit of Vaseline on parts of shoes that tends to dig into your feet. I know, it sounds gross, but trust me it freaking works! No more bleeding ankles/toes for life!
well while we are on a food blog why not use mother natures finest ingredients. one cup of oatmeal and a few sprigs of rosemary and lavendar tie in an old stocking make for the most devine milky body wash you could imagine. happy soaking
Beauty – always wash your face every morning and night.
Grooming tip – Make sure your shoes are clean because no matter how good your clothes look, if your shoes are shabby, scuffed or dirty it will let the whole look down.
Best beauty tip – SUNSCREEN! Prevention is the key, i wear sunscreen every day, even in winter my moisturiser has SPF 30….
this is a true tip – for bags under the eyes after a big night out, i dab on cold haemorroid cream. i keep it in the fridge – hidden away of course so no one sees it! – and it works!
Mash an avocado and apply it to your face realx for about half an hour then rinse off. Leaves your face feeling smooth and clean. Use as a once a week natural gift for your face.
Cleanse, cleanse and moisturise. Sometimes the simple things work the best!
Keep your nails tidy! Great nails can really lift a person’s look.
I am sorry to promote a Brand but SKII changed my life! If however you hate the idea of paying $200 AUS for a moisturiser really the cheap brands do the trick
Natural curls are easy to maintain, after shampooing/conditioning scrunch extra conditioner with a wet towel and defuse with a hairdryer asap. Beautiful curls.
don’t ever wash your face with soap, don’t use any of those products either, the more natural you keep the treatment, the better your skin stays
Vaseline on ur lashes to get mascara off. Put on with cotton tip before
U start removing makeup then when u get to ur eyes will come off easily
Always get 8 hours of sleep every night….
Tip: keep your nails clean and don’t wear nailpolish constantly, it yellows and weakens your nails. two weeks on, one off with a strengthener
Fall in love (or stay in love). The faces of women in love glow with happiness and radiance.
My beauty tip is to drink lots of water. I always feel so much better when I have had lots of water, and it’s free too!
Being along time coffee addict, and an espresso drinker so no milk, I ALWAYS have a glass of water handy to not only aid digestion, but also to make sure my teeth always look white and not brown
Always put your handcream on just before you go to sleep and it has all night to work while your hands are relaxed.
Never buy eye liner again dampen an eye shadow sponge run the edge along the eyeshadow of choice and use as eye liner don’t be afraid to experiment.Truly get glamorous professional effects.
I always carry a small travel toothbrush in my bag, so that I can clean my teeth after eating or drinking out. My teeth always look good and don’t stain.
A good quality almond kernal or avocado oil, add a few drops of rosemary essential oil, massage it into hair and scalp, then leave it for a few hours (wear old clothes on the day )
When you wash your hair it is addictively touchable and shiny.
my hint – enjoy life and be happy with who you are. You only get 1 chance at life
With extremely long hair,I always use a few drops of coconut oil in the final rinse which leaves my hair soft and smelling beautiful…….
Never rinse your mouth after brushing your teeth as it washes away the healthy flouride from toothpaste!

“My Beauty Tip”, is to make sure you consume LOADS of wonderful antioxadants for the good of the inside of your body and the outer. Our bodies thrive on these important antioxidants.
Antioxidants are very smart chemicals that protect our cells from both external threats, such as the sun, wind and temperature, and internal threats, such as excess oxygen and hormonal imbalances.
Good sources of antioxidants include cereals, fruits and vegetables. There are, however, certain foods that are particularly rich in these life-saving chemicals. These include berries (blueberry, blackcurrant, cherry), walnuts, sunflower seeds, pomegranate and ginger.
Enjoy living Healthy! xx

Having faithfully read/reread 210 letters – methinks hair: a woman’s crowning glory, has not been much mentioned. For my ‘decrepit age’ I sport a pretty thick and lustrous mop, beautiful and naturally streaky now! I have always tried to keep away from chemicals as much as possible, be it with hair dyes or shampoos. Mainly tho’ I still do the ‘old-fashioned’ bit every evening – bend down, turn my hair upside down and brush slowly and carefully from inside down the length for about 3-5 mins. This not only feels fantastic but stimulates the blood supply around the hair follicles leading to healthier regrowth of beautiful strands!
!
This one relates to beauty products. When you are getting ready in the bathroom, be sure to put the plug in the basin so that none of your makeup can fall down the drain. I’ve had this happen before and it’s not fun!
Its not just the food you put in your body that makes you glow, egg for the hair, cucumber for puffy eyes, honey and oats for a facial cleanse, using it on the outside is great too you know!
I’m a shortcut kinda girl, so my tip is about how to apply mascara and curl at the same time. Right after you’ve applied mascara, use the top of your index finger to press upward against your lashes, holding them in place a few seconds until the mascara dries. Let go and voila! A lovely curled lash without having one of those scary curlers near your eyeball.

My Mum taught my sister and I to always use your ring finger when applying cream to or cleansing the area around your eyes. The ring finger has a lot pressure than your other fingers and therefore you treat the delicate skin with no supporting bone structure underneath in a much gentler fashion. Less wrinkles apparently.
Beauty tip – dab on your concealer instead of putting it on in strokes, especially under your eyes. This stops the product from settling in fine lines, instead it will skim over the top and help hide them!
