Win 1 of 5 Double Passes to Little White Lies!

Now that it is getting colder, it is definitely starting to feel like movie time! Forget cavorting about in the outdoors, snuggling up at the cinema is infinitely more appealing. And today I have some double passes to a new movie to give away to aid you in that endeavour! Little White Lies is a French comedy and stars Academy Award winning actress Marion Cottilard. Here is a brief synopsis of it:

“A group gathering is hosted every year by a couple at their beautiful beach house where they kick-off their summer vacation by celebrating the birthday of one of the gang. Fun, fine wine and seafood mix with sun and sand as they all leave their city stresses and inhibitions behind.

But this year is different. One of them is badly injured in a serious motorcycle accident just as they are about to leave Paris for their seaside reunion. His friends flock to his bedside, where their unconscious pal is still alive but in intensive care. What to do? Stay in Paris to be by his side, or leave for their vacation having been assured that there is nothing they can do? By the time they return he should be conscious and up for visitors. After some intense discussion, they decide to head off for enjoyment and relaxation. Over the course of the next week, all the tensions within this group erupt into full daylight…”

And thanks to Hopscotch films,  five lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win an in season double pass to see this movie! Well, being a rural gal does not help with this one! Oscar winning actresses: so many faves thru’ the years starting with Katherine Hepburn!:D! Yes, well! Of the recent ladies to win, have to agree with Lulu – Helen Mirren, to me, is at the moment la grande dame of the British cinema which I greatly prefer over the US counterpart! :) ! Have a nice weekend, Mr & Mrs NQN!

Natalie Portman, she was in “Black Swan,” in which she plays a mentally plagued ballet dancer striving for perfection.
She trained for over a year for the role, losing extreme weight, cracking a rib and pushing her body to the limit.

Marion Cotillard is a fabulous actress. Her oscar-winning performance, with her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose was a tour de force.
She was also terrific in Inception, the big, block-buster hit of 2010! I nominate her as my favourite actress and would love to see her in ‘Little White Lies’.

I love Meryl Streep. She always seems to find that perfect balance of how to find the appropriate emotion of a scene, never bombastically overacting or underacting. Her versatility, subtlety and depth in ‘The Bridges of Madison County’, ‘Sophie’s Choice’ and ‘Julie and Julia’ are simply breathtaking. Her funny moments in ‘She-Devil’ and ‘Mamma Mia!’ are too infectious. Her Miranda Priestly in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is my guilty pleasure, simply unforgettable! I enjoy sitting in a darkened theatre and be mesmerized by her beautiful performances, like savoring a glass of fine wine, enjoying every moment. Here’s hoping Meryl Streep can finally win her third Oscar for her role as Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady’ after a record 16 Oscar nominations. Bravo lady!

I enjoyed Helen Mirren playing Dobson in the the remake of Arthur. Being my favourite actress right now, I particularly like the fact that she is one of a very few Oscar winners who doesn’t feel the need for plastic surgery and can still win these awards.

There are many wonderful actresses to choose from, some who we claim as ours (Australians) Cate Blanchet is a truly amazing talent. I am still going to stick to Julia Roberts however, her movies are always remembered, she will be toppled I am quite sure of that as there are many very talented emerging in this new generation, including the young cast of ‘Packed to the Rafters’ past and present
