I’ll admit I was veeeery sceptical. I don’t usually go for chill out CDs-for starters I operate at a purely frantic pace and the idea of chilling out to music is something that I only ever really do on islands and even then I’m still thinking about my next blog post or the next recipe that I will be making. So when I was sent a copy of the Vibe Chillout Suite CD I popped it in not expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised and it seems I’m not the only one. Vibe is the hotel chain and this is their fourth CD and it has just hit Number 6 on the ARIA chart.
There are 40 songs on the two CDs by artists such as Röyksopp, Mark Ronson, Florence and the Machine and Hot Chip as well as Australian artists Angus & Julia Stone, Washington and Sparkadia. Plus legends such as Jeff Buckley, Lenny Kravitz, and Bill Withers are wedged in between debut singles from young Aussies Gypsy & The Cat, Big Scary, Kid Mac and Georgia Fair. The CDs can be bought in music stores, downloaded through iTunes or from the Vibe hotel reception or as part of a chillout hotel stay package.
Thanks to the Vibe Hotels, six lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win a Vibe The Chillout Suite CD worth $30! For a chance to win one all you have to do is tell me your favourite way to chill out! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 6th of August, 2011. You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia.
Best of luck!
Lots of love,
Lorraine

When I’m stressed, I find baking (not cooking) delicious goodies always relaxes me, maybe due to the yummy aromas that always make me happy.
My favorite way to chill out is a long hot bubble bath, with some chocolate and a good book. Thanks for the chance to win!
Well, I am a super fan of Jeff Buckley, if the other songs are at that level so it would good for me
.
Have a great weekend

With a glass of wine in front of an open fire in Broke in the Hunter.Just watch the flames and ‘burn’ all the bad thoughts ’til I’m feeling perfect.

Sitting on my verandah with my dog at my feet, reading a good book is a certain recipe for a stress free moment!
It used to be hand stitching in front of a good comedy on tv of dvd, but I’ve just discovered playful kittens are far more fun, esp when they flop in your lap and purr off to sleep afterwards.
I chill out with a glass of white wine, some camembert and a good book.
For me it depends on the time of day, evening….a nice warm bath, good book, glass of wine, candles…followed by some relaxing music, during the day however it is entirely different. Find some children to have fun with, especially in the kitchen, better still…find a baby….hard to be stressed when you are interacting and focusing all your energies on these wonderful little people.
CHILLING OUT INCLUDES A WARM SHOWER TO WASH AWAY THE DAY FOLLOWED BY A GLASS OF WINE ON THE BALCONY OVERLOOKING THE BEACH, HMMMM, I CAN HEAR THE OCEAN CALLING ME NOW.
I seem to fill every minute of my waking life with something or other, so my way of chilling out is finally crawling into bed and reading either an inspiring yoga-related book OR a crime / vampire fiction! The second option does have a “chill” factor
In Winter-
Eating Thai take out from my favouite reataurant in front of a blasting gas heater.
Can’t forget to start the night with a Bloody Mary.
Cheers
Lying back in comfort with my cat watching the world go by and just blissing out!
I chill out by climbing BACK into my warm bed, having gathered my book, a cup of hot steaming tea, playing some music that I love,(just in the background)and settle in on the plumped up pillows for a few hours, replacing the tea with red wine if it is at the other end of the day!
A glass of wine and a few recipe books to flip through for inspiration! I am totally relaxed!
I make myself a pot of tea (in fancy china), put on my favourite music and stare into space.
Slightly weird, but it works for me!
I have a few ways to chill out. One of my favourites is to take a cup of tea back to bed and spend some time on my laptop. A great way to start the day.
my chill out is lame.
If i am really stressed i make a big pot of green tea and then i watch either true blood or Doctor Who.
post exam chill is Doctor Who dvds and an entire pack of Oreos..
Normally I just don’t stop, but when I want to relax I’m a bath girl. Lately though I’ve been chomping down on valium(due to injury)and that works pretty well!
A summer breeze, the smell of the ocean and a swinging hammock. Perfectly chilled!!
I’m not the type of person that can chill out if I have chores to do so it’s a blissful moment when I finally get everything done to have some ‘Me’ time chilling out doing nothing!
Hiding with a book is my usual way of chilling out. Must work out how to turn the phone ringtone off!
Lorraine – you and I seem to function rather similarly
! Yes, it took me a long time to LEARN to ‘chill out’ – but anything CAN be learnt! I have two basic ways – one is to go ALONE on a walk (yes, I know you don’t like it – learn!) in a quiet & beautiful place. No phones along!! Become part of the natural world around you. Half-an-hour first: it IS addictive! The second IS music – oh, yes, that CD sounds great! Try the wonderful Dewa Premal (she’s originally German, methinks) or Celtic panpipes: all Celtic music actually. Then take the plunge and buy Deepak Chopra’s wonderful, wonderful ‘Healing’ CD & try to sit back, start with his breathing meditation & go on from there. His sexy, sexy voice will get to you – start with 10 mins every few days & you’ll soon be healthily meditating t’out the CD! I know you said you think of other things when trying: what did Barack Obama say ‘Yes, you can’! So, you or any other reader – for your longterm health, persist!! lol
!
Am not eligible but it’s a fun giveaway. I chill out with a nice glass of wine!
It doesn’t happen often, but a deep bubble bath, candle-light and a good book. Otherwise, relaxing with a book over a picnic in a park, while the kids come and go to graze and play nearby.
After an energentic aquatics class to release endorphins and work the muscles in a supportive nurturing way, I slip into a hot spa and natter with my friends. At that moment, nothing else matters!Chilled out music in the background would add to our blissful release of our muscles and minds.
My favourite way to chill out is to mediate to a nice piece of music and let the thoughts just drift away.
hot bubble bath by candlelight good music, cheese platter, vino & a massage – heaven
I read, no matter how stressed or uptight I’m feeling, when I immerse myself in a book I become part of the story and tension leaves me and calmness prevails
walking on the beach with my dog and splashing my feet in the warm water – then watching the sun go down over the sea with a glass of bubbly in my hand and my husband and dog by my side
I’m needin’ some chillin’

My favourite way to chill out is to find a spot in the sun with a book, a cup of tea and a plate of (homemade) biscuits. Heaven!
My favourite way to chill out is to put on my favourite music, lay by the pool with a glass of bubbly.
I’m fortunate to live near the Blue Mountains and have found some breathtaking places to chill out. I’ve been surrounded in lush green fairyscapes with hundreds of bluebirds singing around me. I’ve dangled my legs 2000 feet over pagoda rock formations in Lost City. These are the ways I like to chill out on my own when things get too frantic.
I chill out by taking a long walk and breath in the great country air. This calms me down and makes me realise how lucky I am to live where I do.
My ‘Chill Out’ is to take my beautiful, ever faithful dog for a walk!….and chill together

Other than looking for this next culinary adventure, TRUE!
REMIND myself to lie and watch the clouds pass by too!
Experience clouds as my IMAGINARY friends!
FEEL their WARM, calming messages and greetings EACH one sends!
Wow, I love chillout albums! My favourite way to relax is to curl up on the couch with classical music playing in the background.. but I also like to break out my secret stash of Aussie chillout albums when I’m baking cookies and bread in the kitchen. For some reason it just makes my day better
I am a forensic cleaner and there is nothing better than to come home and stare at Barrington Tops and the watch the Allan River flow by with a glass of red.
That sounds like a very nice mix of tunes. Sounds perfect, in fact, to listen to while you are hard at work blogging.
Had a head massage and hair cut this morning, definitely my favourite way to chill out
Hi Lorraine,
My favourite way to chill out is with a good book and a big glass of crisp white wine.

Funnily enough, baking is my chillout! Watching 80s flicks while I do it is the best! Or Julie and Julia while I bake cookies – sublime!
Comfort Food: especially family favourites like chocolate/chocolate chip cookies. Walks in the park are a great way to chill out & walk off the chocolate/chocolate chip cookies.
What an interesting competition
I too need to find time to learn how to chill out!
Ahem the nerd in me makes me listen to the Lord of the Rings audiobooks, they make me feel… calmer… in control and more hopeful. I had a pretty awful day yesterday, so last night and today that’s what I’ve been listening to. And I do feel better
My favourite way to chill is to take our boat out onto beautiful Moreton Bay, throw down the anchor, relax and just watch the water.
Lying in my daybed, with a good bottle of wine, a fab dessert tasting place and my cute dog “charlie” giving me cuddles total chilled bliss ahhhh
To chill out I like to sit in bed with a nice cup of tea and a good book. I also like to watch the footy on television and scream at the umpires or players to let my frustrations out!
Thanks for another fantastic competition Lorraine! XO
I like to take my dog for a long walk in the park, it really is the best way to wind down and chill out. Especially basking in the sunshine of the week before, it really is quite relaxing!

Cupcake + glossy food magazine to flick through. Delicious & inspiring!
not eligable, but hot tea,bed and book … take me away … (i am at work and there will be a 6 hour delay in putting that into action ;0)
This is going to sound weird, but i love chilling out with my 2 and a bit year old grand daughter, she is the funniest little person out, and wipes any stresses of my day away. I recently bought her, her own apron, which she loves to wear, to “be like grandma”… love her to bits and always look forward to having her with me … Took her and her mother to Eastwood for noodles one day, and she sat up like a big girl at the table and demolished all the wonderful chinese food put in front of her with gusto! She’s my “chill pill”
Fav way to chill would have to be to get OUT of the house for the weekend. Which means no washing no cleaning no cooking. Just hangin with hubby having cooked breaky and coffee out and wandering around wherever it is we’re staying.
As that doesn’t happen EVERY weekend, I love snuggling down with a glass of red, my laptop and maybe some tv
Sitting back on the couch watching a dvd (such as Harry Potter) and being waited on hand and foot by my husband. Now that’s what I call “chilling out”.
I need to chill out before I can sleep, and so every evening (that I am at home) I settle into my bed with a zillion cushions supporting me, open my latest fantasy novel and read for at least 3hrs. The only problem with this is that if the book really grips me, I have trouble putting it down and may end up reading until 1.00 or 2.00am, it is just as well that my chronic back injury prevents me from working!! (I know funny way of looking at pain, but this is how I cope with it)
my favorite way to chill out is a good long sleep in on a sunday morning with a lazy breakfast usually accompanied by one of my fave tv shows (30 rock, futurama, american dad)
Our favourite was to chill out is by having a nice glass of wine and listening to some relaxing music.
Walking along Nightcliff Foreshore (Darwin) in the late afternoon. Watching the sunset in the warmth, with tropical trees and flowers is spectacular.
A glass of Pinot…
A blazing fire, a good book, chocolate and a nice coffee will ensure that I’m so ‘chilled’ that nothing bothers me.
Curling up on the couch, with my husband, a good movie, cheese board and glass of wine. Nice way to wind down the day…
I <3 chillout music! It's the perfect antidote for a frenetic lifestyle!
My favourite way to chillout is pretty simple – a piping hot bath, soft music, candles & wine. Bliss
I ring my mum – she’s so calm, she always chills me out!
Curled up on the couch having a cup of tea and a freshly baked scone!
Turn off the phone. Settle down in my favourite chair with my cat, a good trashy novel and a block of chocolate.
I chill out with a good wine, good cheese and crackers, a good woman (or a bad one is even better) and some cool music.
A long walk with my husband and pooch, then a relaxing glass of sparkling shiraz in the sun. Divine.
I love rifling through my spice drawer and cooking a long slow curry, smelling it cooking as a flick through one of my many cookbooks/food mags – with a wine in my hand of course!
I like to chillout by sitting on the balcony watching the surf with an icy cold glass of white wine
A good book with a cuppa or a cocktail – depending on the season!
I too find it really hard to “chill”. The only way to chill out for me is to expend a whole lot of energy. Regular trips paintballing seems to do the trick!
With a fine wine – relaxing like this is in a ‘Glass’ of its own!
I take a novel approach – a good book in the garden… if you read between the lines, you’ll i’m totally relaxed!
The best way to chill is a roaring fire and listening to the music of Billie Holiday.

My chill out time 10pm reading NQN and escaping to my food heaven and dreaming about my next meal and the places I will go to eat myself silly!!
Sounds like a cool CD, however I find it kinda weird that vibe hotels are releasing a CD. I stayed at one recently and there was no CD player or speakers in the room…
My favourite way to chill out is to go out to a big back room at my house, close the door. Lie down on the couch, put on the stereo and be free from little children and the cares of the world while I steep my self in the brief moments of solitude.
Laying flat out like a lizard in the sun sipping a Moscato on ice, the sound of waves crashing, gentle breeze and the sun soaking into my frozen body. Pretty sure it only happens once a year. But nothing is more relaxing.

A Margarita in hand with a feast on the grill, sharing memories with my family.
I always need to chill out on the way home from work, so I turn the music up really loud and sing like I’m the best singer in the world. I’m usually all chilled out by the time I get home.

In winter it’s a hot shower in the evening, clean bedding, the 100% down winter doona and snuggling down deep so only my nose sticks out and I can’t hear anything but the sound of my own breathing, heaven.

Sit back relax and block out the screaming kids
Lay back on the couch and listen to Eva Cassidy – beautiful voice!
I like to sit in front of the heater and thaw out!
I participate in the sport of “doing nothing”. I am an expert in this field but rarely get to participate…equipment needed a comfortable lounge and silence.
With a good book, pod, a towel infront of the ocean, my body lathered in coconut oil soaking up the sun accompanied by a pinacolada.
Sitting out at the pool staring at the water, with a glass of something listening to either the birds or a relaxation CD.
knitting while looking over the ocean, headphones in with a cafe del mar cd quietly playing… always a chillin’ winner!
I get into nature, away from the rat race and allow everything to get quite around me so I can again focus on whats important..and if time permit take a great book with me to read
Eating alfresco with good friends and great wine, with the kids playing happily in the background. Bliss.

Having “me” time. Every night, after work, I pat my dog, get myself a glass of red, put on a favourite CD (I love Leonard Cohen, Dido, Katie Melau and any chillout music for this), and plop myself into my favourite armchair to read all my mail. Then it’s time to prepare a gourmet meal (love cooking) to share with my appreciative husband for the night.

I love to bake cakes and cupcakes or just chill out on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and a romantic comedy.
Curling up with a good book and a nice glass of wine always helps me relax
I am very much into deals and getaways. As I cannot relax at home with my husband being a workaholic I frequently escape to the city to chill out. Like you, I’m always on a mission and cram in as much as I can, then go back to the hotel and totally chill with wine, spa bath, a book or movie. Funnily enough my last stay was at Vibe Rushcutters Bay. It was great. I had the CD in my hand to buy but couldn’t read any of the songs or artists (didn’t have my glasses).
Reading a book, or watching a good movie help me relax at home. I also like to go for a run to empty my mind.
Curled up on the lounge , a good book in hand, a cup of chai tea on the coffee table and easy listening music playing-bliss!!

It is the Sunday of a perfectly beautiful weatherwise weekend after all our rain ( not that I don’t love rain to swish through the mud and get totally soaked, a warm bath to look forward to). I live on the banks of a creek and when life’s all too much, I paddle my kayak oh so slowly and take nature all in, wave to my neighbours, think through beautiful affirmations and give thanks for the great life I enjoy.
when im stressed, i like to go into my backyard jump in my hammock and swing while listerning to the surround sounds. it relaxes me and makes me see that there is so much going on in the world around me that what im stressed about seems so little
AN ICE BATH! If you can believe it -I have a 20 minute bath filled with ice twice a week, it relieves my aches and pains and tweaks my circulation so I am much more relaxed and feel healthy and CHILLED!

I love just sitting on a sofa under a throw and reading a new Cosmo!
My favourite way to chill out is to watch a movie with my cat on my knees.
I like to keep it simple, to not think about negative things or dominate my mind with outside stuff when I am interacting with my 3 year old son. A man in a temple in Thailand told me that meditation isnt being in a dark, silent room..it is simply concentrating on the task at hand, for example: Say u are currently driving in your car to a dinner date with friends and you are also running late, instead of thinking about the fact you are late.. will make your entire journey there miserable, instead think only about ‘driving’ and you will be relaxed and in your usual mood when you get there. Theres nothing you can do to change the fact you are going to be late!
A quiet evening out with my husband while the kids are being babysat. A dinner where we can chat uninterrupted followed by a few games of pool and maybe a movie if time permits.
