I’ve got another VIP experience for you darlings this week (quite frankly VIP is the only way to see things
). ! It’s one for the Melbourne based lovelies this time at September’s Taste of Melbourne event and even better this involves some wine along with food and some cooling off in a VIP tent! At this year’s Taste of Melbourne event the team from Giesen Wines are bringing their delicious wines to Taste of Melbourne, working alongside Marlborough’s Regal King Salmon to provide the ultimate New Zealand experience.

After 30 years in wine the boys from Giesen, Theo, Alex and Marcel, have created one of Marlborough’s most recognised wineries. Their most widely known drop is Giesen Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc but there’s plenty more to enjoy including The August, The Brothers range and more Estate Range wines.
Thanks to New Zealand’s Giesen Wines we have four VIP double passes to the festival (held at the Royal Exhibition Building September 15 -18). The prize includes entry to the festival, including the HSBC VIP Lounge (valued at $70 each), a private tasting at the Giesen stand (priceless!) and they will throw in a bottle of Giesen’s finest and a selection of fantastic Regal Salmon products for you to take home as well as well plus $40 worth of crowns per double pass to help start you off on your restaurant sampling! Each double pass prize is worth $230 and there are four lots up for grabs! All you have to do is tell me who you will take along with you and why! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 11th of September, 2011 (yes that’s right, just a week to enter!). You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia but transport to the event is not included. You see, Wonder Woman is borrowing my invisible jet
***The winners are:
Sarah H-P of NSW
Michelle H. of Vic.
Tuan N. of Vic.
Louise B. of Vic***
Best of luck!
Lots of love,
Lorraine

My best friend Veronica. We dream of going to the South of France one day with baskets in tow to visit markets and cook all day. She and I have a passion for cooking and it’s our way of showing our dearest and nearest how much we love them. Food is life. The best way to show someone you love them is to feed them. Thank you for the chance to enter this competition.
I’d take my best girlfriend because we don’t get to catch up enough and with her being in Adelaide and me in Sydney we love to meet halfway for food and shopping weekends in Melbourne!
i’ve been making christmas puddings for 33 years with a friend of mine and we haven’t missed a year..not even when we had babies or when i had to take my children on the train to her place..we also have other culinary days regularly where we cook for each other and most summers we go blackberrying together..i would ask this dear friend to join me in this culinary adventure if i were a recipient of this prize..
My new boyfriend whom I’m totally in love with! How nice to be surrounded by the “Food Of Love”..wonderful.
Wow, this looks fantastic
I’d take my older brother, Francis along with me. Although we have an understanding, being so different (completely opposite interests and personalities) we find it hard to find things to do together. However, we often bond over amazing food and travel experiences.
This would be a great chance to catch up and ignite our passion of food and wine. Also it’d be a chance to thank him for being such an amazing guidance in my life.
AWESOME! (:
I would love to bring my friend, a fellow foodie and lover of desserts, along so that we could enjoy the whole event together and enjoy all the culinary magic!
I would take mum – she deserves to be treated as a VIP!
I’d take my husband, because we love to enjoy food experiences together. We don’t get to do it often, but when we do, we cherish it!
Oh wow! What an amazing experience. I would definitely bring along my one of bestest friend in Melbourne because she is a total foodie and cooks like a champ too! Her husband to be is also going away for a week, so going to Taste of Melbourne and being treated like a VIP will totally cheer her up!
I’d take my dear friend who has recently become a mumma and totally deserves some VIP experience.
What a top prize!
Thanks Lorraine for putting this awesome prize up for grabs! If I won some tickets, I definitely call my dearest friend Lianne along as I know we will both have a smashing good time along as we always do!
I would take my best friend, my husband, we get so caught up with working, old parents, grandchildren etc. we don’t get enough time together. We would absolutely love this time just with each other – and food – and airfares can be found so reasonably now.
Mother-in-law, yummy food and wine will surely put me in the good books!
I would gift this prize to the lovely lady that works for me – Emma, and her husband Nic (who also works with me).
I’m in Adelaide and she is in Melbourne, and we are both subscribers to NQN, each work day starts with 5 mins discussion on food and what the recent post from NQN is (I’m afraid it’s a thumbs down in Cheeseburger Pie!), Mondays chat is a bit longer where we share the delicacies that we have created or consumed over the weekend!!! She is a great employee, but our love of food brings us together as great friends too!!
I would take my husband of nearly 25 years, as we both have a love of food and wine and are always trying new things, but with a household of 9, including children, grandchild and in laws, we just cant afford things like this. We have been wanted to go to this event for as long as i can remember. So if we were to be a lucky couple it would give us some time on our own to spend on a passion
I will take my best friend, my daughter, now that we live in the same city it is wonderful to be able to do things together. Until April 2010 I lived in Adelaide and she lived in ACT now we are both in Melbourne, and she will really enjoy the Taste of Melbourne with me.
one of my best friends Marina, as she and I looooove food. We love to try different things and ALWAYS share what is on our plates. We have been to the taste of melb for the past 2 years and enjoyed it immensely. Can’t wait for this year!!!
It would be a day out for my sister and myself, with whom I share a love for fine foods!
My Aunt who lives in Melbourne (i live in Alice Springs, fingers crossed that Tiger puts their cheap flights back on, if not QANTAS would work). I have booked the week off already (to cook at a school kids music festival in TiTree, which i will still fit in). Olga is a great inspiration to me – she has always been true to her ideals (food as well as life!). It would be a great pleasure to attend Taste of Melbourne with her…
I would take my daughter because of her passionate love of food that she shares with her mother.
I would take my girlfriend, because we meet at taste last year and what a better way to celebrate! Plus i’ve already organised a special trip down for that week so it would be perfect!
I would take my daughter, we could do with some food and wine bonding.
I will take along on this foodie adventure is my mum, my best friend with me. I would love to share this amazing prize with her because not only we share a mother daughter bond but we share a HUGE bond with beautiful produce. It would be great to meet the Giesen brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel and knowing these brothers have been in the wine making business for over 30 years they can teach my mum and I something new and we both have little knowledge about wine.
I would love to take my Mumma. She has had to put up with me for the last 25 years, and it hasnt been an easy task! We booked a trip together to go to Italy and France, but had to cancel because of financial issues. I would love to be able to take her to Melbourne and spoil her rotten instead! This prize would go a long way towards that!
I’ll take my husband and we’ll make a massive weekend of it- sans cherubs!
Oh wow. What a prize! i have always wanted to go to this event and every year there is something that gets in the way. We live just an hour out of Melbourne and jump at every chance to trot into the city. This is my year!
I would take my lovely man because he works hard and deserves a break!
Oh and we are salmon lovers
Hi Lorraine,
This is such a lovely prize. I’d bring my Mum to the Taste of Melbourne. Mum has instilled my passion in cooking and good food since I was young. I remember sitting in the kitchen as a kid watching Mum cook in wonder. I love the way she prepared every dish with gentleness, care and patience, showing me every step of the way of how to julienne the carrots, cut the onions, or to soften the rice paper to prepare my favourite spring rolls. At the end of her cooking, she would invite me to taste test her food and provide my honest feedback. I loved every minute of my daily food experience with Mum. I still think fondly of those days. Mum is 73 this year and I can’t think of anyone to share such a wonderful food experience than with my Wonder Woman. I’m sure she’d be thrilled to taste test the best food in Melbourne.
Mum would be my perfect VIP!
“Rice and fish are as inseparable as mother and child” – Vietnamese Proverb
My daughter, who is also my best friend,is undertaking study in hospitality and is very interested in food and wine. I would like very much to extend her interest and expose her to the wonderful world of Giesen wines and the food that these delicious wines compliment. Experience for her is her oyster and exposure to greatness is the ultimate for her development in this ever developing field of prfessionals. I also would benefit from greater learning. This never goes astray and enriches my life and taste buds.
I would take my best friend – we have know each other since we were 8 years old and we love all things dedicated to fine food. Our conversations always end up with us talking about new foods or recipes we have discovered. It’s not unusual for us to do 2 consecutive sittings at Yum Cha either, making it a great day out!!
Wow, I would take my best friend, my husband. He has a love of food, buys heaps of cookbooks for both the recipes and the stories. We have been spolit by all his culnary efforts and this would be a big thank you!
Hi Lorraine, I too would love to treat my beautiful Mama to this wonderful VIP experience. I haven’t seen her for over a year and this would be a fabulous excuse to get her down to Melbourne and away from the hard toil on the farm in Coonabarabran. Fingers and toes crossed
Just bought a case of Giesen. Love having a glass while I cook the dinner.
Forgot to add…I’d take my husband because he pays for all my wine
I will be taking my mum to earn some brownie points for some babysitting jobs that I may need!
I’ll take James. We went to Taste of Sydney and fell in love there. It was a wonderful day and I’d love to go to the Melbourne one with him.
My husband
We literally squealed when we saw this was coming as we love food but haven’t had much of an opportunity to try some of the restaurants that will be part of the event. This is a perfect chance for us to explore what Melbourne has to offer and further ignite our love for good food and wine. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m so excited for Taste of Melbourne this year! I would take my partner as he rarely gets to come with me to these events as I usually go with girlfriends or foodie friends. He loves food and wine (almost) as much as me, so I am sure he would appreciate it
Oooh all the samples! I love how they use ‘crowns’ as their currency, too!
I’d take my husband of 33 years. He is starting 7 weeks of radiation next week and needs some TLC.
OH BOY!!!Would have to take the old boy!this would be a wonderful food experience as well as revisiting the exhibition building where we used to go” parking”many moons ago,ah memories!
I would definitely have to take my mum to Taste of Melbourne. She’s a food lover like me so this event would just be perfect! On top of that, my mum is my best friend and she deserves some time off to be treated as a VIP!!
I would take my fiancee. We’re both sick and tired of working our butts off all week and being too tired by the weekend to enjoy anything, so some time away would be great.
Oh my god I HAVE to win this!! I’ve been to the show every year since it started and it’s getting better and better. I’ve been lucky to win most of my tickets so cross fingers I’ll be lucky again this year.
ESPECIALLY cos your prize is so awesome!!! VIP woo!!
I would take my boyfriend of course! I always drag him to this as it’s the easiest way to get him to eat ‘fine food’ – he’s got fairly simple tastes hehe. I’ll wear him down one day and he’ll be just as much of a snob as me. Haha. Kidding – I’m not THAT much of a snob…I just like ALL food
So yeh – the boyfriend would get dragged along. And I think he would like a VIP experience better because it’s more personal and we’d have the opportunity to get away from the crowds.
I haven’t been to Melbourne in over a decade and would love to revisit! As for company – I would take my friend P., who loves art and good food. She’ll be moving away from Australia soon, so this’ll be a nice memory for her to take away
I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE MY BEST FOODIE FRIEND WHO LOST HER BELOVED FATHER RECENTLY AND WILL BE SPENDING A SAD FATHER’S DAY THIS YEAR.
I’d take my wife. While I’m happy with simple steak and mash, she’s into all this fancy food stuff. Plus it’s our five year anniversary, so be a good chance for us to get to town.
I would take my darling son-in-law. We share the same loves; my daughter, grand daughter and food! It is time that I showed him again how special he is in our family.
I’d definitely bring my best friend Ally to the Taste of Melbourne. We are both passionate about cooking and sharing food recipes, ideas and experiences. I’d say we are the perfect foodie soul mates. One of the things that we truly enjoy doing together is venturing into the inner city after work every Friday night in search of great food. We are currently compiling our personal ‘Good Food Guide’ and so far we already have 16 on our list and counting! The good old trams in Melbourne make it extremely easy to hop around in the city, and if we find a restaurant that delights our fancy, we’d alight to check out the menu and price on the restaurant door. Longrain Melbourne is one of our favourite food joints (4 stars from both Ally and myself) as they serve one of the best Asian inspired fine dining experience and fusion cooking. There are many others that we’ve heard about but haven’t yet visited, like The Kitchen Cat or Mahjong Black, so to have these fabulous restaurants presenting under the same roof would be the perfect opportunity to add to our food guide. To top off the foodie delights with a private wine tasting at the Giesen stand would be absolutely heavenly. I’m sure Ally and myself would make the best use of our crowns at the Taste of Melbourne. Thanks Lorraine!
Great Prize =)
I would definitely bring my girlfriend as we have yet to experience what Melbourne as to offer, but have heard so much about.
My housemate. Sadly she eats to live and hopefully the Taste of Melbourne with convince her to come across to the dark side.
Hi!
I would take my best mate whose birthday is on the 13th of September, which is the day after mine as a joint birthday celebration!
He’s great at taking pictures too so I could use his skills to help re-inspire me to get my food blog started again! (http://refrigerateovernight.wordpress.com/)
Plus he and I both love food and he’s starting to try new foods that he normally wouldn’t try so this would be a great experience for him.
Cheers
Scott
My good friend Seann who is coincidentally my manager from work. All of his family lives in Melbourne and he moved to sydney about a year ago. We take it in turns making lunch for each other at work and when we’re not working we go out and find nice restaurants and bakeries to eat at. He’s been promising to take me to Melbourne for months now, as i’ve never been, and this would be a perfect way to get him to take me! Plus im on holidays from Uni so it’s a brilliant plan!
I’d take my partner, we are currently doing a season in the VIC ski fields, and he is always making us dinner – I totally agree that he is the the better cook, so I am fine with this arrangement… This would be a lovely treat before his bday on the 20th, and we’d have another reason to spend a night off the mountain, and take the Great Ocean Rd, finally
Well, I will take my best friend who also happens to be my husband. He has been through alot this year and deserves to be pampered with great wine and food. Me and him for a day out without the kids, something we haven’t done for quite a few years
Thanks for a wonderful opportunity Lorraine.
I would provide a babysitter and take my daughter because as a single mother of 3, she doesn’t get many opportunities to enjoy a lovely day out like this one!
I will take my son Sebastien along with me. He is a wonderful boy who has always supported me, specially during hard times. He always compliments my cuisine no matter what I make and….we both love food.
What a gorgeous prize! Lucky Melbournians seem to get all the yummy fun … xo
I would definitely take my husband, who cooks for all of us (we have 3 kids 6, 8 and 10 yrs) – he loves cooking and food and has shared his passion for good food, whether it is his own Indian and Malaysian style or roast lamb, barbecues, eggs or pancakes. All my extended family and friends love coming over to our place if he is cooking and he fills the house with lots of great smells, laughter and love. He works super hard but is always happy to pitch in and help at home – melb is only 80kms away so would be a lovely treat for him!! (and me!)
I would take my husband. He moved to Australia from New Zealand with me 6 years ago and he is very homesick. A touch of home would be just what he needs.
I would take my Hubby because we do everything together.
My bestie,
Will be,
Thrilled go accompany me,
She also is a devoted foodie,
Taste of Melbourne is the Mecca of all things culinary,
And we’ll be VIP,
Yippee,
Thanks to Giesen we’re going free.
My husband we have young children and rarely share a meal these days
My husband. With two small children, we don’t get out at much as we used to…
Finally! One I can enter because I live here in Melbs
I’d likely take the boyfriend because he deserves some quality time with me as I’ve been insanely busy for the last few months.
Of course I would take Hairy – he needs a bit of culture…

T xx
there once were two besties from sydney,
they loved any food that was heavenly.
they couldn’t be happier,
if lorraine’d make them luckier,
to give them vip passes, that they’d take so keenly.
I would definately take my nearest and dearest foodie friend, who happens to also be my
‘other’ half as we have been eating our way around the globe trying the best of the best… and this is one event where we will be exposed to more of that!
I would take my mummy because not only does she need a break from the 5 children she raises but she also loves food to the maximum! Also it would be her first trip to Melbourne, which would be a cultural overload for her!
Hi NQN,
If I was lucky enough to win this, I’d take my best friend and husband Lincoln. He’s a big foodie and loves to cook new things. He’s been away for work a lot lately (currently in Japan, making me jealous of his stories of culture & dinner). He is due home just before the Melbourne show & I was going to surprise him with tickets to this show, but if I won VIP tickets, then I could treat him to the VIP treatment he deserves and give us some really good catch up time together before he zooms off on another work trip!
Love the blog … I’m still making the Guinness cupcakes and I get rave reviews each time I share them!

It looks like I’m the first one here who would be taking Dad with me. I remember Dad used to drive us around Melbourne Chinatown in Little Bourke Street area every Saturday nights when we were very young, introducing us to the joys of great food outside of fish and chips, Chiko rolls and Aussie meat pies. It was Dad who made us passionate in food outside of our comfort zone, refining our taste buds as years went by, making us appreciate food from different cultures. Food is there to be enjoyed, he’d say to us. It’s so true! It was like our weekly food ritual. I’m still looking forward to our little food adventure every week after all these years. Going to the Taste of Melbourne as VIPs would take the crown I’m sure!
Love you Dad. Happy Fathers Day
My husband. He is NOT QUITE NIGELLA, but he shares her love of food.
I’d take my Dad along with me. We’re both VIPs (very important parents). We both would love this experience and with me working and living in Geelong and him up in Melbourne, we don’t get together as much as we would like. This could be part of our Father’s Day celebrations – it’s much nicer to spread celebrations out across September instead of compacting them all on one day!
My dearest mother who taught me from an early age how important good food is. Its the best way to bond with people
I meet a lifestyle journalist from Melbourne at my artshow in Sydney last year. Since then he has stayed in sydney to be by my side while i have been in and out of hospital having heart surgery. When I got out of hospital recently he ended up in hospital and now I am by his side helping him. We both talk about eating nice food and drinking nice wine and going back to Melbourne one day soon. We are both over hospital food and not being able to have a wine together in hospital. He is my Rock.
I’d take my friend Susan along… she’s going through a rough time at present, and I am firmly firmly of the belief that food is love. This festival sounds like a *lot* of love.
Taking my mum with me!!!
This is an awesome event!! If I get to win I would bring my parents along!!
I could do with a weekend break with my husband and a food festival sounds just the ticket!
I would have to take my best friend Michelle. I love food and she loves alcohol… so we are a great match for events such as these!
I would love to take along my daughter with me. She is a budding chef and we do a cook/bake-off once in a while and would love her to enjoy the food we have not only here in sydney but esp in melb so she can enrich her knowledge and taste bud. We both have fun eating out and enjoying how a simple dish is presented so artistically to our eye’s delight! Cant wait to experience the taste of melbourne with her! Thanks, NQN.
I will definitely take my daughter, she is a hard working Mum, and always has quality time with her husband and children, as well as NEVER neglecting me. As often as we can we have girlie nights together
I think the choice is simple. I would take my mum of course! We both love food and have been very eager to sample some of the top food in Melbourne! Taste of Melbourne would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
Take one talented young man belonging to a friend of mine / his inquisitive mind / a stomach full of great food and ideas / the desire to make the food industry his life / Taste of Melbourne is his dream to visit / Taste of Melbourne is his style/ We would both like to go. Thanks
Would definitely love to bring one of the closest friend I have in Melbourne to have this awesome experience! My fiance will be away for the weekend so it’s a chance to have to girlfriend time and enjoy the food with someone who appreciates as much as I do! (:
I would take my husband (and leave the kids at home!), he has a kiwi background so I’m sure he’d love to try the wines
My husband because he moved from NZ to Australia so that I could come home and he’s homesick for the Land of the Long White Cloud!
i’d have to put my friends’ names in a hat and choose that way…being foodies, it would be unfair any other way!
with no body than my husband we go and do everything together even being married for 41years we are inseperable.
My wife of course – she’s from New Zealand and would very much appreciate a taste of home. Thanks!
I would take my bestie Jules….
Have just returned to Melbourne after a long stay in Europe and had never realised (until traveling) just how incredibly LUCKY we Aussies are in terms our MAGNIFICENT coffee/cafe/restaurant culture! (I seriously dreamed of a melbourne coffee on numerous occasions).
Anyway, I haven’t had the chance to catch up with my dear friend and we have lots of ground to cover, including how I had my heart broken in Croatia
Also, she has two kiddies under 3yrs and is an amazing mum, but doesn’t get the chance to go out much. She deserves it!
I want to cherish the moment with my husband tasting the fantastic food that Melbourne has to offer as VIP guests.
I would take my 21 year old still living at home, high maintenance daughter, who loves to eat and drink what is on my table and in my frij. But,she is not really interested in where or how all good produce comes from. Taking her to the Taste of Melbourne event will introduce her to the delights of seeing, buying and preparing all the delights she loves to eat.
This sounds heavenly!
I’d take my husband who also appreciates fine food or maybe my friend Anna who is a lost kiwi & would enjoy a bit of a reminder of home.
I would take my BigJ with me, as this happens to fall on our wedding anniversary! And VIP is the only way to go, Wonder Woman or not!
I would take my mum along as she has taught me everything I know about Malaysian/Asian food and only recently have I been teaching her some things about other cuisines.
She loves all things food and even though she has the typical ‘mum’s way is the right way’ attitude, I know secretly she would love to learn more about what the Taste of Melbourne has to offer!
That, and we love Giesen wines!
I would take my husband. Together we have a love of food and what better place than Melbourne to experience it. It would be a blast
I’d take my hubby- we love to enjoy food and wine together and Melbourne is an awesome city! That’s a great prize!!!
With twin babies that have just turned one,
This house is very frantic, no time for fun,
My partner and I have not been out in over a year,
If we won a pass, I’d cry a happy tear.
To be able to wine and dine,
And have some quality couple time,
To converse in actual adult conversation,
While undergoing a ‘taste’ exploration,
What a sensation that would be,
So please, oh please, pick me!!!
Id take my 2 girls and teach them a little about great food
I would take my good friend who enjoys good food and we will both definitely have a smashing great time there
I would have to take my hubby otherwise I would feel too guilty if I took anyone else
My hubby because I cook and he eats! He is my greatest fan and my greatest supporter. October 1st signified 18 years together – 18 years!! Seems like I met him yesterday. He is a beautiful husband and superb father and we love visiting foodie shows together…..I am the big kid in a candy store and he laughs at my excitement!!
My first choice would be my Nan – she loved food, and was an incredible cook and cake decorator! She taught me a lot of what I know. However, we lost her to Ovarian cancer – so my second choice would be my best friend Linda – whose been there whenever I need her and taken me to countless days at the races with her Young Members Membership _ I’d love to be able to pay her back with this fabulous prize/experience!
My brother, he’s a chef and it’d be a great present for him since he got his official certificate recently.
Hi Lorraine ….. my pick would be my gran tilly … she makes me laugh and is so into food .. would be a great time out i think
My foodie friends! aka my boyfriend, his crazy sister from Fitzroy and her sensible scottish husband who is starting up his own farm and business supplying local meat, homemade sausages and salami! Nom nom nommy!
I would take my husband who is a kiwi living in Melbourne – he’s a bit homesick
My boyfriend, who is a wonderful and enthusiastic cook but only ever makes one cuisine – mexican! Time for him to experience an array of culinary delights at Taste of Melbourne, and broaden his cooking horizon..
I would take my boyfriend, who ever since we started dating, I have slowly introduced him to soo many new foods and tastes. He used to think I was nuts the way I talked about and describe food but appreciates it and therefore has become just as excited. Please pick us, we would just love to be able to go and represent you NQN!
I would take my mum to Taste of Melbourne as we are both food-crazed and would love the opportunity to try food from a range of different cultures and top chefs in Melbourne. Not only that, I love my mum and she deserves to be treated as a VIP!
I’ve only lived in Melbourne for the past three months, so I would take my wonderful partner… getting established in a new city and a new job is hard and at 9pm when all you want to think about is sleep, 2 minute noodles make an all too common appearance on the dinner table. Not to mention that I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into the best this city has to offer!
Good food and wine in Canberra is hard to find
A culinary trip to Melbourne has been on my mind
I’d have to take hubby as he does the cooking and it’s always divine.
I would take my Mother. She is a secret foodie, but never treats herself. That is why I always have to plan things to spoil her, such as taking her out to brunches and dinners that she otherwise wouldn’t get to experience. She is the sweetest, most loving and kind person, so I would love to treat her.
I would love to take my best friend because they love food as much as I do and to be able to sample some of the finest food and wine in Melbourne would be quite a magical experience.
I will take along with me
Jamie Oliver as it will me great
with him there
I’II take my camera and snap lots of yummy food oh and my husband
I would take my partner, we both love food, and love Melbourne, so it would be the perfect combination. We would sample the delights of Melbourne. The food Capitol
Hubby– there’s more to life than sauerkraut, liverwurst, and things that live in a jar, mashed potatoes or gravy, time to discover more.
My girlfriend. Who else would I share this unique experience with? With her work as a doctor, she hardly has the time to relax and the most I can do is to take her out on her days off to help take her mind off work. Plus next year, she might be sent off to work in Newcastle or somewhere rural; leaving me in Sydney so this would be a great holiday for us before that.
Definitely my brother – he loves good food and wine as much as I do. Won’t dream of going to a dream events such as this without him! x
I would take the wonderful lady who helps me coordinate the Salvation Army’s ‘cooking for the homeless’ volunteers. After turning out 1000′s of meals a year, she deserves to be pampered!
I would have to take my best friend. So many of our conversations revolve around food and what we ate and when! When we travelled to NY together a few years back we kept writing emails home about the food and half our photos were of us with food, that everyone asked if we saw anything else of the city apart from the restaurants. I know with her we will find a way to eat everything possible at the festival and even though our bellies will be in pain afterwards, we wont regret it!
I would take my husband because although he always says he can’t cook , I am sure if he was surrounded by such fine food and wine he would find the inspiration to come up with something amazing and surprise both of us.
I’d take my girlfriend just because I love her. Also have to take her as she’s still bitter that I went to the Ledbury this year without her!
I would love to take my husband. The day will be a prelude to our next holiday together.
If I were to win a package to Taste of Melbourne I would invite my sister. After a visit to Taste a couple of years ago, I saw it ignite her interest for food. That same year I had my first child. I saw that ignite her passion for children and have been blown away by her love and generosity towards my two beautiful babies. What a lovely way for me to say thankyou for her ever present support.
I’m entering again today! Woooo
))
Still gonna take the BF
I would take my husband. He’s a great guy who deserves an indulgence – Oh and he’s a kiwi so anything from NZ would be lovely for him
I will take my daughter she is a the best wife, mother, sister and of course daughter she always has time in her busy schedule for everyone
I would take my mum to Taste of Melbourne as I would really like for her to taste the lovely selection of food and wine, and just enjoy being a VIP!
I would take my housemate – she works more hours than are in the day and could do with a break. We have both just moved here to Melbourne – so are keen to explore and see what Melbourne and Victoria have to offer! I LOVE Giesen SB and recommend it to all and sundry – beautiful, fruity, Marlborough goodness! More than one person gazing indecisively at the fridge in the bottle-shop has had my forthright opinion forced on them – and I’m sure none regret taking it!
I would take my one of my bestest friend! It will be a nice treat after a long week and her fiancee is out of town so this will cheer her up!
Will definitely bring my good friend and fellow foodie as she can eat all the mains while I eat the desserts hehe.
I will take my brother along as he is a big foodie and will love the whole experience.
Hi Lorraine, I’ve really been thinking saout this as I too would like to take my Mama and my bekoved partner but I,ve decided … I would love to be able to take my good friend Gina who is one of the few close friends I have made since moving to M elbourne. She recently invited my partner and I to lunch at her place where we where absolutely blown away by the magnificent feast she prepared. It was the longest lunch in history … We left at 11:30 pm!! I would love to be able to take her so that I can show her how much her friendship means to me.
I don’t envy you choosing. But I know whoever goes will have a great time!
I’d take one of my foodie friends from Melbourne, who I have been missing truckloads since I left there a year and a half ago. They work hard and are paying off houses so any of them would deserve a bit of extravagance, indulging in one of their favourite topics – food!
I would love to bring my mum along and whet our appetite with the gorgeous food that will be available at Taste of Melbourne. She is a foodie like me so I know she’ll enjoy the experience!
I would take my young daughter to expand her palate.
I would once again choose to bring one of most awesome friend in Melbs, Miss Low! She has been here for me through thick and thin chatting with everyday about both life’s good and bad. We will both enjoy this tremendously as we love good food!
Love to bring along my good friend who loves cooking and eating good food! We will both have a fantastic time tasting and visiting all the booths there.
Would absolutely love to bring a good friend there and indulge in all the good food!
I would take my mum because I know she will love and appreciate the experience. Furthermore Taste of Melbourne could not have been set at a more perfect date, especially since my mum’s birthday is coming up!
I’d take my ex gf of 7 years. even though we are no longer our love of food has kept us best friends. We love going to these events and live for them. Food is our passion and our obessesion
I’d take my mum along. She loves food like me and Taste of Melbourne would be the perfect opportunity to widen our food experience.
My husband and my camera I like to photograph my food
I’d have to take my Dad along. It is about time he realised there is more to the food world than roasts and lamb cutlets. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with those, but lets open up those eyes Dad to smoked salmon, wine matching, amazing vegetables and the art of preparation.
Would take my mum for sure! We’re both food enthusiasts and are very eager to expand our food experiences. What better opportunity than to share the experience together at Taste of Melbourne!
I would love to nominate my best friend! He is my confidant, my faithful love, the one who sees me in the morning before coffee and make-up and doesn’t judge, who will wait patiently for me when I want to look in ‘just one more shop…!’, but most importantly of all he adores indulging in delectably fine foods with me! Sweet or savory, we love it all. We are gastronomically sympatico; Ferrero Rocher? I inhale the chocolate and wafer and he crunches the nasty hazelnut, those pesky mushrooms on a pizza Calabrese he gobbles up and he always saves me from the boring focaccia crusts. Unfortunately my faithful and loving friend answers to ‘Rusty’ and comes running to me on all fours. Yes, he is a dog and unless we are all somehow magically transported to France or Belgium (or some other forward thinking, dog friendly country) I’ll have to take my mum instead – which isn’t a bad second option at all!
my little sister, she is total bagan but has a job at a really fancy french resturant and i love to see her get all excited over food now
I will take my girlfriend because if I didnt I would never here the end of it. Plus my best mate is overseas.
I’d take my husband. We used to go to these events all the time – these days it’s sadly too infrequent. It’s be nice to relive the memories!
I would love to take my husband along! We’ve recently been busy travelling to care for sick relatives, so would love to be able to have an outing with just the 2 of us. This event sounds like a great place where we can relax a bit and have some fun with good food & wine!
I would bring my mum along. I know she will find the experience enjoyable as she is a foodie like me. And what better way to celebrate her upcoming birthday than celebrating it VIP style.
Thanks for the great competition!
Hubby works so hard in construction and when he’s inbetween jobs we have a shared love of food and wine..it brings up closer together!
Would love to head there with a friend who has been working and going to uni and being stressed lately. So it would be time to unwind and enjoy good food together!
Last night to try my luck! I would to visit with my good friend whom I just met today and we are both so excited bout TOM!
I would love to attend Taste of Melbourne with my mom. Hopefully will be lucky!
my brother has been cooking since he was in primary school. he has such a passion for invented anything in the kitchen. It is his 33rd birthday in a few days. He has always told me about the Taste of Melbourne event and how one day he wants to go. He also has a passion for wine and the wine glass to suit. He likes to tell me about which wine goes with which type of food. He is my food and wine hero.
