Welcome to the new year Dearest Darlingest Readers! I thought that I’d start the year with a real bang and a treat-and possibly something to help ease you back into working life. I’m giving away the new Philips Saeco Intelia coffee machine worth $999 plus a couple of extra goodies to give you the “Italian coffee experience!”
The Saeco Intelia Class is the first fully automatic espresso machine for home use to be honoured with an in-cup quality label, certified by Centro Studi Assaggiatori Italian Tasters (the Italian “sensory analysis” consultancy company). This is due to a careful and dedicated internal process focused on respecting sensory parameters designed to achieve ‘Espresso Perfetto’ – the perfect espresso by sight, smell and by taste. The machine is self-explanatory with colour-coded icons and it automatically detects the type of coffee beans and grinds the perfect amount of coffee. The ceramic grinder grinds at low temperature so that you don’t risk overheating the beans.
Thanks to Philips, one lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win the following:
- The new Philips Saeco Intelia (RRP: $999) which has just launched in Australia
- 1 kg Philips Saeco coffee beans
- A barista “crash course” by the Coffee Gang for one Sydney-based winner + guest
- All worth $1,225!
For a chance to win all you have to do is tell me someone famous that you would like to invite to your place for a cup of coffee and why! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST on the 4th of February, 2012. You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia (although the barista course is only available in Sydney and you will need to make your own way there).
**The winners is: Craig S. of NSW!***
Best of luck!
Lots of love,
Lorraine

OMG OMG OMG this is a great give away!!!
If i had the chance to invite someone famous it’ll have to be Bethenny Frankel
i’ve read a couple of her books and her TV shows and she’s so funny and honest. I think she’s a great inspiration for all women – she shows us that if we really want something, and we’re willing to work hard for it! We’ll eventually get it!
Thanks for the opportunity Lorraine!!!
Hi, I’d love to invite Robyn Barker, the author of babylove, over for a coffee and give me some tips on getting my baby to sleep.
Food wise, I’d love to invite Belinda Jeffrey so I can get some cooking and baking tips.
Happy new year!
I would love to enjoy a coffee with Giada De Laurentiis and share her love of italian recipe ideas
Iw would have to be the handsome George Cloony and show him that Nespresso Coffee does not compare to Philip Saeco machine with my newly acquired barista skills!!my coffees will be amazing!
Thanks for the contest! It looks like a great machine.
I’d love to have Neil Gaiman over for coffee. I’d love to pick his brain over writing and ideas.
first let’s assume these aussie icons drink the beany beverage
i reckon i’d like to have a chat over a cup of the bean with tim costello..he might be bored but i’d learn a lot
if he’s too busy for a catch up then i’d like to invite peter cundall if he’d drag himself away from the veggie plot in tassie..i’m having problems with my tomatoes this summer and he might have some green thumbed tips..
and if pete’s busy in the patch then i’d love to have margaret pomeranz over for afternoon tea so we could talk movies..mind you it would be a bit of a monologue because she’d talk movies and i’d listen..
I would invite Luke Pritchard from the Kooks to join me. There would be nothing better than to hear him live while sipping a frothy latte !!
I’m a bit of a George Clooney fan so I’m willing to try and convert him from his Nespresso…
Dear L, HNY and happy coffee morning to you too. For my cuppa invitee, I think it would be the other Nigella. I’d love to hear her ooze descriptions of creamy coffee in the flesh, mmm. Baci.
Well after the cricket during the week, how could I not invite Michael Clarke, not only would he be great company but I could then get him to play our game, in the backyard with the rest of the family!
OMG what a FANTASTIC prize!
I couldn’t go past dinner with Adriano Zumbo. I would love to just pick his brains about all things YUM!
George Clooney he says he is a coffee fanatic and with his sense of humour he could make it a lot of fun
I would love to serve an espresso to George Clooney(!) so he could tell me that mine is so much better than his Nespresso
Even though I wouldn’t call her famous I would invite Julia Gillard so that she can see how a pensioner lives in this country & make her try a cup of the crap coffee I have been forced to drink(cause I can’t afford better) while I finally drink a decent cup.
I would invite Al Pacino.
He reckons “he knows coffee” as you see in the Vittoria ads! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeYiUuxVj80
I reckon anyone who knows coffee would know to drink something better than Vittoria – say, Campos. Besides, apart from the occasional espresso, most coffee in the USA is rubbish.
So I’d invite Al over and show him that we aussies know coffee better than New Yorkers!
I would like to invite Anna Gare to have coffee, she is such an inspiration to me with her endless healthy ,simple but very tasty cooking! Her passion with food adds such a wonderful look to life and its pleasures!
Alex O’Loughlin – because we know an invite in for coffee rarely means that but its good to be prepared just in case!
I would like to invite Maya Angelou for a cup of coffee so she could recite her beautiful poetry for me!
I would love to enjoy a coffee with Paula Deen, she would bring an amazing treat to enjoy, I adore her accent and she is funny and full of life there would be so much fun and laughter
Pierre Herme – amazing macaron flavour combos and french pastries. How amazing would it be to have coffee with him!
Hmm… So many people here, all with great ideas… So many celebrities mentioned… How will the winner be chosen, I wonder.
I would like to have coffee with Prof Richard Dawkins, an amazing man with a brilliant mind. And if Christopher Hitchens were alive, I would invite him, too… These two men are my heroes, and the world is a better place because of them.
Thank you for this brilliant opportunity to win a beautiful product!
Hi Lorraine happy new year! The person I would live most to invite to my place for a coffee is the dalai lama. To talk with him and gain some of his wisdom and then use that to make myself and my family better people would be a dream come true.
Have a great week smiles
Rozzie Kaye
How interesting is this, when I read this so many people came to mind so seeing I can enter daily I can add the others when given more thoughts but the first one was one that a few have already named and that is George Clooney for all the reasons already stated about changing his mind from Nepresso but more than anything.
To be able to have coffee with the worlds sexiest man, to have time to sit and chat while sipping coffee and have him all to myself for that period of time ………… wow you can only dream.
I have a serious man crush on Kevin McLeod of Grand Designs and the Grand Tour fame. Quite the renaissance man. Lived in Florence for a year in his early days, even speaks fluent Italian, so I suspect he is a devotee of the ritual of coffee. I’d also like to show him the House I designed and built overlooking the water. We could play an adaptation of the Grand Designs drinking game where you have to have an espresso each time he said “bespoke”.
Audrey Hepburn! So we could discuss ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’ and ‘Roman Holiday’ over several coffees and croissants, and so I could bask in her gorgeousness and grace! Yes, yes…I am aware she is deceased…minor detail!
I am thinking it would have to be Oprah…surely with the free time she must have on her hands these days she could pop in for a coffee. And if Oprah’s schedule didn’t allow, then it would have to be my very own mum. I am yet to meet a bigger coffee fan than her so it’s a pretty easy choice.
This is a fantastic prize I would love in my cooking school.
I would invite Jamie Oliver and pick his brains about how to get everyone cooking in there own kitchens again. I am thinking of doing one free class a month for people that have no idea in the kitchen. His pass it on idea is awsome.
Today I would ask Nigella. Cause she drinks tea and that leaves ALL the coffee for ME xox
It would have to be Keith Richards.
We would while away a balmy Sydney evening lying on gently swaying hammocks listening to some very fine blues.
And if my espresso needs some added kick to keep Keef happy, I’d be happy to “correct” it with a dash of home made grappa.
I would love to have coffee and a chat with Aung San Suu Kyi, she is my hero.
I would invite Aung San Suu Kyi; she deserves the best and the conversation would be unforgettable.
Dr, Bill Griggs Director of Trauma Services, Royal Adelaide Hospital, for, amongst his many achievements, working in traumatic areas and disaster zones.
I wish to have Mona Lisa with me at my place where we can indulge in the best Espresso available today.
We could discuss coffee and cake,
and the sitting for a certain portrait.
What was she looking at and what makes her smile
What was Leonado doing and did he have good style.
We could discuss fashion of the day,
and I could show her the latest in Double Bay today.
I’d love to invite Adriano Zumbo so he can bring the sweet goodies while I make the coffees. YUM!
Santa – I’d let him know that I didn’t really want a hamper with no-name brand, cheap groceries and calmly discuss what went wrong.
This sounds like an excellent machine. Its quite a good brand. I will take a closer look at this machine in the shop soon. I hope you got one for yourself.
I would invite Father Chris Riley to show him that Australians really do appreciate all the work he does for our homeless youth. I might not be able to help him with cash, but I’d sure like to share a cup of coffee with him, if he has the time.
I’d would love to ask my parents back just once more. We lost both of them in the last 18 months ..we miss the little chats and coffee.
What a superb prize: since this is still kind’of ‘Estonian’ community here and we are all crazy about coffee and a decent cup is hard to get in this neck of the woods, uh-ah, wouldn’t I win in the popularity stakes
! Can’t even be original!!! Thought of George Clooney first to talk about his latest award-winning film. Then thought of Al Pacino, who has always fascinated me to bits. BUT will settle for my very favourite woman alive: Aung San Suu Kyi to quietly talk about the yesterdays, todays and hopeful tomorrows of her and her beloved Burma . . .
I met a lovely, but shy, Italian man last night, I wouldn’t mind inviting him over for a good cuppa! Why??? Why not? At least he and I would appreciate a good cup of coffee and I would get to hear his smooth accent again! LOL
George Clooney! To see if he really drinks/likes nescafe coffee
The woman envied across the globe.
A well known AUSSIE star!
A few cups of coffees is all it’d take,
For Miranda Kerr,
To let all her secrets of perfection come my way.
Perfect coffee, perfect girl,
With Philips my life will be flawless!
Stephen Fry; I could enjoy his endless erudite wit while silently drinking a perfect latte.
WOW, great prize on offer here!
I would like to have coffee with Meryl Streep, as a woman with a staggering acting career, I would like to chat about her life experiences and hear first hand what it is like to play Margaret Thatcher and Anna Wintour in her recent roles….
I would invite Robin Williams over for a coffee or two,
Though drinking the coffee may be the last thing I do…
I imagine he is one funny guy,
And I’d laugh til I cry….
And after all that, the coffee I can try!!!!
OK This machine would be the ticket to make a GOOD cuppa and learning the tricks of the trade,(Barista lesson),would be a terrific opportunity to show off to the likes of Stephen Fry for whom I have huge admiration. The resultant caffeine hit will surely ensure a tirade of AMAZING conversation accompanied by his ingenious wit.
I would love to invite Stephanie Alexander for coffee and my award winning scones with fresh home made jam and cream ( the cream comes from Fresh unpasteurized milk sourced from a farmer not a supermarket ) ,she is an amazing gardener and cook and i would love to ask her questions about her vegi garden and how she deals with pests.
I live in a retirement village and as the youngest here I have seen and heard how my neighbours have to budget carefully for anything extra and so I would invite Julia Gillard to our regular community afternoon tea to discuss the difficulties facing our senior citizens (myself included) daily. Oh and of course the *Philips Saeco Intelia* espresso machine with Coffee Beans would be perfect for our community room!
Well I love anything coffee flavoured so this would be my dream prize and I would like to share my first cup with NQN Lorraine who is famous to me for her imaginative food blog which I enjoy daily.
I typed out a comment, and it has not appeared!!
I will attempt it again
As the youngest resident in a Retirement Village, I have experience, heard and seen how difficult it is for seniors to live comfortably on a pension.
The *Philips Saeco Intelia Espresso machine* with Coffee Beans, would be perfect in our community room and I would invite Julia Gillard to our regular Tuesday afternoon tea so that she could learn first hand just how seniors must have strict budgets in order to sustain any sort of decent lifestyle.
I will invite Adriano Zumbo because I’m a fan who admires his creative genius and I’m a customer at his original Balmain patisserie.
I would love to invite Robert Anthony, such an inspirational person and so much to learn from him. You would be drinking coffee endlessly.
I would love to invite Jessica Watson for a coffee and discuss how she managed her solo voyage, coping with the loneliness and physical struggles…
I will invite Adriano Zumbo because I’m a fan who admires his creative genius and have shopped at his original Balmain patisserie.
Purely hypothetical now, but I’d love to sip with and chat to BARAK OBAMA’s late MOTHER and/or GRANDMOTHER to uncover the secrets for raising such a confident, driven, successful and yet grounded son.
I would invite Anthony Bourdain,he could entertain me with his swaggering tales of adventure in the culinary underbelly!passionate cooks, bad behaviour and tales of exotic far away places, our coffee cups would be refilled many times as I listened in awe.
The person I’d best like at my place, is that comedian Chevy Chase, he is so funny and cool, I’m sure he’d act the fool.
I’d really like to invite Suzanne Collins, Author over for a coffee to chat about how she got the idea for the Hunger Games books. What an interesting chat that would be.
My husband is a total coffee addict and has had a Saeco machine for years now – they are unbelievably reliable and simple to use, but he’d adore a new model.
If I could ask anyone in the world over for coffee, I think I invite George Clooney. He’s such a dreamboat, I think I like his politics and he REALLY needs to find out how great coffee can be when made properly.
What a gorgeous machine! I’d like to invite Hugh from River Cottage over for a coffee, we could wander around the garden and chat about chooks, vegies and all things sustainable and yummy!
I’d invite my mother-in-law to show her I can do something right!
I too would invite prof Richard Dawkins then ask him if this amazing fully automatic coffee machine in front of him, did it evolve from a pile of metal or was it put together by intelligent design…?
What a wonderful prize – I would definitely love to make a coffee for Loung Ung the author of “First they killed my Father” and “Lucky Child”. She has written the truth about a country torn apart by the regime of one man and she has survived but not forgotten. Loung uses her knowledge to make her home country of Cambodia a better place and I know she also loves eating!! I would be honoured to spend time with her and to entertain someone who admits to her love for food, great excuse to cook up a storm!

Id invite Adriano Zumbo in the hope that he will bring a gift of his macarons <3
Doctor Harry would be my choice. He is always happy & a delight, and could also give me some hints to help my old Red Dog.
NELSON MANDELA.
He was the absolutely indispensable man in South Africe – the capstone of his brilliance and genius as a leader. He was truly a negotiator, the conflict resolver. He was the political seducer,he shown extraordinary ability to winning people over.He is the personifcation of a true South African son. His humility, tenacity and deep-rooted African soul reflect the essence of what brand South African son is about.
“THE MAN STANDS AMONG THE TRULY GREAT POLITICAL LEADERS OF OUR TIME”. He was born Rolihlahla, “SHAKERS OF TREES”.He became Nelson Mandela and shook the world. He is my hero,my inspiration to pick me up when I feeling depressed He embodied that wonderful Mafia dictum that goes: Keep your friends close, but hug your enemies even closer. This is my motto that I live by. The symbol of reconciliation – let bygones be bygones. Forget the past and your wrong dwelling – this is my ability to inspire respect. It would be an honour to have dinner with him.
I actually keep a “BBQ List” of celebrities that I think would be fun to have at a BBQ. This is really embarrassing, but I’d totally have Mandy Moore over. I have no idea about her music, but I saw an interview with her once, and she struck me as a fun, kind, down to earth person who’d get on with anyone.
Being a coffee tragic, I would LOVE this prize! I already have a fancy machine but I would give this to my dad.

If I could invite someone famous over to my place for a coffee it would be Zooey Deschanel!
I loved her in 500 Days of Summer and just recently saw an adorable clip of her and Joseph Gordon Levitt wishing everyone a Happy New Year. I just love her spirit and feel that she would be okay with sitting on my mismatched cushions in my humble townhouse drinking a coffee!
George Clooney, come to dinner, but bring your own expensive coffee pods for the useless Italian coffee machine you told me to buy!!

Love to sit down with a coffee and have a chat to Ita Buttrose. She is such a female icon and so self-composed. I would love to absorb some of her wisdom and hear her tales of working for the Packers.
I am trying out this machine now (to review it) and, all things considered, it is pretty ok…
I would invite Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (author of books and knitting blog http://www.yarnharlot.ca). Stephanie is always saying that she can’t function without coffee and I think she’d love the chance to have some fantastic espresso from my lovely new machine while we both knit while we sip.
I would like to invite Nigella Lawson for a cup of coffee so she can bring that delicious chocolate cake she makes.
Uschi Obermaier, saw a movie about her life, would love to share a coffee and hear her stories.
Paul Stanley. To have him in my home, enjoying coffee and some of my home baked goodies, would be my dream come true and more. I’d be more excited than a child the night before Christmas, having my life long lust and fantasy within arms reach.
Maybe him and a Doctor, to resuscitate me when my heart gives out from the excitement!
The Queen of England, so I could go all out & really lay on a top notch super posh spread. I’d like to see the ‘non public’ side of her and have a chuckle or two.
Megan Gale, the invitation is always open to her, for a coffee, a chat and/or anything else this gorgeous creature may want from a nobody like me. Sadly invitation is all it’d be, because she’d never show up. . . . .so I’ll have to keep dreaming over my short black.
Kate Winslet! For no particular reason except that I think she’d be great fun and I like pretty much every movie she’s been in. Also she never succumbed to the super skinny Hollywood thing so we could have some serious cake to go with the coffee!
xx
Ummm, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki aka Sam & Dean Winchester… although I dont think I’d be doing much coffee drinking!
Even thou it is only a fictional character, but I would love to have Barney Stinson. Because he is funny and entertaining for a cup of coffee
I would like to invite Johnny Iuzzini, the former executive pastry chef from Jean Georges. It’s a shame I went there just after he resigned
. I find his story amazing – “I won’t open my own pastry shop. No. And I won’t become someone else’s pastry chef again”…” But honestly, here’s what I want to do: Whatever I want. I like having that fear of not knowing what’s going to happen. I want to be scared again.”

I’d invite Scottie Callaghan!! Then he can make my coffee for me for the ultimate coffee experience!
I recently acquired a book
called Mezza Italiana by author Zoe Boccabella. I am in the process of reading it right now. I’d love to invite Zoe over for a cup of “espressi” and chat about how we both grew up trying to “fit in” to cultural Australia. Some of her memories bring tears to my eyes as they share a similarity to mine. Although being a touch envious I didn’t have grand-parents to converse with as she did. She was very lucky and I admire her willingness to explore her Italian heritage full on.
What a canvas you’ve given us Lorraine! On the assumption that the famous person does not necessarily have to be ‘with us’, I’d be inviting non other than the immortal Beethoven for coffee. Just picture the notion of chatting one-on-one with Beethoven, while sipping on a creamy cappuccino or luscious latte (why not both!), freshly brewed in a Phillips Saeco Intelia, silently sitting in the background! Amazing as this would be for me, even more so perhaps would be Beethoven’s reaction to the modern world (the Intelia included)! His senses would swoon at what we can do with the coffee bean today, compared to what he knew. He’d marvel at so, so many other things too. Most of all I think, he’d be humbled by his place in musical and artistic history – a pinnacle I’m sure he would never have imagined. Topping off our amazing coffee chat would of course be an impromptu recital on our rickety old piano by the great man himself!
Sigh….not good enough Loraine. I really had my heart set on that g-string…
Barack Obama, I think he would be fascinating to chat with over a cup of coffee.
Jonas Armstrong, because I will skew his rational mind with raw vegan desserts and then bring over a civil servant to marry us.
The smell of frehly brewed coffee and a piece of amazing cake, wow what a combination. I would love to have a cup of coffee with Paris Cutler and talk cake.
Mel B. I love her accent, I could listen to it all day.
I’d love to invite Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall over for a coffee. We can talk about sustainable food and agriculture and he can give me tips about my vegie patch!
I would invite Willie Harcourt-Cooze because he could make some divine chocolate dessert to go with the coffee. (He also has a very interesting story about his journey to produce his organic chocolate etc.)
I would love to have Bill gates for coffee, just so he can explain to me why my family are so tech savvy and I am so challenged! My partner is an IT administrator and my son is a geek in training and to live with them I sure need coffee.
What an amazing giveaway! I would probably have a coffee with Margaret Fulton. I love her cookbooks!
I would LOVE to invite Barack Obama over for coffee! He seems like a really fun guy who would be great to spend time with.
Forget George, forget Meryl, I’d invite NQN as your dedication, humour, daily food blog, insites into your dear family and all you side-splitting escapades at times and your common sense and loveliness makes me smile inside and out every day. Keep it up Miss and look forward to making you a coffee with my new machine and I’ll also do poppy seed roll – mother-in-laws superb recipe!
I can definately see myself making un cafe au lait for Tina Arena. She is so talented, gorgeous, stylish and down to earth. We would talk endlessly about Paris whilst sipping countless cups of coffee. She would be so impressed with my skills on my Phillips Saeco Intelia she would sing and beg me to invite her again tomorrow. Of course, I may have someone else famous joining us the next day
Bonjour xxx

Happy New Year to you & family.

Thank you for your giveaway
Oh WOW, you’ve outdone yourself Lorraine with this spectacular prize, what a way to start off 2012!

Well you pretty much know just how MUCH I love my coffee, even the aroma as I pass by a cafe sends me into a spin so I would really love to win this prize. Even if I’m been making a decent cup of coffee since my early teens using a cafetiera on a stovetop, I’ve never owned a precious machine such as the Philips Saeco Intelia, it’s all too easy! Not only but a Barista course to boot and all the other goodies, I’m beside myself
My celebrity would be Sophia Loren, Why? Well….because I’ve always wanted to ask her just one question.
“Does she really owe all of ‘that’ to spaghetti?” She is also Napoletana and they know what a good cup of coffee should taste like! Good luck everyone
I would like to have a coffee with Elizabeth David. She brought Mediterranean cuisine to the Brits (and more)and she simply loved food and cooking. She wrote at a time when not many were doing it. She was a wonderful cook and wrote in a way that inspired you to try. And she was beautiful!

And the reason’s plain to see:
In hope that he brings ‘nibbles’
To share with my Coff-ee!
Stephen Fry, not a conventional choice, but a powerhouse the seems to be omnipresent and insanely funny!
Hmm, you of course! And then we could sit down and talk about blogging, writing, food and coffee and where the best place is to go for yum cha in Sydney. x
I’d invite Prince Phillip to join me in a delicious coffee. Bring on the quick wit & un-PC comments. We all take ourselves way too seriously.
I would invite Al Pacino. Because “I know Coffee”
The Duchess of Cambridge aka Kate Middleton because she’s a modern, savvy royal so she can share style tips with me over a latte.
I’d love to have a coffee with Heston Blumenthal. After a good chat I could see us having fun with the coffee and seeing just what we could do with it.
S_ipping my cuppa quietly,
A_ knock – who could it be?
E_nter: The awesome Jim Carrey,
C_offee, cookies & colourful chatter,
O_nly SAECO – when quality matters!
We all know a girly coffee catch up is to gossip! I’d invite Oprah to get all the celeb goss and she could bring some truffles and maybe some free gifts she’s so famous for!
Out of everyone I’d just like to have my sister over (and my gorgeous niece and nephew running around) for a non-stop chat-a-thon. She lives on a farm in WA and I never get to see them enough, and she doesn’t get much opportunity for a decent coffee out in the middle of nowhere!
Happy New Year!
Kelsey grammar. I love Frazier and think he has had a fascinating life
There once was a wannabe barista,
Lived away from her sister.
She’d love to see,
Her for a coffee,
Boy she’s surely missed ‘er.
What an awesome prize! Hmm, I could pretend to be all intellectual and say I’d invite someone who’s famous for their writing/art etc, but um, if I could really have anyone over for coffee, it would be Brad Pitt (preferably in character as Tyler Durden)!
I think Nigella Lawson would be a fantastic lady to sit down with. I saw her once on Oprah and she looked like the only ‘real’ woman in the studio.
A cup of coffee with Josh Groban. Our daughter says his voice is like liquid chocolate, and she’s right.I’d have my husband and children as well of course. Oh what a time we would have, all around the piano, and all that beautiful music.
Hmm.. any of the Spicks & Specks team or Jenny Lawson. I think they would all be fascinating to talk to.
This looks like a great give-away…
I would love to pick Stephen Fry’s brains – about his struggle with Bipolar, and just to have a very hilarious time with him.
Alternatively, I’d like to raise Helen Keller from the dead – I am profoundly deaf, so I’m fascinated (and inspired) by how she lived, communicated, wrote, spoke, and so much more – became famous – when she was both deaf and blind from birth. I’d like to ask her how she experienced the world.
Hi,
I’ve read your blog for years now and I’ve never commented on anything, but coffee is too good to pass up!
I’d definitely invite Arthur Miller, my favourite writer and ex-husband of my favourite actress; yeah, I think we’d find a lot to talk about!
I would say John Edwards , then I could have family and friends that have passed join in for coffee too
As many have said above I would have to agree with George Cloony!
I would invite Robert Deniro, He just looks like he knows what a good coffee is and would really appreciate it!
Leonardo DiCaprio! Because he is eye-candy and what go well with a nicely brewed coffee from that gorgeous Saeco machine
Ina Garten…love her style of cooking and her pleasing personality. Just discovered your site!!! Brings back so many memories. The Rainbow Room,
the Russian Tea Room and just about any great New York sites!!!
Hugh Jackman, because he represents how I like my coffee, dark and dreamy and tasting just right!
Sarah Jessica Parker – superb coffee and fashion tips from the ultimate style icon – what more can a girl ask for?
I would love to have George Clooney. We could talk about the beautiful Lakes area in Northern Italy, good food and wine.
There are a lot of great answers here, and many famous people mentioned that I would love to have a coffee with. Handsome, beautiful, charming, wise and succesful people. But the person I would most like to have coffee with at the moment is Molly Meldrum, just to know that he was well enough to be able to do that. Molly has lived a full and exciting life, too, and is such a loved Australian icon. Get Well, Soon, Molly.
It would be a dream to have coffee with Achille Gaggia. Achille was the founder of the first expresso machine. The Gaggia company was founded in 1947 which is now owned by Saeco (Philips). We would talk about expresso machines while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee from the Philips Saeco Intelia machine. I believe he would be impressed with how good the coffee tastes!
I know this probably sounds so dorky but I’d have to say Anne Boleyn. I absolutely love English history, and in particular Tudor history and so I’d love to meet this amazing woman and find out what she was actually like and talk to her about the period. That would be fascinating to me.
Wow, what a great prize.
I would invite Bill Murray, on the condition that he does the Steve Zissou dance from the Life Aquatic with me before whispering mysterious things in my ear.
If Bill couldn’t make it I would have to go with David Bowie. We would get all hyper on coffee and make up interpretive dances to his music. (Preferably while wearing the silver leggings he was wearing in The Labyrinth)
xo
I would invite David Lebovitz the king of cooking with chocolate because nothing goes better with coffee than chocolate!
Captain Paul Watson from the wonderful “Sea Shepard” foundation. He SO deserves a well made quality coffee, and I would love to personally thank him for saving so many whales from the Japanese whaling fleet. X
I would invite Thomas Keller – hopefully he’d like the coffee and decide to make me lunch. Even if not, it would be great to pick his brain generally and get his tips on how to best use my esky to sous vide.
Haha! Hmm… Christian Louboutin, and as him if he ever thought about the pain taller women have when seeing his shoes, standing at a height of 175+ cm, his sexy gorgeous shoes makes us giants! I will happily share a bit of my height with you if you wish Lorraine =P
Do you count as someone famous???
I am quite new to your blog/site, and love what you are doing! So… I would like to invite you for dinner, (persian cuisine, as I am Persian) and talk to you and find out what motivated you to do what you are doing, and how it all started etc.. Then for dessert of fresh cream rollette and a beautiful cup of coffee made by my philips saeco intelia coffee. I look forward to reading and trying the recipes and trying out all the recommended cafes/restaurants. Thanks, and keep up the great work.
Cheers,
Hedy
I’d love to invite Annie Leibovitz for a cup of coffee any day. I’ve been a huge fan of Leibovitz’s works for ages. Her distinguished photography career has seen her cross path with so many interesting and inspirational people – John Lennon, The Rolling Stones, Queen Elizabeth II, Lance Armstrong, Barack Obama and many more. Who can ever forget that beautiful shot of a pregnant and nude Demi Moore in the 1991 Vanity Fair cover, or that intimate portrait of John Lennon with Yoko Ono? Meeting Leibovitz would be akin to meeting all those famous people she has met throughout her career. I love the fact that Leibovitz is always more interested in letting her work reflect what her “famous” subject does rather than who they are. It’d be REALLY great listening to her artistic endeavours and sharing in her creative vision, as well as her personal insights into all the wonderful body of work, while sharing and enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and savouring that artistic passion and deep intensity. Coffee and art really do go hand in hand, and having an artist and visionary like Annie Leibovitz in my company would make the perfect sensory experience to remember, like ‘Espresso Perfetto’!
Can I cheat and have 3? They could be classed as one… The master chef judges for sure
I think it would be an entertaining coffee date!
Princess Kate – she could teach me a thing or two about refined elegance!
The Queen
She knows her tea
I think she could do with a change

Well, when I thought about this in the wee small hours I was afraid someone would get ahead of me and someone has
! What does ‘fame’ actually mean and how famous does one have to be to qualify?
! Because, without trying to ‘butter’ you up in the least, I would love to have a coffee with you! If one has blogged on your page for over a year, of course there is a feeling one knows you: yet obviously there would have to be personal contact, a voice, body language etc to really do so! And it would be such fun to get a preview of your book for which we are all waiting with abated breath!!

However, I am going to stick with donating this amazing coffee machine (minus the barrista crash course – I’m in Melbourne) to my retirement village community room and invite Julia Gillard to chat over coffee with the real seniors of this beautiful country. Hopefully such a chat would open politicians eyes to the real struggle that seniors are facing everyday after working all their lives only to be forgotten in the Golden years.
Thank you and your sponsor so very much for offering such an amazing New Year prize to your fellow food lovers

I would so love to invite Gary Mehigan to sample the great coffee that came out of the Saeco. I love his cheeky sense of humour, and maybe he could throw in a cooking class or two…Life is too good to waste on bad coffee, and living in the country makes it so hard to find great coffee. wish wish wish sigh!!!!!! .
My Mum and my sister – Mum died a few years ago and my sister lives a long way away. We are all good cooks so we could all bring a yummy sweet delight, and get together over a lovely coffee. It would be an afternoon tea I would never want to end.

How do you secure all these amazing prizes – this is a must-have. When I read the question I immediately thought of you as I’d love to meet you and share some interesting conversation from both sides. It would be lovely to have a good coffee with you, but others have beat me to it I’ll wait for your book. I love people who are funny and can entertain me so I would invite Dame Edna for a high tea with a twist (coffee). Imagine the stories she’d have to tell while I impress her with my Saeco.
PS With so many people nominating you, why not run a competition where winners can have a meet & greet with you at a restaurant, even if they have to pay. I’d enter for sure.

Thanks
Ant
The Pioneer Woman, to thank her for her fantastic Cinnamon Rolls recipe which I have made countless times!
What a great question! If I could pick anyone to join me for a coffee it would have to be my hubby. He has taught me everything I need to know about coffee, besides, while I’m enjoying a great cup of coffee I don’t want to have to worry about nerves, in fact, I’d be to nervous to drink or eat anything if I were with someone famous. I’m a bit of a dork like that :-/

A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent.
George Clooney there’s a lot more to him than just silver fox looks – both him and the coffee veree tasty combo!!
Dana Delaney the actress. My husband has always thought she’s an absolute dish. Think he’d get completely tongue tied, but would be fun serving up the coffee, watching my lovely husband spill his coffee, and trip over himself.

My family will enjoy me fixing them a really great brew.

I’d invite Christopher Hitchens over, if he could be resurrected.
Not only because he’s a fearsome intellectual which would ensure great conversation, but also so I could ask, “Where you right?”
One person would not be enough when breaking in such a fine machine so without further adieu
Charlize Theron,
Hugh Jackman,Elton John, and the Iron Chefs. Yes I know I’m greedy but my coffee is damn good !
To share a coffee with a gentleman like Sean Connery!! Staring into his eyes, I hope I get to drink my wonderful coffee.♥
Brad Pitt would make a wonderful coffee companion. I’m sure his good mate George Clooney has made his a few Nespressos, so I would show him how spectacular a coffee is, made on the Philips Saeco Intelia and because it’s fully automaticI won’t even have to take my eyes off him for a second
Not George Clooney – by the look of the responses he’s going to be busy enough! I don’t need “eye candy” to enjoy my coffee, but I do like a good laugh, so I’d invite Billy Conolly. If I could be greedy and invite a couple of extras I’d love to meet Ahn Do and Carl Barron. There’s nothing like a good laugh to charge your batteries.
I would invite YOU for a coffee
I would invite my dad (a trained pasty chef) over for coffee and try to get as many recipes from him using “real” coffee.
I would invite my dad (a trained pasty chef) over for coffee and try to get as many recipes from him using “real” coffee.
Loving, loyal, constant, honest, loving, giving, sharing and did I mention loving?
My sister is truly famous to me.
I would share my first and last coffee with her to try and show her how much she means to me.
Why George Clooney of course! Although there are WAY too many people I’d want to invite, but as much as I’d love to keep the coffee to myself, I’d have to share it with Mr Clooney. Just like a good coffee, George is rich, smooth and exotic. *sigh* a girl can dream, can’t she?!
Bryce Courtenay – I’m sure he would have some amazing stories to share.
I know he’s dead but I think coffee with Roald Dahl would be pretty interesting.
I don’t know why I don’t have the slightest inclination towards inviting George Clooney, as sooo many find him synonymous with coffee and whatever else.. Sorry George my next ‘pin-up’ guest would be Hugh Laurie. Luv the man and his comedic talent, especially in the series “Blackadder”.
I’ve definitely got to have our very own ‘Princess Mary’ over for coffee so she can give me tips on how I can bag my own prince for a fairytale ending, and then I can make him some glorious coffee too!
Bill Cosby!
Andrea Bocelli, another gorgeous Italian with a voice as silky and smooth as crema. He Espresso’s himself perfectly.
I would love to sit down for a coffee with my fave author Megan Lindholm (Robin Hobb), as a kid i fell i love with the farseer trilogy and actually sent her an email asking about when the next books would come out. She took the time to email me back and continued to do so for as long as i kept sending her emails. She is amazing in most every way and there is nobody else i would prefer to have a wonderful coffee break with.
Definitely Willie Harcourt-Cooze because he could make some divine chocolate dessert to go with the coffee. (He also has a very interesting story about his journey to produce his organic chocolate etc.)
I will invite Britney Spears so we can support each other! (Single mum to single mum!)
Michael Hutchence- just tell me what happened
I’d invite Keanu Reeves who won my heart after “Speed” then “The Lake House”. This man really know how to make women dreaming…
He seemed have great chemistry on screen with Sandra Bullock, however who know with Saeco coffee and Philips Saeco machine, I may win his heart (also proudly by not by making him drunk)….but it may be in my dream whilst sighing and take another sip of the coffee.
I’m not drunk whilst dreaming either, but coffee aroma and flavour may invite someone flying and dreaming….because it is the coffee’s culture & aroma which make us feel relaxed and more friendly.
Guess who’s coming for a latte?, I’d say. My long ago friend Meg. She writes for Saveur magazine, and it’s been far too long since we whipped up a dinner party in the old wooden kitchen at Dover Heights. It’d be great to talk food again, now she’s in the A list.
Sharing a coffee with Brad Pitt, he reminds me of a cafe latte, sweet and a bit milky ♥
Can you tell I want to win! This time I’ll say Toby puttock as I love his food philosophy
Coffee runs in my veins and I’d love to share a cup with Brad Pitt: if Brad appears up my wife is happy and if I’m lucky he’ll bring Angelina along and I’ll be ecstatic!
I’ve been thinking, and thinking ..someone famous, presumably alive? But not intimidating because I don’t want to detract from my coffee. (Seriously people your coffee is going to get cold while you’re ogling your idols!) Then it came to me – invite a kid, they don’t intimidate me, and they don’t drink coffee, more for me (always thinking) so my choice is …Crown Princess Mary’s children. They’re famous, plus I’d get to meet the Mum & Dad when they drop the kids off.
John Edward; there isn’t anyone who wouldn’t want to have some message from a loved one whose passed. Coffee and contact!
angelina jolie and espresso? who would say no

I would like to have a coffee with John Malkovich, great actor and as the ‘higher/lower power’ in georges coffee ad i think he would be much more interesting to have a coffee with! in the time it takes to have a coffee i could appear interesting too- not just a stalker!!!
I would love to have a coffee with Hugh Jackman – he seems to be down to earth with a genuine love for his family
Happy New Year everyone!
I know it is cheesy but it would have to be my mum Sue. She will be over in July from the UK to meet her first grandchild on her first ever trip to Australia so a very special visit. My mum loves nothing more than a coffee and good chat and I have been raving to her about the great coffee we have here and we will obviously have so much to talk about. I would love to be able to brew her up one of the very best from my own machine after my barista lesson and it would also call for a big slice of the moistest, most scrummy, hummingbird cake (extra cream cheese would be a must) which is another Aussie classic I have raved about….it would be our perfect afternoon!
It would have to be Oprah, she is the most amazing woman and has lived such an amazing life im sure I could learn so much from her.
Ah, memories. I would love to have my beautiful Mum back with me, she could meet her granddaughter Jessica and discover what a coffee “freak” she is. I could make the coffee for bother of them and watch the magic.
Well Nigella Lawson would be good value just to see her facial expressions when she enjoys her coffee. Of course I would have to bring along the husband if he found out where I was going!
I’d like to invite YOU, Lorraine, to share a cuppa and get plenty more tips and hopefully you’d bring the afternoon tea:)
Actually if you weren’t able to make it, Lorraine, then I’d have to say I’d invite Jamie Durie. He’s great at dishing the dirt and sharing my morning coffee with him would be the start of a blooming good day.

I would love to have him over and share our love of music. The passion and his musical talent combined will be sweet enough, so no sugar will be required! =)
That’d DEFINITELY be Iron Chef Mario Batali for me. I’d love to know more about his life and how he got into the cooking world. I’d also ask him about tricks/tips to make homecooked Italian food. I’ve got so many questions to ask my idol that I’d probably use the whole pack of coffee beans!!
I think I’d invite Mick Jagger,Lady Gaga,and David Bowie
What an awesome prize
In fantasy-land, I’d invite Kevin Rudd over. I want to know everything – what happened, who moved against him, who was on his side, if he saw it coming… and when he’s going to make a move. Without cameras, and good enough coffee, I might get a real answer. In reality, though, I’d probably sit down with my stepdad for a coffee. I just found out he has cancer for the second time, and I wish I had the nerve to sit down with him and have a good chat about his life and whether he’s genuinely happy and satisfied with what he has achieved.
It would have to be Kurt & Courtney’s love child….
Francis Bean!!
I would love this, I move in to my new place soon and that would look great on my kitchen bench. I would live to have Jamie Oliver over for coffee, apart from the fact that his daughter has the same name as me, I love his cooking it’s uncomplicated and simple, would love him to share a coffee and I’ve me some good tips. have most of his books and cook his recipes as often as I can.
Or maybe George clooney, to prove to him that nespresso coffee is really not THAT good
Coffee with Hugh Grant would liven up the day… would love to share a few laughs with him.
When I get my new Saeco Intella …..I’d invite Sophia Loren over, for the true Italian “perfetto” indulgence. Imagine sharing my Coffee and biscotti in the presence of this exquisite, classy, sensuous, Italian creation…. Oh, … and with Sophia too!
Oooh, this is tough. You or Pioneer Woman, for the joy and food (and joy of food) you both have brought me.
The Queen, because she is fascinating and has had an amazing life.
The Bondi Rescue boys, because I am loving the show lately, they do an amazing job, and hubba hubba.
Maggie Beer – who wouldn’t want s coffee with Maggie? She seems so down to earth.
Wim Wenders. My idol. I’m sure we’d bond over pulling all nighters and the importance of coffee for the creative juices…:p
I reckon I’d like to have a cuppa with Julia Gillard..I know what your thinking.. but no I just want to find out if what you see on tv is what you get..and is she really as bad as they make her out???
George Clooney, to ask how he really feels about doing *those* coffee ads, and to show him my newly found skills of course!
I would love to sit down and have a coffee and chat with Robert Downey Jr. I think that hearing the stories he would have to tell would be most interesting. a very talented person who has gone through a lot in his life and still been able to come back and share his talent with the world.
I’d love to invite my best friend so we can catch up!
Today would be a good day to invite Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson for a cup of coffee since I’ve lost my checkbook.
I’d love to invite Brad Pitt over for coffee (minus angelina and her brood)
I’d invite Peter Everett. I’d really like to find out why he’s no longer on Ready Steady Cook. Watched the show a few times after he left but it just wasn’t the same.
I enjoy my coffee hot and steamy,
with milk to make it frothy and creamy,
I’ll express it with Orlando Bloom,
Miranda’s not invited,
I’m serving it in the bedroom.
Peter kurivita, so I can share the bit of my heart that has Sri Lanka in it.
Ooohhh I’d love to make a cup of coffee for Heston Blumenthal! Who else will best admire the “Espresso Perfetto” but him! Same with his philosophy that eating is a multisensory experience, I believe that drinking coffee is also all about sight, smell and taste! I’m pretty sure he’ll invite me to be one of his guests in the show, Heston’s Feasts, in return! Amazing how a self-taught chef like him became one of the greatest chefs in the world today with three Michelin stars under his belt. So inspiring!
I would love to invite Michael J Fox & listen to what he has to say about life, success and facing illness.
Arousing aroma, seductively blended, irresistible – and so stylish……now I’ve lost my train of thought…..was I talking about my dream coffee date, George Clooney or the Philips Saeco Intelia?
I’d invite someone I could share plenty of laughs with, such as Ben Stiller. He’d be very entertaining & it would definitely lift my spirits for the rest of the day!
What an amazing prize,
That I’d love but can’t justify to buy.
Some wonderful names on this blog,
But no-one has mentioned Red Dog.
I think it would be grrr8t to share a brew,
With a famous dog so loyal and true.
Today my coffee guests would be Chow Yun-fat, Jet Li, and Phoenix Kim(from Kung Fu Hustle) since I’m at home sick so that makes it **KUNG FU MOVIE DAY **
Of course it would have to be Meryl Streep,
A lady of such talent to make us weep!
I’d melt the heart of the Iron Lady,
With my talents making a Saeco Latte!
Anna Wintour editor of Vogue. The only person classy enough as an accessory for a Saeco Intelia, to sip coffee in true style!
I don’t think he’s very famous, but Brian Egan and his wife Nerida are super celebrities in my eyes. They are the founders of Aussie Bush Helpers, and are tireless workers helping the Australian farmers, and country people in general. I’m sure they’d enjoy a cuppa at my place.
Definitely Zumbo, would love to share a coffee with him, hear his wonderful stories and get some first hand tips from the modern day Willy Wonka.
I would love to share a coffee with Pat Farmer, and hear all about his great Pole to Pole run
I will invite the one and only brilliant Adriano Zumbo because I would love to get tips on how to bake his delicious cake and dessert creations.
I realise I’m not the first to say this, but George Clooney (although I guess he may be contractually prevented from attending). I think he’s an intelligent, quirky person and I would love to discuss his thoughts on the US government and movie making. Nothing to do with his looks, not at all (cough).
I would have coffee with me.
Obviously.
If I won I’d invite Noel Fielding over for the best coffee date of my life! And then lock all the doors and keep him my prisoner
I’ve been away from home for the last 5 months (work related) so even though I wouldn’t give him any of the fab coffee, I would love for my 3.5year old son to come and have a “coffee” date. Im sure this fab machine could whip up something for him too?
Keanu Reeves. And I would very solemnly ask him:
The blue cup, or the red cup?
Having such a colourful personality PINK would be a purely entertaining guest
I would invite Anthony Quinn who was born in Mexico in 1915 and died in 2001. Apart from being a famous actor, he was also a painter and writer and he once said about coffee, “Actually, this seems to be the basic need of the human heart in nearly every great crisis – a good hot cup of coffee.”
I have had a rather traumatic time of late with my husband diagnosed with lung cancer and my elderly cat having to be put to sleep. I feel a good cup of strong coffee and a chat with Anthony and how he dealt with what life dished up to him could be just what I need!
Justine Clarke – that way she can have baby cino’s with my kids and entertain them while I have a coffee in peace
It would be a delight to grind it with those guys from twilight. Either one, I don’t mind.
I’ll find out if they really bite.
(apologies for the rique puns but really want that excellent coffee machine).
Rolf Harris because I know he loves a good coffee and I like to ask him if I can paint him for the Archibald Art Prize
Having Dame Edna Everage for a cup of coffee is an occasion to bring out my best crockery!
Just had a thought over lunch and I am getting ‘greedy’. About numbers of guests, that is
! Well, I have adored Stephen Fry from the time noone could pick him out of a crowd: Now if I could have the first cup just with him to get the conversation going, and then, Charlie Pickering [of 'The Project' +++] could kind’of drop in to take the conversation apart . . . I wonder in which direction the said conversation would go? Delicious thought
!
This is such an awesome prize I’ve entered nearly every day to give myself a better chance. I’m running out of a celebrities I’d want to invite, so asked my husband for some help. His only suggestions are Dr. Fred Hollows, or Slim Dusty. If the person is no longer with us, are we able to pretend? or doesn’t it count?
Dolly Parton because she would be fun, lively, make drinking coffee seem like the highlight of my day and we could have a singalong at the same time.
Today I’d have Colin Firth over for a couple shots of espresso
I’d love to sit & listen to Nigella Lawson’s lovely voice all afternoon over coffee!
I’d love to sit down for a cuppa with Tilda Swinton. She looks positively unearthly (in a lovely way of course!) and I’d love to pick her brains about her quirky style. I wonder how it extends to her taste in delicious treats?
How could you go past Richard Gere? Dreamy!
Think I’ll take a shot a Kim, and find out why she pulled the pin.
(By the way would have it at the place you were talking about in your newsletter than had 16 types of scones on the menu, although might pick some-one else not sure if Kim Kardashian eats).
I will invite Adriano Zumbo who I admire for his creativity and innovation in the art of making dessert, cake, pastry and confection.
Judge Judy.
Only cause she is on tv right now and it would be totally wanky to say you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Valdez
Maggie Smith. My God, she is fabulous.
Have just been watching Dick Smith. Now he’d be an interesting man to have a round for a cuppa. I’m passionate about supporting the Australian farmer, and try really hard to support our cottage industries. He’s just opened a new online shop with the most beautiful range of Australian products. Just a little worried some of it is out of my price range.
I would love to invite Bette Davis over for a cuppa as she was and is the greatest actress ever
Oprah as she would be full of goss and she is a really feeling and genuine person. I bet she’d love a coffee with me, I’d make her laugh.

I’d invit you! Will you bake something to enjoy with it?
Anthony Bourdain, I could listen to hours of his stories of food and travels to exotic parts of the world.
Father Chris Riley would be my choice because he devotes his life to caring for and helping those that others have given up on. He deserves to put his feet up and enjoy a fabulous coffee and have someone take care of him for a while. He is incredible.

I’d love to invite Elvis over for a coffee – lol stupid but hey if he turns up it puts that whole dead or alive thing to rest.
My first instinct is to say someone amazingly good looking, like Jason Statham or Usher. But I would be so captivated and googly eyed (i cant play it cool) that my coffee would go cold and more than likely end up with drool in it. My other thought was Ricky Gervais but he is so witty that my coffee would end up coming out my nose while laughing, and that’s never good. So my final answer would have to be Pink. For some reason she seems so down to earth and approachable that I think we would have a blast.

Brad Pitt!
My previous comment is self-explanatory I am sure – hope I don’t drool in that lovely coffee though!
I’d ask Henry Ford – he, or at least his Model T Ford changed the world as we know it. Reading about him, he seems like such a complex person. At times coming across as very generous and at other times a tyrant. Maybe a cup of coffee would chill him out and show what sort of person he really was.

My invitation would go to Kate Winslet! Her performances are absolutely incredible and always so authentic, and she seems so genuine as well – not at all caught up with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood life. It’d be amazing to sit down and have a coffee with her
It would be Zumbo himself. And over coffee I would serve him my hazelnut and mocha macaron with a hint of frangelico in both. Nothing beats a macaron and coffee.

My dearest friend Y. We’ve been very close for about 10 years now, but we haven’t had the opportunity to meet in person. Given that I intend her to be my maid of honor, we should probably remedy that.
As I’ve recently just finish watching Sherlock, I would invite Steven Moffet or Mark Gatiss over for coffee so I can grill them about the series.
Nigella Lawson! To see how many sugars she adds!
Sure, it’d be great to invite a celebrity over but that would mean stressing over the mess and the children and what to wear, causing huge headaches! Instead I’d stick with my BFF. We’ve enjoyed coffees together all over town, checking out each new cafe as they arrive on the scene, but how refreshing would it be to kick back in my own home and serve the best coffee in town!

I’ve always admired Gai Waterhouse. She seems to have boundless energy, she’s fearfully loyal, and I think that’s a wonderful trait.I don’t think she’d like me though, so not sure I’d be brave enough to invite her in for a cuppa, but she’d be very welcome.
Now? The Obamas,

Or Margaret Atwood so I could get some insight into where her amazing stories come from? Or my closest friends and family…so they are impressed by my barista skills thanks to my new Saeco Intelia machine? Sorry mum, I’m picking Jamie Oliver!

Hi. I’d love to have a coffee with Dr Chris O’Brien. He was a head surgeon at RPA and appeared on the RPA tv show. He developed a brain tumor which despite radiation, surgery and Chemo ended in the loss of his life.
I would love to know how he felt as a patient, and how radiation, and Chemo feels. I lost my son (he was 14 at the time) in Nov 2010 – after a bone marrow transplant (my daughter donated her marrow) he had radiation to his head and total body and Chemo. I’d love to know what he thought about the process – something I didn’t get a chance to ask my son Liyan as he was extremely sick for nearly 6 months after his transplant and didn’t get to come home. Coffee is a special bond that Liyan and I had – I am a coffee lover and taught Liyan to appreciate coffee from instant to expresso. No one else in the family will have one with me. RIP prof Chris O’Brien and my beautiful Liyan xoxo

l would like to invite Keith Richards he has had a life that seems like it came from a novel and he does seem like he could use a good cup of coffee.
I’d have to invite Johann Sebastian Bach. Like me Bach was a notorious coffee snob. He wrote a cantata describing his love for the bean.
The Coffee Cantata.
The piece was a moral treatise on the place of coffee in daily life. The protagonists were a father and a recalcitrant coffee addicted daughter who would not forgo her daily java. The father demanded she do so lest she forfeit the right to marry and she relents… seemingly. Although in a sub clause of sorts she indicates she’ll only marry a fellow coffee snob – sage advice indeed.
The uplifting final movement brings the father, daughter and narrator together to sing a song expounding on the benefits of coffee and proclaiming it “natural”.
I could provide the coffee and he could deliver some amazing entertainment:)
Oh my trusty old coffee machine has blown up recently. It was never a good one anyway. I would love to entertain Colleen McCullough with a good Coffee and long chat, she is one amazing woman with an amazing mind.

Am having huge fun reading everyone’s ideas. Well, mine are progressing [and only those from OZ would understand
!]. I absolutely love the wit and humour oft shown by all in the team on ‘The Project’ on Channel 10 here. The machine surely makes coffee at fair speed, so I would love to be somewhat a ‘fly on the wall’ during an informal coffeefest and see what they really say when off air
! Explosive laughter, methinks?
My Mum – so we can talk about babies!
My coffee partner today is going to be the air conditioner salesman because I need a good deal on one.

I’d be happy sharing it with a barista so that they could show me how to use it
Donna Hay, hopefully she could spend some time helping me style food! I’d cook some treats and we could have coffee and set them up for photos
I would love to share a coffee with my late Grand Mother she had such a wonderful sense of humour and I was too young to ever thank her and take her for a coffee and cake as she passed when I was young.
Donald Trump is my preference,
For he would come to my defence,
And agree that my husband has no sense with dollars and cents.

A person close to my heart,
A goddess, fine art,
She would walk that extra mile,
Just to see me smile,
My mother, my best friend,
Whose love for me will never end,
Like coffee, she wraps my mind in warmth, That earthy steam,
Sniff of the aroma, Lifts my esteem.
oprah. that woman can talk about anything and everything and is so inspiring. match that with great coffee and im in heaven!
For me it would have to be the composer Richard Wagner. I’d invite him because there is no way a man can compose four operas, call them the Ring Cycle, design them to be performed over four nights in the theatre (15 hours in total) with a massive orchestra and have die hard followers traveling the globe to see his work, and NOT be super interesting to talk to. I’d need the coffee just to keep me awake long enough through hours of conversation!
Brad Pitt is my choice, eye candy for me! Sip on a divine Saeco coffee whilst Angie goes green. Coffee nirvana would be a perfect break from 7 kids for Brad, then when done he can boast of Saeco dominance to his mate George Clooney!
I havent seen my parents since June last year so I would really love to have a coffee date with them. Im sure after so many months of travelling we would have ALOT to talk about (ok I would be in a jealous rage listening to them talk).
Hey entry 475. I’ve seen that on The Beanstalker coffee website, word for word
can’t think of another celebrity, that’s really a stranger to have a cuppa with, so would love my husband to be able to come home from work, and we could share a cuppa with a couple of tim tams
I would invite the genius chef Adriano Zumbo because I’d love to ask him about all those delicious artistic desserts & cakes that he makes.
I’d invite round the talented Geoffrey Rush and congratulate him as Australian of the Year,
But if I know my Aussie icons think he’d rather have a beer!
I need Bill Gates to speed up my computer and I promise to make him a nice cuppa coffee
I’d like Paul Kelly to serenade
While Philips Saeco brewed
He could then enjoy the coffee made
While he scene from veranda viewed
How about.. Michael Clarke today.
Julia Gillard because after the trouble with the tent city activists yesterday I think she needs a cup of coffee to calm the nerves
i would love to have coffee with Dylan Lewis, i was so in love with him on the show ‘Recovery’ growing up, aahhhh nostalgia!
Do you think Anthony Bourdain with his ‘no reservations’ would have no reservation in having coffee with me? I adore his nonchalence, his grasping of any and every situation and his ability to dive full steam ahead into whatever it is, he is offered. I think, after intestines, monkey droppings or cockroach delights, Anthony is entitled to enjoy a Philips Saeco Intelia coffee with me!
I have just found out that I will be going home in roughly 7 weeks time after being overseas with work for the last 5 months!! I think I have 1000 family and friends that I need to have a coffee date with… Might have to share it around hahaha
I’d also have a coffee with Julia Guillard and find out what its like to walk a mile in her shoes. (OOps sorry I mean shoe).
Maggie Beer. She has been working so hard she deserves a good cup of coffee, whilst I get from her all the lovely cakes that would go well with a great cup of coffee sharing with friends and family. Not forgetting myself for that lovely wake up morning coffee.
I’d love a coffee with Olivia Newton John as I think she is a genuine person, and her life story would be interesting
i would like my son (an experienced barissta) to evaluate my coffee-making efforts
So many fascinating people to choose from the mind boggles and each of them very worthy of my company too:) however I’d love to share a coffee from my new (imaginary)Saeco Intelia coffee machine with Kirsty Allsop from “Location location location” ( after I’ve done the barista course). She’s bubbly and bright and loves all things crafty & handmde; I think we’d both enjoy the experience.
Today maybe I invite Janella from Good Chef, Bad Chef. I love, love her show, and am learning so much. Wonder does she drink coffee?
I would have to say the Hot Mr Clooney, after we have discussed coffee machines we could shoot a few hoops. Perfect date!
George Clooney – he can try my way, and then we can try his.
definately cameron diaz
I would have to invite over my best friend, confidant, and wonderful man James. He treats me like a princess every day of the week and his favourite beverage is coffee so I would like to be able to treat him every day with amazing coffee, while we sit and catch up with each other…..
I would invite invite the gorgeous old italian man across the road from where I live. I’d love to hear how he gets his tomatoes so juicy and big over coffee!
My boyfriend looks like George Clooney so wouldn’t it be great to have George over for coffee
To enjoy a great cup of coffee one needs stimulation from a famous connection ie, Jack Nicholson. With one notorious rise of his eyebrow, Jack could set the entire female content of the kitchen on fire! It would be so great to give something back to the actor that gives so much. I would hope that Jack would enjoy a Philips Saeco Intelia coffee with me!
I would love to share a coffee with Aretha Franklin.
She is smooth, dark and full of body, just like a good coffee.
Given a time machine, a WWI vet. My husband would FLIP; he’s a history nerd in general, but loves military/war history and WWI in particular.
Im currently reading the latest Tom Clancy book. I would love to invite him over and pick his brain! Oh the knowledge that would be in there.
Although I’m a great fan, and can’t get enough of cooking shows, I wouldn’t invite any chefs. Imagine how ripped they’d feel being invited for coffee only to find ulterior motives lurking in the background! I think I’d invite Prince Harry, because he has a devilish smile, and I think he would be quite a laugh, and I do like to laugh.
This is the first time I’ve ever left a second comment in one of your comps. As this is a foodie blog there’s a huge temptation to name a favourite Chef but I am resisting that tack:) I worked in a tv station for over 40 years and met literally hundreds & hundreds of famous bods. As I was leaving one night Sir David Attenborough got left on one side of the security gate, I reached across and swiped my ID to let him through. He thanked me and gave me the loveliest smile, so on reflection that’s who I’d love to share a coffee with and get to ask him so many questions about his incredible career.
I would invite Orlando Bloom, so he could sample some of my home made cupcakes and coffee and think twice about going home to Miranda Kerr!!!
Judy James started up our M.S support group. She has done so much for people with all sorts of disability not only M.S. She’s lobbied governments, and been our voice for so many things. She’s having a rotten time at the moment, so would be nice to spoil her back for a change.
I admire Anita Roddick, the owner of The Body Shop. She runs an environmentally sustainable business and creates employment all around the world. For being a successful business woman who inspires as well as mentors others Anita is to be acclaimed. If Anita would share a Phillips Saeco coffee with me it would be an honour to congratulate her on her continuing achievements and praise what she has done (and continues to do) for others.
I’d invite Al Pacino as he’s a coffee lover too. I’m sure that he’d have some very interesting stories to tell about his films!
Ivanka Trump! I love her grounded personality, charm and intelligence. We’d discuss world politics, social changes and fashion secrets
Dr Chris Brown for coffee today… I don’t think I would ever tire of hearing his animal tales!
Donald Trump..not to talk about his hair (or lack of) but to pick his brain on business and how to make mine successful!
Katy Perry so I can get all the gossip!
To start the year with a bang and a treat, I’d definitely choose Hugh Jackman. We could have coffee too…….
Nadal and Djokovic, and I’d spike the hell out of it. The lads deserve it for this. Bloody hell.
Today I’m having a cuppa with Father Bob. Don’t understand why he had to retire because he’s 77, but the pope remains as pope until he dies. Maybe over a cuppa he can explain it.
I would love to invite Australia’s creative genius chef Adriano Zumbo to get some tips on how to make those beautiful sophisticated desserts.
I’d love to invite Julia Child (who sadly passed away). I just finished reading her book ‘My life in France’. Her cheerful character was everywhere in the book :>
I would love to have a coffee with our PM and ask her all the hard hitting questions that she ALWAYS aviods in the media.
Should I be the winner,
I’d certainly be a grinner,
To win the Saeco Intelia
Could certainly be one from Nigella
You may be not quite her
However I know I would but purr
To sit and enjoy a coffee with you
Would for me – certainly do!!
It would be interesting to have coffee with Asher Keddie… I think she has great talent!
Grant Hackett as I’d like to thank him for the wonderful time that he gave my disabled son in a swimming school class that he attended. I’m forever in his debt.
To appreciate a great coffee – I have heard it said you should be Italian; therefore would Robert de Niro, one of our greatest actors of all-time, when asked to come for coffee, reply ‘Are you talking to me?’ Yet, with a Philips Saeco Intelia coffee – surely he would ask – ‘where is the sugar?’ Oh, and with this WONDERFUL barista course you are offering; my husband would make coffee as equally as me
THAT would be amazing (and perhaps, a turn-around)
Please may Robert De Niro come for a coffee with the Saeco Intelia <3
I cooked an awesome pork satay recipe tonight from a Gordon Ramsay cook book. I’ve always been a little turned off by him but it tasted amazing so I’m thinking I should not be so quick to judge and have him over for coffee
P!nk – I’d love to share a coffee and hear parenting tips from a mum with attitude!
I would love to have coffee with Adriano Zumbo because I admire his creativity and originality in making desserts and cakes.
Jeff Fatt, from the Wiggles. He needs a good cup of coffee to help him wake up.
I’d love to have coffee with Anthony Bourdain so we can share our love for Katz’ deli’s pastrami sandwiches together :p
Thanks for the opportunity! I would have to invite Johnny Depp (to dress up as the mad hatter) and then Morgan Freeman to narrate the whole event
I’d like to convert the Queen to drinking coffee
Looking at the above comment… do you think Nigella could be swayed from her Twinings to enjoy a good coffee?
At the sweet age of 43 Dave Grohl is a man who screams success. Through his amazing lyrics and music with ‘Foo Fighters’ or as an accomplished musician – lead singer/guitarist/multi instrumentalist/amazingly talented artist who has shined and just keeps improving. I would love to have coffee with Dave Grohl and ask him of his time with Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) which spring loaded his career and talent. ‘Dave, would you like an espresso, macchiato, latte, cappuccino or afogatto?’ Of course, a proffered barista course would help ensure he enjoyed his coffee as much as me. Oh, Phillips, you make my heart and tastebuds sing
x
ooooh i just read someone elses idea of Adriano Zumbo so i’m stealing it – i can’t master his macaron technique (yes i’ve tried!) so what a perfect very important thing to discuss with a seemingly great bloke over a cup of coffee
Kath and Kim because I could show them how rooolly delicious a good cuppa is. I know they’ve had difficulties making sav’s with milo before but they’d be so impressed at how eeeeesy it is to uuuuse!
Of course I would dearly love to have coffee with my much loved, and sadly departed Mum, Dad, & brother, but they don’t fit the brief, they weren’t famous. So ..I’d invite John Edward, to be the medium (pardon the pun), and while he’s at it, he can bring Elvis to serenade us while I catch up with my loved ones over coffee.
Julia Gillard, only so I can find a way into parliament and get myself a cushie job as a backbencher.
I would love to share coffee with the cast of NCIS. Hs to be my favorite show and would love to meet any of the crew.
today i asked my daughter who we should have coffee with and she says Holly Throsby which I would actually love!!!! she has an awesome kids music album called ‘See’, great gift for kids. as well as being an amazing normal album, one that gets plenty of air time in the muppy house.
What a sensational coffee machine. A coffee with Bob Francis who is a legend of radio in Adelaide would be great as I have listened to him for many years and would love to hear his experiences and have a laugh.
Today I would like to invite John Travolta since he is a pilot he can fly me home to see my family after a nice coffee
Ellen Degeneres because she makes me laugh till I cry
Doctor Harry because he could give me advice on my dog over a nice cuppa.
One amazing actress who has accomplished so much in many areas is Gynneth Paltrow. Not only is she a gorgeous woman juggling her career, 2 children and a dream musician husband (Chris Martin) but she also managed to produce a cooking series in Spain co hosted by Mario Batali. What a woman! I would love to share a cup of Philips coffee whilst chatting with Gynneth. Perhaps, afterwards we could have a little Sangria to complete the whole experience!

Today I’d like to share a cuppa with a whole group of now young adults that used to be my day care children. I’m still in contact with many of them, but haven’t had them together at the same time.
I would love to have Andy Garcia sitting in my kitchen enjoying a coffee with him. I would love to see the look on my husband’s face when he arrived from work as he is a replica of Andy Garcia and has been stopped in the shops before because of it. This would be awesome having the two of them together enjoying a cuppa……..what a lucky lady I would be!!!
After your wonderful offer of a barista course to operate the amazing Philips Saeco Intelia to create a soothing and welcome cup of coffee – Pauline Hanson could grace our doorstep for a coffee and chat. We could have eggs, bacon, tomato fried with chilli + basil with wholemeal toast and a generous cup of latte for breakfast. Pauline is to be admired. Notwithstanding her controversial political views, Pauline is an amazing, hardworking, courageous Australian! She is also prepared to participate in any challenge as witnessed on the recent ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ show. In fact, it would be nicer to have two cups of coffee with Pauline.
The inventor of the Philips Saeco Intelia would be my coffee guest. She/He could then show me how they use the machine to perfection. Failing that… well hard to say, do I want to share?

A famous Irish novelist Maeve Binchy writes from her heart and brings the most amazing characters to life. Reading a Maeve Binchy book is like talking to a long lost friend, therefore to converse with Maeve would be talking to someone you have known all your life. This would make feel you all warm and comfortable. We could sit in the garden under the shade of the fig tree, sip our delightful Philips coffee (which is made perfectly thanks to the beneficial barista course you are offering) nibble on some almond shortbread, enhale the sweet scent of the almost ripe figs and talk about her brilliant books and phenomenal life, all of which are to be admired x

Ryan Reynolds because that gorgeous man is like a good cup of coffee… rich, steamy and I just want to grind him (naughty!)
Hi Lorraine,
, my life is in need of some comedy right now. Alec’s a comedy genius, and one of rarest talent in showbiz these days. His Jack Donaghy would light up my life and spice up my gloomy day. Love love love his ‘purfect’ comedic punch, and that irresistible charm that’s uniquely Alec (that’s the charm of the Baldwin clan I guess!!). 30 Rock is the only show on TV that never fails to crack me up profusely, and Alec’s recent win at the Screen Actors Guild Awards is testament of his true comedic talent. If I win this prize, I can be Alec’s barista any day. That would be my dream job. If he ever loses his temper (and fire me, touch wood), no worries, I can give him a good grinding
What an interesting topic you’ve brewed here! If I were to choose someone famous for a cuppa, it’d has to be Alec Baldwin. Having just been retrenched today
“Coffee’s for closers” – Alec Baldwin
George Clooney, yes he may be slightly older then me- but he seems to like coffee as much as me , a brilliant conversation starter I think
x
I would love to invite Willie Harcourt-Cooze because he could bring the dessert – some divine chocolate thing – to go with the coffee. (He also has a very interesting story about his journey to produce his organic chocolate etc.)
I would invite Ellen over for a coffee. I’m sure she would find a way to make my coffee date amusing.
Miranda Kerr. I’d love to see if she is as down to earth as she seems.
An amazing young lady from the town where, until recently, we also lived – Jessica Watson of Buderim, Qld. She overcame a lack of funding and respect but nevertheless was determined to follow her childhood dream to sail solo, unassisted and non-stop around the world. The remarkably courageous Jessica could provide a fascinating insight into her 210 days at sea over several cups of coffee.
Being pregnant with baby number 8,I can’t have coffee for a few more months. The smell of it drives me wild.I would love to have a coffee with george clooney because he is so sexy.

Well it’s the last day for this competition, which is probably just as well, celebrities really don’t impress me much. Today I’m feeling cross, so I’d invite James Packer for a cuppa and ask him what it feels like to make a living in an industry that causes so much misery to so many people.

I would like to meet Johnny Depp as I find him to be an actor that can portray any role and become the person in the role. I find he is a very gifted and facinating actor. I enjoy watching movies in my theatre room and Johnny would be my favourite male actor.
I would invite George Clooney for coffee because I would like to ask him if he really does prefer nespresso pods
I’d invite comedian Robin Williams. He’d be talking so much that he wouldn’t notice my poor coffee-making skills. I’d probably need a strong one afterwards because although he’s hilarious, he would be a bit draining.
I would invite Condoleezza Rice – imagine the conversation topics! One could discuss anything from the origins of coffee to African-American state politics. It would make an absolutely unique experience. There is nothing like intelligent, witty conversation over a cup of quality coffee.
This is hard because many famous people don’t seem down to earth and would show much interest in having a coffee with me – then I thought of Clarke Gable of Gone With the Wind fame – as the machine will be so new to me, if I don’t make it right he would say like in the book and movie -”Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”. So we could have a chat and I would know that unlike many celebrities, he would not complain if I accidently made it wrong.
Id would love to have my first cup of coffee with Manu Feildel, because he would perc me up for the rest of the day!
I’d HAVE to ask Kim Kardashian over for coffee, put it this way, the grinding of the beans and deliverance of the espresso would be over as quick as her marriage!!
Remember Geoff Jantz? He had a huge influence on Australian cooking in the 80′s and 90′s. A Sri Lankan born Australian with a huge love and flair for cooking, with unique skills and a deep generosity to share his knowledge. Geoff produced books and a very original cooking series ‘What’s cooking’ after many guest appearances on midday television shows. He went on to hold cooking classes at his home in Bowral, Southern Highlands, NSW. Geoff has been quiet for a couple of years now, but I, amongst others, are forever in his debt for his cooking instructions through his shows. Some of his biscuit recipes are still amongst my favourites. To have a coffee with Geoff and thank him for the impact he made on so many lives, when cooking was so NOT mainstream, would be a pleasure. If I had the opportunity to create an amazing Philips coffee for Geoff, then I could thank him for his contribution to Australian households and furthering multicultural cooking in our homes. Geoff too, would appreciate the brilliance of a Philips Saeco Intelia coffee, coming with heartfelt thanks from a fellow Australian.
ROBIN WILLIAMS – I love a GOOD LAUGH over a COFFEE!
I’d invite Helen Mirren for coffee at three,
When we’d indulge in a full High Tea.
Eating from a plate three-tiered high,
Over Saeco made coffee that elicits a sigh.
Ask her about celebrity life in U.K,
While politely nibbling my Almond friand away.
Discussing the time she ate Nigella’s gateau,
All ears and tastebuds over my cappuccino.
She fills me in on Royal news till noon,
In between bites of a pistachio macaroon.
And I ask her about playing “The Queen”,
With a delectable Red Velvet Cupcake in between.
A little distracted by miniature chocolate eclairs,
While Helen confides her lifetime cares.
And fills me in on her latest role,
While unnoticed I pop in another profiterole.
As we finish our High Tea, Helen will proclaim:
“Coffee’s superb” let’s do it again!”
“We’ll organise coffee again by phone”.
“But not too soon” I say with a groan!
I would love to have a cuppa with Betty White!! I think she’d have me in stitches the whole time!! Plus im sooo fond of older people because of their wealth of history and they tend to just take their time and enjoy the finer things in life

I’d invite my husband after I sent him on the barista course. Then he could make it for me!Hey, he loves making coffee and would love this prize. I love drinking it and being lazy – everybody wins!
Porky Pig. As the cups are drained of the very last drop, his famous line is sure to pop. Excellent coffee to end the day and then it’s time for him to say “that’s all folks”
I’ve invite Pink, not because she’s my favourite but so I could make a video, upload it to you tube and make enough money to buy a coffee machine.
