Omg I’m definitely craving soups! I like to stick with chicken and corn as its filling and hearty! I can eat it when I have a cold or just when I’m hungry with some crack pepper!

Oh man, I love these soups but they are so expensive!! I love that they have no artificial colours or flavours and have tried out all their flavours. The moroccan pumpkin with chickpeas is my favourite from them. My favourite soup would be laksa!! so comforting!

I cannot go past Ribollita the Italian veg soup with Cavolo Nero, cannellini beans and lots of vegetables and herbs. I make it every winter and it scores me lots of brownie points. Was a big favourite when I used to give cooking classes.Ciao Roz

With our super chilly weather, there is no wonder that soups are being craved :D
La Zuppa soup sounds delicious and all vegetarian? My hero :D
This prize pack is very generous my friend – thank you :)
My favourite soup to warm me up is a simple, no cream vegetable pasta soup which my mum makes with adding maggie noodles/small pasta, vegetable stock, tons of veggies and spices before boiling it all together to become a fragrant broth style soup – add in some cheese crackers and you have my favourite winter meal :)

    Cheers

It would be handy to have a few of these in the pantry. My favourite soup is minestrone because I like soups with a bit of texture. xx

My mums homemade bacon, vegetable and lentil soup with fresh crusty bread and a selection of cheeses. It gets me every time and was always a favourite after a brisk winter walk in the countryside back home. So good.

I always think of the soup my mother made. It was full of vegetables, barley, soup mix and gravy beef. If only I could have it again!

I just love soups but my daughter won’t eat them. As she’s 30 I can hardly force her ! My favourite soup is hard to choose but old fashioned pea and ham soup, pumpkin and minestrone are favourties.

  • 13. Froggirl | May 26th, 2012 at 7:40 am | #

Hmmmm so many yummy soups to choose from. For me it’s a tie between pea and ham. And pumpkin. Mmmmm might have to go and make some now

I’m going through a BIG vegetarian moment right now so these soups are perfect and guilt free. I hate having to choose just one, but.. Spinach & Chickpea. It’s different and tastes amazing once this pepper addict has freshly cracked some over the top. YUM!

Homemade Spicy Thai Pumpkin Soup, made using coconut cream served with a swirl of Greek yoghurt and crusty bread!

I make a mean roasted pumpkin, (butternut, of course!)garlic and bacon soup, but my Mum’s Pea and Ham would have to be my all time favourite. Last time she flew interstate to visit me she brought me some frozen in an ice cream container!
I’ll have to check out these S&P grinders – my battery operated ones have just given up the ghost!

  • 21. Sarah O | May 26th, 2012 at 8:18 am | #

I love these soups especially as they are gluten free AND delicious. I usually keep one in the pantry for a quick lunch. The Moroccan pumpkin with chickpeas is one of my favs closely followed by Minestrone. Soup is seriously overlooked as a meal and something I plan to change in our house this winter. They are a budget conscious meal and very satisfying.

  • 22. Kate | May 26th, 2012 at 8:20 am | #

Home made warming soup is a family favourite. Potato, leek with bacon is my men’s delight, especially with chunks of bread for dipping.

  • 23. ann | May 26th, 2012 at 8:20 am | #

Thai chicken tom-kha soup is amazing… I like to mix it with some nice freshly cooked basmati or jasmin rice – it makes an amazing meal. Flavoursome, with a touch of heat, tender chicken thigh pieces, loads of mushrooms, aromatic Thai spices… hmmm. HEAVEN.

I just resurrected a family recipe for Greek Avogolemeno soup.It is fabulous and is known as the Greek penicillin soup to our family.Look for a recipe that separates out the egg whites from yolks. There are many simpler recipes but just not as good

  • 33. Kim | May 26th, 2012 at 8:47 am | #

I’m not clear whether you mean which soup from the La Zuppa soups range or my other favourite :)
The Moroccan Pumpkin and Chickpea soup sounds like it would be be my favourite from La Zuppa and warm me to the core.
Aside from La zuppa soups, my favourite soup is (vegetarian) pea soup. This reminds me of my Father’s stories’ as a boy of stealing a big pot of freshly cooked pea soup that his Mother had made because he loved it so much and wanted it all to himself.

  • 34. Kathleen | May 26th, 2012 at 8:48 am | #

  • 41. Rosemary | May 26th, 2012 at 9:30 am | #

Pumpkin gets the vote from me, too. Every time I make it I’m amazed that such simple ingredients can produce such comforting silky warmth.

  • 43. Ladybugfunk | May 26th, 2012 at 9:36 am | #

Definitely my 30plus soup. It’s a Moroccan spiced soup with 30 plus ingredients. :-) I make it in a massive 20 litre pot and fill my deep freezer with wonderfully delicious and healthy ready-to-heat meals. Sometimes I will add a bit of cream or goats cheese and other times a few slices of fried chorizo … so delicious! :-) I’ve also used it as a base for Moroccan baked eggs… which I am just going to have to have for brekkie this morning!

Mulligatawnie will always warm the cockles of your heart especially if your married to a Scotsman – this is a stand your spoon up rich and delicious favorite of mine. I also love zucchini and parmesan which I shared with 10 friends during the week! Always lovely to gather the girls and natter.

All vegetarian soups, yet in the photo it is chicken soup? lol

My favourite soup is one which my best friend and I make together all the time and reminds me of winter.. curling up with a hot bowl of soup with crusty bread – ultimate comfort!

The soup is carrot and potato (blended) with a lovely kick of Mussaman curry paste and coriander. Better than it sounds!

It woukd have to be your crab and butternut squash soup,I could eat the whole pot! It’s delicious and warming for cold weather and I love crab (I’ve been known to put extra crab meat!)yet it is healthy. Thanks Lorraine.

  • 49. Johanna GGG | May 26th, 2012 at 10:08 am | #

I am not sure of my favourite soup because I love so many – it is a toss up between split pea and pumpkin.

You say that La Zuppa soups are all vegetarian but they aren’t – I know because I love taking them to work but accidentally bought the spring vegetable one which had chicken stock so I gave it to a colleague who didn’t want to go out for lunch yesterday because the weather was so bad – I was quite pleased to find a good home for it

  • 50. Gems | May 26th, 2012 at 10:11 am | #

My favourite soup for a cold winter day would have to be Pho. Even more warming when a big pot is made a shared with the extended family. With 24 people and the aroma of Pho throughout the house it is hard to still feel cold.

  • 51. Barbara Weber | May 26th, 2012 at 10:17 am | #

Without doubt my favourite winter warmer is Laksa, whether it be seafood or chicken really doesn’t matter as long as it is loaded with chilli and garlic to chase away all those winter ills

  • 52. Claire K Creations | May 26th, 2012 at 10:23 am | #

I like chunky soups that I can chew. Anything that’s more like stew than soup is a winner.

Having spent half of this freezing morning roasting chicken pieces and vegetables for, I hope, a very moreish chicken soup for lunch I feel I could walk on my knees all the way to Sydney to beg, borrow or steal one of these wonderful packs :D ! [Birthday present :) ?]. The appreciation level would be sky high!! [Huh, my pepper mill also has gone on strike!]. My favourite soup: many, and the pot in the kitchsn will protest, but as far as soulfood goes, a big bowl of minestrone or one of its cousins!!

Love La Zupa! My new favourite soup is a morrocan harira soup my housemate made for me, it’s a delicious combo of lamb shanks, tomato and chickpeas!
I love that La Zupa’s soups are just like homemade but conveniently packaged in single serves so I don’t have the problem of making a big pot of one flavour and then being stuck eating it for a week! P.S my housemate is moving out with the salt and pepper mills so these ones would really come in handy!

  • 60. Ali | May 26th, 2012 at 11:20 am | #

Great prize Lorraine, the Peugeot line of grinders is the bomb! Plus having La Zuppa ready to go soups when you have had one of those days, is simply a bonus!
There are so many great soup recipes but I don’t think you can go past a hearty Pasta e Fagioli (Pasta & Mixed Bean Soup). It’s healthy, filling, comforting and will keep away these chilly days & nights. Serve it with a sprinkling of your best Parmigiano and mop up with slices of Ciabatta
bread! Mmmm, think I’ll make some for tonight’s dinner. :-)

  • 64. Milo | May 26th, 2012 at 11:27 am | #

It has to be french onion soup all the way – just making it warms you up!

My mother’s pumpkin soup. More butter, garlic and sour cream than pumpkin.

Back-up plan: anything with a loooot of pasta/noodles.

I’m currently nursing a sore throat, so my favourite soup at the moment is carrot and ginger soup. Mmmmmm…

  • 67. CathyB | May 26th, 2012 at 12:07 pm | #

When I first tried (minestrone) I thought delicious, authentic home made – just like mine (from my mum of course). And then I bought the others which all proved genuine, hearty and wholesome with no artificial additives – free of colours, thickeners and preservatives. So fat free – 99% – WOW. Teacher Take to school, Microwave magic, S & P, Luscious Lunch with home made bread. Very jealous teacher workmates!

I’ve just got a small pot of chicken and veggie soup warming on the stove as we speak! Can’t wait to devour it! Best thing for lunches in winter time! Especially when you’ve been out in the cold all morning…warms you to the bone!

  • 70. Chris Collins | May 26th, 2012 at 12:16 pm | #

My favorite soup to warm my heart has to be my Mrs’ Tom Yum soup. She has been experimenting with the recipes since our last honeymoon to Thailand, mixing things up a bit to see what works. The soup has a great explosion of flavors with the freshest ingredients – chicken stock, tom yum paste, garlic, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, chicken breast fillets, fresh mushrooms, fish sauce, lime juice, sliced green chillis, fresh coriander and basil (YUM!), simmering together to create a tasty and spicy soup perfect for any season and occasion. There’s nothing that feels like having delicious and spicy Tom Yum soup served with warm rice or bread on a cold winter day, just the two of us or with our extended family, savoring the flavor, freshness and warmth, and sweating it out together! This La Zuppa & Peugeot Mill Sets would be perfect for our winter dining experience!

  • 71. Bec | May 26th, 2012 at 12:19 pm | #

All vegetarian soups? Score! I was in the supermarket the other day and had to put so many soups back because they were made on chicken stock :(

Soup in the winter is the best…and so easy to make too! My favourite warmer at the moment is a new roasted tomato and basil I made…so delicious with parmesan toast!

  • 72. Gin-tonic | May 26th, 2012 at 12:23 pm | #

Does pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) count? Whenever it’s cold, I love grabbing a hot bowl of pho. The beef broth (after simmering for hours) is always so flavorful and warming. Pair that with rice noodles and different cuts of beef and I’m in a very happy place. :)

  • 79. Mary Preston | May 26th, 2012 at 1:03 pm | #

You can’t beat a SPICY TOMATO SOUP on a cold Winter’s Day. Add in some crusty bread and it’s pure manna from HEAVEN.

  • 80. Nina Downes | May 26th, 2012 at 1:13 pm | #

There is nothing quite as good as a pea and ham soup bubbling away on the stove all afternoon. The smell the house gets is just divine. I did that last Sunday and I suspect we will do it many more times before winter is finished!

Chicken noodle soup. With heaps of pieces of chicken, I use the thigh, asian thin egg noodles, onion, garlic (good for this time of year) and chicken stock with a dash or two of sesame oil (I’m heavy handed with this, I love it)and soy sauce. It’s easy, delicious and the whole family eats it, no matter what the age. :)

Homemade Pea and Ham is hearty and feels like a real meal. The ham hock adds a depth of flavour the compliments the cooked split peas beautifully. As a child I hated this soup, but as an adult its my favourite.

I love potato and leek soup in the winter months with lots of crusty fresh bread to dip. If I’m feeling naughty I’ll put a swirl of cream in the middle! However, I am a big soup fan and will eat almost any flavour and if time permits I love to make my own. Mmmm, gotta go now my stomach is rumbling and craving for soup for some strange reason!

I always make minestrone and potato, leek and bacon many times in winter, I like to have it with home made crusty sour dough bread straight out of the oven , with lashings of butter, even my kids though none live at home now make a point of asking if I’m making one of them next time the come to visit i will go out of my way to do i just for them ,

My favourite soup has to be left over roast vegie soup. I don’t have it often because usually ther are no roast vegies left. It dosen’t matter whether it’s just left over potato or pumpkin or a bit of everything just put vegies in saucepan with some dried onion and some vegie stock and bring to the boil, simmer and either blitz or serve thick and chunky YumYUm.

    The Greek chicken soup Avgolemono.
A whole chicken is boiled to make a stock of chickeny goodness, in which short grain rice, shredded chicken and lots of lemon juice whipped in eggs is added, to make this creamy soup the perfect remedy to the dreaded flu or cold nights.

A good, thick, chunky soup is always my preference. I love my mum’s bacon bone soups, but I make a delicious and super versatile chilli, tomato, vegetable & pumpkin soup which I always have on hand to put on steak, eggs, or just on its own.

I’d have to say my favourite and one that I’ve made 3 times so far this fall is Chicken Soup with Dumplings. My Dad used to make a large pot of it every winter back in Canada for my sisters and I, it was always a race to see who could get the most dumplings ;-)

I also have two other soups that I love to make, Split Pea Soup with Ham and Beef and Barley Soup. Though when I make soups I tend to go really heavy on the veggies, I’ve even added chopped apple and pears to the soups I’ve mentioned. :-D

  • 131. Rhiannon | May 27th, 2012 at 4:25 pm | #

I love to make chicken, lemon and pasta soup with cracked black pepper (of course)…however I currently have no pepper grinder and I am a huge fan of Peugeot! I love them so.
I also make a really nommy lentil and vegetable soup, seasoned with cumin, coriander and pepper – it is savoury, soothing and warming without tasting offensively nutritious!
A soup I tried recently and would love to try my hand at was a roasted garlic, potato and lemon soup made with home-made vegetable stock – seriously more-ish. Even my four-year-old scooped it all up and asked for more.
But the soup I make the most often is chicken and vegetable with either pasta or pearl barley – when my four-year-old asks for ‘normal soup’, that’s what he means!

  • 132. Ichigo Shortcake | May 27th, 2012 at 4:26 pm | #

I think my favourite would have to be tom yum soup, but really, I like all soups whether it’s pumpkin, tomato, chicken & corn, or my mum’s delicious potato/tomato/pork ribs soup, they’re all so warm and comforting…I really need a soup right now, the Melbourne weather’s killing me.

  • 133. AmberB | May 27th, 2012 at 4:40 pm | #

Vegetable soup …. but not just any vegetable soup, but my Mum’s! It is the bomb-diggidy!

  • 134. Aimee Thomson | May 27th, 2012 at 4:48 pm | #

Growing up, my Mum never really cooked me a good, ‘proper’ dinner. It was all frozen foods and takeaways, hence why I became the household cook at 8!
However, what I do remember is Mum’s pumpkin soup, which I still get her to make for me to today when I need instant comfort. I used to relish the days she said we were having it for dinner!
Not too long ago, I asked her what was actually in it, and all it is is a butternut squash, a potato, and some vegetable stock whizzed together, and then we always dolloped sour cream and sprinkled curry powder on top. Who knew it was that simple!?!

Yummo! xx

My favourite lately has been to just grab whatever root vegies I have on hand, chop them up, throw them in the slow cooker with some vegie stock, maybe some seasoning, maybe some spice and let it rock! Sometimes it gets blended and sometimes it just gets mashed a little so there’s still chunks … either way it’s warm and delicious and just right for this time of year.

  • 156. Naz | May 28th, 2012 at 10:10 am | #

I love my family’s chicken and rice soup, it’s very similar to congi but not mushy and uses only chicken (on the bone), rice, crushed vermicelli, onion and salt and pepper. The chicken is boiled first with a piece of cassia bark (or cinammon if not available) and this creates the delicious base for the soup.
This is the family’s antibiotic during winter.

I make a version of Chicken Minestrone that leaves them lying in the isles. NO ONE, but no one doesn’t like it. Even when I make a vege only version it still goes down a treat. You can put so much into it. Just stary with frying the onion garlic and hard vegetables and the rest just takes care of itself! The La Zuppa sounds great but it is expensive and you can make your own using fresh veges and then freeze it. So would love to try it!

A soup I make weekly throughout winter is my mainstay. My wife cooks the rest of the week so I love to make this for our family. It is a Corn and Kumara Chowder.
Firstly, saute a finely diced onion in butter and add 4 rashers of shredded smoked bacon as well as 400gr kumara cut into small cubes. I cover and sweat this over low heat for 5 mins. I then add 2 cups of corn kernels and minced or shredded chicken thigh fillets. Stir this well and add 2 cups chicken stock, a bay leaf and simmer gently for ten minutes. I then add a roasted and peeled red capsicum which has been cut into finely diced pieces and season with 1 cup of milk, fresh parsley and some snipped chives.
This is an amazingly tasty and healthy soup and is even nicer the next day. A dollop of fresh or sour cream finishes it off nicely. Enjoy!!

  • 173. Amy | May 29th, 2012 at 11:33 pm | #

Anyway, I love their soups as well, my favourite soup would be My favourite soup would be the delicious soup you get from hot pot after all the ingredients have been put and has been simmering away. In China, I had this amazing mushroom one and I still remember it to this day. Another instance, we liked the soup so much my grandpa asked to take the bones home so he could recreate it!! and they gave it to us :) , I guess they’re used to that kind of thing over there. Oh man, I would love the salt and pepper shakers. My grandpa really needs some at the moment, like all old people he is convinced that if you shake it hard enough it will come out. Only problem, it comes out in the balls and because he’s asian he doesn’t want to buy anything that still might be working. Anyway, I love their soups as well, my favourite soup would be My favourite soup would be the delicious soup you get from hot pot after all the ingredients have been put and has been simmering away. In China, I had this amazing mushroom one and I still remember it to this day. Another instance, we liked the soup so much my grandpa asked to take the bones home so he could recreate it!! and they gave it to us , I guess they’re used to that kind of thing over there. I’m sure grandpa would really appreciate it.

Each winter I will try a new recipe or two for variety but I always go back to a recipe a friend gave me nearly 30 years ago. It has no fancy flavours but makes a soup that is not thick or thin and a good balance of flavours.

I just love creamy rich tomatoe soup on a cold winters day with fresh crusty Italian bread and butter, so delicious and warms the body and soul.

I just can’t go past good old fashioned pumpkin soup, with a nice crusty bread, sometimes the simple things are the best

If I ever needed a ‘Last Supper’,
    It would be a ‘Creamy leek & asparagus soup;
because it’s highly yummy, and asparagus make your bones tougher!
A healthy salt sprinkle with lashings of pepper,
would taste amazingly bettter grinded with a Mill Set from Peugeot & La Zuppa :)

I really love my own Cauliflower & Chicken Chowder, sprinkled just before serving with a little mozzarella cheese & cracked pepper.
