Do you feel that warmth in the air? Oh yes that’s the much yearned-for peachy blush of Spring coming up! Time to throw off the wooly layers and snuggly quilts and time to put on a frock. And do I have an occasion for you
It’s time for Dilmah’s Charitea event! This year, they’re holding two Charitea events, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

Hosted by Peter Kuruvita, the Sydney high tea is held at The Langham (formerly The Observatory Hotel) on Wednesday September 12th, 2012. In Melbourne, the event will be held at The Terrace at the Royal Botanical Gardens on Monday the 3rd of September, 2012. The event is to raise money for the MJF Foundation or the Merrill J. Fernando Foundation which was set up to benefit the underprivileged as well as nature conservation. Over the years they’ve helped tens of thousands of children better their lives.

The high tea will feature sandwiches, scones, sweet tarts, savoury goodies as well as two of their award winning recipes: an Orange and Almond Tea Baklava and a Green Tea with Jasmine Smoked Duck Breast with CeleriacRemoulade on Brioche Toast.

This year it is invite only but thanks to Dilmah, I have 5 double passes to give away Stop the presses! We now have 10 double passes to win to either the Sydney or Melbourne Charitea event! For a chance to win, all you have to do is tell me what your favourite type of tea is and how you have it and please don’t forget to tell me whether you would like to go to the Sydney or Melbourne event! And because the events are on soon, this competition duration is for one week only and ends at 5pm, the 31st of August! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia but transport to and from the venue is not included.
Good luck!
Love,
Lorraine

I love lapsang souchong which I believe is not yet available chez Dilmah; I quite like their orange pekoe blend – strong and elegant. Would love to be at the Sydney event. Thank you
Gobsmacked
My favourite tea is definitely chai! I look forward to making a bit pot of it every weekend, nice and strong with skim milk and honey.. yummy!!
I have recently tried licorice tea and it is delicious!!! I have an organic one, which I believe is great for a sweet tooth to relieve some cravings (although doesn’t always work) and is good for fatigue, cold and flu and soothing the stomach…and its yummy! Get into it!
Would love tickets to Sydney!
My tea of choice rose Earl Grey tea, which is a subtle, smooth and aromatic twist on the traditional. I love it with some afternoon pick me ups, like butter tea cake or lamingtons. Definitely helps them go down easier
My favourite tea is green tea, just straight, but I do not leave the tea bag in for long. Would love to go to the Sydney event. Thank you do much.
My favourite tea is dilmah mint green tea i make up a big mug after the family is fed and ive cleaned up and head to my room and take some time out to have a read through recipe books and mags its one of my favourite parts if the day – sooo relaxing!!

Served hot with a little milk..
Mmm mmm
Russian caravan, without a doubt. With milk and sugar!
Would love tickets to Sydney please.
I love all types of tea and probably drink way too many cups each day! My favourite would have to be a simple green tea and mint with a little squeeze of honey. Lovely
I would love to go to the Sydney High Tea, it sounds amazing!
My friends know I love tea so for my birthday, I got 2 of my favourite teas from T2 (green with rose and gorgeous geisha), a cup from Sri Lanka and a floating octopus tea infuser. What’s funny is they didn’t arrange it amongst themselves! I’m loving the green with rose it’s got the most amazing smell which comes from the mango, currents, rose petals and papaya. I add a bit of cold water, boil the hot water (to get it around 80 degrees)and then put the infuser on top and take it out after 2 mins. The lady at T2 suggested 1/3 cold and the rest hot as green tea leaves burn and can taste bitter at high temperatures.
I love the softer versions of Earl Grey like Lady Grey, Lavender Grey etc. T2 blue mountain tea is also a particular favorite. Dilmah English breakfast is also particularly good. I’d love to go to the Melbourne one, sounds fabulous
Lorraine, I am not participating (well, when are you going global?!)
but just need to tell you how beautiful your photos are! I love that elegant tea setting… I think I need to travel to Australia to get me one, or at least England…
Well, which tea is my favourtie. So many to choose from. *Sigh. OK, I know, there is one tea that reminds me of my childhood. Sitting with my Grandma Cammie watching the river drift by as the horses grazed in the field. That tea was called Constant Comment. It has this heady smell of all things warm and sweet with a hint of orange. When I had a hard day of training on my horses, I would always end the day with just one cup of perfecty steeped Constant Comment with just a spoonful of sugar or huckleberry honey. Heaven. This is my comfort tea. A tea that we purchase in the US and bring over here for those special winter days that just require a great comforting tea. NQN-I would love to go to the Sydney Charity Event!!!
I love English Breakfast Tea for breakfast, lunch and tea…and in between!
I’m not sure how it works but tea can wake you up in the morning, give you a boost during the day and be calming and sleep inducing at night.
Relaxing or invigorating, tea’s an integral part of my life!
We would LOVE to go to Sydney
It’s hard to choose one favourite tea – with numerous in the cupboard for different times of day – i love rooibos or nettle for a herbal afternoon. But the first cup of tea in the morning – the most important – has to be earl grey. Taken strong with a dash of soy milk.
And sorry Sydney please
I love the Dilmah execptional range my favourite is their Rose with French Vanilla which I enjoy black in a glass mug late in the afternoon. Even though I live in Qld I would love to go to the event in Melbourne as I can take my beautiful well deserving Mother-in Law
I like most teas, dependant on the time of day & circumstance; cant go past my Dilmah extra stong to start the day & any time during the day when I am at home; but when out & about I love an iced tea on a hot day; Earl Grey for a spot of afternoon tea at a cafe; I have been drinking tea for as long as I can remember, it is my fondest memory of my mum both of us sitting at the kitchen table in our dressing gowns having a pot of tea….
I would love to attend in Sydney! Tea is something relatively new to me (I know where have I been) and I’m loving the herbal teas, currently Peppermint is my favourite and I like it with a splash of fresh lime. I would love to attend the fundraiser, thanks for the chance.
Lorraine – sorry I didnt put Sydney as our preference
I love earl grey tea. Always weak, no sugar and with milk. If I won I would love to go to the Sydney event
Classic English Breakfast with 1/2 a sugar and Milk in bed in the morning.
Sydney.
thanks
Earl Grey – Love that bitter sweet taste and with a clove in it just makes it extra good.
SYDNEY
Camomile as I feel like I am in a field of daises (SYD)
I always drink my ‘English Breakfast’ in the evening with just a hint of mil and always in Fine Porcelain. It really does taste better – just like Gran said.
SYD Event please
What a lovely giveaway Lorraine. Wow, some of the teas mentioned in the pervious comments sound so good I can see that I’m going to have to try some.
I’m a coffee drinker from way back when I was first allowed to partake of ‘adult’ drinks and my memories of tea are of my mum drinking steaming hot tea at breakfast time and ‘dunking’ buttered toast into it – yuk! However, in recent years I’ve come around to the enjoyable pastime of partaking of a refreshing cup of tea. I’ve come to enjoy Earl Grey with lemon and honey (no muddying it up with milk) and recently discovered the Dilmah Green tea with Lemongrass which is not only refreshing but also very good for you. In Thailand for my daughter’s wedding a couple of years ago I tried ginger tea with a gorgeous sugar syrup and really enjoyed that. So, even tho’ I still love a cup of coffee, I now have another passion.
Should I be lucky enough to receive tickets to the High Tea, the Sydney Event would be my choice.
I love chai tea made the traditional way. Heat water on a pan, add chai tea along with a bit of sugar or honey, a piece of ginger, cardamom and cinnamon and milk. Boil. Strain and drink. Yuuuum. Perfect on a cold wintery day.
Hello. I won’t enter as live in Perth but Heidi’s description of Constant Comment tea made me interested so I googled it. You can buy it from Amazon and other places – has orange rind and spices – sounds lovely.
I should add if i win, Sydney please!
Earl Grey for me, anywhere, anytime – whoever first punned ‘fifty shades of earl grey’ struck a chord with me.
Sydney would be great.
I’d love to go to the Sydney event please
I love the Earl Grey loose leaf. Brewed in a ceramic teapot, served straight in a pretty vintage cup & saucer with a slice of lemon. HEAVEN!
Hello,
that sounds amazing! I am definitely tea person, love almost any kind of tea, good black tea with a bit of lemon or milk in the morning, iced rosehip and hibiscus tea during a day and rosted brown rice green tea with a bit of milk or pu erh tea in the afternoon
I would love to go to the Sydney event, thank you for this opportunity!
Oh wow, how I love, love, love my High Tea and this one from Dilmah sounds exquisite and extra special as it’s a fundraiser.
Well as you know Lorraine, I’m a big coffee freak but I do like my tea as well. In fact, I don’t arise if hubby hasn’t brought me a steaming cup of Dilmah Darjeeling with one tsp. of sugar and milk to rouse me.It’s my favourite brew followed by Earl Grey.
One day I would love to holiday in an exotic Tea Estate sitting high above sea level in either Sri Lanka or India and look across the undulating green plantations.Simply watching the world go by!
Sydney venue please.
Has to be chai tea – the aroma of all those spices – love The Langham essence as well – Sydney please.
I solve the problems of the world whilst sipping a cup of Earl Grey, world peace, no disease, no hunger ….. Hmmm
I would love to go to the Sydney event! My all-time favourite would be my afternoon Earl Grey, very hot, milk and lots of sugar. Makes the rest of the day livable….
Rose flavoured tea or any blend of green tea without caffeine. I add just a drop of milk and 1 sugar to take the edge off. I love toast with rose petal jam with my tea… Beautiful.
My current favourite tes is Russian Caravan….black, no sugar! Though I ALWAYS have some Earl Grey in the house for late arvo pick-me-up! I would love to lucky enough to win tix to the Sydney high tea!
I would love to go to the Sydney event please.
My favourite tea? Now thats a tough one…. English breakfast white & sweet is my prefered morning tea. It wakes me up & gets me going. For the afternoon I love a cup of Dilmahs Rose with French Vanilla unless I am stressed & then it is a comforting cup of Chammomile…& when I am sick I can’t go past a cup of Lemon tea with honey.
I love fragrant jasmine tea – and no need for the tea strainer, just sprinkle a few leaves in, add hot water, and watch the flowers and leaves come to life!
What beautiful photos and a lovely event. Maybe one day they’ll do one in Brisbane.
I love a nice hot cup of Rooibos tea, which I fell in love with when I lived in South Africa. I usually have it plain but my South African friend taught me to steep it with a stick of cinnamon – it gives a wonderful flavour!
Thanks for an amazing giveaway!
I simply adore high teas; I had one for my 21st birthday, complete with scones, cinnamon tea cake, and very wobbly looking macarons. I would squeal if I had the opportunity to go to this Charitea in Melbourne
Dilmah Earl Grey is a no-brainer for me! I would even travel all the way to Sydney for a decent cuppa
My favourite cuppa would be the one someone else makes for me! Something that goes back to a child where dad would wake me every morning with a cup of tea and always in a cup. I do like all tea but I too have recently discovered the licorice one and also chai. How spoiled would I be to be sitting at High Tea.
Sydney please.
Thank you to you and Dilmah.
I love taking my mum to the rocks in Sydney to the little irish tea house and having devenshire tea reminds her of times with her nan and she loves Barrys tea so we buy a few boxes when we leave,I love the tea cosey only if I make one.love to take my mum to the Sydney event that would be grand.
Earl grey is definitely my favourite, served strong with only the tiniest amount of milk … A cloud of milk you could say!
I’d love tickets to sydney to take my mum as the 12th is her birthday!
Good old English Breakfast, steeped for 1.5 minutes, with a splash of vanilla extract and 1 sachet of stevia granules.
Very specific, but very delicious
My afternoon indulgence, which also helps to combat the 3:30pm sugar cravings and NOT add on any calories, is the Dilmah Exceptional range – Rose with French Vanilla Real Leaf Tea – Black and Strong of course!
I would be so grateful for the Melbourne Charitea Experience!
English Breakfast all the way!! The event looks awesome! I envy the winners already.
Dilmah’s Jasmine Green Tea because it tastes best and also very fragrant
I would like ticket to Sydney event please.
My go to tea is always cammomile. Boring I know, but it’s very soothing.
My husband and I discovered the joy of blending teas for ourselves 15 years ago. We’re also huge fans of preparing tea in teapots. Back in the day, my favourite was a mix of Twinings’ Prince of Wales and Princess Mary. We also discovered a tea and coffee wholesaler in Castle Hill where we go a bit crazy twice a year and love that we can purchase our favourite blends in KILO bags. Over the years, however, we’ve developed a ritual that starts with Dilmah, Extra Strength paired with whatever we’re in the mood for. The Dilmah Exceptional series has a number of lovely flavours but the ones we always keep on hand are Berry Sensation and Italian Almond teas. I would love to surprise my husband with an invitation to the high tea in Sydney, Lorraine! Thanks so much for giving your readers the opportunity to attend.
My favourite tea is a chai latte rich and creamy and sweet. I love them. And I’d love to go to the Sydney event.
Hi Lorraine! My favourite tea is rose petal, it’s dainty and girly, perfect for afternoons with the girls! Also a tip; if you get the chocolate tea from one of those tea places you can mix them together to make Turkish delight tea! Delicious and almost calorie free! I’d love to take my sister to the Sydney High Tea day. Thanks! Annette.
We absolutely must start every day with a plain ordinary “cup of Dilmah tea” which we love!
Later in the day a refreshing cup of Green Tea, but my cupboard always has an extra box of “Dilmah – the single origin tea” so we never run out. Would really love the High Tea in Sydney please.
I love catching up with my group of girls over high tea! The miniature cakes always look so cute!
My favourite is Chocolate Chip Chai tea, infused slowly on the stove with soy milk and cinnamon. Best enjoyed on a winter afternoon with Mum, a good book and a cat curled up on your lap!
Since am unable to be in the competition would just like to say I loved your description of our surrounds as having a ‘peachy blush’ at the moment
! A lovely and valid description indeed! And I drink coffee and wine and lots of water, and, boringly perchance, plain green tea!!
I love English Breakfast tea, strong, sweet, with low fat milk and I find that full cream milk spoils the tea flavour. I would love to attend in Melbourne. thanks
Doesn’t that sound like a beautiful afternoon event
I’d love to go to the sydney one! My favourite tea at the moment is one that I make…it’s a chai marsala..(i don’t make the tea itself of course) a little sweet with honey but so spicey and fragrant MMMmmmmmmmMMMmmmm
Although I try many I always go back to Earl Grey, there is always something comforting when I have it! The little treats look Devine! And I’d love to enjoy them in Melbourne.
My fav tea is Earl grey with milk that I like to enjoy with friends or when out accompanied by a sweet treat
Russian caravan without a doubt. No milk and sweetened with black cherries a la Sex and the City. Bliss. I would love to be at the Sydney event.
Last year in Adelaide, I was privileged to attend the Dilmah high tea!
LOVE the company’s caring philosophy!
NOT just about profits, TRUE!
WISH there were more companies and people in this world like Merrill J Fernando and his sons who treat everyone like they are part of the Dilmah family toO!
My fave is ginger and lemon tea. A bit granny-ish, but always works a treat in cold winter night. Sydney event please. Thx xx
sorry, my comment is number 37 and I forgot to say I’d like to attend the SYDNEY event, as I live in Sydney… thank you, Lorraine
I love Monk Pear from t2 or the amazing tea that I bought in Darjeeling directly from the Happy Valley Tea Estate – so much flavour with such little servings, economical (minus flights etc of course) and delicious. I drink tea day and night to get through hours of study or just make a lazy movie night that little bit better! Sydney would be great if the amazing happens and I win!
My favourite tea is Duchess Grey which is a lighter version of Earl Grey. It has a stimulating effect and is especially nice as an afternoon pick-me-up. I would love to attend the Melbourne event.
A white tea with rose petals is absolutely divine.
I am in Sydney.
My favourite tea is English Breakfast…perfect for the English lady in me (somewhere..deep down)! I would do anything to get to the Melbourne high tea~=!
I love LAPSANG Souchong – it’s hard to describe readlly and I have it plain with sometimes a slice of lemon. It has the most amazing I guess, smokey taste that makes me feel exotic.

Choc Chip Uru
Dilmah Moroccan Green Tea. Goes amazingly with fresh mint and a spoon of raw sugar! x
The Sydney high tea sounds amazing! I love and normally drink Jasmine green tea just straight, but English Breakfast with a splash of milk and just a little bit of honey is also a winner. Adding chewy pearls makes it similar to the milk teas you can get at Easyway which makes it all the more fun!
The high tea images are gorgeous. My favourite teas are the fruit teas xx
I’m too tempted by the bewildering variety of teas available these days to select an absolute favorite.
For me, it’s more about going with the ‘that sounds interesting’ choice and very much depends on the who and where of the shared tea experience.
The Langham in Sydney would certainly hit the spot.
I love Orange Pekoe with a dash of milk…mmm! Would love to attend the Sydney event!
Russian Caravan.
A very good friend introduced this to me long ago and far away….
(Sydney would be wonderful, thank you!!)
Earl Grey for its ‘Bergamosity’ of flavour – it has to be a china cup, its my perfect cup of ahh anytime, a mega pick me up!!
I love China’s ‘Dragon Well’ (LongJing) tea for its nutritional value and refreshing/digestive effect especially after a heavy meal. Sydney event please, thank yoU!
My current favourite tea is Lady Grey tea – not as heavy as Earl Grey, and with a fragrant softness that feels like a flowery hug.
i love english breakfast tea but i drink it all day long, that way it’s like the day is always beginning and with fresh possibilities!
I am in Melbourne
Oopsies, Sydney event!
I love earl grey with no sugar or milk – I just savour the taste of the blend. It brings back beautiful memories of someone I love. Love to see you in Sydney

But Im also drinking ginger and lemon…because Im pregnant and so nauseas
Im in Melbourne
I would love to experience a Sydney High Tea. Have never been before and think this would be a beautiful experience to share with someone whom loves their tea too. I love Breakfast tea as it is always refreshing both in the morning and afternoon. It seems to sooth the stress from you and relaxes myself.
My fave tea is what m husband calls a “lissy special”- regular black tea (Dilmah tea leaves) with a modest teaspoon of raw sugar and a dash of milk. Yum!
I’m Melbourne based, thanks for chance to win!
Orange Pekoe for me…Melbourne please!
The tea I cheers with my two yr old son at 5.45 am most mornings. Flavour unimportant…Sydney!!
chai tea with a bit of sugar and milk. Sydney please!
Hi Lorraine,
Also, I would love the chance to meet you (assuming you will be there) as you are such an inspiration!
One of my favourite teas is the Dilmah Strawberry tea, which with a bit of milk tastes just like a strawberry cream sweet, to pep up my workday. As for the high tea – my flatmate and I are on a quest to try every high tea in Sydney (and the rest of the world if we are travelling together) but have not yet tried The Langham so we would love to add this to the list
Rose and Vanilla…the most romantic and soul soothing tea i drink. When i drink this tea i am convinced i am in Paris, sitting closely to the love of my life and enjoying the splendors of the world. Shame i a single and sitting at home on my own. lol.
I would travel to Sydney or Melbourne for the experience
Thank you.

English breakfast, no milk and no sugar!
And Sydney please (:
I absolutely love Afternoon Tea flavour(with milk) morning, noon and night.
I never drink coffee so finding a suitable tea was important.
I would love to attend the Sydney venue. It looks so appetizing.
it would be a toss up between a spicy masala and chai made with a dash of soy and drizzle of honey (my three little girls also love a chai every morning with breakfast) I would love to go to Melbourne.
I love Rose with French Vanilla, but to be honest any cup of tea that is hot and goes with a lovely catch up with a good friend is my favourite!
Sunday afternoon tea time is a treasured ritual for my mum and I.
As we felt life get busier and busier around us, we made a pact two years ago that every Sunday we will share a pot of JASMINE GREEN TEA together and catch up. I would pour the green tea leaves into my mothers favourite purple teapot and set up the tea cups while my mum slices an assortment of cakes. Then we would both sit on the couch and exchange everything that was on our minds from our concerns to funny anecdotes. I would love to take my mum to High Tea in Sydney and make our weekly mother-daughter teatime more special!
A deep malty Assam for me…excellent pick-me-up any time of day.
Sydney, please.
After the kids go to bed everynight my husband makes a pot of caramel tea in a beautiful teapot he gave me as a present
Darjeeling is my favourite, light, fruity and aromatic, it isn’t known as the Champagne of Tea for nothing!

I love chrysanthemum tea served traditionally – it has such a pleasant flavour and reminds me of family gatherings at yum cha restaurants! I would love to go to the Sydney event
I love ginger and lemon tea! I love ginger, so anything zingy captures me.
I also like peppermint tea, as long as it’s sweet.
I would love the Melbourne event – I would take my best friend in the world, who lives there. Or if I couldn’t go, give it to my friends.
Earl grey with a bit of milk and sugar,
or just regular dilmah tea with milk and sugar.
It’s never as good when you use sweetener instead of sugar though.
Sydney Please!!
My favorite has to be the earl grey tea, especially in baked goodies! It is also enjoyable on its own with a dash of milk, particularly during tea time. I would be thrilled if i could go for the sydney high tea.
Sorry Lorraine forgot to put sydney as my preference
What an awesome event and a wonderful giveaway! Love high teas… too bad it’s on a work day!
English Breakfast is my favourite tea even when my young son makes me a cup by ‘opening’ up the teabag and pouring it into the cup…it’s made with love!…Melbourne Mum.
Woo hoo for Spring! I hear it’s been warm in Sydney but we haven’t had much of it here in Melbourne. Good tea drinking weather though! Dilmah extra strength tea (purple) with just a dash of milk.
Darjeeling, black like Queen Victoria minus the palace.
Sydney
Hey Lorraine!
My favourite tea is a bit boring but an all time favourite! It’s Jasmin green tea <3 Strong and straaight from the pot, it keeps me warm in the winter months and in summer I can make it into an iced tea! I'd love to go to the Sydney event!

Dilmah’s Premium Extra Strength Tea with a dash of milk! I would love to go to the charitea event in Melbourne!
My dear mother, who is a tea lover, introduced me to the Dilmah Ceylon Orange Pekoe tea a few years ago and I got hooked ever since. I absolutely love the Dilmah Ceylon Orange Pekoe tea and drink it daily in a variety of ways. In autumn and winter I drink it hot on its own, and also with milk and honey. In summer I make ice tea and granita which the whole family loves. Delicious!
The Dilmah Charitea event at the Langham Hotel Sydney is for a great cause being the Merrill J Fernando Foundation. It would be a privilege attending this prestigious event with my mother as we would treasure every moment of it.
My favourite is strong black tea with condensed milk, evaporated milk and a touch of sugar. Would love the chance to have high tea in Sydney!

My favourite tea is Sottish Breakfast tea. Just like the name and it’s a stronger flavour that only needs to be brewed for under 2 min + being Sottish means I would never choose English breakfast tea!!!!
Oops forgot to say would prefer Sidney
I drink a few different teas from Dilmah, one is the Ceylon Supreme, another is the Green Moroccan Mint and the other is the Jasmine Green.
My favourite daily tea is the Dilmah Ceylon Supreme which is deliciously strong yet not bitter and is smooth easy drinking. Most of the time I drink it straight black and sometimes with a bit of milk.
The Dilmah Green Moroccan Mint and the Dilmah Jasmine Green are my favourite teas for summer where I usually have them as iced tea.
To attend the beautiful Dilmah Charitea event at the Langham Hotel Sydney would be truly special for me.
My favorite tea is Chai. Chai made with lots of crushed green cardamoms and ginger. Very soothing!
Ceylon tea with evaporative milk. Love it!
Chai is my personal favorite. And I love plates on a second picture.
Peter Kuruvita and high tea? That’s awesome!
I like it simple – just a cup of plain organic green tea and always after lunch at work. It really helps with digestion and I’m less likely to reach for the candy bar/potato chip box/Nescafe later in the afternoon
I’m in Melbourne but would not say ‘no’ to Sydney tickets as it’ll give me a legit excuse to go there again soon
Chaomile and Spearmint – nothing relaxes me more in an evening! Sydney would be my location of choice, please
Hi Lorraine,
English Breakfast is my favourite! I like it strong with a tint of milk and NO sugar.
.
A chance to attend the Sydney event would be great
What a great giveaway! Good luck to everyone!
This competition’s posts have given me a very long list of potential favorites. Already spent inordinate time in tea aisle on last shop surveying at least some of them.
Hopeful about Sydney and Peter Kuruvita.
For breakfast I have to have English breakfast. I’m astounded that as a child I used to have 5 teaspoons of sugar in my tea. But now I just have milk. Sydney please.
I love green tea in all it’s forms to sit and sip. In summer I also make it into an iced tea.
green and black tea with lemon healthy and a good cure for the common cold
My favorite kind of tea is one I grew up drinking – Thai tea which is a black tea with beautiful fragrances of orange blossom water, star anise, crushed tamarind mmm
Its great in summer with condensed milk stirred in or hot on its own!
Hi Lorraine. My favourite tea is ginger tea, straight. Would love to go to the sydney one.

Being Asian I drink copious amounts of Chinese tea. Pu erh, jasmine, green tea… But for something special it’s home saucepan brewed loose leaf chai with full cream milk, soy milk, honey & brown sugar. Mmm…Liquid gold
Other than the T2 loose leaf teas, my favourite tea depends on how I’m feeling. In the morning I always have a rosehip or green tea because it makes me feel awake and fresh. At night I like a chamomile especially after a shower before bed (so comforting). When I’m sick it has to be lemon/honey/ginger tea, especially for a sore throat (I also add boiled asian pear as my grandma used to do that for me and it’s supposed to help).
Sydney tickets would be amazing!
I love my green tea, and I like to have it steaming hot!
Sydney please!
Being Asian I drink copious amounts of Chinese tea. Pu erh, jasmine, green tea… But for something special it’s home saucepan brewed loose leaf chai with full cream milk, soy milk, honey & brown sugar. Mmm… Liquid gold. I’d love to go to the sydney event! Good luck to all the lovers.
I love many different tea flavours as the deepness of each one tickles my senses. But I find that when I really crave for tea, I always go back to the good old leafy Japanese green tea (sencha). Green tea is light and refreshing and I find the slight bitterness quite soothing. I like to have it with almond biscuits or a slice of cake while reading a book.
Would love to get tickets to the Melbourne event! Thanks Lorraine!
Melbourne please. I love all teas but, they need to be hot and English Breakfast needs to be very hot. A very dear friend has just added to my tea collection of about 100 cups and saucers my makeing me the most beautiful apron covered in cup cakes that will go so well next time I am serving my friends tea.The sharing of teas in our home is still very traditional.
Back again would REALLY like to go this exclusive event hehe
Anyhow another tea that i like is Green Tea! Full of antioxidants and so good for you
It’s hard to go past a good chai… Frothy milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon, enjoyed whilst my colleagues sip their lattes. (Sydney event please).
I do love the Darjeeling Tea made with the loose leaf in a beautiful fine china pot..add a dash of milk and a cucumber sandwich and enjoy! Sydney Please..
My list of teas in my collection is probably as long at my arm!
But nothing gives me a little ‘pat on the back’ quite like plain old English Breakfast (milk, no sugar please).
I would LOVE to go to the Sydney event please!
my favorite night time indulgence is the zingy flavour of Ginger tea with some Orange Dark chocolate. Heaven ….
(Sydney)
My friend visited Sri Lanka and the Dilmah tea fields there. On return she gave me a packet of Dilmah Caramel Tea bags amazing….i use sparingly as i have not seen them in Australian supermarkets but always the best way to bring a smile and comfort after a tough day!!!
Hi Lorraine,
My favourite tea is ginger tea – I take it straight up. Would love to go to the Sydney High Tea.
Cheers,
Lily
Dilmah’s Premium Extra Strength Tea with a dash of milk! I would love to go to the high tea in Melbourne with my hubby as its our anniversary that day
Dilmah Extra Strong is the first tea of the day for me and then throughout the day I drink green tea of different varieties. I would like to attend the Sydney Event.
I absolutely adore this tea called Sencha Peach. My friend overseas asked if I could buy her some to send over, so when I did, I bought a pack for myself (purely for research purposes, of course!). I’m so glad I did, because it’s light, fragrant, the fruitiness is not overpowering at all, and you don’t feel like you need to add sugar to it (like most other fruit iced teas).
I’d love to sample Dilmah’s teas at the Sydney high tea please.
xoxo
My favourite is chai-I love the fragrant and spicy aromas that fill my nostrils before I take my first sweet sips and I’m in an exotic heaven. I love it with a slice of moist banana bread, AND I would absolutely, positively love to attend the Sydney event, thank you…
My favourite tea is Marco Polo by Mariage Freres. It is a fruity flavoured black tea which i prefer black no sugar. I bought it in Paris at my first visit to a mariage freres shop, standing in wonderment in front of their wall of tea and trying to choose, my nose assailed by a heady fragrance of tea, and whenever I drink it, I am filled with fond memories of going to the store. I would love to go to the Sydney event!
Chilli Chai Tea from a little coffee shop in Katoomba!!
Please please please the Sydney one!
From Denise
Russian Caravan. Like my men, I have it hot and strong!
(Melbourne please).
I my favourite tea for a special occasions is the Flowering Jasmine Peach tea and the way I love to have it has to be served in a glass teapot. The beautiful flower with the leaves tied around it is so pretty to look at and the taste is very delicate. It’s so pretty it makes having the tea a real event in itself.
I would love to attend the Melbourne event, thank you.
Every Sunday night, sitting at my mother’s table, after a family dinner, while the kids are washing up, we all drink Liptons Quality Black Tea, made in mum’s biggest teapot. Sydney please.
My favourite tea is rooibos – thanks for the lovely photos. I am hosting a tea on Sept 30th in my garden to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. You have given me a few ideas. I wont enter the draw as I am too far away.
I love rooibos tea with honey. It’s caffeine free which is important for me and is also full of antioxidants..oh plus it tastes great! Sydney Please:)
Have a new favorite tea as of a couple of weeks ago- it’s Australian Afternoon Tea. The beauty is you can drink it all day, not just in the morning. I drink it with just a dash of milk and half a teaspoon of sugar. Melbourne please. Thank you.
Lately my favourite type of tea is Chai, made with regular cow’s milk and a bit of honey on the side. Although, my all time favourite would have to be English Breakfast with a splash of milk, it’s always so refreshing. Melbourne event please!
A cup of Japanese Genmaicha (Japanese brown rice tea) with the delicious smell of roasted brown rice is the most comforting way to relax!
(Sydney)
Like a good friend, its never left to brew so long that it becomes bitter, its sweetened with conversation, its enjoyed whether black or white, and it warms your soul.
Rooibos, rose buds, rose hips, hibiscus and just a touch, not too much, lavender blossoms. My partner thinks I drink potpourri, but late at night, when I’m feeling cold and just need to warm up and then go to sleep, this is relaxing, soothing and good for me.
Sydney would be LOVERLY, thanks Lorraine!!
I also love Russian Caravan; again, white, no sugar. Love it in the afternoon…perfect with the Sydney High Tea : )
Rooibos – the south african caffeine free tea, as hot as I can get it, with just a splash of milk. Preferably drunk in a peaceful setting, however I’ll settle for children not actively brawling while I sip.
Oops I forgot… Melbourne please!
Peppermint tea is great! Melbourne is my destination!
Have said it before, tea is about the experience – who you’re with, where, the reason for getting together – and when you don’t reconize the crockery heritage by sight, being able to turn it over to take a peak!
As usual, Lorraine, love the images as well as plated tasty morsels.
Hopeful about Sydney.
hi NQN i missed out last yr and would love to go this year! it looks fabulous! my favourite tea(s) would be chai and early grey! sydney event pls!
my favourite would be a lychee tea i tasted back in taipei tea salon, beautifully fragrant and not overly sweet! sydney event pls!
the tea fiend in me is struggling to pick one, but i love a strong lemongrass and honey! i would love to attend the sydney event!
i had a really nice T2 good sleep blend the other day, it was very calm and soothing.
sydney event would be an eye opening event!
thx NQN!
honey and lemon is the way to go! sydney event preferred!
i love a nice green tea to start the day! cheers SNW!
Definately chamomile tea after a hot bath dressed in my favourite Peter Alexander’s PJs. Loves the applelike taste and flavour. Loves it even more now that I’m pregnant as it relaxes me and help me get to sleep.
Sydney ticket would be amazing please.
Hi Lorraine! My favourite tea is green tea, just straight, but I do not leave the tea bag in for long. Would love to go to the Sydney event. Thank you so much.
I love a double strength Earl Grey with full cream milk. It is the only thing that gets me moving in the morning. -Melbourne
Back again! Another tea that I like is Earl Grey ~ especially when it is fused into desserts hehe
Thanks again Lorraine for the opportunity to win!
Oolong!! steeped in slighty under boiling temperature water and sipped out of a fine rimmed tea cup – delicious and I could drink it all day!
I’d love to attend the Sydney tea
Dilmah’s Premium Extra Strength Tea with a dash of milk! I would love to go to the high tea in Melbourne with my hubby as its our anniversary that day!
Berry Sensation is my favorite flavour, because not only can it be drunk hot, but also cold with mineral water or lemonade added. I also use it to soak the mixed fruit/berries in, for my Berry Fruit Tea Cake. There’s nothing like a multi purpose tea.
Would love to attend Sydney High Tea.
Camomile is good for calming down after a busy day!
Melbourne please!
Mmmm I love a camomile tea just before bed, so soothing for the soul! I would LOVE to go to the Sydney one
When I’m at work, it’s two cups of mint green tea for me. So refreshing! Sydney please.
Hi Lorraine! My favourite type of tea is actually “soba-cha” (buckwheat tea), I like to let it brew for a while so that I can get all the flavour
I would love to go to the Sydney event!
I love love love a cup of chai. It’s just very exotic: the smell and the spice. mmm.. How I have it? I usually have it with my boyfriend. hehe.. Believe it or not it’s our ‘couple drink’. When we were just friends, we tried as many chai tea as Sydneys cafe can offer. It was the cup of chai that brought us closer together.
Sydney High Tea, please..
Lotsa thanks!
I prefer camomile in a pretty pot that makes me feel like i’m indulging in a bit of luxury.
Sydney please!
My favourite tea is Dragon Well tea, which comes from delicately hand picked tea leaf tips in Hang Zhou, China. This green tea has a sweet, subtle flavour and the best bit is that you can actually eat the tea leaves after they have been infused! (Sydney please
An afternoon treat for me is English Toffee with Peppermint tea, in a lovely cup with a good quality peanut brittle. Absolutely decadent !!!
Dear Lorraine – what a divine competition! I LOVE drinking tea…especially in the afternoon with my lovely friend Rhonda. We have a little weekly ritual, and bring out the special
xx
fine bone china tea-cups. We love Moroccan Mint…it transports us to faraway exotic places…. (but for now we live in Sydney
PS I just saw your Dilmah High Tea video. Congratulations!!! It’s superb! What a treat to have High Tea with none other than the delightful June Daly Watkins! xx
Back again hehe
i also like oolong tea ~ have you had sencha before? it reminds me of fried rice hehe
I always relax with a cup of good old English Breakfast tea. Black, no sugar. Sometimes I’ll even drink a whole pot of tea on my own!
Melbourne event please.
My favourite tea is green tea, just straight, but I do not leave the tea bag in for long. Would love to go to the Sydney event. Thank you so much.
I cannot get enough Chai, morning, noon n night! Would love to attend the Sydney event, I think it’d be quite alright
Lorraine, I am a tea drinker from way back and I cannot start the day without my morning cuppa. Traditionally I drink an English or Irish Breakfast tea with milk, but lately I have realised I am lactose intolerant and have found that I enjoy my tea black with a teaspoon of agave. Surprisingly most enjoyable.
I would love to attend the Sydney event thank you.
My preferred ‘shade of grey’ is Earl Grey. My choice is for it to be strong, hot and steamy (just like the book!)
(Melbourne, please)
Jasmine tea, particularly after my baby Jasmine was born
Melbourne please!
While the origins of most variety names mentioned are obvious enough, just love the mystery and romance of Russian Caravan – as well as the taste and the commentary when it’s been favourited in this competition posts.
Still hopeful about Sydney.
First of all, I’m a guy (probably the only guy who enters this competition). I love earl grey the most. Its best to have it hot in the morning with 2 1/2 tbs of milk and 2tsp sugar (yes, engineer job made me a very precise guy).
And, Sydney please. Thank you!
I can’t go past English Breakfast. It’s my ultimate comfort. Just the smell of a good brew puts me at ease. But no bags please. Only leaves will do. I’d love to be lucky enough to win tickets to the Sydney event. Thanks.
My sister-in-law makes the best cup of Lady Grey tea. No milk required. Sydney please.
My favourite tea is ginger tea, just straight, would love to go to the Sydney event. Cheers Lorraine!
The SMH and SunHerald have very helpfully run ads about the Langham and its Tea Room this week.
At least I’ll know where I’m looking for, when drinking a beautiful tea in Sydney.
Should have also mentioned that I’m watching Peter Kuruvita, fishing in Sydney Harbour on SBS.
Hope that’s a omen for the Sydney event.
Melbourne please –
Orange Pekoe tea, as the clean, rich strong flavour is the perfect accompaniment for delectable high tea offerings
My fave is Earl gray, and it is best served with tiny bit of a sugar (less than 1/2 teaspoon), after a hot shower or bubble bath preferably. Perfect for night snuggle before bed!
Would love to attend the Sydney event please. Thanks!
I love tea! Tea for two? Tea for one? Tea for me!! My favourite is English Breakfast, but the list could just go on and on!! I drink tea all day long! When I’ve done a hard day landscaping, and have showered and put on the PJs, THAT is my time for bedsocks and tea! Wonderful! Dilmah is my favourite brand – and not just because of the flavour, but also because of the ethics of the company. Thank you Mr Dilmah! (Oh, if I were to win…Sydney please? Thank you!).
Darjeeling tea is my favourite. I add a bit of cardamom to it and milk. Not only does it roll beautifully off the rogue when you pronounce its name, but it leaves a beautiful aroma in your mouth when you drink it. (Melbourne please)
I make a very tasty Chai tea with added tumeric (Yellow tea to my kids).
For this tea I feel like lactose free milk works best.(even though I am not intolerant to milk). Its not heavy on the stomach and has a slightly sweeter taste to ordinary milk. I personally don’t like sweet tea so I add a little manuka for medicinal purposes.
My kids love this and ask for it when they aren’t feeling so well. My husband also has this when he is feeling under the weather but insists on adding a shot of scotch to it (an old Italian friend recommended this to him).
I would like to go to the Sydney event if I win. Cheers
My favourite is chai tea, done the old fashioned way… using a dilmah premium quality black tea, a couple of cloves and a cinnamon stick. So soothing! (Sydney event)
as per my name, earl grey with milk! tada! sydney pls!
i love a nice green tea to go with any meal!i would love to attend the sydney event!
i love a nice mint tea to wind down after a long day at work. i would love to go to the sydney event as i missed out last year.
English Breakfast tea – semi-strong with a dash of milk. Brewing technique is important, I like to brew the leaves in a teapot for ~ 3 minutes, rotating the teapot ~ once every minute, alternating between clockwise and anti-clockwise turns. Sydney event please. Monique
i had a very nice cherry blossom tea back in japan, lightly scented. it was fabulous! sydney event would be great!
honey and ginger ( homemade) is my favourite. perfect for cold days at home. sydney event preferred. thx NQN
How did I not see this competition??
I am coincidentally in Sydney on the 12th of September, so that would be absolutely perfect!! (And it’s my birthday 16 days afterwards… does that work in my favour?
)
I have so many favourite teas, and I tend to go through phases. At the moment, I’m drinking Irish Breakfast during the day – it has a lovely aroma and flavour that works perfectly for me. After dinner, I either have Rose and Vanilla tea by Dilmah (so beautiful and delicious!!) or Chai with Vanilla. However, nothing nothing NOTHING will ever beat a well-brewed pot of Earl Grey tea with milk.
i have too many to pick from… today i feel like a lavander grey, yep mix the 2 bags for a strong fragrant cuppa!
i would love to attend the sydney event!
Love a pot of hot earl grey on its own. Would love to attend the Sydney event. Thanks
My favorite tea is a flat white coffee! But I am sure that a High Tea in Melbourne would change that….
I have a tea obsession and held my first mini high tea for my Grandmother and Mum for Mother’s day this year- it worked out so well and I was very proud of myself but I have never attended a real high tea before and would love to more than anything.
My friend Ali won the high tea challenge (I teach her little girl dancing) and I followed her journey, it was truely beautiful and I am very proud of her.
My favourite tea is Earl Grey and my favourite way to have tea is in a tea pot (from my growing collection) very strong with a dash of milk and one sugar.
If I was fortunate enough to be chosen I would be grateful for either Sydney or Melbourne.
Thank you for the opportunity
Melbourne please!!
My favourite tea is a nice ginger and lemon tea – plain and simple, but oh so good!! Really good for helping out with morning sickness/nausea too!!
I was born in Java Island where plenty of black tea around. The Javanese people love their tea black and sweet with no milk. We called it thick sweet black tea (thick for its full of flavour of black tea leaves). I enjoyed it most when sitting inside my home while raining with that black sweet tea and accompanied with some deep fried snacks or traditional snack with coconut milk choices such as deep fried cassava or deep fried sweet white potato, deep fried banana fritter or with black glutinous rice with coconut milk on top or something like this.
After all, when it is raining, shouldn’t you stop working and enjoying the tea whilst listening to rain and watching rain go by before starting to work again? Not sure why but it give me lots of energy afterward and the rain also give a great smell, smell of wet earth or tropical rainforest.
and Sydney is my preference (almost forgot to mention this
Hands down – Earl Grey tea with a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar.
Oh, and Melbourne please!
My morning heart-starter is Ceylon Orange Pekoe, always made old-school with leaf tea in my glass teapot. White with two, I drink it with my four year old girl, and pretty soon my one year old will be wanting one too.
Oh and I would love to go to the Sydney event.
My favorite is lemongrass tea. Its so fragrance. I love having them hot with lemington or scones or both
I would like to go to Sydney one please.
My favourite tea is chamomile. I love it because I grow the plants myself and infuse it in a glass tea pot. I like to have it with a hint of lemon that I also grow in my garden. The best tea is the one you make yourself.
My favorite tea is Lady grey tea. When I’m studying, and going through 6 cups a day, I have it just with milk but on other days I love it with this amazingly floral, organic honey and milk. I always think about that Nigella Lawson ad for lady grey tea, it makes me feel just a little fancy
I would love to go to the Sydney event!!
I love Green Tea, it tastes so good and it’s also good for me! I would love to go to the Melbourne event.
My favourite tea is Dilmah Ceylon Supreme Tea and I drink it black, with no sugar or milk, in order to really enjoy the flavours of the tea.
I’d love to go to either the Melbourne or Sydney events, but Sydney is closest.
My favourite tea is Earl Grey, with lemon (either a piece floating on top, or a squeeze).
Earl Grey, with a slice of lemon. I’d love to go to the one Sydney!
i love classic english breakfast nice and strong in a china cup – typically british! x
I like Earl Grey with a bit of sugar & a touch of milk. Nice & hot…mmm, divine!
I’d dearly love to go to the Melbourne event please. Thank you for such an awesome give away!
The most beautiful, heart warming cup of tea I’ve ever had was handed to me by a gorgeous young boy living in an orphanage in Dhulikhel, Nepal just a few months ago.The tea was made with rosemary from their herb garden. The rosemary leaves are boiled with the water and some honey and bucketloads of love.It is absolutely delicious and very refreshing. Each year our team of volunteer doctors and nurses travel to Nepal to operate on burn victims suffering dreadful contractures and we also have the great priviledge of visiting the children at this orphanage. I would love to take one of my dedicated team members with me to the Sydney event. Thanks Lorraine.
Oooh nearly forgot to enter!!!!
My favourite tea is good old English Breakfast. One sugar with a dash of milk. Served with a humble scone with some jam and cream. Perfect anytime of day!
Whilst I drink English Breakfast everyday, my favourite tea for a treat is Chai – brewed in milk and sweetened ever so slightly with honey. Delicious! I would love to go to the Sydney event.
I love peppermint tea. Just plain. Wouldn’t want to spoil it by adding anything else!
(I would love to go to the Melbourne event if I am lucky enough to win)
Oh gosh this is such a hard question… I love all teas but if I had to narrow it down id have to say lavender grey …oh hold on can I take that back…. maybe honeydew green tea …mmmm can I say both?? whatever type I love it served hot in my tea for one pot cup and saucer whilst rugged up reading a good book.. If i was chosen to win Sydney would be great.. thanks
P.s love your posts
It’s so exciting competition ending at 5pm! i really hope i get it
i’ve had a strange week so it’ll be nice to go to a high tea event and just enjoy myself hehe
Thanks Lorraine for the opportunity to win!
I would love to attend the Sydney high tea. I have never before been to a high tea but I am sure one of my girlfriends would love to join me for this one. My favourite tea is Lady Grey with the citrus flavour – the one advertised by the gorgeous Nigella Lawson.
I have to say I’m a little bit nanna! I love a posh Earl Grey with a biscuit dipped in. Oh did I say that? Oh, Im going to wear my nanna tendancies proud!!! Would love to go to Sydney
Yay, double the chance to win
Lately, Chai has come into vogue and has become quite trendy to order but nothing can beat my first ever taste of Chai in a little throw-away pottery cup. It was my first time in India and I was travelling with my Greek friend Elva ( who had never travelled before and was thrown in the deep-end as far as culture shock goes). 5am standing on a platform at Delhi train station in February and it was freezing cold! Wearing light clothing and sandals didn’t help but we were in India , right, how very naive of us! Then the Chai Wallah shouted “Chai, Chai” above the din and I bought us two cups , it was the very best cup of Chai that I have ever tasted.
Hi Lorraine. My favourite tea is ginger, and sometimes green. I like to have them both straight. Have never been to an event like this and would love to go to the sydney one.
Cheers
Lily
Competition posts are full of cherished memories of where and with whom we’ve drunk tea we favored.
With Fathers’ Day nearly upon us, I’m thinking about how, decades ago, my Dad introduced our kids to ordinary Bushells tea, delivered, suitably cooled down, on a tea spoon. Sharing and caring.
Still hopeful about Sydney with the increase in passes available!
Earl Grey – with the sunday newspaper on the balcony, being undisturbed for a minimum of an hour
I love a fragrant and comforting Masala Chai tea with a dash of maple syrup and rice milk.
I love a calming Camomile to help soothe my frazzled nerves and completely relax me
A delicious warm cup of red rose for me, the floral essences swim in a milky pool of tea.
Add a blob or two of honey,
It will make you feel quite funny,
As melt in your mouth as can be.
(Sydney please <3)
Sydney please!
oops, forgot to add Melbourne for me please!
I love chai. I love it with soy milk for that extra smoothness and a touch of honey.
Melbourne.
Chai is my favourite. I always ask cafes if its loose leaves or powdered, the latter will be too sweet.
It has to be well steeped in hot milk, i like it spicy. Hard to find a cafe that makes it well.
On the theme of early experiences with tea drinking, remembering back to my favorite Snow White play tea set where the milk jug and sugar bowl with at least two of her dwarf friends pictures featured strongly.
If the competition’s still open, remain hopeful about The Langham in Sydney.
My favourite is still English breakfast.Nothing like a cup first thing in the morning.(Sydney)
I love Dilmah Extra Strength. It reminds me of the brewed tea of yesteryear, which was full of flavour.

Can we still enter?
Already on the track of teas recommended in competition posts, yesterday it was Ginger and lemon grass, this morning peppermint – each served in a butterfly emblazoned cup.
Remaining hopeful about Sydney.
