To Market To Market, June 2011

Hello Dearest Readers! I know I know, it’s been too long between To Market To Markets but if you knew how much work was involved in doing these you’d hopefully understand why ;) To Market To Market is the quarterly column where I talk about the best of the items that I am sent (only the stuff that I like makes it here so call me your unofficial taste tester) and thanks to these brands, you get the chance to try them too instead of wondering what they taste like.

Just leave a comment at the end of the story telling me which product you’d like to try and why. The giveaway ends at Midnight AEST on the 12th of June, 2011. And one important thing, I will announce the winners on the 13th of June on this story and post the winner’s names. Now the difference is that it is up to you to contact me (the reason why these have been such headaches is chasing people’s details). So come back on the 13th and look for your name and who knows, you may have won something delicious!

Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef

Now if this prize doesn’t make you the most popular gal in town I don’t know what will. You won’t be complaining of a man shortage once word gets around that you have not only $300 worth of grass fed wagyu steaks but also a six pack of Carlton Draught beer! Now just to explain this clever concept, twenty prized wagyu cows were reared by Jaq Wagyu on two tonnes of hops and ten tonnes of malted barley which is what is used to brew Carlton Draught. The resulting wagyu is tender with a distinct flavour profile-and it does taste different from regular wagyu I promise! We barbecued it up and it was a big hit with the family and in laws with one member eating two entire steaks by himself.

Thanks to  Carlton Draught,  one lucky Not Quite Nigella reader will receive a tray of Jaq Wagyu beef fed on Carlton Draught and a six pack of Carlton Draught both worth $300! As it needs refrigeration, delivery can only be made to Sydney Metropolitan areas.

Helga’s

“Did you tell them that we already have their bread here?” Mr NQN asked me when a loaf of Helga’s new quinoa and flaxseed bread was sent to us. It’s true, we had two loaves already going but of course I had to try a slice of this quinoa bread which is low GI with quinoa that very popular grain that is high in protein as well as flaxseed. The bread was spongey and soft and with just the right amount of bits in it.

Thanks to  Helga’s,  ten lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a box containing three loaves of the quinoa and flaxseed bread. As it is bread, delivery can only be made to Sydney Metropolitan areas.

Tasmanian Rain

I was lucky enough to visit Tasmania for the first time this year and everyone asked me where was good to eat. The answer was simple: everywhere! The reason is that the Tasmanian produce itself really is wonderful and when you start with wonderful food, then it is hard to mess it up. Tasmanian rain is a new product that is simply just pure Tasmanian rainwater collected from the skies of North West Tamania before it hits the ground. Interestingly it is captured adjacent to the Tarkine wilderness which is where the Australian government collects “pure” air sample for calibration purposes. It is bottled in glass bottles and it tastes wonderfully pure and comes in still and sparkling.

Thanks to  Tasmanian Rain,  ten lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a bottle of still and a bottle of sparkling Tasmanian Rain Water!

Sami’s Kitchen Spices

Well you know I love family businesses and I love food that is just as good as what you’d make at home, if you had the time or the skill. That means things like fillers, additives and preservatives aren’t used and all you get is the best that you would feed yourself, family and friends. Sami’s Kitchen is a family owned business and they have spice mixes in resealable sachets in flavours such as Felafel (just add to chick peas to make quick felafel balls); Za’atar (mix with yogurt for a dressing or use as a marinade); Shish Tawook (sprinkle onto fish before grilling or baking) and Shawarma (add to beef mince for burger patties).

Thanks to  Sami’s Kitchen,  ten lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive two spice packets of their choice (please specify which ones you would like to try).

Manolete Chorizo

Well you’d have to think that chorizo was the new national sausage so often does it creep up on restaurant and cafe menus. And to be frank I’m quite happy with that situation! But you know how people always talk about good chorizo versus bad chorizo, well let me point you towards a good chorizo. Manolete is made in Spain in the mountain region of Asturias and is made from Spanish reared pigs and locally sourced spices. It is the only 100% Spanish chorizo available in Australia. It is cured for five weeks and then prepared in a confit of olive oil.

Thanks to  Manolete,  six lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive some Manolete chorizo sausages! As it is a refrigerated product, delivery can only be made to Sydney Metropolitan areas.

Philadelphia

Now whilst I’d love to send you some cream for cooking I realise that it’s a bit troublesome to send out so in its place I am giving away some copies of the Philadephia Philly Simply Heaven cookbook. There are recipes for all sorts of delicious cheesecakes as well as savoury items and the recipes are all very simple so great for weeknight dinners.

Thanks to  Philadelphia,  five lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a copy of Philly Simply Heaven Volume 1!

Be Natural

Oatmeal is definitely winter breakfast food and now that we’ve officially hit Winter I have been making porridge for myself and Mr NQN every Saturday (Sunday is usually something much less healthy ;) ). Be Natural has a vanilla and almond porridge that comes in sachets for innate portion control (although Mr NQN has been known to eat three sachets’ worth at a go so we ran out rather quickly!). So we then switched to the pink lady apple and flame raisin cereal which was crunchy and full of good bits. And the’re free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives too.

Thanks to  Be Natural,  five lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a pack containing one of one box of the vanilla and almond porridge and one Pink Lady Apple and Flame Raisin cereal!

Sonoma

I know it’s hard in a city like Sydney or a country like Australia to name your favourite bakery as there are so many but Sonoma has always been one of my favourites. Their sourdough is crusty but not so crusty that it rips the roof of your mouth and the inside is dense and spongey-perfect for soaking up precious butter ;) And don’t get me started on the rest of the breads…

Thanks to  Sonoma,  five lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a fresh loaf delivered to them in a Sonoma tote bag. As it is bread, delivery can only be made to Sydney Metropolitan areas.

Continental Stock Pot

It’s soup and risotto time and you know what the base for soup is right? Stock! Now British chef Marco Pierre White has loaned his considerable name tothis product and I was lucky enough to meet him and have him demonstrate this in a masterclass by making a soup and a risotto. He prefers this small little jellied stock to salt as it allows him to control seasoning better. The best part for me though is not having to chop onions for a risotto (a task I loathe). Yep that dreaded job is no more if you use this!

Thanks to  Continental,  three lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a pack containing one of each of the stocks (chicken, beef and vegetable)!

Smirnoff & Gordon’s

I remember how popular the Smirnoff packs were in a previous To Market To Market. These packs of ready made mixes are great for entertaining and there are two new flavours to join the party. Gordon’s Gin and Ocean Spray Ruby Red Grapefruit and Smirnoff No. 21 and Cloudy Apple! Call these your portable bartenders in a box. Put them in the fridge and dispense for a happy party.

Thanks to  Smirnoff and Gordon’s,  two lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive a pack containing one of each of the Gordon’s Gin and Ocean Spray Ruby Red Grapefruit and Smirnoff No. 21 and Cloudy Apple! Winners need to be over 18 years of age and will need to show proof of age.

Vinyl Design

I have a bit of a tea towel fetish-yes it’s true. I have a drawer full of them. You see not only can they be pretty but they’re practical too! The Vinyl Designs  cotton linen teatowels have cute silhouette motifs and are a new line in addition to the wall coverings.

Thanks to  Vinyl Design,  one lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will receive the tea for two teatowel!

So Dear Readers, leave a comment as to which item you’d like to try and why and you could be receiving it in the mail! And don’t forget to check back on the 13th of June when I put up the winner’s details. Thanks again to these generous brands: Carlton Draught, Helga’s, Tasmanian Rain, Sami’s Kitchen, Manolete, Philadelphia, Sonoma, Be Natural, Continental, Smirnoff & Gordon’s and Vinyl Design for providing the fantastic prizes!

I’m not sure if this is open only to Australian residents… but I thought I’d give it a shot :) I’d like to try the Be Natural Oatmeal… because if you see my blog… I have an oatmeal fetish going on right now. The Simply Heaven recipebook also sounds lovely because I have a collection of recipebooks and that one would fit right in! Finally… the tea towels because they are just TOO CUTE! Am I allowed to write more than one item? GAH… crossing fingers!

  • 2. lindaf | June 4th, 2011 at 6:33 am | #

I will say, that the amount of chorizo sausage out there gets a bit confusing, which one to buy???? so I would love to taste this one, especially as it has Lorraine’s seal of approval ! :)

  • 3. Mrs. L | June 4th, 2011 at 6:53 am | #

Bummed that I’m all the way in the states and can’t partake in this, but I can drool and dream anyway!

    Hi there Ms NQN

They all look sloop good and you describe them beautifully, you do have a way with words.

Personally I will probably try then all, but the one I would like to win the most is the Continental Stockpot. Reason being I have recently had my grandson,Aiden come to live with me and he just loves my soup and stews.

He is only 2 and these would make great meals for him to take to kindy for lunch.

I am Oatmeal obsessed. In fact, it happens to be my favourite food and I have an Oatmeal breakfast bake in the oven right now.

Instant oatmeal is perfect recipes and even for using in recipes so I’d love to try Be Naturals version!

The apple and flame raisin cereal sounds delicious too! I loveee crunchy cereals.

I’d like to win the Manolete Chorizo because…well…I love Chorizo, but I’ve neber really tasted it have I? I’ve never been to Spain so have only tasted locally produced stuff.

Actually, upon reading this article, I popped Manolete into google to try and find a retailer where I could buy the stuff, but I could not find one in Sydney. I’m not going to take my chances on NOT winning this, I need to go out and buy some. Can you tell me where?

  • 10. Virginia | June 4th, 2011 at 8:06 am | #

Definitely the steaks. My man would love them and we’re on a budget since he moved and I could not justify buying something so luxurious until the end of the year. To win them from you Lorraine would be fantastic.

  • 14. Not Quite Nigella | June 4th, 2011 at 9:01 am | #

Hi Kristy-Manolete chorizo can be found at Quattro Formaggi. Harris Farm (Manly, Rhodes, Broadway, N Strathfield), Bossley Park Deli and Nonna’s Gourmet sausages in Brookvale :)

  • 15. Cindy | June 4th, 2011 at 9:01 am | #

My hubby and I last had Wagyu the night before we worked out our wedding budget, and I’m sure if we had crunched the numbers first, we wouldn’t have indulged then! That was almost 5 years ago, and with 2 little ones (and another on the way) we’re more in sausage and mince territory now! ;)
Hubby would just LOVE to throw some Wagyu on the barbie with a Carlton Draught in hand!
Also a HUGE fan a Sonoma bread – it’s one indulgence we occasionally partake in. The sourdough is divine!

  • 16. Liz | June 4th, 2011 at 9:09 am | #

I see your tea towel fetish and raise you! I too have several drawers full of gorgeous T-towels and would love to add the tea for two teatowel to my collection. Love Liz xx

  • 17. InTolerantChef | June 4th, 2011 at 9:11 am | #

Some great items today! Hmmmm… decisions, decisions…. after much deliberation, I think that the tea towel is the cutest, and would use it as a tray cloth to show it off!

  • 18. Melly | June 4th, 2011 at 9:15 am | #

Sourdough! Sourdough! To say that I love bread would be an understatement, so I would giggle with glee on receiving a lovely crusty fresh round cob of sourdough from Sonoma!

  • 19. Mal Streeter | June 4th, 2011 at 9:19 am | #

Would just love to enter my daughter and her family in the comp. For some wagyu beef and beer. They lived in the states as students and could only afford lentils and veg. What a treat this would be for them.

  • 20. Mal Streeter | June 4th, 2011 at 9:20 am | #

Have been known to eat oatmeal every day of the year……just love it and so good for you.

  • 21. Chau | June 4th, 2011 at 9:21 am | #

hopefully i wont sound like an alcoholic here but i would like the smirnoff to try. I dont really drink actually but on a cold winters night, a little bit of alcohol warms me up tremendously! Also it would be useful for posr uni exam celebrations :P

  • 22. michelle | June 4th, 2011 at 9:22 am | #

Hi Lorraine I would love to try the manolete chorizo – having just given birth to our first child all of my favourite savory treats were on the do no eat list while being pregnant – cured meats, soft cheeses….so now it’s time to treat myself & make up for the last 10 months of abstaining x
ps would also make me very popular with my husband since he loves chorizo sausages too

  • 23. Chris | June 4th, 2011 at 9:28 am | #

I’d be in heaven if I won the Philly Simply Heaven Volume 1. I love cookbooks and have several packets of philly cream cheese in my fridge right now waiting to be turned into creamy cheesecake! I’d love other ideas for my philly cream cheese – yum!

  • 24. Christine | June 4th, 2011 at 9:28 am | #

I’d love to try the Be Natural porridge and cereal!
I’ve got gestational diabetes and breakfast for the last few months has been a small serve of sugar free yoghurt EVERY DAMN MORNING as any toast/cereal spikes my blood sugar like crazy!
Once my baby’s born in a few weeks I’ll be able to eat normal again and I’ve been looking forward to having porridge again (my usual winter brekky).
Be Natural also make my favourite muesli bars so I know they make great products.

  • 25. ann | June 4th, 2011 at 9:29 am | #

    Hi, Lorraine,
I would love the porridge pack, or the beef, or the booze. I know they will definitely get used whereas other things, as nice as they look, will just sit in my pantry forever… Thanks for the chance to win some lovely tasty things! Who doesn’t like a freebie? It’s actually my birthday on the 19th, so soon after the giveaway, would be great to get a tasty birthday gift…

    Hi Lorraine,

I would love to try the Sami’s Kitchen goodies. My family all live overseas and i dearly miss home cooked meals! If my family can’t cook for me – perhaps Sami’s family would be a good replacement! I’d love to give the felafel and shawarma mixes a go.

    Have a lovely weekend!

  • 27. Rozzie Kaye | June 4th, 2011 at 9:33 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,

The one thing I would love is the Wagyu Beef and Beer. My husband loves to cook on the BBQ and this would be the perfect one for him (bonus for me as I get the night off from cooking) and the beer would be a big treat for him as well! I usually always pick what I would want this time I am being a sharing, caring wife and picking for him.
Thanks Lorraine appreciate your hard work!

Great post! It all looks fabulous, and since I’m not anywhere near Sydney my preference would be the Smirnoff & Gordons … I adore apple, this would be great for winding down on a friday evening after a busy week at work :)

I’ve never had wagyu but would love to try it – maybe you could be the one to convert me to a wagyu addict :)

  • 31. lucinda | June 4th, 2011 at 9:43 am | #

Oh Lorraine, what a treat to warm the pit of my stomach on a cold winter’s morning to consider these beautiful products promoted by you. I have to admit that I am an avid fan of gin and vodka (separately mind you!). I would usually drink them in the more traditional way – a gin and tonic being the fave! I would love to break my old traditionalist ways and try some new combinations, if I should be so lucky ( in the words of a famous Australian!!!)

  • 32. Elizabeth | June 4th, 2011 at 9:44 am | #

I never win anything, would love the steaks, but would settle for Sami’s Kitchen.
Everything sounds wonderful as I love cooking and preparing lovely different food for my family.

  • 33. Howard | June 4th, 2011 at 9:46 am | #

I’d love to try the JAQ WAGYU BEEF ! Tastes better than the already mouth watering normal Wagyu? Now that must be worth it!

  • 34. Annie | June 4th, 2011 at 9:51 am | #

    Hi Mrs NQN,

I live in rural NSW and have to dash to the Spanish deli when I’m in Sydney to satisfy my longing for chorizo sausages. So, I’d definitely enjoy the Manolete chorizo. I make a yummy chorizo, potato and pork chop stew, oh I can just taste it now.

    Have a great weekend

No question that I’d like the Carlton Draughts steaks. My Tim loves beer and steaks, so I would be very popular if I produced these.

    hello lorraine
I was fascinated by your interview with Marco White. The old photographs of Marco White showed a handsome and confident young man, (maybe even arrogant), with the world as his oyster. The now, Marco White, with bags under his eyes and talking about eating real food cooked by real people, is a total contrast. Is it just a marketing ploy by Continental – this talk of eating real food – presumably implying continental stock gel for real people interested in real cooking? I was also horrified by the suggestion when someone remarked that “isnt it horrible that (Marco White) is now advertising for continental?”. So which is which? Is continental stock gel really good that real cook should try or just an endorsement of a poor product by a “Once-Famous” Chef. I’ll like to try it out for myself. So, please, could I have the continental soup gel to try?

  • 38. EHA | June 4th, 2011 at 10:03 am | #

Well, there’s the good and the bad! :D ! The good: going to my mailbox to find I’m on a facinating shopping trip! The bad: am just a few clicks outside the Metropolitan area – Boo-hoo :( ! Love some of these items already, especially the beautiful Helga’s quinoa bread! Their pumpkin seed one is also delish. What would I like (also for my birthday – next week, :;) how’s that for ‘twisting an arm?) – tho’ I buy very little in the way of tins/packets, the Continental Stockpot prize caught my eye; do make a lot of risottos and casseroles and time has come to be of premium importance. Secondly, am looking at Sami’s Kitchen Spices, ’cause they seem to have some quite unusual ones – the ‘felafel’ and ‘shish tawook’ would be most interesting to try. My bottom still fastened to my seat, thank you for the journey, Lorraine :) !

Good selection this month!! I would love to try the Smirnoff and Gordon’s boxes. They sound like a party waiting to happen!!

  • 40. Dina | June 4th, 2011 at 10:06 am | #

What a great selection ! I think for me it would have to be the Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef – the whole family loves Wagyu as a treat and the butcher we used to buy it from has just had to close down (very sad).
Also my husband’s favourite dish to cook is Spanish Chicken, which you need great Chorizo for – it’s not easy to find the right one, so we would love to try this one as well.

  • 41. ROULA | June 4th, 2011 at 10:08 am | #

  • 44. Melody | June 4th, 2011 at 10:21 am | #

My son has moved to Sydney and I hope he is eating and drinking well, since he arrived in the big smoke. So, for him, I would love to win the
    Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef pack,
the Sonoma Bread or the Manolete Chorizo which is his favourite fare.
When I recommended a suitable restaurant for his birthday recently, he replied..”If they serve Chorizo, I’m there”
    Thanks
    Mel

  • 48. rhiannon | June 4th, 2011 at 10:40 am | #

I would love the beef for my boyfriend’s birthday party but unfortunately we live in Sydney.

So instead I could make some tasty treats for the party (25th June) – some felafels & za’atar marinated meat (Sami’s Kitchen spices) or we could indulge in some smirnoff and gordon’s cocktails to get the party going!

  • 49. Vikker | June 4th, 2011 at 10:42 am | #

To paraphrase a hero of mine Homer Simpson “mmm beer”. Would love the Wagyu and Carlton pack as a)I already drink Carlton and b) now it is colder Im looking for an excuse to crank the barby, and I think those steaks would do just the trick.
    Cheers

  • 50. Barbara Lindsay | June 4th, 2011 at 10:55 am | #

As I love to make soups and risottos I would love the Continental Stock Pot.

Would be thrilled with the Smirnoff & Gordon’s pack. My brother and I just recently moved houses, and these would really pump up the housewarming party! Thank you NQN!

  • 55. Jackie | June 4th, 2011 at 11:30 am | #

My husband and I have been on the search for the best sourdough in Sydney for a while now. So far Iggy’s is the winner by far (pity they always sell out so quickly), so we would like to see how Sonoma rates against them! Bring on the sourdough please!

  • 56. Megadrama | June 4th, 2011 at 11:34 am | #

I love how reading NQN is such an amazing source of info about products and restaurants I never knew existed. Thanks for letting us in on Tasmanian Rain – sounds very pure and like the song lyric “You and me dancing in the Summer Rain.” Would love to win some and try it out.
Market to Market June has created something of a “domestic argument (uhm) I mean debate” this month, as
He-who-lives-with me, wants to enter for the Oatmeal – I have always found porridge disgusting, so if Be Natural can make one that actually tastes scrummy or even vaguely edible – then that’s something I’d REALLY like to know about!
Also, can NQN do a “Farmers’ Markets” special feature sometime? Or a special feature on “Famers Markets” products you can order online?

  • 57. Joanne T | June 4th, 2011 at 11:34 am | #

    Always enjoy seeing products new,
Inspires, E-X-C-I-T-E-S me to say WHOO HOO! lol
LOVE to try Sami’s Kitchen Shish Tawook And Shawarma with some new recipes,
Shish Tawook And Shawarma would be good karma….please? :)

  • 58. Tina@foodboozeshoes | June 4th, 2011 at 11:40 am | #

I would love to try the Manolete chorizos – they definitely are the new sausage in my household and I’ve been trying to find the best around :)

  • 59. Emma | June 4th, 2011 at 11:56 am | #

I’d absolutely love the Continental Stock Pot pack, as I’m making lots of stews, casseroles and braises in the colder weather and they’d really come in handy! Fingers crossed!

  • 60. chris | June 4th, 2011 at 11:57 am | #

i don’t live in sydney so i guess i will choose the alcohol! i drink Ocean Spray juices regularly and they are very good. red grapefruits and apples are both very healthy and combined with alcohol would boost my intake of vitamins and the alcohol ? im sure that would also do me good …!

  • 61. Emma | June 4th, 2011 at 11:58 am | #

Sometimes when I read your To Market To Market I wish I lived in Sydney, the steak & chorizo sound delicious.
But as I’m in Brisbane, I would love to try Sami’s Kitchen Spices in particular the Shish Tawook & Shawarma.

  • 62. Katy | June 4th, 2011 at 12:14 pm | #

I’d love to try the Carlton & Wagyu! My husband would be over the moon and I’d not have to do the dishes for weeks! ;)

  • 63. judy | June 4th, 2011 at 12:17 pm | #

would love to try the be natural porridge because the weather is getting colder and i know this will warm me up in them mornings

  • 64. Jodie Hartman | June 4th, 2011 at 12:24 pm | #

I love most of the fresh products but alas Rockhampton, Qld, is well beyond the Sydney metro area! I was most excited to see the lovely tea towel, I also have a great collection of vintage linen tea towels and this would make a fantastic modern addition to my collection.

  • 65. Rosemary | June 4th, 2011 at 12:31 pm | #

OK, I’m going to shoot for the stars and say the Wagyu beef! Oh yum! Waaay out of our budget, although I have tried samples at food shows. Time to get out the chef-y recipes to treat it with the loving reverence it deserves!

  • 66. misselty | June 4th, 2011 at 12:41 pm | #

I would love to win the Manolete chorizo. Having returned home from half a year abroad, stopping for a while in Spain, it would be lovely to relive those memories again…!

  • 67. sophia | June 4th, 2011 at 12:53 pm | #

Is this only for Australian residents? Anyway, I LOVE those tea towels! I have a kitchen towel fetish too. And the Sami’s Kitchen Spices sachets sound great, too.

  • 68. Kiaraleigh | June 4th, 2011 at 12:59 pm | #

where to start i would love to be able to enter for products available to Sydney those steaks look awesome unforutnately i live too far down the road :( but i have uni exams coming up and the gin and vokda would be an awesome pick me up afterwards!

  • 69. Fatima | June 4th, 2011 at 1:07 pm | #

I’d love to try the oatmeal as I am on a mission to lose all the weight I gained from 2 babies! :)

  • 70. emma | June 4th, 2011 at 1:13 pm | #

    ooh torn!
pretty sure that wagyu would be enough to make owen put a ring on it.
but i’m a gin girl, so the gordon’s with grapefruit would be right up my alley. decisions decisions!
hahaha sad to say i think gin wins over ring.

  • 71. Amanda | June 4th, 2011 at 1:37 pm | #

I’d love to try the Be Natural Oatmeal. I just looove oatmeal. The Simply Heaven recipe book also sounds great, I love cook books. The tea towels too, cause they are just TOO CUTE! Mind you, anything would be great. I don’t usually win stuff, but fingers crossed :)

  • 72. muppy | June 4th, 2011 at 1:53 pm | #

STEAK and BEER!!!!! I would loooovvve to cook this for my man (and my carnivore daughter!), they would love me forever….(plus it would earn me brownie points, shhhh) :)

  • 73. Amanda | June 4th, 2011 at 2:00 pm | #

The best tapas I’ve had was in Barcelona some time ago so I would love to try really good Spanish chorizo again…

  • 74. Charm | June 4th, 2011 at 2:15 pm | #

I’d love to try the Sonoma bread, but since I live in Melbourne, the spice packs from Sami’s Kitchen would be fantastic – Felafel and Za’atar. =) I’ve always wanted to try making more middle eastern style dishes

  • 75. Jadey | June 4th, 2011 at 2:16 pm | #

    Lorraine,

I’ve been out of work for a little while so good food and treats have been off the “menu” I would adore the Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef pack. To be able to serve up something so special to my new husband would make our day.

If we could sserve it up with the smirnoff & gordons pack that would be the cream on the cake. I have been dying to try the cloudy apple!

Thank You to you and all the companies that have made this possible.

    Jadey :)

  • 76. Peta | June 4th, 2011 at 2:20 pm | #

Oh YUM! I would love to try the Gordon’s Gin and Ocean Spray Ruby Red Grapefruit and Smirnoff No. 21 and Cloudy Apple! Sounds very very nice!

  • 77. Margie May | June 4th, 2011 at 2:22 pm | #

Why not the Wagyu? It would be wonderful to wolf down a qwainty of Wagyu straight off the Weber with a wee dram of Charlton draught to wash it down. Wum!

  • 78. Claire K Creations | June 4th, 2011 at 2:34 pm | #

Oh my goodness what to choose?!? I’d love to try the stocks cause I’ve been making lots of soups, casseroles and risottos lately now the weather is cooling. You also sold me on not having to chop up the onions!

  • 79. Wendy | June 4th, 2011 at 2:40 pm | #

Oh my goodness – yum, yum, yum to them all. But if I have to pick one it woukd be the Continental Stock Pots – perfect for winter soups and stews! Thank you

  • 80. Naz | June 4th, 2011 at 2:46 pm | #

Hi Lorraine Thanks again for a market to market..
I would love the spice mixes- being middle eastern I really do not have the time (let alone the energy) that my mum has to make dishes from scratch.. so these will definately come in very handy. Thanks :)

  • 81. Mary Preston | June 4th, 2011 at 3:12 pm | #

I am in desperate need of some new Tea Towels, so I have my eye on the Vinyl Designs cotton linen tea-towels. I love beautiful & practical.

  • 82. Michelle P | June 4th, 2011 at 3:19 pm | #

This is a tricky one! All these items sound fabulous.

I’ve never been brave enough to cook lebanese food at home but would love to try – I thing the Sami’s Kitchen Falafel and Shish Tawook spice mixes would definitely make the task less daunting!

  • 83. Lyn | June 4th, 2011 at 3:22 pm | #

Have two of my grandsons moving in with me for a little while – what a special granny I would be if I could feed them Wagyu steak.
I can highly recommend the Continental Stockpots after using one in my Osso Bucco yesterday (Osso Bucco and Sonoma Bread = wonderful dinner, even if I do say so myself!).

  • 84. Emily Stephens | June 4th, 2011 at 3:34 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,
Can I just say how much I enjoy reading your blog. It’s something I look forward to each day, when I realise that I haven’t checked it yet I get excited. Haha. I sent the link for your Singapore Fling so my aunty the other day- my aunt and uncle live in Singapore and love the food. Have you ever tried Indochine?
Anyway, I would love to try the Sami’s Kitchen spices. I can never get the falafels I make quite right in the spice department- perhaps the falafel mix would be helpful for that? I would also like to try zaatar. But any flavour really, they all sound delicious!
Thanks for being part of my inspiration in the kitchen!
    Emily

  • 85. Min Ai | June 4th, 2011 at 3:51 pm | #

My husband and I survive in oatmeal for our winter breakfast! It keeps us full, warm and best of all healthy! I’d love to try the oatmeal as the honey and oatmeal flavour combo is getting a little boring! :)

  • 86. JasmyneTea | June 4th, 2011 at 3:59 pm | #

I’d love the Tasmanian Rainwater :) When friends and I go out, they order their fancy chinotto and flavoured sparkling mineral water and blood orange soft-drinks, and all I can order is still water because the carbonation hurts my mouth! SO not fair.

  • 87. Hannah | June 4th, 2011 at 4:01 pm | #

I would like the Be Natural because I’m an oatmeal fanatic, and the packaged instant Uncle Toby’s oats I have at home right now are, in a word, insipid…

  • 88. jess | June 4th, 2011 at 4:55 pm | #

BEER AND STEAKS! Because…I only drink beer on days that end with Y! *Get it?*

Although with the wagyu beef, I’m open to eating that everyday as well but I’ve only tried it a handful of times and I’d love to try different recipes with it such as slicing it thinly for pho which we have once a fortnight or searing it with a lovely yakiniku sauce as an accompaniment.

  • 89. Ellen | June 4th, 2011 at 4:55 pm | #

I’m not putting my hand up for any of these – not based in Sydney but any of the others would be delightful, but I do want to comment on the Be Natural cereal and porridge. I LOVE them both and have been buying them for some months in sunny Adelaide. They are delicious and the winner should be very happy with them both. Enjoy!

  • 90. Shan | June 4th, 2011 at 5:17 pm | #

MMM Sonoma Bread. The fact that I may get a crusty loaf delivered out to Campbelltown (which is technically Sydney Metro – I checked!) sounds brilliant!

  • 91. Helen Carmody | June 4th, 2011 at 5:23 pm | #

The Wagyu set would be the perfect man gift for my husband and his man friends before they set off on their 4 wheeling man adventure to Central Australia

  • 92. Emily | June 4th, 2011 at 5:41 pm | #

I would love the chorizo – all the chorizo I’ve bought recently has disappointed me in terms of its’ flavour, but I don’t think that would be a problem with this one! It looks amazing!

  • 93. Matilda | June 4th, 2011 at 6:33 pm | #

While all the other products are wonderful, it’s a no-brainer for me, the Wagyu pack. My husband says he still hasn’t had a good steak and fondly remembers the flavoursome American steaks. I want to prove him wrong! :-)

  • 94. cityhippyfarmgirl | June 4th, 2011 at 6:55 pm | #

I’ve been instructed to ask for the steaks… sigh. didn’t think he was going to go for the oats.

  • 95. Angie | June 4th, 2011 at 6:59 pm | #

Oh man, hell cut that I’m too far to go for the wagyu! >.<

I would LOVE to try the Smirnoff and Gordon's pack; although I'm not a huge fan of alcohol, I imagine that the grapefruit and apple flavours would make for a mouthwatering post-exams treat for my friends and me ^_^

  • 96. Jharna | June 4th, 2011 at 7:09 pm | #

I’m not a big drinker, but reading about the delicious Smirnoff & Gordon’s pack has got my mouth watering!
Love Ocean Spray’s Ruby Red Grapefruit & the bf adores Cloudy Apple juice, so this alcoholic combo is right up our alley. We are both celebrating our birthdays in June so these drinks could definitely help get the party started…
New reader to this blog and really enjoying your posts so far!

  • 97. Jing | June 4th, 2011 at 7:10 pm | #

I would love to try the porridge pack – perfect for when I get hungry and it’s too early for lunch :-)

  • 98. Charmaine | June 4th, 2011 at 7:12 pm | #

Sonoma… love love bread..great accompaniment to hearty soups in this cold weather.

  • 99. Eve | June 4th, 2011 at 7:59 pm | #

i would love the porridge, your blog makes my lectures at uni so much more interesting:)

  • 100. Penelope | June 4th, 2011 at 8:17 pm | #

The tea towels! the tea towels!!! I’m so obsessed with good linen tea towels that I bought a whole stack of ‘antique’ ones to make cushions covers out of, but they dry so well I can’t take them out of the round eternal of dish washing/ drying/turning over, what to do!. The Vinyl Designs prints are gorgeous, yet the true test is in wiping a freshly soaped, hot wine glass – let me give it a go.

  • 101. Robyn | June 4th, 2011 at 8:17 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,
WOW what a difficult choice…but for me it has to be the Sonoma bread. What could be more perfect to soak up some homemade soup on a chilly Winter night mmmmm.

  • 102. Jessica | June 4th, 2011 at 8:55 pm | #

I’d love to try the Tasmanian Rain Water, I probably won’t try anything so ‘pure’ anywhere else! Must say the Sami’s kitchen spices also look great, particularly the Shish Tawook as I’m always looking for ideas for cooking fish as I generally just end up baking or frying it by itself (boring).

  • 103. Liz | June 4th, 2011 at 9:12 pm | #

Living in the bush does have some disadvantages when it comes to contests like this–so forego the beef. But Sami’s felafel and shawama spice mixes would be fun to try, since my spice selection is very conservative.

  • 104. Lisa | June 4th, 2011 at 9:27 pm | #

I’ve been reading your blog for ages after my husband introduced it to me and I fell in love with your photography, recipes and tips. A few weeks ago, my husband crushed a nerve in his back and has been in excruciating pain since – he’s now waiting for an operation to relieve it, while maxed out on painkillers which aren’t working for him… and he’s missing his beloved beef (I don’t eat red meat). So I’d love to win the Wagyu and beer to improve his spirits – showing him I’m prepared to cook anything (and even blue) to cheer him up and help him endure the time til he’s back on his feet again. (And, with his medical bills right now, good steak is way out of our price bracket).

  • 105. Liz Rolland | June 4th, 2011 at 9:42 pm | #

I am an American reader but I hope I can still win! I’d love to try the Simply Heaven cookbook with cheesecake recipes. I am a low-carb eater and cheesecake is my favorite dessert!
    Thanks!

  • 106. Su | June 4th, 2011 at 9:52 pm | #

    Hi,
I’d love to try the Chorizo :) , my boyfriend is from Chile and is always complaining that it’s hard to find good chorizo in Sydney so it’d be great to give this one a shot!

  • 107. Miriam | June 4th, 2011 at 10:00 pm | #

It is rather difficult to choose just one you know.
I’m going for the Wagyu… I’ve never had it before and being a one income, 2 small children + mortgage family we don’t eat out any more. Actually we almost never buy red meat these days and with my very hard working and long-suffering husband’s birthday approaching this would be a really nice treat. We could fire up the Weber for a change. Who knows, he might even get to christen the cast iron griddle pan he got for Christmas ;-)

  • 108. Anna | June 4th, 2011 at 10:37 pm | #

Oh, how I love “to market, to market” but how do you choose?
I think I’d most love the philly cookbook. Why? Because I love cookbooks (I almost always have one by my bedside for night-time reading), and because a friend who has now moved interstate had this cookbook and I drooled over it every time I visited her. I would love to be able to make some of those delicious recipes any time I wanted.
    Thanks.

  • 109. Nomsie | June 4th, 2011 at 11:11 pm | #

OOooo it’s a toss up between the wagyu and the chorizo…hmmmm…in all it’s meaty goodness I think i’m going to go for the wagyu, such a rarity to be able to sample cattle with such a diet, and wagyu is soooooooo yummy! i think i could just about polish off 2 steaks too ;-)
but why doesnt my local harris farm stock the chorizo :(

  • 110. Kylie | June 4th, 2011 at 11:24 pm | #

I’d have to say sami’s kitchen spices (felafel and Za’attar sound awesome). I think they would be great in preparing yummy quick winter dinners for my little family ans hopefully create interest for our 2year old to eat!!!

  • 111. Julia | June 5th, 2011 at 12:00 am | #

I’d love to try the Smirnoff and Gordon’s packs. I’m heading off on a road trip/beach getaway and those packs look like they would be the perfect complement to the weekend.

  • 112. Charlie | June 5th, 2011 at 1:45 am | #

    Hi Lorraine:

We share the same first name, although since kindergarten I have been called Charlie and it just stuck.

I wish I lived down under so I could enter your contests, they are always wonderful.

I wish I lived down under for the weather!

Oh well I’ll just have to keep reading :`)

I’m so glad to find out I’m not the only one with a tea towel fetish! As soon as I saw the last photo… *SWOON* ! What a fantastic round-up Lorraine. I think it’s needless to say, but I’d love to see that gorgeous tea towel in my collection! :-D

  • 114. Annie | June 5th, 2011 at 8:02 am | #

  • 116. Merryl | June 5th, 2011 at 8:58 am | #

I’d love to try the Smirnoff and Gordon’s. Our twentieth anniversary is in August and these would make our celebration one to remember.

  • 117. The Food Mentalist | June 5th, 2011 at 9:10 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,
I would love to try the Sami’s Kitchen spices because I absolutely love those flavours and think they would bring some fun into the kitchen.
Hope you are having a great weekend x

  • 118. Andrea | June 5th, 2011 at 9:29 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,
I’d like to put my hand up for the Wagyu beef. I’d love to cook this for my nephew, who is nuts about anything meat. The beer would go to his Dad :)
A close second would be the Sonoma bread – I do love a good bread.
    Thanks!

  • 119. rosa | June 5th, 2011 at 9:51 am | #

The Sonoma bread please – having been a Brasserie Bread fan, this might just be the push I need to make a change and try Sonoma!

  • 120. Gabriella | June 5th, 2011 at 10:48 am | #

    Dear Lorraine,
Long time fan, first time commenter :o ) absolutely love this blog.

The Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef absolutely caught my eye- I’m trying my hand at my first dinner party for 12 soon and I’ve been searching far and wide for some big meaty flavours to serve up for a real winter warmth feel. This wagu would be superb- I promise I’d cook it beautifully and it be appreciated by all my guests! :o D

Thank you so much! Guaranteed that even if I don’t get to cook that lovely wagu I’ll be getting all my dinner party recipes from NQN! :o ) x

  • 121. Alix | June 5th, 2011 at 10:50 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,

Oh my……I finally had a chance to sit down and devour your new Market To Market! :)

Such yummy new products and you get to try them all? Lucky girl! I’d love to win a copy of Simply Heaven as I really am a Philly Queen!

    Thanks

  • 122. Shemyla | June 5th, 2011 at 2:31 pm | #

Sonoma or Philadelphia…it’s a toss up between these 2. I think I’d prefer to win the Philadelphia cookbook. Hey, I’d finish the bread off and then there’ll be no more. The cookbook will hopefully keep on giving for years to come

  • 123. Tina | June 5th, 2011 at 3:04 pm | #

Eeney meeney miney moe!….. Sami’s kitchen pack looks wonderful. I am already thinking of ways to use these beautiful products!Thankyou NQN for the chance to partake in this great give away. Cheers

Smirnoff & Gordon’s must simply have been created for me – drinks I want to drink.

  • 125. Penny Freeman | June 5th, 2011 at 4:59 pm | #

I would like to try the continental stock pots for creating some delicious winter warming dishes.

And it might be nice to taste the smirnoff and cloudy apple concoction with dinner!

  • 126. Jo-Ann | June 5th, 2011 at 5:10 pm | #

Gordons and Smirnoff = instant cocktail party. Yes please!!!

  • 127. Ann | June 5th, 2011 at 6:10 pm | #

Hi Lorraine. I would be very pleased if I received the Continental Stock Pots. I haven’t seen that product in the supermarket yet.

  • 128. Imogen | June 5th, 2011 at 6:20 pm | #

I’d love the chorizo – you can never have too much porky goodness!

  • 129. Tess Uncle | June 5th, 2011 at 6:55 pm | #

I would love the sanoma sourdough! I can’t think of any better comfort food on a cold day than sourdough and peanut butter!! I’m addicted!!

  • 130. Dressed and Eaten | June 5th, 2011 at 8:52 pm | #

Loving it all. I would love to try the Wagyu steaks. Like most men my husband is a lover of meat and beer. The poor bugger has been really stressed at work. I know this would bring a smile to his face.

  • 131. Wendy | June 5th, 2011 at 8:55 pm | #

I would absolutely live to try everything here!! I suppose though that I’d really love to try the chorizo, as all the ones that I’ve ever bought have been slightly disappointing in some way…. It would be great to try one actually from Spain!!
I’d also love to try the Sonoma bread, as I’ve always heard great things about it, but have never tried any… :D

  • 132. Fran tapia | June 5th, 2011 at 9:00 pm | #

I’d love to try the Mano eye chorizo – I’d use it as the main with some chickpea mash and some green salsa on the side…. Hmmmm….

  • 133. Fran tapia | June 5th, 2011 at 9:02 pm | #

Ha, ha, ha…. Love the spell checker on my iPad – that is manolete not Mano eye chorizo!

  • 134. Permanently 23 | June 5th, 2011 at 9:03 pm | #

Oh I’m chorizo obsessed! Seriously, I eat them about once a week. As far as I’m, concerned, the kransky has nothing on the old chorizo. Can I put my hand up for that one please NQN?
    x

  • 135. Lee | June 5th, 2011 at 9:53 pm | #

Hi Ms NQN – your blog and Column 8 are the best parts of my day! I read yours first then imagine I’m enjoying the food – less calories that way! – whilst reading the paper!

I would love to have the Philadephia Philly Simply Heaven cookbook Vol 1 open in my kitchen covered in delicious splatters! I recently got Vol 2 and it isn’t quite right, considering my cookbook obsession, not having the precursor…especially when my quite unadventurous mom has vol 1 and keeps raving about the scrumptious recipes!

Thanks to you and the producers for the opportunity!

  • 136. Claire | June 5th, 2011 at 10:28 pm | #

The man and I are totally addicted to anything with sourdough in it – so we would love to try Sonoma bread!!

  • 137. Minnyme | June 5th, 2011 at 11:37 pm | #

My brother in law lives in Sydney – I’d love to win the Wagyu beef for him as being a man about town he would love the gourmet beef/beer combo. He’s also done a huge favour for me lately – picking up and arranging transport to Qld for a dishwasher bought on ebay – thanks to him I am no longer chained to the sink, hooray!!

  • 138. J | June 5th, 2011 at 11:46 pm | #

The beef and beer plz :) They are only 1 letter apart but they definitely the best when together. One thing about reading your blog is that due to my work hours I am often reading it past 11pm, and I get so hungry from reading all your experiences! Would love to have your job =P

  • 139. Charlotte Basher | June 5th, 2011 at 11:47 pm | #

My husband and I are just starting to drink together with dinner and not just with friends, and having a couple of the Smirnoff casks in the fridge would certainly aid in this. Additionally my husband is a little obsessed with anything apple based, and we have made a plan to try and source the Logan Brae juice.

If I am allowed to participate from the US, I’d love to win Za’atar and Shawarma packets from Sami’s Kitchen.

I’ve been looking for Za’atar for a while, and I love to try nicely made spice mixes.

  • 141. Jane | June 6th, 2011 at 1:10 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,
I’d really love to win the Sonoma sourdough as my husband is a sourdough lover and I’d like to prove his theory that the best he’s found is in Tasmania. I love Quinoa though, so the Helga’s bread would be fabulous!
I so look forward to reading your blog!!
    Jane

That was meant to be DISPROVE not prove! Sorry!!!

I’d love to try the wagyu – i’ve only just tried it at home once before and realised it’s a pretty fail proof steak. My boyf loves a good steak (and eats a lot of it) so I’d love to win some steak! Carlton Draft is my flattie’s fav beer too!

  • 144. May | June 6th, 2011 at 3:53 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,
My cooking mojo recently returned and the man & I hosted a small dinner party on the weekend. Everyone had a finger licking good time! Ironically our beer marinated bbq pork ribs were grilled on a new HealtH grill!lol Those wagyu steaks would be an absolute treat. I live with a good man. I tell him almost everyday that I love him (with my best smile) but to do that with gorgeous steak and beer would just make his day!!

  • 145. Patch | June 6th, 2011 at 9:24 am | #

I’d love to try the Helga’s bread with Quinoa as the bread is so dear, I’d like to know it’s tasty before jumping in and buying the whole loaf. Thank you Lorraine!

  • 146. Maria B | June 6th, 2011 at 9:30 am | #

    Hi Lorraine,

I would love to try the Be Natural Porridge & cereal – my partner has just been convinced to give ‘healthy eating’ a go by a kinesiologist but he’s struggling to find healthy brekkie options to tempt him. I’m sure Be Natural will do the trick! Meanwhile I already love Be Natural bars, and would absolutely love to try the vanilla & almond porridge and apple & raisin cereal.

Please help me keep my partner on the healthy path (& treat myself to yummy guilt-free breakfasts too) with Be Natural :)

  • 147. RedDoll | June 6th, 2011 at 9:50 am | #

I would love to win the Sami’s Kitcxhen spices – particularly the Za’atar and Shawarma.

  • 148. Jo | June 6th, 2011 at 9:51 am | #

Guess living in rural Queensland does have disadvantages; so any of your wonderful approved products which do not require refrigeration would be gladly welcomed.

  • 149. Carolle d'Argent | June 6th, 2011 at 10:07 am | #

Why it was only last week that I found Marco Pierre White’s amazing pumpkin soup from your blog Lorraine and was perplexed as to how I should find this great stock pot he mentioned in his recipe so went to my grocery store and to my dismay could only find the usual stock so you can imagine how happy I would be if I won this and can get on making this for the long weekend in our rented chalet at Jinderbyne in front of an open fire with hmmm Sonoma bread?

  • 150. CathyB | June 6th, 2011 at 10:28 am | #

My husband of a year has supported me while I have completed a 6 month Japanese translation course so I will give him the Carlton Draught beer to drink with a Wagu sukiyaki I will make from a favourite family recipe with shitake and enoki mushrooms, water cress, dashi and al dente asparagus added (my secret addition) with boile rice. Yummy.

  • 151. rhiannon | June 6th, 2011 at 10:29 am | #

Are we allowed to enter each day? If so… I would love the Sami’s kitchen spices (felafels & za’atar)or the smirnoff and gordon’s cocktails to use at my boyfriend’s birthday bash on the 25th June. (pretty please!)

  • 152. Monica | June 6th, 2011 at 10:54 am | #

OH my dear what an aray of giveaways … well i would be happy with any, but those smirnoff packs would come in very handy at the bridal shower i am planning for sis in law to be , the cloudy apple flavour sounds too lush .

  • 153. Mariah | June 6th, 2011 at 11:16 am | #

Keen to try the Helga quinoa and flaxseed bread. Have heard nothing but good things about quinoa and would love to try it in bread!

  • 154. hui yee | June 6th, 2011 at 11:39 am | #

Wow any of these items would be fantastic! But I’d have to go for the Continental packs – I’m loving this wintery soup weather =)

  • 155. Steph | June 6th, 2011 at 1:11 pm | #

I find it hilarious that people are buying our rain. XD

I’d probably go for the Falafel and Shawarma spice mixes. I love using herbs and spices to make the tins of chickpeas, lentils etc I use exciting for my family. This leads to masterpieces like ‘Six Tin Bake’ X)

  • 156. jenny | June 6th, 2011 at 2:27 pm | #

Sami’s spices because I adore spices I love anything new and interesting, hence the spice draw that I had built in my new kitchen.

  • 157. Sarah | June 6th, 2011 at 5:01 pm | #

  • 158. Crystal | June 6th, 2011 at 7:10 pm | #

Because my mother eats Philadelphia from the tub BY the tub, I’d love the simply heaven book to inspire her to consume the cheese in other ways :D so she can appreciate it in all forms!

  • 160. Kay | June 6th, 2011 at 9:56 pm | #

O…M…G The prize winning wagyu and the carlton draught is what dreams are made of!!! I’m imagining an aussie backyard bbq to bring summer into this cool winter weather :)

  • 161. Tammie | June 6th, 2011 at 10:01 pm | #

I’d would like to try the wagyu please. My husband loves wagyu and he’d love me for it!

  • 162. Aurelia | June 6th, 2011 at 10:06 pm | #

I’m putting my hand up for the malnolete chorizo. We love the stuff and I go through kilos of it!

  • 163. Amy | June 6th, 2011 at 10:12 pm | #

In the interests of entering the ‘World’s Most AMAZING Girlfriend Hall of Fame’, I would like to put my hand up for the wagyu and beer. Who knows, it might even improve my low iron levels… double bonus! If the wagyu proves too popular among your readers, the oatmeal and sausages look yummy too! Thanks Lorraine. :)

  • 164. Brett | June 6th, 2011 at 11:47 pm | #

Well I am not sure if I would be the most popular gal but I would be in heaven if I won the beef and beer…living in India for the past few years my family and I have missed eating beef and I have missed drinking a great cold beer…and as I am heading back to Delhi in a month for another year what a way to leave with a special taste of beer and beef….obviously it will make the transition back to butter chicken and chai even that much more difficult but I am willing to suffer that pain!

  • 165. Dianne | June 7th, 2011 at 9:20 am | #

Lorraine, I just love your blog and ready it every day with my morning coffee. It would be lovely to win the wagyu pack with my husband and father both celebrating their birthdays on the 22nd June. A lovely birthday treat for them, Dianne

  • 166. Nikki | June 7th, 2011 at 9:36 am | #

I would a love a copy of the Philadephia Philly Simply Heaven cookbook. I find I am becoming obsessed with cream cheese and would love to know other ways to cook with it! Yummmm…

  • 167. Elaine | June 7th, 2011 at 11:46 am | #

Lorraine, I’m new to the world of blogs and your blog has been the portal to a whole new world for me.
I’d love to try the Wagyu beef and Carlton beer. Wagyu has never been in my budget so I would love to try it at least once.

  • 168. helen | June 7th, 2011 at 12:23 pm | #

I would love to try the wagyu. I have never actually tried it as I can’t justify to spend $50 on a steak out and I can’t justify buying a wagyu steak and accidently overcooking it at home!

  • 169. Mcraney | June 7th, 2011 at 12:25 pm | #

Since I am 8243.2 Nautical Miles from Melbourne, I think the only easily mailed item in your lovely Market to Market would be the adorable tea towel. I have been collecting tea towels for many years and would love to add this beauty to my collection.

If shipping is not a problem, I would enjoy trying the Sami’s Kitchen Spices – Shawarma and Za’atar are the two I would like to try.

Australia is on my list of places to visit. I feel like reading NQN is like a quick visit and I am learning so much. I really enjoy reading about your foods!

I’d love to try the Gordon’s Gin and Smirnoff mixers, because I love the sound of the Cloudy Apple and Graprefruit flavours. This would make for a special party weekend for us!

  • 172. Michelle | June 7th, 2011 at 4:00 pm | #

Ooooh so much choice! I think that the wagyu beef pack would be amazing. I recently made a giant batch of beetroot chutney which is a perfect accompaniment to beef of any kind. Mmmm. *drools*

  • 173. Phunk | June 7th, 2011 at 4:02 pm | #

Excellent ‘To Market’! How good does that wagyu look!?!?
Given that gin is my new favourite drink du-jour, i’d love the Gordon’s & Smirnoff pack. I bet that vodka would make great appletini’s!

  • 174. Liv | June 7th, 2011 at 9:05 pm | #

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to try the Gordon’s & Smirnoff mixes please… I’m going to be moving to WA at the end of next month, and I’m hoping to have some of my friends over for a farewell party before I head off to a place where I know NOBODY!
But seriously, Lorraine, I’d be happy with any of the goodies! :) So you can put my name down for any of them.
    Thanks!!

Hi Lorraine, Please put me down for the Tasmanian Rain. Ever since I was given a copy of the book Fine Waters by Michael Mascha I have really enjoyed tasting different waters. I think being from Tasmania this would be pure and refreshing and on another note I think the bottle is very stylish too! Thank you.

  • 176. suze | June 7th, 2011 at 9:31 pm | #

so many tasty things, i’d love to try the Felafel and Za’atar spice blends so I can make my own Felafel at home and sit around and eat it all day.

  • 177. Nicole | June 7th, 2011 at 10:59 pm | #

I am a huge philly cheese fan and would love to try out the Simply Heaven cookbook! I can picture myself drooling over the pages and taking forever to decide on what receipe to try out first/second/third/need I go on :)

  • 178. KirstyS | June 8th, 2011 at 6:19 am | #

Smirnoff and Gordon’s for me, please! I’m usually a wine drinker but have been on a great trip in the UK where I tried lots of different things and expanded my drinking repertoire but haven’t actually tried either of those.

Having said that, I’m also quite partial to the spices… and I could always do with more teatowels… and if I lived in Sydney then I’d be begging for the bread… *lol*

  • 179. FoodMuster - Courtne | June 8th, 2011 at 9:04 pm | #

I would love to try the chorizio. I have only purchased chorizio from the supermarket, sad isn’t it!!

  • 180. Sheree Midson | June 9th, 2011 at 1:49 am | #

In the cold winter months how can a person go past the Wagyu Beef?? And being a fair dinkum Aussie, all good meats need to be washed down with a cold beer!

  • 181. Carly | June 9th, 2011 at 6:40 am | #

My husband is leaning over my shoulder … “What are you reading? What are you doing? Mmmmm steak and beer, that looks good” … And considering his normal lack of interest in my favorite thing, food, since he has shown an interest (and who wouldn’t!) I’d love to win him the Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef … Thanks!

  • 182. JetBlack | June 10th, 2011 at 7:46 am | #

Good chorizo is still so hard to find! The situation is getting better but it’s a hit and miss situation. I used to think I hated chorizo but it was just because i had tried a bad one 1st up. Lots of my friends are in this situation too, so I’d love to win this prize and have a chorizo night where I’ll cook it up 5 ways and make a few more chorizo lovers. xo

  • 183. Happy Sapien | June 11th, 2011 at 12:32 am | #

Hi Lorraine, I have a massive jar of Nutella that would go really well with some fresh Helga’s bread. Come to think of it, the Sonoma sourdough will go really well with the stew I’ve got lined up for work lunch this week.

  • 184. Bec G | June 11th, 2011 at 8:53 pm | #

Some awesome new products there. Would love to try them all but seeing as I’m not in Sydney I’ll go for the Continental Stock.

  • 185. Ms Marc | June 11th, 2011 at 10:42 pm | #

Hi Lorraine, I thought I’d write in to have a go in winning the Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef. Only reason being hubby loves his bbq. Also our anniversary is coming up and I thought this will be a great treat for him. If not that, hoping for the Manolete Chorizo, please! Thanks!

  • 186. kisane | June 12th, 2011 at 9:15 am | #

I too dont want to sound like an alcoholic but my girlfriend swares by these self contained packs by smirnoff and gordons. would be great to have in the fridge for when friends drop in unexpectantly and dont want the obligitory cup of tea.

  • 187. Kelly | June 12th, 2011 at 5:33 pm | #

Currently my household is split on the bread debate – half of us Helga’s, half Burgen. I’d love the Helga’s so that we can finally solve this debate! It looks delish.

  • 188. L.L.N. | June 12th, 2011 at 5:44 pm | #

I would like to try the Helga’s bread as man or woman cannot live on bread alone but they can try. Just add jam!

  • 189. jules | June 12th, 2011 at 5:58 pm | #

Sonoma sonoma sonoma… we can’t get sonoma anywhere near where I live, but I’ve read about it! Hubby had some and it’s been the only bread he’s been able to eat without suffering! so I’d love some sonoma bread. xxx thank you!

  • 190. Brenda | June 12th, 2011 at 6:01 pm | #

Helga’s bread sounds fab…we go through so much bread in this household but I would love to try a quinoa and flaxseed version! Thank you!

  • 191. Jody J | June 12th, 2011 at 6:03 pm | #

Hi Lorraine, The Smirnoff & Gordons packs sound fabulous. I usually only have clear vodka in the house for when I paint fondant, so it would be good to have some variety,…..

  • 192. Noela | June 12th, 2011 at 6:17 pm | #

Yes please, to the Philly Simply Heaven Volume 1 cookbook for my collection.
I can taste the lovely philly cheesecakes right now.

  • 193. Alisa | June 12th, 2011 at 6:34 pm | #

I’d love to try Sami’s Kitchen spice mixes – I’m obsessed with falafel and this sounds like it would work much better than those horrid falafel mixes you just add water to!

  • 194. Sally | June 12th, 2011 at 6:37 pm | #

Tough choise although I think that I would have to choose the Be Natural, sounds tasty! Yum

  • 195. Karen | June 12th, 2011 at 6:45 pm | #

I’d love to try the Be Natural cereal oatmeal. I’ve been making your Tropical Muesli recipe for over two years now because apparently my hubby can’t live without it every morning ;D But I’d love to try something else just as scrumptuous and healthy, especially one more suited to cold Winter mornings in Canberrrrrrrra. xx

    Hi NQN,
yes, yes, yes please! I would love to have the Gordon & Smirnoff pack. We’ve been constantly sick in our house the last 6 months, so I desperately need some boose to wash the viruses away :-) And I looooove red grapefruit!

  • 198. Chanel | June 12th, 2011 at 7:49 pm | #

I would love to try the Carlton Draught Wagyu Beef. In fact Paul bought a case of Carlton Draught this weekend – he loves the beer, and we both love wagyu! I imagine it would be an incredible meat.

  • 199. Emma | June 12th, 2011 at 7:54 pm | #

    Thanks NQN!

  • 201. @5pandas | June 12th, 2011 at 8:14 pm | #

    Hi Lorraine,
with a big family of meat eaters to cook for every night, and two men serious about beer, the meat pack would help tremendously. Always nice to catch up with your site. All the best, @5pandas

    Hi Lorraine,
The Smirnoff & Gordon’s pack would be the perfect thing to have in the fridge after a looong day at work… and you’ve got to love the fact that the “goon bag” doubles as a built in pillow… not that I’m a lush or anything!! ;)

  • 203. Kylie | June 12th, 2011 at 8:52 pm | #

The Be Natural Oatmeal and Porridge looks very tasty – Vanilla and Almond is one of my favourite combos. I like that it is portion controlled too.

Those grass fed Wagyu steaks must taste absolutely amazing. I am having a birthday party for my daughter and her boyfriend in two weeks and those steaks would be a perfect main course so am crossing my fingers!

  • 208. muppy | July 13th, 2011 at 2:55 pm | #

I received my bread, thanks so much. :D It doesn’t really taste like quinoa, just tastes like most of the Helgas breads do!
