When we visited Paris a few years ago, there was one place that I was so excited to visit, luxury food brand Fauchon. A store with highly desirable goodies in beautiful packaging I spent far too much time gazing at pretty things and buying them. And why did I spend so long? Because I knew that I wasn’t able to get these goodies back home! I had such a serious love for their products that I looked into getting them for our wedding favours but alas it proved quite difficult as there was no stockist in Australia. That’s now changed because Melbourne Parisian-inspired jewellery store Angelique is now the exclusive stockist of Fauchon in Australia!
Thanks to Angelique, four lucky Not Quite Nigella readers will win a Fauchon pack with these elegant goodies: Fauchon Le Bonheur Happiness Tea 100g (retail $24.95), Fauchon Milk Chocolate Heart Tin (retail $19.95) and Fauchon Chocolate Butter Caramels (retail $19.95)! For a chance to win all you have to do is tell me what you love about France and why! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST on the 20th of May, 2012. You can enter this competition once daily and it is open to anyone within Australia.
Pssst! If you can’t wait to get your hands on some Fauchon goodies, you can visit Angelique’s Parisian salon inspired store at 1117 High Street Armadale, Victoria
Best of luck!
Lots of love,
Lorraine

I have been very fortunate, Lorraine, I’ve been to Paris three times, this fall will be four! I love EVERYTHING about Paris. I love Musée D’Orsay, walking along La Seine after a long drawn out dinner, breakfast at a local bakery dipping my croissant into my café au lait, I love that I can figure out the subway and that I’ve never gotten lost, the incredible restaurants, people watching with a glass of wine at Georges V on the Champs Elysees, grabbing a quick crèpes for lunch and eating it on a park bench…sigh.
I have to say croissants! after visiting Paris and trying a croissant for breakfast I was in love, and sadly have not found one here in aus that is as good.
I always visit Fauchon when I go to Paris. It fabulous just looking at all that beautifully packaged wonderful food. I understand why you’d have wanted it for your wedding. GG
I love Croque Monsieurs! In France we ate these almost every day (and came back about 5 kg heavier!).
I love the architecture. So many beautiful buildings and streetscapes over there.
Ahh memories. At the top of the Eiffel Tower I took John’s hand and said, “I think you should ask me to marry you.”
“Oh right,” he said. “Seriously,” I said.
laughter
“I’m not kidding.”
“You REALLY want to be married?”
“It’s time, it’s been 8 years.”
laughter
“This isn’t funny”
laughter again and then
“Maureen, will you marry me?”
“yes”
“Are you serious?”
“YES I’m serious!”
so we got married
I love Paris! Take me to Paris and let me walk along Rue Cler and let me buy a baguette with beautiful strawberry jam avec une tasse de thé. or Iles Flottante!
I could go on forever about Paris but I will stop so there is room for someone else to comment.
THEN I’d like some of this candy. It looks very Parisien.
Je t’aime France and will miss not being there this year. The accent sends shivers down your spine with expectations of great food, wine and oolala. Cannot beat the feeling of walking down Champs Elysees and imagining all the great historical events that have taken place there and sipping a champagne whilst the world goes by.
Dancing along the Seine with a French friend…..red wine, music, good company and it seeming like the most natural place in the world for a little dance. It was also awesome to see the lights being turned off the Eiffel tower (in the wee hours of the morn)…they went off in waves and it looked amazing.
I love French men. They are very sexy and very naughty!
Unfortunately, I have never been to France, but French food is my all time favourite. It was the first”posh” restaurant, that my big brother took me to, for my 12th birthday and I fell in love with it . I thought the food was amazing. I visited it many times over the years that we lived in NSW and my husband and I even had our first breakfast after we got married their.
Champagne!…bubbles are my weakness…and macarons….and cheese….and baguettes….and croissants….and chocolate….and….
Having never been fortunate enough to have been to Paris. Wouldn’t it be lovely to win a little bit of Paris in this prize pack it sounds sensational.
I haven’t been to Paris yet but I will be there in 1.5 weeks time! On my itinerary I willbe visiting many patisseries and bakeries! All the pictures I have seen, they just look so pretty and a shame to eat!
Simple pleasures, champagne and a ripe cheese with a fresh baguette on a summer day by the Seine.
I love the food, the beautiful buildings and the French accent!
never having been to France it is the simple relaxed lifestyle and the language that I find appealing
I love the people – they have style, and are friendly in a FRench way that is cool!
The food – it has great ingredients and is warm and friendly and in the country is just plain ‘Homely’!!
The males have a naughty, cool, sensitive, attractive and sexy wonder about them! Just Parisian and French men have ‘it’!!
i loved France because of all the old cafe’s that you can relax in and watch the world go past
I have to admit… I hated hated HATED Paris. It was so much hard work as a foreigner. I wasn’t staying anywhere near the tourist part of town, so it was predominently locals who expected you to speak French – with my schoolgirl (and very poor schoolgirl at that) French. It wasn’t even just the language barrier – I wanted to buy the most insanely beautiful and fabulous cashmere (CASHMERE!!) jumper in one of the big department stores, and went to about 5 counters trying to buy it, and they all sent me elsewhere. It was so frustrating. I gave up, and to this day, I miss the jumper that ought to have been mine.
Having said that, I liked 3 things about France/Paris:
1. I was there during the Tour de France last year. This was planned – my mother and I (both cyclists) have been watching the Tour and Cadel’s progress for years. We knew it was his year. And we were proved so right. I went and saw them come into Paris. I still feel like crying a bit just thinking about it. It was incredible. So exciting and wonderful. And I was a metre away from Cadel. It was… overwhelming. You can’t get a sense of how exciting and wonderful it really is on the streets of Paris when it comes in from the television. Everyone should go when they come into Paris just once.
2. Versailles. When we went to Paris, we knew we wanted to do Fat Tyre Bike Tours, which are just bike tours around the cities (there are equivalents in London and Berlin and a few other places, and I HIGHLY recommend them, they are fantastic). We signed up for a day trip out to Versailles. The castle itself didn’t impress me much, but the tour was incredible. We got on a train with our bikes (v stressful) and stopped at a nearby town to buy lunch from a market, and then rode around all the grounds. UNBELIEVABLE. And hearing the history about it was awesome. Apparently Marie Antoinette dyed her sheep and chased them around her gardens. There you go.
3. The Paris gelato company Amorino. Best banana gelato ever. And yes, I went to Italy so I know my gelato. So awesome. Don’t bother with Berthillion ice cream, it’s overrated. Just go to Amorino.
I’ve sadly never been to France but I’m sure if I went my favourite thing would be visiting all the amazing boulangeries.
Eclairs!!! Sadly Paris is still on my bucket list, cant say I have been there – yet
The best thing about France, the lifestyle! Coffee dates with friends, fresh bread and cakes at gorgeous patisseries, candle lit dinners in fancy restaurants, beautiful buildings and fashion galore.
That packaging is GORGEOUS! and so french inspired
Awesome prize!
I love the food in France, especially bread and cheese, but the architecture and scenery is also beautiful. The mountains of Chamonix would have to be my favourite.
I have never been to France, but have always dreamed of it. My love of it stems from the food.
I have always had a love affair with french food. I can’t go past it. My husband even booked a 3 hat french restaurant to propose in, knowing i wouldn’t be too suspicious, as we almost always went out for french food!
i’ve been to france once and it was a place i didn’t think i would love, but i was wrong! i loved the atmosphere, how the locals would just be strolling along holding hands and carrying a bottle of wine and picnic basket, oblivious to anything but each other, this was paris of course! the countryside was just so picturesque and the locals so charming i couldn’t help but fall in love with it! one day i would love to go back but this time with my husband and see the places i missed out on the last time.
I’ve never had the wherewithal to travel overseas, however I am thankful regarding France… because it is the homeland and birthplace of my favourite actress, Audrey Tautou. The star of Amélie, Audrey is a joy to behold and the focus of my love of French cinema!
i havent had the pleasure of going to france but it would be fantastic to experience the wonderful foods there
Chic, romantic and historical, France is the epitome of classic, european style.
Any country that advocates big bowls of hot chocolate as breakfast food deserves our love. Vive la France!
I love how good food is available everywhere! Our experience in Italy was that unless you had $$$, the food was really awful. But in France everyone takes pride in producing things that are good to eat.
I actually found French people to be very lovely. None seemed to mind the torture I put their language through, and happily swapped to English/ mime when my vocab of 10 words ran out.
What I love about France is that it is home to the “French language” which is the first foreign language I learnt – and opened my mind up to the fact that there is a whole world out there beyond Australia – where people think and speak differently and have their own unique culture.
Also, adore Fauchon “Morning Tea” have a jealously guarded stash of it (picked up overseas as there were no stockists in Australia) for special pick-me ups.
Now I know Fauchon is available in Melbourne, I’ll be heading to Angelique’s in Armadale next time I’m down there.
The potential for jewellery shopping at the same time is a total bonus – “Oh, honey I just went in to get tea bags and who would have know it, they had these delightful earrings too”
Delighted
France’s châteaux and castles are world renown, with some open for public viewing, which allows visitors a chance at this country’s early history.
I am resisting a Facebook countdown until I next find myself on French soil (6 weeks to go). France captured my heart when I first bit into a plump juicy heirloom tomato at a thriving market in Arles. Every stall was like a Cezanne still life painting and each stall holder was passionate about their produce, generous with their wisdom and warm with their smiles. Everything just tastes better in France.
The oh-so-sexy accent (is Manu reading this???),and the food….oh, the food. I can spend hours gazing at the patisserie. Croissant are just not the same in Woolworths
and those devine chocolate choux buns, and those beautiful fruit tartlets and the little ornate chocolates with heaven inside…. They have an attention to detail that we bogans just don’t have. NQN, if you’re giving away these French chocolates, no-one can give them a better home than moi, moi, moi!
I love the pastries and sweets! There’s a patisserie around every corner!
I haven’t visited France YET, but I love French patisserie, charcuterie, and the iconic frou-frou shape of the Eiffel Tower.
What I love about France?
The fact that every December, you get to eat Perigord truffles! Lots and lots of Perigord truffles! <3
Even though I have never visited France I do love their interior decorating style, something I am trying to recreate in my home.
macarons.
That is all.
x
I love so many things about France, but the most is the mystery for me. I have yet to travel there…
France is my dream destination, i am half french on my fathers side and love everything about France but most of all the patisseries – i would live in Laurdee if i could – and i have just brought a Laurdee handkerchief to have framed to put above my french dresser so i can dream about all the treats in paris
Oh Lorraine, darling husband always had difficulty getting me away from Fauchon: talk about a kid in a candy store
! Especially fascinating for me was the ready made food counter with all that gorgeously appetizing food styling! And when I think about what I like best in France it has to be that the French live to eat and not eat to live
! Their love of fresh food, those wonderful markets, their knowledge of what a dish should be like and insistence on the best! [OK, I have had my problems with Parisian shopgirls just like Ophelia, but . . .
!]
I love their dance music, yes something different.
Daft Punk were produced as in born from France.
Amazing beats that keep you moving,
Which is good cause they have the best pastries in the world.
A little less dancing means a little more weight.
Love France for the vibrancy and respect for good food.
My favourite place in Paris has to be the Opera de palais garnier. Absolutely stunning and magical. And the fact that there is a bookshop dedicated solely to cookbooks! But what I love about France is that it gave me my wonderful partner Jerome.
I love the sounds of the French speaking French… French films. French food. French anything. I am a Frankofile, I am afraid. Not been to France but have always been crazy about anything French. Crepes Suzette… oh my.
I’ve never been to France,
I think it would be nice,
To dine on the local cuisine,
and drink the local wine.
But alas, my credit card would explode and so too my waist line!
A taste of France will have to do, so please let this prize be mine
I haven’t been to France but its the mystique of the place that appeals to me. Walking beside the Seine is but a dream.
And how I would love to be able to speak French fluently!
Ooh, lah, lah….les dames. Tres elegantes!
Last time I was in Paris, I discovered a tea and knitting salon near where I was staying. How wonderful is a city that combines tea and knitting with such elegance!
I have, sadly, never been to France
However I hope to one day have the chance to visit and discover it’s wonders for myself! The food, the history, the champagne, the food, the architecture, the food, the wine, and oh… did I mention the food??? How lovely it would be to get a little taste of what I could expect…
My favourite thing about France… Since I have never been there but I grew up in Canada with a lot of French around me and a lot of French influence… I would have to say the food. I love the pastries!
I read the post yesterday about the French bakery in Coonawarra and the Chocolate Croissants and I thought… OMG I have to go to Coonawarra!
They have a REAL FRENCH bakery!
There’s so much to love about France, the history, the food, the culture, the scenery, the art scene, the music, the fashion, the people… all blend together seamlessly in harmony to create something so special in my memory. I love the way the French always seem to be so charming in everything that they do, and the passion they show in their daily lives. Take a walk down the Champs Elysées, you’ll get the sense of warmth and friendly buzz around, simply wonderful! Stopping by the lovely Ladurée to buy some of their delicately crafted selection of traditional pastries (yum
), then taking the time to wander to the nearby parks to enjoy the lovely sunshine and music, absorbing all the sights, sounds, smells, taste and getting touched by the atmosphere… it’s a great feeling that’s simply sensational!
I haven’t been lucky enough to visit Paris yet but look forward to seeing the sites and eating all the yummy foods when the kids leave home.
I love the thought of Paris…..alas, I have never been there physically, but do dream of it. I love frech toast, croissants, eclaires, and of course the proverbial french kiss!
btw…i love the poem from Deb!!
France,
The food is such a delight,
the atmosphere feels so right
Scrumptious pastries and a cake,
Inspires me to bake
I love the variety of wine,
they all taste so divine
France has the eiffel tower,
I stand on top and feel the power.
France has the language of love and when you put chocolate in the mix, you have perfection.
I adore everything to do with France. I have been twice and I just know it’s the place I want to spend the rest of my life. I love the busy streets, I love the people and the language and the culture but most of all I love the food. I love how in France food is not just something you have to eat so you can function it’s art, it’s something that is talked about and thought endlessly about. Shopping for food is as important as preparing and eating food and this is exactly how I feel.
The romance in the air!! It’s everywhere.
It’s where my mate went for a holiday, and it’s been a year & he’s still not back! He met the girl of his dreams there, and you’ve got to love that.
It’s quite hard to nail down one thing about France. But if pressed, I’d have to say the quality of their food. Even their bad food is quite good – at least that was my experience last time. I’ll be there again in a few weeks so I’ll have the opportunity to test that out all over again.
The old world charm, and all the delicious pastries and baked delights.
France?? I guess it’s that indescribable ‘je ne sais quoi mystique’!
One of my favourite thing about Paris (apart from the pastries) was a ride on the huge ferris wheel with views of the Champs-Élysées. My first visit was in 2000 and it was very romantic viewing Paris from the top of the wheel with my partner.
The view from the Eiffel Tower at night….breathtakingly beautiful.
What I love about France? One word says it all: ROMANCE…
(I am not entering to win as I am an “outsider”)
I will never forget the Eiffel Tower at night. We were driving along sightseeing and I happened to turn my head to the right and there it was in it’s full glory. It took my breathe away, to date it has been one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.
Haven’t been yet but thanks to Tash, have sampled freshly made chouquette sucree, in love! And now have my very own giant jar of pearled sugar ready to sprinkle!
The architecture, food – especially pastries and lifestyle – Love it !!
What I love about France is that the first morning I spent walking around Paris (which was my third day, as the first two I spent at/going to the darn hospital) was how blissfully, inexpressibly happy I was to be eating Berthillon ice cream in the city I’d always wanted to visit. Paris is happiness to me.
The beautiful fresh food markets and lovely people. I speak a bit of French and I think they appreciated the effort I made. The Parisian culture is so different from ours that a lot of the time we inadvertantly insult them. I would love to visit France again…
Ah Paris, thee city of love.. for pastries and cakes!
I have not been lucky enough to go to France but I do love French food both eating and cooking. In particular boeuf bourguignon.
It’s the climate, it’s the food, it’s the cathedrals, it’s the landmarks, it’s the galleries, it’s the cafes, it’s the French! xx
I’ve had the wine and cheese and love them. One day I’ll get there to experience the bread. I could seriously do damage to the chocolate.
For me it was about getting lost in the streets of Paris and finding a beautiful little cafe with great food
France,Oh!!!how I’d love to see,
Over bubbly and brie,
The eiffel tower to the countryside, I’d soak it all in and be all Pari!
its an experience which can only be experienced in France…
I love that France is the ancestral home of my hubby
J’adore France. Jádore Fauchon, I too have spent many hours eyeing off the beautiful little parcels of joy in their store. I have been lucky enough to spend some wonderful times in France. The french faire is definately something (like many others above) which makes me love that culture even more. Specifically for me, some of my special favourites are:
1. Browsing the fresh produce markets at Rue Mouffetard
2. Eating mussells & frites in Honfleur
3. Chevre Chaude salad in a little cafe in Versailles
4. Buying a simple fresh warm ‘Batard’ from the boulangerie and devouring half of it before even getting home.
5. Eating as slowly as possible amazing macaron from a little Parisian patisserie in St Germaine.
6. Hard to go past the simplicity of a nutella crepe.
7. Eating Bouillabaisse by the marina in Marsailles.
France is just wonderful and a real treasure in this world.
Jádor POODLES!!! They don’t moult fur all over my house! Poodles are the only dogs that don’t aggravate my son’s asthma and allergies… we really love our Poo-Poo!
France cannot be France without greatness and amazing food which is most delicious, there desserts melt in my mouth like Chocolate Ganache cake.
I love those typically French streets with bakeries and little shops. I also loved the art galleries and architecture.
Such a great experience.
Ever since I saw the movie Amelie I fell in love with France, to me, the country is just do damn beautiful, the scenery, the romance in the air, the people … Just everything. Oh how I wish I can go there right now
The art for sure….from the Lourve to the Pompidou…can spend days in there!
I absolutely love the FOOD – the nutella crepes, crusty baguettes, cheese & jamon – yum!
Love how everything is so beautiful there…the food, the culture, the museum, even the language! You dont have to spend much there to enjoy France either!
Amongst other things, I love the food in France. There’s just something so simple and rustic about it, yet it’s always so fresh and wonderful.
I love the style in France from the way a road in the countryside meanders between perfect green fields, to the architecture, gardens and presentation of everything from flower shops to patisserie’s and window dressing. And the shoes and being able to just sit and breathe the French life into your soul and listen to that romantic language….
The delectably rich and sinful pastries. One word to sum them up: Yum!
PASTRIES!
Honestly, I think that may be the top reason why I want to visit France.
I love France even though I have never been there! Mostly I like the idea of the way they eat (and what they eat), the culture, and the beautiful places I’ve heard of. I’ve read books like Almost French and Julia Child’s own autobiography that have made me yearn to visit, myself.
A L’Etoile D’Or in the 9eme is awesome and a true highlight of France.
I love French movies. Amelie is a romantic and delightful film!
oh where to start apart from paris itself, fresh buttery croissants it would have to be the accent, especially of the male variety!
There is nothing like French coffee, cheese, wine or any pastry,or even pizza! The architecture, the beaches, the cafes, museums and culture are all first class!
I would love to go to France, drink their wines, taste their food, explore the City and speak the language of love..
I love the generous and (to me) fancy-without-even-trying people. Their accents make me melt.
I’ve never been to Paris yet but any time someone mentions it, my mind drifts lovingly to images of freshly baked croissants and my mouth waters.
Omg omg omg!!! Yay!!! This is an AMAZING!!! Really hope I win hehe and even if I don’t I m gonna get some fauchon in armadale yay! So happy they re in Melbourne hehe
thanks Lorraine for the opportunity to win ~
laduree! yum!
I havent been but Im sure my favourite thing would be the picnic culture that is thriving there.. wine, bread, cheese & a few pastries or chocolates for after..
Pastries. Can’t go past French pastries.
What do I love about France???
It’s so French.

Champagne – although if I’m ever lucky enough to travel there I’m sure it would make the choice harder.
Took the wife and kids a few years ago to France. Stayed in Garche, across from the Maree (council). It was so pretty, the main square was just like you see in the pictures, white houses with blue shutters. Just made you feel like skipping and twirling, & I am a blokey bloke. Even on the Champs Elysees, you can get a bargain for food. If you walk down the road, on the left is an arcade in the shops, marble floored with lights in it, go right to the back and there is a restaurant, for lunch th kids had spaghetti bolognese with drink and ice cream for $5 or euros. Beautiful food and cheaper than McDonalds.
I’ve never been lucky enough to visit France, but I’ve spent enough time drooling over pictures of Parisian pastries and chocolates to know that that is what I would love most
Have a lovely day!!
French food. It can be weird, but it is always delicious.
Croissants! They are unrivaled and are just not as good here.
There is SOOO much to love about France, it’s just a stunning country with such “real” food culture and they take pride in their heritage and their artisan food which has been passed down by generations. I love how they have daily markets dotted all over the country and it’s produce is fresh, full of flavour and colour. People don’t need supermarkets!! I especially love the lay out, the attention and presentation of the wonderful food – I wish we had that in Sydney, EVERYDAY. I’m like a kid in a lolly shop, it’s gets me so excited to buy fresh baguettes, cheeses and cured meats. Aaahhh my mouth waters just thinking about it.
Hi Lorraine, unfortunately I’ve never been to France but hope to one of these days. My favourite is the Angelina patisserie (featured in the Paris episodes of Sex and the City) as all the sweets and cakes looked absolutely delicious, I think it would be my first stop. Fauchon products looks so pretty and love the name of the tea, how could you not be happy drinking tea and eating chocolate
will be sure to visit the store next time I’m in Melbourne.
When I first went to France when I was twelve, I was introduced to pate, it was a revelation that I enjoy to this day! The food is just dreamy, the fresh bread baked three times a day, you just can’t get that in Canberra! Add in some of their cheese and wine, and France is a place that foodie dreams are made of
I love the patisseries, especially Laundree!!!
The pastries I think! You’d just want to try each and every one of them.
I loved the little old town squares that would have markets each day to sell their fresh produce – I ate sooo well while we were there! Hand made cheese, fresh baked bread and cured meats to die for!
The experience of visiting France first hand, and looking up upon and Eiffel Tower was an experience like no other. The craftsmanship and the hours put into creating such a masterpiece if magnificent.
I love the beautiful scenery, romantic atmosphere & the shopping and fashion!
I absolutely love everything about Paris, but MontMarte is the best place of all! The Artists and the cafe’s are great there and you can just immerse yourself into the everyday life of the typical Parisiene. Also love the view from Scare Coeur Cathedral, looking into Paris.
I love the romance of Paris! I’d love to go up the Eiffel Tower with hubby and look out at the gorgeous view.
I love everything. The cheese, the wine, the art galleries. The shops. I could rave on for hours!
Love french sweets and tarts especially! In Paris they just taste soooo much better than anywhere else in the world!
The LOVE france has to offer! There is so much Love all around the place =)
A fresh financier — crispy on the outside, and beautifuly moist on the inside . Beats a big aussie friand any day!
I’m learning French at Alliance Francaise so I can understand more when I visit France again. I love the smell of bread baking at the Boulangerie just down the rue from the apartment rented to experience the ‘true France’. I love the smell of roasting chickens, and hearing music drifting out from an open window. Le Bon Marche – tres magnifique. Local producers markets set up under the railway lines. Fresh raspberries. The flower stalls all over France. What’s not to love?
Forgot to say French butter is the best in the world. And the cheese.
Loches in the Loire valley has to be my best thing about France. I grew up in the UK and my Dad had friends there who we visited at least twice a year…mmm fresh artichoke dipped in melted garlic butter. Just love it.
I reckon that the French are born with a ‘Finesse’ gene that stands them apart from other nationalities.
Be it in their Food,Wine, Fashion, Architecture, whatever they do it is done with Finesse!
As a bonus they gave us Champagne, I Love Bubbles!
French macarons. Enough said.
All of France offers wonders to see; with particularly spectacular scenery. Cities, towns and countryside – so many places to be, to enjoy fine food and contemplate history! Cannes’t wait to visit!
Everything! But mostly the chocolate shops and cafes…
I’m a Francophile and I haven’t even been!! But I just love love love French food – it’s so delicate and subtle – especially about all it’s hidden fat. It’s true that everything tastes better with butter
But I don’t care – that’s what I love about French food. It’s just so yum – and not just the haute cuisine, but the homely dishes from the countryside. Coq au vin is a favourite of course.
Eep – just testing whether my comment went into spam!
Naked people! Sadly most of them are wrinkly old men but naked they are! Love that many French are comfortable in their own skin.
I love the food and atmosphere in france, and that my first visit there was with my best friend!
I love everything, but particularly the food, the wine, and the accent!
The gorgeous shops, especially the fabulous department stores.
The great food – croissants and foie gras on the top of my list!
Paris, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways … Easing a still-warm croissant out of its paper sheath, being careful not to crush its delicate pastry shell, holding it to your nose on a foggy winter’s morning on Rue de Rivoli, breathing in the heavenly butter aroma, and losing yourself in its warm pillowy layers. Or winding your way through the markets and easels that fill Montmartre on a sunny summer afternoon, letting the lemon and sugar sauce from your crepe dribble down your wrist as you lift it towards you for another succulent bite. Or wandering down cobbled alleyways as night descends over the city, watching the Eiffel Tower sizzle into life, its bright lights sparkling and winking at you from a distance. You smile and squeeze your lover’s hand in yours. Paris, the city of love and light.
Back again
I really want some Fauchon because I can’t go to Paris anytime soon need to save up first ~
French movies. So romantic!
Croissants ’cause they are so yummy!
Moules and Frites! 10 euro at the BEST french restaurants where only the locals go!
I love the history, the food and the people! It was like walking the streets of my childhood imagination expecting to see the hunch back at any time.
The France Lonely Planet Guide is one of the most well read books in our house, and we havent even been yet! We are constantly in planning for my 40th birthday (5 years to go) where we plan to take 8-12 months off of work and rent an apartment in France and base ourselves there submerged in the culture…. and FOOD!
Winning these Fauchon caramels might help me make it through until I can walk through the door of the shop myself!
I love my french pastries!
I love the canals and I especially would love to travel on the canal du midi. It’s a dream of mine and have that in mind when I visit Francce again. Just having a picnic made from local produce that was picked up on the way and drinking wine and by evening having a warm hot chocolate just seems magical to me. The beautiful scenery and landscapes as you pass by, waving at the locals or just taking in the fresh air. To me that is simply blissful.
I love everything about France, I love walking around Paris and feeling the warmth of the buildings around you- although it is such a busy city the colour of the sandstone buildings and the cobbled streets just ooze calmness and magic and make you feel like you belong there. I love the fact that the french do everything with panache and everything is so beautiful. This cant be replicated – i could go on for ever….
The delicious and tasty croissant. So perfect. I have never been to France but hope to eat my weight in croissants when I do.
I’ve never been to Paris before but I always imagining myself sitting infront of this tiny chic-looking local cafe with my favourite hot chocolate accompanied with their most famous pastry while watching the eiffel tower from there. Wouldn’t it be nice.
Paris – because there is just so much to see and do and it’s all beautiful!
I love the elegance of France, but moreso the memories of the best crepes (complete with nutella) I’ve ever eaten!!!
I’ve never been to France, but I can only imagine how amazing all the quaint patisseries would be. Filled with so many beautiful things to try. I’d be the size of a house on my return I’m sure, but it’s be worth it. I’d sure love to be able to try a little bit of France from Fauchon.
France was never on top of my list of must visit, however, I had the chance to include it as an addition to my European River Cruise and I am so glad that I did!
I expected Paris to be dirty & the people to be arrogant, but this couldn’t be further from the truth! Paris shines under daily washes…..yes they wash the city of Paris daily, their statues have NO PIGEON POO! the buildings are AMAZING ‘tres Belle’ the people friendly and helpful and congratulated me on my woeful High School french!
I loved doing the tourist thing and texted my daughter atop the Eiffel tower, and enjoyed a very bad meal with the fabulous bulesque dancers at the Moulin Rouge.
I was quite young when I went to Paris, but I remember how wonderful the bread and pastries were. I have always loved people watching and I remember sitting at several cafes eating fresh bread and being transfixed with the sheer elegance of the people.
How wonderful to know about an Australian stockist!
Im heading to Paris in September with my husband and cant wait, we have been married for 5 years and we deeply in love so it is perfect to visit the city of love together. I will know then what I love about Paris. These boxed items look adorable..
What I love about Paris is even though there are amazing patissieries with gorgeous desserts and a cuisine that that can be complext and challenging, the French also know about high quality produce combined in simple and delicious ways.
So even though I have sweet tooth, and piece of exquisitely crafted chocolate dessert I ate after climing ALL 668 STEPS OF THE EIFFEL TOWER was amazing, my favourite food memory from France is a ham and cheese sandwich.
Not just any ham and cheese sandwich – a crust baguette with a soft yet chewy inside. Salty delicious ham, a cheese with the right amount of bite to compliment the ham and butter so creamy and delicious I thought it was mayonnaise. Oh – I still think about that sandwich three years later, and I love Paris so much I’m going back so I can play in the snow under the Eiffel Tower on my 30th birthday
PS – If the winner isn’t so fond of pink and wants to share that GORGEOUS (empty) shiny pink heart tin with me I’d be ever so grateful
Oh entremets how I love thee! If I ever go to France, I will probably gain 5kg solely from the amounts of cakes I will eat.
I love France and have been many times to Paris, the most amazing part for me though was driving through the countryside with my husband to find his great grandfathers grave site at one of the Commonwealth Cemeteries. We were both moved to tears by the sacrifice he and others made. We left a Australian coin tucked in at the base of his headstone to let him know we had been to visit and to let him know he hasn’t been forgotten. France will always hold a very special place in our hearts and not just for the food or scenery.
OK, I can give yu a long story about why i love Frace but honestly I WOULD LOVE TO WIN THE PRICE – VIV LE FRANCE!
I love the architecture, multi cultural-ism, smells, the wealth, the poverty, the crepes, pommes frites, the challenges and the language….xxx
In the old days, Paris was wonderful: the artists along the left bank and the artists inside the Louvre, who knew the Mona Lisa was that small?
How amazing coming up to the Arc de Triomphe and not realising you were there. In those days you could climb all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower, I am SO glad I did it back then ‘cos my knees wouldn’t be able to cope now.
Now you can relive the Da Vinci code, and peer into the pyramid in front of the Louvre and wonder if any of it is true.
But wait a moment,s’il vous plaît, every part of France is waiting for you to explore with it’s own breads and wines, a culinary delight everywhere you go.
Love, love, love Fauchon. Hope there is an online store. I was having a carremenchoc for lunch (as you do) and found myself and two girlfriends bwing interviewed about Fauchon for South Korean tv. I’m sure there was chocolate to be seen somewhere on my face.
I love the French food culture, its restrained way of appreciating food as well as well as the way French celebrate each meal. I have read many books about the French approach to dieting (or rather ‘non-dieting’) and using moderation as a solution for current obesity issues. I do my best to implement these ideas into my daily life, eg. eating mindfully or enjoying chocolate and other desserts in small doses. I think this is a healthy approach to eating and living in general. This philosophy has enhanced my life and happiness.
Sadly, I have yet to visit Paris but I know exactly what I will love most: the food!! My fantasy involves lingering over cafe au lait and flaky croissants before moving onto a leisurely afternoon at that day’s open air food market. Perhaps I will have time to squeeze in some of the sights as well
but it’s the food that is calling my name!!
simple red wine, paris and coq au vin.
I love the french way of enjoying life- you can sit in a cafe people watching for hours, the local markets are amazing and a meeting place for all the locals, the pastries and bread are never ending and you can get lost in all the little laneways.
The food is never ending – croissants, cheese, macarons, crepes and cakes – it’s all soo good!
My favourite movie is the french film ‘Amelie’. The french definately know how to make beautiful, sexy films.
What do I love about France?! What DON’T I love… I have been learning the beautiful language for a year now and am in love with it. French pastries, French food, french wine, french architecture, French culture… it’s all amazing. I envision myself retiring in the south of France and living happily ever after.
Back again because I really want some chocolate ~
It would have to be croissants
The yummy pastries!!
It’s not just the atmosphere, the culture and the style, – it is the approach that the French have to life. The reason that everyone loves the food is that the French are completely and utterly devoted to the appreciation of food in all its forms. When you go into le boucher or le boulanger you join the line and wait patiently while the customers in front receive undivided attention while making their selections and the reason that you wait is because you know when it is your turn, you too will receive the same attention while making your considered and delicate decisions over your choice of food. The devotion to presentation is equally impressive as is the way one must take one’s purchases to the madame at the cashier as the server avoids handling food and money with the same hands (especially in establishments like Poilâne, Ladurée, Barthélémy Fromage and Fauchon.) There is a genuine love and respect for food in that country which, when coupled with the incredible attention to detail and style, adds up to one total culinary and cultural experience that is très magnifique!
I haven’t had the oportunity to go yet but it is a dream of mine and I’m sure I would love absolutely everything especially the food, sights and fashion.
You cant beat freshly made puff pastry in France, especially early in the morning.
The wine and gourmet cheese, not to mention the delicious pastries. What a great country for a sweet tooth!
Where do I start? Having a French father does mean I’m a tad biased but if I was to pick the best bits….I love the sunny and carefree feeling of the southern coast, enjoying long lazy lunches with my family overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean sea in Saint Tropez (whilst enviously checking out the luxurious yachts), I love Paris in the Spring time with her green lush tree lined boulevards and the fast paced fashionable attitudes of her residents, and I love the magnificent beauty of my uncles home in the Alps with breathtaking snow-capped mountains. As for their cuisine, what’s not to love….I love it all! Duck l’orange, foie gras, cheeses, wines and need I go on? On a side note, I do miss croissants now I’m gluten free
I’ve never been to France, but I do have a soft spot for French Chamagne, and it looks like a pretty country to visit
I was last in France in my 20s, 2 decades ago. I was travelling solo, driving in a little Peugeot. I would spot a village on a distant hillside and leave the highway to wind my way up and explore. I had a bottle of red wine, a jar of strawberry jam and half a baguette rolling around in the back seat. When something went wrong with my credit card, I had to sleep in that tiny car for a chilly night before desperately looking up some friends of friends – Aussies doing up a small Chateau in the Loire Valley. As a result of fiscal turbulence (the card came good after a few days – French banking computer systems!)I spent the most memorable weekend of my life in the countryside, riding horses, attending impromptu dinner parties with locals where they cooked Frogs Legs in my honour. I love France and when I think of France I always remember that magic, unplanned detour.
My husband and I have only ever been overseas the once. It was this time last year. We decided we wanted to spend most of our time in France. We didn’t book any accommodation, we just hired a car and drove wherever the mood and scenery took us. Chamonix-Mt Blanc was a place we drove back to time and time again. The alps are like nothing we have here in Australia. Stunning. It was there I discovered raclette, chestnut puree and Orangina. I’m now seriously addicted to all three.
I have not been lucky enough but perhaps some Fauchon would transport me there if just for a little while.
Patisseries! I love just walking around Paris and discovering little bakeries, patisseries and chocolate shops, they all look so amazing and delicious!
Patisseries are a must in France. It’s like being a kid in a candy shop. You just want to try each and every creation!
Patisseries and desserts. Swoon. If I ever visit, I don’t know if I would be able to resist trying everything in sight.
I’ve never been to France
The closest thing I got to was a spectacular French grocer in Auckland though – it was a massive warehouse that got turned into a grocery store selling gourmet French goodies, as well as a French bistro (best croque monsieur I ever had), a cafe (best tart au citron I ever had)and a liquor store that specialised in French wine
. They also have a Farmers’ markets outside on the weekends so well worth a visit if you are in Auckland.
So what do I love about France? The food definitely. But also how they put it together. I love the attention to detail (like how perfect the surface of the tart au citron is), and the effort into making the packaging of their food look gorgeous (I love these pink tins!)
I have never been to France, not through lack of desire though. What I love about France is that it encompases everything I love – the food, the wine, the language, BUT most importantly it’s where my maternal Grandmother came from. She passed away 47 years ago when I was 6 and I still tear up when I talk about her!
The pastries because I think there is nothing more authentic than the pastries you can get in a pattisserie in France. It’s a must-try!
i’ve only been to france once and i’ve always wished i could have stayed longer, everything is just so beautiful and refined there
The soft cheese and the amazing bread – how come we cant produce bagettes like the French??
I love the markets with all their wonderfully fresh produce and their all round appreciation of good food and wine. The easy going way of life where nothing is hurried, plus of course the beautiful clothing the french women wear. They ooze class in every way!
Whenever I travel to France I always pack a champagne opener and a pate knife so I am prepared for those wonderful French markets found in every village. I eat, drink and laugh with the locals using my appalling French. C’est tres belle!
Unfortunately I haven’t been to France. When I was a little girl and other little girls were planning their weddings, I was planning my travelling adventures. Paris always has been my number one dream vacation spot. Oh the romance, the art, the beauty. I haven’t been yet, but one day I’ll get there, I’m sure of it.
OK, I’m going to go with Olivier Martinez, because Kylie did for so long, so he must be sort of good (other than being insanely hot). LOL.
The French Pastries! There’s just so much variety that you just want to try them all.
Back again I ve had a horrible week so really hope I win some chocolates hehe
eiffel tower! i loved my tour in france while it lasted!!
I also love french pastries- yum!!
Still pastries. Who wouldn’t love pastries?
I love the beautiful French scenery
The French allure is strong, always have a magnetic pull to romantic beauty. I’ve never been there geographically, but in my heart, I’m always IN LOVE and thinking french thoughts. xxx
The pastries because there is just so much variety to choose from!
The thing I love most about France is the people-their sly sense of humour, generosity in friendship, cooking skills and an eye for beauty that cannot be matched.
i love the fashion in paris !
F~antastic fashion!
R~omantic literature
A~rc de triomphe
N~apoleon
C~uisine to die for!

J’adore la France!
French fashion, Chanel, Dior, and Givenchy are Haute couture that have become my wardrobe de luxes
It’s still the pastries!!
Hot, crispy croissants filled with ham and melted cheese. Oo la la!
I love the eligance of France and the boutiques. I love how the people eat small portions to keep slim but still enjoy food.
I love the fashion! It’s so simple, but well put together!
Mmmmmm… Definitely still the pastries.
I love French champagne, bubbly and yummy!
Had a really bad high tea yesterday
so I’d really like some nice chocolates hehe so greedy
France, my wife’s dream holiday destination, and to say how much we love her for making us a family, this prize would be the ultimate gift.
I proposed to her in Paris we were only there two nights but loved the people and nightlife have not told her Paris honeymoon
Pastries. Yum! How can you go to France without trying the pastries?
france and paris spark the creation for some of the best love movies ever made
Everything French is pregnant with romamce and promise.
love the culture and the atmosphere!
Croissants for sure!!!!
Hot Nutella crepes. I ate them everyday in France.
I just love Paris – when I was lucky enough to travel there 6 years ago I bought my daughter the EXACT pink heart tin of Fauchon chocolates in the photo above – I had never seen it before – or since – until today. It’s a sign! Divine!
I have some serious chocolate cravings today lol wonder if it’s because I’ve been really good and haven’t had any sweets today can you believe that! Actually wait… i did have some left over anzac cookies hehe
Pastries! They are divine.
All this talk of Paris is getting to my husband as he has not saved up enough he’s told me, several times today… lol… but one day he say, we’ll see. Until then I’ll continue to enjoy Croissants…
French pastries, yum!
I love the romantic appeal of Paris! I’ve never been, so this is purely from written literature and movies. I hope I’m right!
I love french champagne- full of bubbly deliciousness
I adore the elegant feel France has. The gorgeous destinations, the simply stunning atmosphere, the tasty pasteries and, of course, the beautiful language. Oh, and their music is lovely! It’s a country that just has that charm. It’s culture makes it so apppealing.
french pastries !!
French Rugby Players!!
A late-night stroll along the Champs Elysees in the Christmas snow and lights, browsing through the Christmas markets, followed a few days later by an organised tour of the top chocolatiers and pastry shops. Absolute Heaven!
I miss Paris…really hoping that I get the chance to go back soon ~
I loved the pastries in Paris!
i love the architecture in france!
their beautiful food especially their pastries
Brioche, eclairs, macarons, amandines, meringues, baba au rhum, croissants, palmiers, crepes and creme brulee…what’s not to love about France?
unfortunately I have never had the privilege of going to France. I would love to taste French food because if heard it is much better from France itself.
The delectable pastries!
The pastries are yummy, can’t decide between them and the champagne- but I think the delicious pastries win for today.
croissants and pastries, and choc and things food. Not to mention having afternoon naps and then indulging all over again and with some cultural stops in between to the museums and the general feeling of love in the AIR ! Oui Oui…
I love the pastries! They’re so rich and indulgent!
I’ve never been to France, but flown over it. I’d love a reason to touchdown next time.
A baguette, soft melty brie, a bottle of red wine and sitting underneath the Eiffel Tower to enjoy was heavenly!
Pastries and now that I’ve read some of the comments, maybe a good crusty bread and soft cheese as well…
The pastries are very yummy, I would love one right now!
Everything-the mystery, romance, beauty, architecture ,thecshops and the food and especiallybthe view from thevtopmof the Eiffel tower
First day at work
I survived ~ YAY i think i deserve some Fauchon chocolates hehe
i loved the view from the eiffel tower! and the night cruises!
I love the french champagne- yummy
The pastries! They’re so heavenly!
well my favourite part of france would defently be the gourgus food, i am a passionate male cook and i have been to france for a cooking trip and it was the best time of my life. so france is a big inspiration in my cooking
I’m still a big fan of the pastries. Delicious!
i love the cafes in france along the roads, but i definitely didn’t enjoy the traffic while i was there haha
I know I should be saying something like the view from the Effiel Tower in Paris at night, or the breathtaking scenery of Nice. But honestly the thing that I love the most about France is the bakeries
I’m a fatty at heart what can I say! I don’t know what it is that they do differently but their pastries and bread are AMAZING! And sooo addictive!
France is class and indulgence ……….. with fine food to awaken your senses preparing you for a memorable cultural experience !!!!
French arrogance…..I married an arrogant Aussie but dated a couple of French guys who proved the theory.
I’ve never been to France, but the things that inspire me to visit are their food markets, 1kilo of strawberries for 3 euros? Me me me!
There is such a rich sense of preservation, their lifestyles are steeped in culture which is beautiful and fascinating.
And for whatever reason, the sound of an accordion always makes me picture a man in black and white stripes, painting the scenery of a canal lush with greenery as fishermen boat’s are tied up to the dock. Lovely!
So many things-croissants, their wine and romantic language but my greatest passion is their films. They ooze artistry.
I survived the second day hehe but I’d really like some chocolates
The escargots…I tried them while I was in France and they were actually really nice! Thanks for another awesome giveaway!
I haven’t been to France yet but i cant wait until I go there someday. However, from what I have seen and read about France, I absolutely adore French architecture and fashion, and the landscape looks beautiful.
Like most other people who have posted on here, I love croissants too!
I love the champagne!
Pastries! I just love these tasty creations. I’m craving some now!
Croissants! From dessert ones like chocolate, to the savoury type. Ham and cheese croissants are perfect!
The first thing I’d do if I ever travel to Paris will be to stuff my face with all the delicious pastries!
I can walk for half a day across Paris and not even notice how tired I am. My senses could not be more alive!
I love French champagne, yum!
Still love the pastries!
Me really want Chocolates!
Pastries are the best!
I’m bored lol I want chocolate
the streets are gorgeous! i loved walking everywhere in france!
I love French champagne because it’s yummy!
I’m doing the Live Below The Line Challenge tomorrow so today is the last day I’m going to be able to indulge
so really would like to win some chocolate so i can eat them after the challenge hehe
Frnch champagne, because it’s yummy!
I love the attitude of many French people – they do not really care what others think.
I love that the French eat anything they want, no matter how fattening, and do not bother to count calories the way we Australians do, they just have smaller portions.
I love the fact that my ancestors chose Nice to settle and live in after being ousted from their home land.
I love my pastries! Can’t get enough.
The first thing I’d do if I ever travel to Paris will be to stuff my face with all the delicious pastries!
I’m doing the Below The Line challenge today so really want to win some chocolates hehe Thanks Lorraine
The champagne is the best because it’s bubbly and delicious!
i love being able to enjoy a delicious pastry in an outdoor cafe and admiring absolutely everything around me
Pastries because not only do they look amazing, they taste even better!
I survived the challenge woo hoo! Really want chocolate now hehe
I love Soufflé à la Pistache baked in a gorgeous souffle copper pot.
Love the beautiful green colour of the soufflé that comes naturally from the pistachio, and the divine nutty flavour against the (slight) sweetness of the Soufflé.
And importantly, there’s just something so breath-taking about the dainty little Soufflé copper pot – love the bronze colour, it someone just matches the green of the Soufflé so perfectly
I love French champagne because it’s bubbly and delicious!
I haven’t been to lucky to visit france, but currently I have a french workmate and his cooking is devine… I love his french habit of replacing flour in sweet recipes with ground nuts (ie in things like chocolate cakes) to make them a special treat.
I just love French champagne- full of bubbly goodness
I’ve never been to Paris (or anywhere OS, sadly), but I love the way it is partitioned into quarters, each with its own personality. One day, one day…
I love the pastries because they are one of the ultimate, ingenious creations. The variety, taste and presentation just makes pastries so tempting!
I was thinking of you a moment ago, ostensibly in France, possibly in Paris. As a result I took the time to read the beautiful dreams of 292 of your readers in the process including a couple of friends I did not know read your column
! Champagne, croissants, all other food and love seem to be the dominant feelings . . . I’d like to add one more word today: STYLE, meaning this quite generally. Not only is there style in food, but very much in dress and taste and behaviour. The French, from whatever part of society, do have that ‘je ne sais quoi’ assuredness that somehow sets them apart from most of us other mortals . . .
I love champagne- full of bubbly deliciousness!
Pastries! They never disappoint!
Chocolate eclairs – say no more! Well I must say more because chocolate, fresh cream and the softest pastry and all and they come from France.
I love just ‘Being’ in Paris. I rented an apartment on my third trip, for a month just to experience life in one of the boho districts.i love doing what the french do best, people watch! This is what I observed:
The Parisian sun is at it’s fullest.
Two souls stationary and absorbed in retracing the nostalgic charm of Ernest Hemingway sit at an envied cafe table positioned in the bustling heart of Montmartre.
Surrounded by a blend of patrons, french accordian and festive vibe, the moment seems perfect.
I look to him, a black bowler hat on, which suits him perfectly (he reminds me of someone I went to school with) holding his prized camera.
His lover reclines back, relaxed in her chair, scarf around her neck and Ernest Hemingway book in her pale hands.
She smiles, pretends to be reading, and giggles with him, posing naturally as if no one else exists.
They are in their own world.
They are in love.
They dreamt of this -to absorb themselves in the romanticism and coolness of Paris, the old and the new entwined.
Really sleepy would really like some butter caramel
I love French champagne because it’s delicious and bubbly!
Apart from the food, I love the fashion in France. In particular, I have an obsession with bows and the French seem to share this. Not sure if they invented those cute little bows on ballerina flats but the French girls were sure into them when I was there! They have bows on hats, tops, skirts, scarfs…Not to mention they tie ribbons into bows to wrap almost anything – from boxes containing the most gorgeous pastry or cake to the Fauchon candy tin which I still keep to this day. These gorgeous pink Fauchon tins will make a nice addition to my collection
Methinks, lady, you should close the books! Who on earth could ‘beat’ Njari? Oui, d’accord :0 !
The food and wine culture!! Café au lait’s – the perfect morning pick me up. Complimented by a Croissant of course which taste differently from those in other countries!!Perhaps a Croque-monsieur to follow for lunch…now I know why “French Women Don’t Get Fat”. Awwww top it off with a Chariot de fromage the most extensive cheese selection in the planet. Paris is the place for all senses…taste and smell especially! Having dessert in a French restaurant is a reason to visit this country. Creme Brulee…exquisite!! Don’t forget a bottle of good quality French bubbly followed by a warm relaxing aromatherapy bath back at your luxury hotel!
Pretty much everything – the gorgeous streets (especially in Montmartre, Paris), the fashionable locals, the seaside and the food. But most of all the gorgeous chocolate shops with their oh so scrummy treats – because they are amazingly delicious, like no other chocolates I’ve found and while you enjoy that one small treat you can feel like you are part of the lovely, sophisticated country, if only for a moment!
Frnch champagne is the best! Bubbly and yummy
I’ve only been at work for an hour or so and yet I’m so hungry
I think some chocolates would be nice hehe
Pastries! I love them for their variety and creativity. What lovely and yummy creations!
The food! Yum!
I love the culture, the way of life, the beauty & having plenty to do while doing nothing great
FOOOOOD!
I love that it’s perfectly acceptable to drink hot chocolate for breakfast and wine with lunch. I love the va va va voom and the ooh la la and the certain je ne sais quoi that makes France both haughty and jaunty
I love the French champagne- bubbly and wonderful!
I’ve sadly never been to France but I’m sure if I had the chance, my first stop after arriving would be a visit to a gorgeous patisserie or two or three..hee.hee.hee. Gotta love French pastries. You can eat them for breakfast dinner or tea you see. YUM!
France takes the lead in clothing and fashion, but cheese is their ‘all consuming’ passion.Chaumes, Brie, Camembert… other cheeses can’t compare
Caramel is so much better tasting than chocolate, just got to Argentina to confirm this detail. Theres’s caramel everything and it tastes so good. I have been converted and a true fan.
What don’t I love about France… I love everything!!
The set meals in restaurants – always good value & usually local specialities.
I love the way the french eat. Every meal is enjoyable and an experience. Never a quick bite of something taken on the run. But something done slowly and luxuriate over.
Pastries are one of the best things ever created. There’s also so much variety to choose from. Perfect with a cup of tea!
I love the French language, the way the mouth purses when you say “Bon jour”.
Gritty writers and artist sanctuary of the early 1900′s, exotic existentialist, little black dress, je ne pas, eat the mood cafes!
I love their champagne- totally French and fabulous!!
I love the ambience
Oooh la la
The cuisene, the sights
I wish it wasnt so far
They have given us so much,
Think of your french stick lunch!
Brie with crackers for a treat,
Or Red wine infused meat!
I have never been to France. I go by what I have seen in movies. I would love to stand atop of the Eiffel Tower with my husband. And come back down and have a picnic with all of their yummy pastries. France seems to be the place for romance.
I love the beautiful scenery in France, it’s so romantic & pretty
I love the pastries! They are an absolute delight to eat!
the food, the thought of drinking wine, fresh bread and cheese in view of the eiffel tower
I have never been, but I do love the accent, foods and pastries and the whole romantic vibe.
I’m yet to visit France (definitely on the to-do list!) but I imagine when I get there it will be the pastries
I love the accent
It’s so hot
I love France because it’s majestic and the food makes me feel like I’m home…
I love France, the food, the people the scenery, everything
I love everything – the gorgeous streets (especially in Montmartre, Paris), the fashions on the streets, the seaside and the amazing food. But most of all the gorgeous chocolate shops with their oh so scrummy treats – because they are amazingly delicious, like no other chocolates I’ve found and while you enjoy that one small treat you can feel like you are part of the lovely, sophisticated country, if only for a moment!
French food, fashion and joy de vive-I wish I could eat, wear and live it everyday.
Perfect in which to court-Paris and love-such Rapport.
I love France because that is where my husband is from!
I love their passion for food and wine. They turn our basic need to nourish and water ourselves into a refined artform. Bless the French!
OK, Lorraine: this or my previous entries are not for me this time around: were I to win the magic of Fauchon, I would like it to go to #125 Rebecca Baker: one of the loveliest of women, a great wife and the mother [out of two marriages] of five children, who, perchance has not quite made it to Paris but more than understands love! Oh: I have said food and style – but the ‘Tour de France’ I’ll ‘attend’ for the 9th time just a month away should surely be a good entry-point! Pretty please with sugar on top?!
THe Romanticism of the city – thre’s no way that you can not be inspired by the love that’s in the air. Amour, je t’aime!
The cafes & bistros – a chance to relax and people watch and there is no better city in the world where to do that
I’ve yet to find anything I DON’T love about France, even the much touted rudeness. Got to love it. Truffles is still on my bucket list though.
Pastries because they are so delectably awesome!
I love the fact the French invented my favourite drink Cointreau! Perfect to have neat or incorporate in my cooking, I thank them for it numerous times a week!
I love the Oooh AND the la la!
The men and that accent (do I really need to explain why!!)
I loved the ‘cliches’: people with baugettes sticking out of their shopping baskets; the stunning elegance of the Parisian people, especially the women- they looked like models from magazines; beautifully dressed children pushing little boats in the fountain of the Luxembourg gardens; visiting the breathtaking Louvre (my friend and I ran back and forth, crossing paths in front of the Mona Lisa giggling “She’s looking at me!” “NO she’s looking at ME!”and of course…the food-I enjoyed the most delicious meal of my life (including proper french fries)in a ‘leetle bistro’ on the Champs Élysée. I want to go back! With my husband this time!
French men… ooh lala
Paris reminds me of romance and beautiful food, scenery and those gorgeous accents.
I love their culturally enriched arts industry. Their films are amazing, their artworks and actors are superb, and their embellished language makes it all the more enjoyable!
The street vendors selling crepes with the chocolate and hazelnut sauce – devine
I had the best falafels in Paris, not quite the normal French cuisine, but very good nevetheless.
I dontknow, i’ve never been there
There’s no comPARISon
it’s LOUVRE at first bite
the fantastic food a daily delight
EIFFEL for the smell, tastes divine,
InSEINEly wanting more all the time!
Unfortunately I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting Paris. But perhaps my tastebuds could be taken on a delicious journey with a Fauchon Tea, Chocolate & Butter Caramel pack. Très magnifique!
Love to go back with my mum this time and see things again with her.
The pastries because they taste divine!
French culture is truly divine, from the cuisine to the architecture and history. I’d love to travel there one day to experience this unique country, and visit the most romantic city in the world, Paris!
Champagne, cheese, croissants, … what’s not to love about Paris?!
I love how the Eiffel Tower lights up and sparkles at night.
Unfortunately, I’ve never been to France but I have tasted croissants….and they’re delicious!
France is my dream destination so romantic and full of untouched history
My daughter has learning French at school for 4 years now and loving it, she plans to travel there when she finishes school, she loves the language, I would love for her to experience something more of France.
Oh la la! Food and wine is a marriage made in France
I have never been to France but my older brothers name is Paris….so its destined that one day i will walk to streets of Paris and sit in cafes drinking delicious coffee. Ahh to dream
I have never been to Paris nor do I think I ever will, and not that I wouldn’t want to. I have a great fear of flying. So I will keep my feet on the ground and look at all the pics of Paris on the web of everyone else enjoying the beautiful scenery and talking about the great food they have. I do cook a lot of french food at home. So maybe I will win a little piece of Paris
Food, wine, fashion, style, class, sexy, exotic, accent – I could go on and on.
I really love the French language, it just rolls off you tongue.
can feel the flaviours teasing my tongue
