The lovely people at Pink Frosting have been readers of NQN for a while and when they contacted me recently to ask me whether I’d like to hold a competition for readers where they could win a gift voucher to spend at their store I jumped at the chance. It’s Australia’s #1 party store and has loads of cute little items that I’ve coveted for various occasions.

You can choose Halloween decorations should you want to inject a bit of spooky into your October 31st (and if you need any recipes be sure to check out last year’s Halloween party, Blood and Brain Cupcakes, Pumpkin cheesecake, Eyeball Cupcakes, Buried Alive Cupcakes or Goblin Pies)

Or if you want to host an October BCA event there’s all things pink (with a name like Pink Frosting you’d expect that!) and if you happen to need wedding bombonierre or Christening decorations they have lots of those too!

All you need to do is tell me which party you attended or held which was the most fun and why! Two lucky winners will each win a $100 gift voucher from Pink Frosting which you can spend on whatever you want. Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at Midnight on the 24th of October, 2009. You can enter this once daily. This competition is open to Australian residents only.
Best of luck!
Love,
Lorraine

My 24th birthday was my most memorable party. I was cooking cupcakes in the kitchen before the guests arrived when my now husband propposed to me. It became a makeshift engagement celebration.
What a lovely shop!
The best party that l have been too would have to be for one day where for one more day the adults got to be kids again, we had so much fun. Everyone was relaxed and didn’t have a care in the world, just like kids!. We had the good old three legged race, egg and spoon race, bob for an apple all the old favorites oh and of course lolly bags to take home what else could you ask for!
Cool comp! =) Umm my best party was my Halloween party last year. It wasnt anything as good as urs but I made the goblin pies and eyeball cupcakes and they were a hit. Cant wait for this years-ur doing one right? Please say yes!
What lovely things to choose from! Thanks Lorraine and Pink Frosting for a chance at a voucher!
My Wedding is the best and most fun party I’ve been to. Great food, company and the most important part – such a special occasion of joining two lives.
A few years ago I went to a really good NYE party which particularly stands out for me.
Brilliant prize Lorraine, how exciting!
My most fun party was one I threw myself before leaving to spend 6 months away last year. It was my first “solo” party after splitting from my boyfriend and I was totally blown away by how many of my fabulous friends turned up. My house was packed! I of course spent most of the time in the kitchen tending food but the kitchen was always packed with friends so this did not hinder my socialising at all. To top it all off, only one glass was broken and that was by me when I was doing the dishes after the last stragglers had gone home.
One party that is the best,
Was the Millennium NYE party in Whistler, B.C.
Loud music and drinks all round,
Not a sad soul to be found!
Countdown to midnight was a ball,
With my husband we rocked the hall!
Merry, merry as can be,
The photos you have got to see!

wow, the first picture is so adorable.
My best party was my fairwell party before I came to Australia 2 years ago.. They surprised me by one friend told me she wanna have quick dinner then took me to the restaurant and after we arrived, I suddenly saw all my colleagues and boss (about 20 people) and some of close friends… and they decorated the tree with the pictures of each of them and I (like duo)… such a wonderful people
Love those goblin pies! So cute!
My awesome party was my 30th- I was happily single, and partied like it was 1999- it was actually 2003 but it was 80s themed
Me – Gold lame cling tight trousers, gold face, hubby -gold hair & lame top for Fancy dress party. Got there – theme cancelled – but we starred!
My 50th wedding anniversary, I didn’t think I would make it that far, but still in love. “WOW” hope there are more years yet.
A comics-obsessed friend had a birthday party a few years ago that sticks out for me. It was fancy dress, with a superhero theme, but we weren’t allowed to come as Superman etc: we had to make up our own! Complete with costume, superpowers, alter ego and back story.
I can’t quite remember exactly what my superhero was, but my ’superhero-mobile’ was a fold up scooter.
Thanks for this opportunity,
My most memorable party was my daughters 18th. Though it was her last it was nothing but filled with laughter and love
oh for sure my fav party was my very first Bastille day. I made everyone dress up with a french theme, and my favourite by far was a pair of french designer shoes (croissants stuck to a pair of high heels….just gorgeous!)
my favourite would be our house warming party- lots of friends and family who all brought along food to share. What could make a better party other than good company, wonderful homemade food and such beautiful warm wishes for my husband and I.
when my lovely husband divorced his first wife the champayne flowed and we through a lovely party xxx
Went to a friends 30th which was a picnic/tea party that was alice in wonderland themed. It was wonderful… lots of mismatched plates, cupcakes, alcoholic punch and every kind of picnic food imaginable!
My husband’s 50th birthday party. Rock ‘n roll, popcorn, wide skirts, bobby socks. Such a lovely reminder of when we grew up.
Ohhh I love the Pink Frosting website!! I’m going to be getting a lot of my wedding things from there (parasols etc).
How can I choose just one favourite party? I guess our recent engagement party has been the best! It was a casual drinks & dancing affair with all our great family & friends – and the night ended at a gay bar with us dancing on podiums…
I loved my Wedding reception. Everyone got up to dance to the Nutbush and we had such a relaxing time. Nothing beats time with family and buddies!
PS Love the website!
hi lorraine
my best party was definitely my 18th birthday, my fds organised a surprise birthday party for me at karaoke and bought me 18 egg tarts, putting it in the shape of a 1 and a 8. they also bought me 18 wish jars with a message inside each of them. it is the best party ive had by far.
We held a pirate party for 18 six year old boys yesterday for my eldest son’s sixth birthday.. I’m still debating as to whether it was fun or not for me (chaos and VERY hard work), but it was a really old fashioned kids party – which are rarer and rarer these days (sadly) and people were most surprised that I’d made all the food myself, including a treasure island birthday cake where he had to dig up the treasure!! The kids LOVED it though – proof you don’t need to pay for kids to be entertained!
What a fun giveaway. I can imagine using all these things for a spooky party! Count me out though – not an Australian resident.
I had so much fun holding a Thanksgiving party last November – tracked down all those American foods I’ve always wanted to taste-test: fried green tomatoes, buffalo wings with blue cheese dip, candied yams, greens, bourbon pie, pecan pie, and a huge, stuffed turkey – which I’ve never cooked before but was PERFECT! We had a family talent show afterwards and laughed ourselves silly =) We’re going to have a Thanksgiving picnic this year!
Actually a Halloween Party for 8 year witches – they had never seen anything like it – we had several craved pumpkins and made them bob for an apple – a little treasure hunt and hubby dressed up as a ghost and frightened them to death – really really fun.
wow very cute things
Wow!! such a pretty Pink girlie prize which I would love to win for my granddaughter Caitlyn who turns 4 on 17th Oct. She’s obsessed with ‘Pink’, pink clothes, pink hair accessories, pink shoes, pink bags ,pink cupcakes and the list goes on!
I can’t decide between my 50th birthday party which was a masked theme, I was so thrilled that 99% of my guests made the effort and were dressed up as nurses, doctors ,Marilyn Monroe,Elvis, a cheeky devil, fairies,Zorro it was too good! I was dressed all in purple as a Nymph with a custom-made mask.
The other great dress-up party was seeing in the new Millenium and everyone dressed up with a character starting with ‘M’. There were about 90 of us and even the kids loved doing the ‘Limbo dance’.It went all night and some people camped on the lawn and went home after breakfast.
BEst party ever was probably my 21st when my mum did everything! We had a cocktail party round the pool and every one dressed up and had catered food and champagne- all very civilised!
Lorraine those prizes looks pretty!
I just came across your site and my 6 yo daughter(who is my co-captain in the kitchen)have spent an hour absolutely captivated and sometimes drooling over your beautiful food and pictures. I’m dying to make the chocolate cupcakes with dagoba as we regularly make something called Paris Cupcakes here- little mini white cake with purple frosting that I flavor with essence of rose and I think the chocolate cupcakes would be the PERFECT foil for them. I love the dichotomy of your passion cooking and fashion- not everyone who loves being in the kitchen has to be frumpy and dumpy!! Thanks for the inspiration- you’ll definitely be a regular stop for me on my blog rounds!
My best party was at our house, overlooking the harbour bridge, opera house and the beautiful Sydney Harbour, It was with our closest 12 friends on New Years Eve and we partied, partied with vintage Veuve and fabulous company and fab music and fab Fireworks.
My daughter’s 18th was a mexican themed party with everyone dressing in their biggest moustaches and sombreros. With mexican food and a pinata to boot. Great time was had by all even me as most of the food was made ahead of time and the guests assembled tacos and chilli concarne themselves
The party that I have attended that was the most fun is a friend’s 40th, where the theme was movies. Everyone was allocated a character to come as (I was Elle Woods!), and it was the most fun because eit was a tremedous laugh to see everyone dressed up (they went to lots of effort). My favourites of the noight were a couple dressed as Charles (complete with huge prosthetic ears) and Camilla.
Just thought of another one, I love to organise parties. For my 21st birthday l organised an Indian themed party and every detail was had touches of india as it was a sit down indian banquet i made each guest a special cushion to sit on the floor Each one was made out of beautiful and colourful sari fabric everyone got to keep their own. I had to make 60 of them!
I also organised a belly dance to come and give everyone a dance lesson. Everyone had a ball!
Can’t wait to organise my son’s monster party.
My sister’s wedding in Seattle, US is the best party. The wedding is a combination of Chinese/Jewish/Russian and Malaysian culture, set next to the Pacific Ocean. There are people from all parts of the world attending the wedding. It reminded me on how far we have come in terms of friendship and communication.
Those prams are adorable!
I LOVE kid’s birthday parties, especially if I get to organise and cater for them! The most fun party I’ve been to… a baby shower for a friend, I’d never been to one before and it was a hoot! xxx
My second most fun party (I’ve already said my most fun) was my brothers dress up party with the theme – old world. We were dressed up as Egyptians like Cleopatra. The only thing that could have improved the party would have been themed food!!
Well my birthday is on Halloween and I’ve had been to some pretty awesome Halloween parties over the years! The best one was when my friends converted their house into a haunted house complete with cobwebs, fake blood, a coffin and a graveyard!
My favourite party this year was when my daughter was born! A simple pop of the cork and a personal party just, Dad, bub and I.
Hi Lorraine, love your site! One of the best parties that I have recently attended was a guitar hero party for one of our neighbours’ 42nd birthday! Everyone dressed up as their favourite rocker ( I just went as a rocker chick and my husband went as Freddy Mercury!). We had a lot of fun screaming out P!NK tunes and others.
P.S. love the PINK FROSTING site. I put my friend on to it for her wedding!
Probably my 21st which was a fancy dress party – everyone had to come as their favourite super hero. The costumes were fantastic!
To eat and to drink on hubbies 50th; hamburgers, hotdogs and coke and of course the salted popcorn.
Would have to say my wedding because of the great food, great people and of course marrying my now husband
Hello, Lorraine
these are so cute, too bad I’m not eligible to join the contest
My 21st was the most fun. I had been very ill and didn’t have any plans to celebrate. My mother told me to get dressed up we were going out for Sunday lunch. Sunday lunch turned out to be a surprise birthday high tea with all the girls and my aunts at The Victoria Room in Darlinghurst. We indulged all afternoon on stands of sandwiches, scones, cakes, chocolates, tea, champagne and martini’s. There was also a clairvoyant who read my palm and told me I would be healthy and well soon. She was right.
The best party I’ve been to didn’t involve lots of people, or fancy food, or magnificent dresses. It was just a small family gathering with all the relatives gathered around before we left for Australia. Why was it special? It was the last time I saw my grandfather, and I know that he was the happiest then because it was the first time all his sons’ and daughters’ families were together. His family was together, and that’s all that mattered.
Mine was my wedding in August this year. I had spent so much time planning it, picking the perfect venues do the food would be awesome, that when the day came I was able to relax safe in the knowledge that it would all be alright! Apparently I grinned like a chesire cat all day because I was just so happy! And the second best thing was that my cousin came up to me and said “You know I am not really a big fan of food but the steak that was served for main course was awesome”! Yes I converted (albeit temporarily) a non foody and married my best friend. What a day
The best party I have been to recently was one which my daughter and I gave for my other daughter – her Baby Shower – our theme was mint green and lilac, I cooked the food to match, I even made a mint green and lilac parasol (and I can’t even sew.
The party games were fantastic. We had one where various melted chocolate bars were placed in a nappy and the guests had to guess what it was. Very realistic and their faces were extremely funny.
PS: I now have a beautiful granddaughter Abellah. xx
My son’s 1st birthday party was soooo much fun. I spent the entire day before cooking up a storm, making savoury and sweet delights (talk about a cupcake overload!). The party went brilliantly, my son loved ripping open all his presents and we all played Buzz TV video game on the big screen. Loved it!!
Oh without a doubt Christmas In July!
My girlfriends and I have made a pact that every July we will meet up for a Christmas in July dinner, no matter how far apart we are or what is going on in our lives. This year was a little bit of a disaster (defrosting a turkey in tupperware in a microwave is not pretty or appetising! Nigella would never approve) but we got there and had such a fantastic night walking down nostalgia lane.
The best party is always the most recent one you’ve been to, and my last is no exception. It was my Hen’s Party, a weekend away with the girls including (1) a car fully decked out with streamers and photographs, (2) dress ups for the bride to be and the rest of the crew, (3) an Iron Chef type cooking competition where the ingredients had to be purchased from a farmers market, (4) cosmopolitans, bubbly and wine of all descriptions (5) a great soundtrack and (6) fabulous ladies to share it with me!
My wedding, which was a seven course Italian extravaganza. We ate, drank and were very merry!
My third fav party was our wedding, it rocked, it was cocktail style and a very social evening with everyone mingling, no one stuck in a particular spot with a name card.
The most fun party i’ve attended hasn’t happened yet (weird i know!) but i know it will be the most fun when it does happen (in 3 weeks time). It’s at this party where we will be announcing the news of our pregnancy to all our friends!
Best party I ever had was the night of 24/11/96 when my favourite band Crowded House played their final farewell concert on the steps of the Opera House. To sing “Don’t Dream It’s Over” together with thousands of strangers while hugging everybody around you and crying was such a unique and beautiful moment.
After the concert we continued the Crowded House tribute by sticking their cds on at home, made cocktails and sang karaoke well into the night (with more tears).
It didn’t seem like the hugest thing back then but since the death of Paul Hester (the drummer), that night is now more poignant and special because that was the last time I saw him play live.
I loved my 30th it was on Friday 13th! I was even born in the year that smashing pumpkins made a song about!

So pretty! I wish I could get myself some of those pretty polka dotted cups!
A bringing together of nations party held by a friend. each person was to bring 1 or 2 dish from their ethnic background. mine being malaysian, i decided to make pandan cakes…can you imagine the faces of everyone who didn’t know what pandan was and seeing this big green cake on the table. “um, that cake is green…why’s it green?” was the general comments for the day.
for my my daughter’s 5th birthday we had 20 all dressed up like chefs making cookies, they had a ball.
A costume party in Kings Cross at a hat themed restaurant. All the waiters and waitresses were in costume and in character to get you in the mood. Cheesey music pumping out of the speakers that everyone knew the words to. 15mins after arriving, everyone was behaving like they had been drinking all night. Declared by me, and my friends that it was the birthday party EVER.
I love Christmas parties, loads of drinks and loads of being merry! Just don’t drink to much in case you do something you will never regret as don’t forget they are still your boss and work colleges the next day. And yes! you do eventually have to go back to work!
My husband 21st birthday, yes I met him a long time ago!, and no I won’t tell you how long that is hehe, but he can barely remember it but I can. It involved alcohol (of course) and a toy doll (I don’t know where it cam from or from whom!) and stripping naked and swimming in the dam. Luck it was in the country or he probably would have been arrested for indicant exposure!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
What an awesome giveaway. My most favourite party ever has got to be my 21st. It was a grease theme and I made myself a pink poodle skirt to wear. Every single person that came dressed up and I had so much fun. It was the best birthday I have ever had! p.s. my birthday is actually the day you are drawing this 24th October.
my first child’s 1st birthday was such a milestone and soo soo cute. it is a memory that i will never forget. i have now had three other children and their 1st birthdays have all been so special to me… and so much mess!
The best party I’ve ever been to was my little brothers fire-fighter party. The kids were dressed up as fire-fighters. They were doing lots of drills like putting out fires, rescuing things and lots of getting down low and go, go, go. The kids had a great time and we made an awesome fire-engine red birthday cake.
I went to a party once where it was the 80’s theme, I got dressed up as Madonna and I looked like I had just walked out of a Material Girl music video!
I won the prize for best dressed!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
My daughter’s 1st birthday party. A 1st birthday is really more about the parents than the child, she slept through most of it, but it was fantastic to socialise again and have an excuse to eat fairy bread and chocolate crackles all day!
The best party I’ve ever been to was a ‘Survivor’ party a my friend hosted a few months ago in the local park. We were running around in bandannas, smashing eggs on each other, finding things in massive towers of whipped cream with only our mouths and her mum is a absolute cake-making genius!
Well my birthday is on Halloween and I’ve had been to some pretty awesome Halloween parties over the years! The best one was when my friends converted their house into a haunted house complete with cobwebs, fake blood, a coffin and a graveyard!
I am planning a pink and white polka dot theme for my daughters first birthday, I figure go pink she might not like it in a few years and it is incredible cute! Lucky I can get my supplies from Pink Frosting!
This year for my 12th Birthday I held a chocolate themed sleepover with 5 friends. First, when everyone arrived we headed straight to the snack table while mum hid things for the chocolate hunt. So after we had basically finished all the snacks we headed out on the chocolate hunt then played the chocolate game and hit a chocolate square shaped pinata. Then it was dinner time and after that the special triple chocolate mud cake I had made we watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In the morning we chocolate and chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Before everyone left I gave a bag filled with …….. chocolate!
This might sound a bit over the top but the girls of Year Six 09 at our school are known for being absolute chocolate lovers.
One of the oddest parties is one that my husband and I turned up to and it was not the right house! There were 2 parties on the same street on the same night and as we had never been there before we didn’t realise it was the wrong house until we walked around the back to the BBQ and everyone there looked at us with a smile but a questioning look and then we realised it was the wrong place when the host wasn’t our friend we had been invited by. Hoe embarrassing!
One of my favourite parties was I guess not even a party. It was at our school disco a few months ago. Its our last year there so it was pretty awesome and we had so much fun!
A party that will be fantastic and hasn’t happened yet is my daughters 21st in 2030!!!!! My gosh that seems so far away, but will be here before we know it! We have already got a stack of photos that she will most likely find incredibly embarrassing and I can here the moaning, oh mum! already.
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
One party that will always be remembered is the one I took my now husband to. We had only just met and had been talking on the phone, meeting in person but hadn’t shared a first kiss or anything yet, so I had a party coming up on a Saturday night which I was hesitant about as I had been told the person hosting the party had taken a shine to me, but I had no attraction to him at all!! So it was a perfect opportunity to bring my hunk a spunk along and make it clear I was taken and that night was our first kiss and now almost 13 years later we are still together and still love a good party!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
In February my best friend had a party at the local beach(or river swamp more like.) We were having a great time swimming and getting in and out of the boat and having very frequent snack breaks until a boy we know from school turned up. He and his family (extended) had decided to go to the river that day as well it was ok but then they hopped in the water then the trouble started. They started throwing mud at us and my friends being my friends decided it would be a good idea to throw it back. At the end we were all very, very muddy. One of my friends had around two kilos of mud thrown at her. We were all clean and it was time for the cake which was made of lollies it was so awesome!
So I am going to tell you about one of the most important parties that has ever happened and without this party happening I wouldn’t exsist! Yes, that is right the party where my parents met.
It was, wayyyyyy, back in the late sixties and Beatles were rocking the world. My parents attended a party with friends and to make a long story short my father stole my mothers steak that she brought (yes, it was BYO meat) and when she went to get it off the BBQ it was gone, and low and behold he was a man she had never met before eating it. Well, this charmed the socks off her, not! but it was enough for the hands of fate to bring them together and he must have done something right as six months later they were married and 3 children later they are still married 40 years going strong and he still loves a good bit of steak!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
One of my favourite children’s parties that I have been to is for a little fairy.
When we arrived there were pink paper bags with tea light candles lighting the driveway. (this was safe from children as there was a gate separating them from the children’s play area) and then we walked into the backyard which had become a enchanted fairy garden. There were lanterns up high hanging in the trees with little lights flikering and little fiary’s flying in the breeze. On arrival all children recieved a fairy skirt and a magic wand. We had fairy bread to eat and lot of other lovely fairy foods, that were in mini size, as of course fairies are very small and can hardly be seen. We also got sprinkles of fairy dust and played fairy hide and seek which meant we had to seek little fairies hidden in the garden.
It was held in the cool of the afternoon and the summer breeze blew with that warm evening air. It was just lovely and we all went home with a big fairy smile.
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
The best party I have ever been to was a friend’s 21st at her beautiful house in Sydney’s north. The theme was ‘the circus’ and there were hot dog stands, pop corn, fairy floss, and slushies (with or without vodka!). She also had those games set up where you throw a ball into a hole in the wall to win prizes, and throw quoits on a stick etc. My favourite part though was definitely the chocolate fountain, even though I did feel for her step-mother when it malfunctioned and spilt all over the white marble floors…
This one is about a school wide party! I am a high school teacher and a lover of animals and a sucker for charity! I always hold a cupcake day for the RSPCA at my work. This time in 2009, I had a beautiful year 7 class who wanted to get involved, they brought in so many cute cakes they baked themselves (obviously without any parents help!). I felt like crying when the little kids overcame their fears and got up on the microphone in front of the whole school to try to motivate all the students with a cute anti caged egg speech! I still made my own cakes like I always do and we sold those too! We raised about $200 for the RSPCA and we got a certificate which I put in the classroom! That was the best day and that night it was hard to sleep- who ever said teaching was a thankless job?
Anther children’s party that I have been to is a jungle animal themed one. There place was decorated with green balloons and orange balloons with stripes. They had monkeys hanging from the tree and they had cookies in the shape of jungle animals.
They also had face painting where children could become any animal they wanted to be. The cake was one of the best bits of all, it was a big lion and the kids just loved chomping into it!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
My daughter & I recently went to a birthday party at the zoo where they brought the python out and everyone got to touch it!
A few years ago, before children, a house being built and marriage and I could drop everything and go to a party I went to one on the spare of the moment. A friend was going and said did I want to go. I didn’t know the host or any of the other guests attending but I thought why not! I got dress, quickly if I do say so myself! and off we went. We got there and the music was going and people were chatting, drink and nibbles were flowing. It was a great night, I met a whole lot of people that never met before and just had a general great time. Sometimes it pays to go with the spirit of the moment and throw caution to the wind and you get to met some really great people in this world.
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
my favourite party that I held was a NYE party when I prepared a Lebanese feast for around 25 of my friends – it was great fun! I love spoiling my friends!
A housewarming party held at a gorgeous share flat I inhabited once in Double Bay. It was in a cul-de-sac, with a shared terrace that overlooked a marina. The night was balmy and clear, everyone (plus more) who had been invited showed up, the food and wine was flowing, the boats bobbing on the marina and we even got rid of the pesky council goose 10 mins before the first guest arrived. And how can I forget my 30th ? I got spoilt at work: presents, b’day cake and a lunch at Industrie and rocking b’day drinks plus more cake in Coogee the next night.
My Dad’s 50th birthday was a lovely event we held at my parents house, after moaning about not wanting to have one and having to do all the preparation, as soon as the guests arrived my Dad was in the swing of things being his jovial self. Prior to the party we had been making in secret a large photo book of his life, this was before the digital ones you can order online, wish I had, had that idea! Darn! Anyway we spent a good month collecting photos and writing all the blurbs under each photo creating a story of his life.
All the guest signed the back pages and there were more than a few impressed, all his sisters wished they had received one for their 50th birthdays.
Love ya Dad!

The best party I attended was my boyfriends 30th which I organised at St Patricks. (The castle where Nicole and Keith were married) It is now an international hospitality school and for $30 you can have an interesting 3 couse meal. (Wine only $3 a glass and isn’t too bad either) Definately worth the $30 and made for a memorable evening!
My Baby Shower in January this year was a really lovely event. My friend, who is the host with the most, held a High Tea for me in her glamorous and gorgeously green backyard.
We had tiny scones, muffins, cupcakes and lovely little sandwiches all with different fillings. We had tea, even though it was boiling hot and felt like really ladies. It was lovely to see everybody before my baby girl was born and time for me was at a premium.
I can’t wait till I can take my little girl to High Tea too!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
My favourite party was a Garden Tea Party I hosted in my garden to raise some money for the Cancer Council. My good friend has breast cancer so her and I decided to hold an event where we could eat cake with a conscience! So we prettied up the garden with paper lanterns and all things pretty and pink (pastel themed) and feasted on cupcakes, raspberry macaroon slice and champagne (amongst many other yummy morsels brought by our guests). And we raised $250 odd for the Cancer Council. A great, giving and yummy day was had by all!!
Before our Oktober fest 2007 my now husband blind-folded me and drove us to a picnic he had set up by the harbour at Macquaries Chair overlooking the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. With my fav food and wine and proposed to me…then we went and celebrated with our friends at the Oktoberfest party.
The best party I have attended was my daughter’s first birthday party. Relaxed and casual, the setting was my parents’ garden. The guests ranged from newborns to 65 year olds, and the food went from fairy bread, home made sausage rolls to a lebanese feast! The cake, of course, was the highlight – a butterfly covered with lolly jewels. Can’t wait for the second birthday next year!
It was probably more my husband’s party then mine but we attended Oktoberfest in Germany in 2005. Wow, it was amazing to see that much beer! The place is extremely big! There are rides, which don’t mix well with the food as you can imagine but the fact that people can drink from 11am to mid-night is amazing.
My husband always said the most amazing thing for him is that you don’t get a hangover as the beer as no preservatives and it comes straight from the Keg, literally, they just break the cork and the beer is flowing no fancy taps just pouring beer!
There is always plenty of sour-crout and bratwurst, and big, big pretzels!
Wow, what a party and every year my husband says, “Can we go” and I say with a mortgage and a baby, maybe next year honey, got to give him some hope!
busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
My favourite “girly” party was my house mates 30th last month. I’m currently doing a cake decorating course at my local community college and made my very first fondant cake! It was a blue Tiffany box with a big white fondant bow and silver braclet. Soooo many complements! I loved every second of it.
So here is one for all dog lovers! My Mum a former ANZ employee held the Christmas ANZ party for her branch at our house many years ago. We owned a Beagle called George and if anyone knows what a Beagle is like then you will understand. They have incredible scenes and this dog had a cast iron stomach. Once he ate 12 bars of chocolate left in a box on the ground by a friend in high school, it was all gone before we knew he had started, (no word of a lie) anyway back to the story. So there were probably about 30 people and George had been put in the laundry to stop him trying to scavenge food, however that sneaky little fella managed to get out, and dinner had just finished and people were mingling out of their seats, George managed to hop onto the table (this was a regular occurrence) and he worked his way down the table eating every piece of leftover, the word hoover dog comes to mind with which the speed he chowed down on the food. He was in doggy heaven! He had pretty much got to the last plate before anyone in our family realised he was on the table, as we were busy inside cleaning up things. It was very embarrassing but very entertaining for the guests, now we can look back and laugh but we have had our fill of beagles.

As you have read about pretty much every party that I think seems worthwhile telling you about I would like to tell you of my big! plans for a Christmas Party for next year, gives me a whole year to plan. It took me a year to plan my wedding so I figure this should be enough time. So inspired by the movies like Christmas with the Kranks ( not the running away from Christmas part) but the gathering of lots of people and having a great time.
We may not have everyone in the neighbourhood and we most likely, in fact definitely, won’t stand in a large group in the house singing Christmas Carols but the spirit of Christmas is what has captured me. To gather your loved ones around, everyone brings a dish (as everyone is talented at cooking something) everyone brings a bottle of yummy wine and the festivities begin. Some funky Christmas carols in the background, kids running around squealing that Santa is coming soon, everyone chatting, laughing, smiling. The lights twinkle and the air is warm (especially here in QLD) and the evening is inviting you to step outside into the warm evening breeze.
The table is laid with red, silvers and whites. The tree is decorated and presents wrapped.
Yes that is a Christmas I would love to have and hopefully next year, fingers crossed.

Today I would like to finish with a favourite of mine,
The biggest and best party I have been to and where I can say I had the best time!
Very soon on October Twenty-Eight,
I am going to have my second anniversary wedding date,
My husband who really isn’t great at romance,
Will wine me and dine me and hopefully I’ll get a dance,
We will look at each other after thirteen years of love,
And in the flicker of the candle light we’ll put away the boxing gloves, hehe only jokes!
I am so glad he is mine and he is as sweet as can be,
He is a cuddly man with good intentions you see,
He takes good care of our baby and me,
Works very hard away from home and is always striving to be the best he can be,
So our wedding was a small affair,
In the arena of how other weddings compare,
We had 70 guests for a cocktail party at a Winery Estate,
Set up high on a mountain with views that took your breath away,
It was a very hot day and the guests were melting in the shade,
While they waited for me and the music played,
I arrived only a little late,
But it was perfect timing as the clouds covered the sun when we got to the Estate gates,
This cooled the afternoon and the mountain breeze blew,
However the afternoon didn’t go without a hitch or two,
The flower girl got stage fright and Dad forgot when to walk,
But it didn’t matter because I felt like I floated to down the aisle and when I reached the alter my hubby could barely talk,
The ceremony did go very smoothly,
And I become Mrs. Teale and the tears followed soonly,
We celebrated with champagne, wine and beer of course, a cold Bundy also hubbies wish,
However the $2000 tab was gone in one hour, what’s that saying, to drink like a fish!
We had canapés and homemade savory delights,
There was so much food I told the guests to eat as much as they liked,
There was homemade soup made from local ingredients and crusty bread and dips,
The food was given five stars and some was so good it didn’t even seem to touch the lips!
It was a casual, merry affair,
Where our loved ones gathered to celebrate with us and we were so glad we got to share,
The evening ended on a high,
With lots of caramel mud cake and a spectacular lightning storm in the distant sky,
So that is my story of how I came to be,
Mrs. Teale and our beautiful baby girl now make three!

Thanks for the opportunity to win, Pink Frosting & Lorraine. My favourite parties where catered by me for my daughters 18th and 21st, the 21st being the best and most memorable.
Pink Frosting had lovely things toooo then. My son will be 18 soon and I think the Aged to Perfection Cupcake Party Kit and Contemporary Chocolate Personalised Cupcake toppers from Pink Frosting would suit just fine.
Cheers!
I love looking at this site, it is so beautiful and I wish I was arty like them.
