Valentines Day Competition: Win 2 Places at a Beef & Beer Masterclass at Mumu Grill

Ladies and Gents (or if I were 5 years old, I would have started this with “Ladies and Germs” and promptly keeled over in a laughing fit), you didn’t think I would forget about you this Valentines Day did you? Well I have a present that is going to appeal to both of you… a beef and beer cooking class! Now ladies, both taken and single, you may have difficulty getting your Significant Other or whom you want to be your Significant Other to attend a cake making class but dangle a beef and beer cooking class in front of a guy and his ears are likely to swivel around in interest.

Mumu Grill’s Beef and Beer cooking class was such a success during the Sydney International Food Festival that they had six times the amount of people wanting to book than there were places. It had to be taken off the website before October such was the demand. So I have two places for one very lucky reader to their next Beef and Beer Masterclass on the 20th of February. If you miss out they hold regular Beef and Beer Masterclasses on the second and third Saturday of each month.

This is how Craig Macindoe, the owner and chef of Mum Grill describes the classes:

“The format will be one hour in the kitchen with me followed by one hour outside with Dan.

While in the kitchen we will look at beef cuts, different cooking techniques, Basic rubs, and BBQ Salads. During the kitchen time we will of course be having a beer, after all, what is a BBQ without one. All attendees will cook in my kitchen.

Once an hour has been spent learning about beef, all the food will be plated up ( yes you will be marked on your plating just as in Masterchef). Then outside to spend an hour eating the meat and talking and learning about beer. You will taste approximately 5-7 beers with your meal going through various production techniques flavour profiles and all the technical stuff.”

So to win this fantastic prize valued at $170 just tell me what are you wishing for this Valentines Day?

Add your entry via a comment to this story. You can enter once daily as long as your answer is different. This competition is open to Australian residents only and you will need to be free on the 20th of February to attend the class in Crows Nest.

***The lucky winner of the Mumu Grill Beef & Beer Class is Anne A. of Newcastle!***

This competition finishes midnight AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on the 7th of February, 2010.

To find out more about the classes, see the Mumu Blog.

Good Luck to everyone!

Love,

Lorraine

Wishing for Valentine’s? That he remembers. It is also the anniversary of our first meeting (I was with another fella, and he was with – some slapper). We’ve been together too long to expect any actual gifts.

This prize is exactly what my husband needs, he only gets it 50% right when barbecuing meat, so the class would fix that problem! :-)
As for myself, being a wine lover would give me a better understanding and appreciation of the qualities of beer.

What! Those blokes in denial know not what they’re missing. I met my Valentine in Kalgoorlie when I walked into the staff room on the first day of school and spied his hot bod! My first words to him were “happy VD!” (brazen hussy that I was…)and took him home for lunch. He’s been here ever since. We married 4 yrs later on VD and he’s NEVER forgotten our anniversary in 32 yrs with a lovely card, champagne & posh restaurant dinner. Hallmark day indeed…. Hang in there girls!!!!

On a previous Val-Day in BangKok, I bought my wife a huge bunch of very red roses for (us)$10. I didnt haggle with the vendor either.(not squeezing the locals is a good thing, too)
We are travelling thru BK again this valentines, & I am hoping to do the same this year.
Lastly, we are moving to Syndey in Feb/March and some friends have helped out a lot… So winning a beef&beer prize (for them) would be a nice way to say thank you.

This is the first Valentines day for me since I got married. I feel like I have hit the jackpot with my man so I am wishing that a few of my single friends get surprised by gorgeous gifts of flowers, chocolates or other surprises; that ny friends who have given birth in the last year are spoilt by there husbands/partners and that everyone else I know gets what they want out of the day.

My valentine’s wish is to recreate a meal we had in Paris, we were exhausted and hungry and didn’t care that this restaurant looked like a tourist trap we just wanted to eat! the waitress told us NOT to get the things we ordered and suggested another dish which turned out to be the best steak we ever had! Now if I only I had the skills to identify the cut of meat!

  • 102. Andrea | February 5, 2010 at 7:05 pm | #

I would love to have a mix of Valentines Day chocolates and champagne plus lucky Chinese New Year foods in one big dinner with my family and valentine.

Combine both celebrations with ones I love!

Valentines… ummm. Sexy lingerie; A baby sitter; A gorgeous meal with plenty of French kissing for starters; and a romantic romp in tousled sheets!

What i wish for this valentine’s day?
i wish for forgiveness , for the one i offended all of 6yrs , why did i offend her you ask? because i refused to think that someone as lovely , and attractive as her would want to spend forever with a person like me, personal insecurities i guess.. Anyhow my Darling Lourdes, if you ever get to see this.. its because the holy father has heard my prayers.. i love you so , so much and its this Valentines day that I want to show you just how much.. i havent been the most kind , caring person of late, and i walked away from Our relationship because of the way in which you showed your anger, becuase i always denied you the chance to be my wife.. as I know thats what you always wanted. Being away from you , counting the seconds, forever checking my phone, to see if you had called, or texted me.. i have so many good memories of Us , and i cant secome to letting them go from my heart or my mind! – I know that we are meant to be together.. thats why i finally listened to what you have been telling me for years… talk is cheap! – you want actions.. thats why I took myself to your favourite store and put down a deposit on an engagement ring for You.. i know its not mine till i pay the last dollar, but To answer the question at the top of the page.. i Wish that you dont stop , what We started 6 years ago! its your fault that i love you so much , you made me fall for you , nothing is perfect, except for the feeling called “love” i feel it, i didnt realy know what is was until i felt it with you!!

you are my angel ,the air I breathe , in every thought, and gesture.. i am here for you.

I wish you would make me feel , the way i have always felt for you.

and for everyone else who read’s this post… i wish you to knows what it feels to Love someone with your entirety!

may all the happy couples have a wonderful valentines day 2010.

My wish for Valentines Day is to spend as much time as he has available with the love of my life…my gorgeous 20 year old son. He is leaving on April 5th to be with the Australian Defence Force as a Commando. This also means he wont be celebrating his 21st birthday on April 26th. We would love to do the Beef and Beer Masterclass together and celebrate the love and amazing bond between Mother and Son. I am soooo proud but will miss him so much it hurts. I love you Cam xxxx

I’m praying for hubby to get another job,
Everything’s a smack in the gob,
    Because he got made redundant,
Our valentine wishes we cannot grant.

A home-cooked meal from my boyfriend would be nice! Especially one that doesn’t involve me stepping in to save whatever it is from burning.

After being married for ten years and never celebrating Valentines Day, I’d love to take beer-snob loving husband on the Masterclass.

I wish that my partner could even pretend to love me for just this one day.
I’m so lonely, even when she’s in my arms :(

I will keep my Heart open for you
no matter where you will be.

I wish for all those looking for a Valentine, get their wish come true and find real love at last. I wish for everyone that is lonely to remember how beautiful they are, inside and out and to accept that they don’t need to have a partner to feel good about themselves and to never doubt their valuable worth. So this valentine’s day, I’m wishing everyone a happy heart and a sunny disposition to make every day count!

I wish I may,I wish I might attend Mumu Grills beef and beer masterclass for Valentine’s night. My hubby’s loves are beer and meat and if I won this for him, he’d think I was really sweet.

In Finland Valentine’s Day is actually called “Ystävänpäivä” (=Friend’s Day), and all I wish for this Valentine’s is that my friends in Finland would spare a thought for the one living on the other side of the world.

I’d love a Sunday morning of undivided attention without newspapers and morning political reporting on television.

With some sexy Barry White music on the stereo. Or maybe the Flight of the Conchords?!!
