Ladies and Gents (or if I were 5 years old, I would have started this with “Ladies and Germs” and promptly keeled over in a laughing fit), you didn’t think I would forget about you this Valentines Day did you? Well I have a present that is going to appeal to both of you… a beef and beer cooking class! Now ladies, both taken and single, you may have difficulty getting your Significant Other or whom you want to be your Significant Other to attend a cake making class but dangle a beef and beer cooking class in front of a guy and his ears are likely to swivel around in interest.

Mumu Grill’s Beef and Beer cooking class was such a success during the Sydney International Food Festival that they had six times the amount of people wanting to book than there were places. It had to be taken off the website before October such was the demand. So I have two places for one very lucky reader to their next Beef and Beer Masterclass on the 20th of February. If you miss out they hold regular Beef and Beer Masterclasses on the second and third Saturday of each month.

This is how Craig Macindoe, the owner and chef of Mum Grill describes the classes:
“The format will be one hour in the kitchen with me followed by one hour outside with Dan.
While in the kitchen we will look at beef cuts, different cooking techniques, Basic rubs, and BBQ Salads. During the kitchen time we will of course be having a beer, after all, what is a BBQ without one. All attendees will cook in my kitchen.
Once an hour has been spent learning about beef, all the food will be plated up ( yes you will be marked on your plating just as in Masterchef). Then outside to spend an hour eating the meat and talking and learning about beer. You will taste approximately 5-7 beers with your meal going through various production techniques flavour profiles and all the technical stuff.”

So to win this fantastic prize valued at $170 just tell me what are you wishing for this Valentines Day?
Add your entry via a comment to this story. You can enter once daily as long as your answer is different. This competition is open to Australian residents only and you will need to be free on the 20th of February to attend the class in Crows Nest.
***The lucky winner of the Mumu Grill Beef & Beer Class is Anne A. of Newcastle!***
This competition finishes midnight AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on the 7th of February, 2010.
To find out more about the classes, see the Mumu Blog.
Good Luck to everyone!
Love,
Lorraine

This Valentine’s? All I want is to meet that someone special! Why is it so so impossible? Oh woe is me indeed.
Gobsmack’d
If that piece of beef is any gauge, I’d almost move!
What a fabulous idea!
Yep, quite sure my man would love this.
Someday…
That steak looks incredible. I can’t get there unfortunately but it looks incredible.
Hi Lorraine- I’m in Melbourne and thanks to my two little sea-anchors would be unable to attend, but wanted to tell you my number 1 cherub watches a show that says ‘ladies and jellybeans, boys and gorillas’, and she thinks it’s hilarious!
This Valentines Day I am wishing for sunny weather and a picnic on the beach.
However as this year’s Valentines Day falls on Chinese New Year, I expect to be at someone’s house for a banquet.
Wishing for Valentine’s? That he remembers. It is also the anniversary of our first meeting (I was with another fella, and he was with – some slapper). We’ve been together too long to expect any actual gifts.
You really make me wish I lived in your zone!!
I am wishing to share a new experience like this with my partner – great food , some wine , and just doing somthing different with the man I love…most of the time!
Mouthwatering!!
This Valentine’s Day I’d love to meet a nice bloke.
I wish not to be drowning my sorrows with vodka and chaka khan a la miss jones! just kidding – probably a night out with my single girls (and some vodka)!
This Valentine’s I am wishing to share a unique experience with someone I want more permanently in my life – at the Beef & Beer Masterclass!
RAIN!
Would love to get those dams full! Makes for a very happy husband.
I’m wishing that my boy and I could improve our cooking skills! I moved into his place just before NYE and the last couple of meals we’ve cooked ourselves have definitely had room for improvement. Thank goodness for restaurants
My wish is for this gift to go to some very special people in my life – more special than a valentine, thicker than water, deeper than blood!
For this Valentines day i wish I continue to have my lovely girl by my side, sharing the things that we love to do together in life!
Sorry if this makes some people puke!
Valentines day wish…..
That the people most closest to me feel appreciated, respected and cared for….that any broken heart mends and a new flame lit.
Oooh this looks like a fun class, wish I was living in Australia!
Though there isn’t enough time to make it happen, I wish that on Valentines Day I could be on a cruise sailing to Noumea with my boyfriend.
This valentines day I am wishing for breakfast in bed. Not 5* luxury but rather a tray with a homemade card, scribbled lines and smudges from my girls. A plate with crispy toast, wobbly scrambled eggs, lovingly prepared by my husband and our children. Simple but the best ever!
This Valentines I wish to scrap the date with my Mr. and take my un-lucky in love girlfriend out.
Afterall is Valentines everyday when you have already hooked up.
Minus the overpriced flowers of course!
A babysitter!
Oh this sounds like a fantastic experience as it would definately get the boy cooking.
This Valentine’s Day I wish that I am not working.. Being in the Hospitality industry, I’ve worked every VDay for the last 5 years and never had been able to go on a nice, romantic dinner with the boy.
I know the steak at Mumu’s fantastic, but my eyes got drawn to the 5-7 beer statement – that’s music to Mr J’s ears!!
I know I’m not eligible to enter, but I had to share…I’m absolutely wishing for chocolate on Valentine’s!
Another fantastic giveaway, Lorraine!
Ah, this reminds me of the cooking class I had at Zucca. It was such a great experience. I’m envious of whoever the winner is!
oooh look like the ONLY valentines day activity my partner would be willing to take part in!
I wish to be in Australia for entering in this competition. Good luck everybody.
Happy weekend!
Gera
After 25 years with my Valentine what I want most is 25 more.
This prize is exactly what my husband needs, he only gets it 50% right when barbecuing meat, so the class would fix that problem!
As for myself, being a wine lover would give me a better understanding and appreciation of the qualities of beer.
Beef & Beer… That’s like Chocolates & flowers for ladies!
Omgosh, i’m such a sook, Brian that is so damned sweet.
My SO normally calls Valentine’s Day “Hallmark Day” and refuses to do anything special. If we won, it wouldn’t technically be on the 14th and from then on, it’d be Mumu Grill Remembrance Day…
Mumu was one of regular fav’s for feeding in Sydney. The brown sugar pavlova will have you wanting more (they say to share it – DON’T! Hog it all to yourself.)
My Valentines wish is to enjoy my time at Barossa Valley with my bf =)
All I want for this Valentines Day is simply for my man to come home. I MISS HIM SO MUCH!
My wish is to spend Valentines Day actually with my husband! Unfortunately I’ll be in Melbourne visiting my sister this year. Maybe winning this would allow us to celebrate on the 20th instead?
This Valentine’s Day I’m wishing for some quality time with my hubby (difficult to do with a baby)…
hi lorraine
will you pay my ticket if I win ! i only travel frist class sorry !!! Cheers from very sunny Paris (but cold!)
This looks fabulous!! We would both absolutely LOVE to try this…we both love to cook and share the kitchen a lot. Would be a great experience and we’d certainly be more than willing to travel the 6 hours to get there!!
As for Valentines Day….a quiet dinner with our 6 children & ending with chocolate! Yum!!!
I went to a Korean bbq buffet tonight and you somehow made that slab of meat still look tempting!
This Valentines all I want is a nice quiet day with the bf. A roadtrip to somewhere romantic would be great
he’s going through chemotherapy at the moment, so I don’t want any presents.
This Valentine, I’m wishing for good health for my family and friends. I’ve never really celebrated V-Day due to the lack of significant other, but I do celebrate the Lunar New Year.
I’m hoping for a present that doesn’t involve roses or chocolate…time to be creative!
Oh, it’s times like these when I regret that I don’t live in Australia!
This Valentine’s Day I would love to do something – my husband decided 20 yrs ago that Valentine’s Day was a con, and so,no Valentine’s Day for me. I would love to celebrate it with a good meal and some good champagne.
Yum, what a fantastic idea. Look at that nice bit of meat with those green beans mmmm!
This Valentines day I’m hoping my husband can cook me a nice Valentines day dinner, not steak a’la’ rubber or what he calls “potato pyramid” (potatoes baked in a pyramid shape, but the middle is raw!)…..I’m thinking something Middle Eastern, a salad with pomegranate and goats cheese and some grilled seafood mmmm
I’m wishing for a bouquet of flowers or a living plant this Valentine’s Day as either brightens up my apartment.
Someone else cooking me a meal and cleaning the kitchen for a change!
A “clean echocardiogram” after my husbands recent “minor” heart attack, we sure could do with a Vaentines Day treat
I have to cook my own steak, as my hubby cant stop turning things over, and cooks the steak first, so its overcooked, and cold. This course would show him that other men can cook steaks well, and maybe he will be able to cook good steaks also….:)
I don’t wish for much – just a nice feed and something bubbly and sweet to wash it down with and a little cuddle would be the cherry on top!
Valentines day is special to us as it’s the anniversary of our very first date. I wish I could improve my cooking skills so I can repay my lovely boyfriend for all the delcious meals he’s cooked for me!
not looking for mr right, but mr right for me.. somehow, that seems to be an elusive task for the past few years.. anyhow, v day is not only for the couples but also for friends to come together and celebrate! therefore i’ll be making more than one person happy on this day every yr!!!! plsplspls mrs NQN!!!!
I don’t wish for much – just being with my man and being grateful for him and the last 6 years. He would love a steak (he feel in love with Rockpool Grill) and I would like to be home when he delivers roses to me.
A picnic hamper full of peanut butter cookies, a mug of tea, a good book and a nice sunny day!
What! Those blokes in denial know not what they’re missing. I met my Valentine in Kalgoorlie when I walked into the staff room on the first day of school and spied his hot bod! My first words to him were “happy VD!” (brazen hussy that I was…)and took him home for lunch. He’s been here ever since. We married 4 yrs later on VD and he’s NEVER forgotten our anniversary in 32 yrs with a lovely card, champagne & posh restaurant dinner. Hallmark day indeed…. Hang in there girls!!!!
It may be simple but all I want is a sleep in. That would make my day!
This will be the first Valentine’s we spend together as “fiance and fiancee” so I am wishing for a simple, romantic, and intimate weekend – not to mention a little bit of Chinese New Year celebration with the family too
I am wishing for a home cooked meal and the garbage taken out.
All I want for valentines day is to see the look in my wife’s eyes when I give her the diamond ring I bought her, and to make sure that its at night and both her eyes and the ring have the same sparkle
On a previous Val-Day in BangKok, I bought my wife a huge bunch of very red roses for (us)$10. I didnt haggle with the vendor either.(not squeezing the locals is a good thing, too)
We are travelling thru BK again this valentines, & I am hoping to do the same this year.
Lastly, we are moving to Syndey in Feb/March and some friends have helped out a lot… So winning a beef&beer prize (for them) would be a nice way to say thank you.
This Valentine’s Day I am wishing for new partners for all my single girlfriends. And that they keep believing in themselves; they deserve to have that special someone in their lives.
This is the first Valentines day for me since I got married. I feel like I have hit the jackpot with my man so I am wishing that a few of my single friends get surprised by gorgeous gifts of flowers, chocolates or other surprises; that ny friends who have given birth in the last year are spoilt by there husbands/partners and that everyone else I know gets what they want out of the day.
Anything… Something! Dinner organised by him, however I will probably end up organising so he can’t disappoint me. Therefore beef and beer course would be fantastic!
My valentine’s wish is to recreate a meal we had in Paris, we were exhausted and hungry and didn’t care that this restaurant looked like a tourist trap we just wanted to eat! the waitress told us NOT to get the things we ordered and suggested another dish which turned out to be the best steak we ever had! Now if I only I had the skills to identify the cut of meat!
This Valentine’s I’m wishing for something warm and nice, maybe with a touch of sugar and spice. Something spicy to add some flare, and something with a little bite- if I dare. It seems the only thing that fits the bill is a Beef and Beer Masterclass with my hubby at Mumu Grill!
Mmm… a home cooked meal from my boy
hmmm meat…! and spending time with hubby..doesn’t really matter where.
a chocolate feast!
I’m wishing that I could eat a mountain of chocolate and not put on any weight!
a big piece of meat!
… interpret that which ever way you like!
For this Valentines Day, I am just hoping for a Valentine!
My man might actually leave the house if there is the promise of beef & beer… give me this fantastic prize… so I can lure him out and have the girls round for some real fun this valentine’s day!!
As I am going to the Football on Valentines Day, I am hoping that Sydney FC beat Melbourne.
And that we have a dinner out the next week!
valentines day the love in the air!
Love is merry
But im looking forward to CHOCOLATES! been starving myself on a diet… good excuse to break that
this valentines day i would like to have a lovely dinner, homecooked or at a restaurant where the food is delicious, even if it is simple, and for a date who will make me laugh the whole night and who will love my cooking or be a great cook himself, who i can learn a thing or two from. in the kitchen of course ; )
Ah, NQN, another absolutely beautiful treat! I want two things for Valentine’s Day: (1)peace and happiness (yes, I’m counting that as one
) and (2) to be a resident of Australia so I can have a shot at one of your beautiful treats!!
This Valentine’s Day which coincidentally also happen to be the first day of Chinese New Year where we welcome the Year of the Tiger, I am wishing that I finally get a BFP (Big Fat Positive) pregnancy result after 2 heartbreaking failed IVF cycles over the last 2 years.
What do I want for valentines day? My husband, all to myself, smothered in carrot cake ice cream (obviously keeping the ice cream part above the belly button area!). It’s all I can think about since that blog, (read in Tom Jones-esque voice) – ohhhh yeeaaahhhh.

I wish to take my sweet prince out somewhere exciting and different and to shower him with love. He treats me like a queen and I would like him to feel as loved and shining as he makes me feel, and to be full of delicious steak! I also wish for all the beautiful women out there that I know to be full of laughter and happiness, on Valentines day and every other…
Im wishing for my other half to learn to cook steak so he can make me dinner all the time.. not sure I want to learn because then I might have to cook

In some glorious weather.

My wish is to love and be loved and to share a magical day dining by the sea and watching waves crash on rocks whilst an unbelievably beautiful sunset disappears in the background.
a single gay man so that my friend has a date when i have my first celebration of valentines day.
What do I want for valentines day? The perfect meal to serve my girlfriend. So I can make her the happiest person on earth.
(Menu is still in the planning stages).
My Valentines Day will be spent amongst boxes in the appartment my boyfriend and I will have moved into that very day, with hopefully a nice glass of red wine, some home-cured olives and a nice future ahead of us… I think that’s quite romantic
I am wising for my wife to do a strip tease for me, that would be nice.
this valentines I wish that someone would cook for me for a change!
I wish for a plane ticket to New York so I can visit my boyfriend who lives there. We haven’t seen each other for months and keep daydreaming that we’ll see each other for Valentine’s Day *sigh*
A romantic got air balloon ride -I’d be on Cloud 9, literally and physically!
This Valentine’s Day I’d love to receive a beautifully cooked meal made in my new dutch oven by my valentine.
And a bunch of Australian natives to display in my vase.
Well I somehow managed to burn my middle finger tonight while frying up some chicken skewers..
So now I really wish I could have some cooking tuition!
Valentines Day I wish for great weather so my gorgeous husband and I can enjoy a romantic picnic with great wine and fantastic food.
For Valentines Day I wish for fabulous weather so my gorgeous husband and I can enjoy a romantic picnic with great wine and amazing food.
All I want is for my husband to cook for me for once!
I would love to have a mix of Valentines Day chocolates and champagne plus lucky Chinese New Year foods in one big dinner with my family and valentine.
Combine both celebrations with ones I love!
Valentines… ummm. Sexy lingerie; A baby sitter; A gorgeous meal with plenty of French kissing for starters; and a romantic romp in tousled sheets!
What i wish for this valentine’s day?
i wish for forgiveness , for the one i offended all of 6yrs , why did i offend her you ask? because i refused to think that someone as lovely , and attractive as her would want to spend forever with a person like me, personal insecurities i guess.. Anyhow my Darling Lourdes, if you ever get to see this.. its because the holy father has heard my prayers.. i love you so , so much and its this Valentines day that I want to show you just how much.. i havent been the most kind , caring person of late, and i walked away from Our relationship because of the way in which you showed your anger, becuase i always denied you the chance to be my wife.. as I know thats what you always wanted. Being away from you , counting the seconds, forever checking my phone, to see if you had called, or texted me.. i have so many good memories of Us , and i cant secome to letting them go from my heart or my mind! – I know that we are meant to be together.. thats why i finally listened to what you have been telling me for years… talk is cheap! – you want actions.. thats why I took myself to your favourite store and put down a deposit on an engagement ring for You.. i know its not mine till i pay the last dollar, but To answer the question at the top of the page.. i Wish that you dont stop , what We started 6 years ago! its your fault that i love you so much , you made me fall for you , nothing is perfect, except for the feeling called “love” i feel it, i didnt realy know what is was until i felt it with you!!
you are my angel ,the air I breathe , in every thought, and gesture.. i am here for you.
I wish you would make me feel , the way i have always felt for you.
and for everyone else who read’s this post… i wish you to knows what it feels to Love someone with your entirety!
may all the happy couples have a wonderful valentines day 2010.
My wish for Valentines Day is to spend as much time as he has available with the love of my life…my gorgeous 20 year old son. He is leaving on April 5th to be with the Australian Defence Force as a Commando. This also means he wont be celebrating his 21st birthday on April 26th. We would love to do the Beef and Beer Masterclass together and celebrate the love and amazing bond between Mother and Son. I am soooo proud but will miss him so much it hurts. I love you Cam xxxx
I’m praying for hubby to get another job,
Everything’s a smack in the gob,
Because he got made redundant,
Our valentine wishes we cannot grant.
A home-cooked meal from my boyfriend would be nice! Especially one that doesn’t involve me stepping in to save whatever it is from burning.
After being married for ten years and never celebrating Valentines Day, I’d love to take beer-snob loving husband on the Masterclass.
I wish that my partner could even pretend to love me for just this one day.
I’m so lonely, even when she’s in my arms
The Magic of Valentines Day to unfold in the way its meant to be.
To meet my One true Love, that`s more than enough for me!
I will keep my Heart open for you
no matter where you will be.
I wish for all those looking for a Valentine, get their wish come true and find real love at last. I wish for everyone that is lonely to remember how beautiful they are, inside and out and to accept that they don’t need to have a partner to feel good about themselves and to never doubt their valuable worth. So this valentine’s day, I’m wishing everyone a happy heart and a sunny disposition to make every day count!
I wish I may,I wish I might attend Mumu Grills beef and beer masterclass for Valentine’s night. My hubby’s loves are beer and meat and if I won this for him, he’d think I was really sweet.
In Finland Valentine’s Day is actually called “Ystävänpäivä” (=Friend’s Day), and all I wish for this Valentine’s is that my friends in Finland would spare a thought for the one living on the other side of the world.
I’d love a Sunday morning of undivided attention without newspapers and morning political reporting on television.
With some sexy Barry White music on the stereo. Or maybe the Flight of the Conchords?!!
I am wishing for… A good day of cooking soulful food for my beloved. (i.e. nothing goes wrong!)
Sounds fabulous! No more overcooked steaks!!
Would love it myself but …5-7 beers! Oh dear!
That the world be filled with love
And peace abound for all
That the lonely are alone no more
And my lovers knock heard at the door!
I wish for my boyfriend to propose to me so we can give my parents some grandchildren sometime soon!!
As Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday, my wish is for a SLEEP IN!!!
