Great prizes, but once again, I have to pass as I live in the US!
You know, don’t you, that I’m thoroughly convinced that I would be the happy winner of this lovely give away were I only properly located. And how happy I’d be!
Good luck to everyone in Australia! Have a great weekend, NQN!
What a great giveaway!
Seeing as I already one one of these packs from Thanh (amazing! I never win things!) I’ll humbly bow out of the competition, but can I say one of the dishes I’m proud of lately anyway?
Cinnamon meringues on star anise-poached rhubarb. Oh, I miss having a kitchen!
Thanks Lorraine! The last dish I made that I was really proud of was Jacques Pepin’s Blanquette de Lapin (rabbit in cream), but my husband refused to eat it!
Hey Lorraine,
The last dish I made that I was proud of was your Yee Sang Salad! My husband said it was the best salad ever and I would have to agree! I tweaked it a bit to suit hubby’s palate and used homemade plum sauce from my friend’s damson tree and it was an absolute delight!
The last dish that I was proud of was a lychee drink that I turned into a jelly. My sister once made me a lychee drink with mint and lime zest and for some reason in the back of my mind I imagined it as a jelly. When a friend came to visit last week, I served up an asian style lunch and finished up with the jelly served in a wine glass. I was very proud and my friend was impressed.
I’ve been on a cooking binge this week which is highly unusual and out of the ordinary for me. Yesterday I baked brownies and I am so proud that I achieved the coveted crunchiness on the outside and gooey-ness on the inside.
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi, sorry a little confusing, how does one enter the competition?
I made a romantic dinner three course dinner for two last Saturday night 13th Feb. I put the twins to bed early.
Classic chicken caesar salad for entree
BBq Rib Rack steaks brushed with garlic, red wine jus,
roasted cross cut potatoes, steamed green beans with roasted walnuts & bacon.
Dessert was homemade choc chunk brownies cut out in heart shape with Choc Kahlua ganache & strawberries.
Hubby said it was best meal he had had …our 20th wedding anniversary on 10th Feb so Anniversary/Valentine dinner.
Oh, that’s easy. Last weekend I made pistachio macarons with custard filling. They were my very first and they had feet so I was very proud. I’m making more today!
I forgot steamed honeyed baby carrots as a side too.
Great prize MRs NQN
slow baked beans, simmered in the oven all day on a wet yukky weekend. They cost about as much as a tin but tasted sooo superior.topped with smoky bacon and corn bread. the kids got their junky favourite and i got my satisfation of knowing exactly what was in the meal.
The last dish I made that i was proud of was Stephanie Alexanders Lemon Curd Layer Cake..Alto of time and patience paid off when everyone sat down to a slice of it and all loved it, unfortunatly I couldn’t try it myself as there was gelatine in it and I am vegetarian..but I was just so proud of the perfect layers of the crepes inside..Looked magnificent!
oo masterchef dvd! great prizes!
the last thing i made was your cheeseburger cupcakes, my friends loved them at the party so i told them what an awesome blog this is .
Chicken breasts rolled around baby spinach, semi dried tomatoes and camembert and then encased it prosciutto. Served sliced (so you could see the colours of the stuffing) on a bed of jasmine rice with bosciola sauce and steamed carrots and asparagus. There were miniature versions of the Magnolia Bakery cupcakes with rosewater instead of vanilla for dessert.
Zucchini Loaf. Deliciously moist even after a week.
Nadines pisaladierre from the cranks cookbook my very good friend helen and i used to make it for each other whenever we got together sadly she passed away 18months ago at the age of 43 i make it for ither friends now as a reminder that lifes to short to loose touch with your friends:)
Baked Lime Cheesecake that I’ve just finished preparing and my guests have cancelled!!!! On the bright side though…..more for us!!!!YAY
We traditionally have a roast on Sundays when visitors come over. I believe that the lamb was the best I ever bought because it was melt in the mouth. A classic but always appreciated with lashings of roast vegies & gravy.
Hi Lorraine & Co., I made poached pears in red wine, vanilla bean sauce with a vanilla, cream custard. Oh! yummo, it looked and tasted like restaurant food. It was easy peasy too. There were lots of “mmmm’s” around the table.
The last dish I made was a sponge cake. I thought it would be simple but alot of people told me that sponge cakes aren’t all what they seem.
I hunted on the net for the perfect sponge recipe and settled with trying one that had a few good comments. So I tried and achieved somewhat success. Plus it was a great way to use up a punnet of strawberries and a carton of cream that I had left over from Valentine’s day.
Delightful looking tea towels!
I was pretty stoked with the fish curry we made a few weeks back – haven’t cooked one before then – always stuck with safe meats. Next step – learning to cook with tofu!
My latest proud cooking moment would have to be last night’s dinner! I made fresh mango salsa (that had a bit of bite thanks to a red chilli) on top of panfried-salmon (hubby was so taken with it he said he would pay to eat in a restaurant a la Mohr Fish) served with a simple leaf salad! Even my 5 and 3 yr old sons polished theirs (minus mango salsa, but I vowed I’ll make it again without the chilli) without much encouragement – maybe it was the smash potatoes they had!!
Hi Lorraine,
I hope I’m not offending you or your readers with my choice. The last dish I’m really proud of is deep fried Stinky Tofu. It’s a recipe from my new Chinese neighbour Lee who often referred to this dish as “Chow Dofu”. It’s fermented tofu with a really strong odor, coat lightly with corn starch and deep fried in a hot wok. It’s a wonderful dish, the only trick is you probably have to shut your nose tight (even though it’s optional!!) and eat it fast to truly appreciate the heavenly flavour. We cooked this dish for Chinese New Year and it brought us lots of fun and laughter when preparing the Stinky Tofu.
I’m really proud of this dish as it bridges the cultural divide between my new neighbour and I, instead of letting the smell separate the two houses!
P.S. I hope to see this dish cooked in Masterchef. Imagine the drama it will cause in the kitchen!!
Cheers,
Emily
I made Zucchini and Haloumi fritters for a friend’s son’s christening. They were a hit with everyone asking for the recipe. They are fresh and taste like summer.
Although there will be details to follow soon – my last dish I was proud of was this month’s Daring Bakers Challenge.
Everything went wrong – EVERYTHING – but somehow, against the odds, I ended up with something I was pretty damn happy with!!
It’s not overly exciting but last night’s spag bol was a hit! Made from scratch with all the usual ingredients, carrot, onion, celery, bacon, mince, red wine, diced tomatoes, oregano, beef stock and a handful of lentils. ut it was one of those nights where everything came together absolutely perfectly. It was scrumptious and the silence from my 2 toddlers as they scoffed it was a bonus!
It was not last night but the night before I decided to try out panna cotta for the first time, It worked its the first time i’ve tried something and It has actually worked. I’m so happy.
I’m a vegetarian, and closer to vegan really because I don’t cook or eat dairy. The only thing that makes me vegetarian is my inability to give up eggs!
The dish I was most proud of was the baked ham I did for my boyfriend and flatmate on Christmas eve. Neither are vegetarians and I wanted to cook them a traditional Christmas meal they’d enjoy. So off little miss vegie went, purchased a 4kg ham which I basted and baked for 4.5 hours. I used cinnamon, mustard, star anise, honey and whiskey as the baste, and covered it in foil, uncovering and basting every 20 minutes. I thrown in some carrots and onions and celery as well and apparently it was delicious!
Oh, and I had sweet potato, egg and chive salad with soy mayo dressing
The last dish I made which I was extremely proud of was from a challenge my husband set for me after seeing Julie & Julia – yes I have to do all the recipes, however I have 3 years in which to do it. It was Duck En Croute which I made for Australia Day and it was absolutely delicious.
Great giveaway!
Last night I made san choy bow for my dad and it was a huge hit!
Being a typical englishman he doesnt like many foods and I had to convince him that this was a thai dish (thai is the only asian food he will eat).
I was so proud when he took the left overs to work the next day, and I am even more glad there is a dish I can replace his beloved tripe with (ewwwww!!).
I made a bouillabaisse on Valentine’s Day that I was very proud of. I don’t cook seafood very often.
Also, embarrassingly, I’m way proud of the 5 minute chocolate cake I’ve been making. I’ve been tweaking the recipe a little and am really pleased with the results (baking isn’t usually my forte).
In the last day and a half I’ve made 60 mini chocolate eclairs, a devil’s food cake (which is a great shade of red) with a ganache icing, a Key lime tart and a 3 tiered pavlova.. as well as a very tasty pork with mustard and creme fraiche sauce for supper last night.. And I’ve finished the washing up! I’m pretty proud of that!!
I whipped up a delicious thai red curry on Friday night. I was particularly proud of this curry because, although I did use a jar of thai red curry paste, I also used up some leftover roasted sweet potatoe and it was magnificent! Creamy, spicey, full of flavour and gorgeous served over noodles. Totally unconventional red curry but great all the same.
Clair, when can I come over? I am a real sucker for chocolate eclairs, especially home made….
As for cooking, as I am on a strict diet, I cook for weight loss at the moment (which doesnt match with my apetite for choc eclairs) so the last think I cooked was a simple beef stir fry, marinated in Ketchup Manus, with red caps, brocollini and green beans, and it was yummmmy…
I did do bangers and mash for the kids, which they always love…
I’ve always been intimidated by pork roasts. There, I said it. They are my Waterloo. However, I took a long, hard look at myself and after shrugging off my Napoleonic demon, decided to give it another crack. After rubbing it in salt, I slow roasted it for about six hours in the oven. Success at last! The crackling crackled, the pork was tender and juicy and the gravy was thick and flavoursome. I surprised myself and felt as if I’d conquered a new culinary frontier.
I am pretty proud of my tortilla pie I made recently
The totillas when cooked in this pie go to a sponge consistency yumm
Even my fussy 8year old had seconds!!!which is unheard of!!
Oh the teatowels look fabulous! They are simple and cute.
Since I had to work on Valentines Day for dinner I decided to cook up lunch for my boyfriend. I had planned it on the night before just after work around 1am. I made a simple pan-fried salmon dish with potato fritters, asparagus and fried lemon & chill breadcrumbs.. YUM! A nice way to spoil the boy imo
I’m so proud of the blueberry yogurt pie I made from scratch a couple of days ago! The recipe was from Baking with Julia (Julia Child) and I still can’t believe I was able to make my own pie crust! Homemade pasta is next on my list. Thanks NQN!
The last dish I made that I was proud of was salt amd pepper squid, on a bed of aromatic jasmine rice, with a fresh watermelon and onion salad.
I’m very proud of my prawn & asparagus risotto. Using a reduction made from the heads, legs and tails of the green prawns, it’s full of prawn flavour. Tossing in the prawns and asparagus at the last minute gives a splendidly creamy risotto with wonderful ‘just cooked’ prawns and slightly crunchy asparagus…. simple and flavoursome.
The last dish I cooked that I was really proud of is vegetable spring roll with palm hearts.
Hi Lorraine, I have a problematic oven which tends to burn my dishes…*hate*. It means I have to keep tampering with the temperatures in my recipes but the last dish that I made that I was proud of was a simple chocolate cake! So springy and light!
STILL celebrate anniversary after 10 years, TRUE!
Am “a hopeless romantic”, cannot help it too!
Orange peel prawns, laid out as a heart,
On a bed of sliced avocado as a start,
Chinese pork tenderloin, marinaded 36 hours with special sauce!
Was SO proud of myself (as never did make), was the main course!
Unfried fried rice as try to watch the waist,
All I heard hubby say was “mmmmmmm” re the taste!
TIM TAM TRUFFLES, I was SO E-X-C-I-T-E-D to make,
SO easy to do, NOTHING to bake!
Made them in two varieties; black forest and creme caramel in dark chcolate too,
The time it took to coordinate, hubby is SO worth it to do!
I gave a compliment to my best friend, ME!
Would LOVE one of these prize packs as Dandi tea towels ARE “gorgeous” and ABSOLUTELY LOVE Masterclass, always enjoyable to learn and see!
Fettuccine with a cream sauce consisting of mushrooms, double smoked ham, onion and prawns and served topped with avacado and snow pea sprouts.A also had as a side dish Rocket ,Parmesan and Macadamia Salad. It was a relaxed gathering and my cooking was very much appreciated and accompanied by sparkling Italian Asti Spumante.
Greetings NQN,
I have spent the past 4 weeks, upto 8 hrs a day, reading your whole blog (backwards hehe). While on the phone at work, which is pretty much all day, your blog has made my days so interesting and filled with cravings for the beautiful dishes you have experienced and created.
My internet bookmarks are filled with dishes I would like to try from your blog.
The last thing I made that I was proud of was a strawberry roulade as a test run for my sisters birthday. I shared it with my friends and look forward to making a bigger and better one for my sister. Thanks so much for your fanastic blog!
I made a simple marinated porterhouse steak done in kecap manis, sesame oil and garlic, served with smashed potatoes and a luscious green salad with homemade balsamic dressing.
Proud of it because it’s the first really awesome meal I’ve made since I had my baby boy!! It was SO DELICIOUS!!!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MASTERCHEF, i was rooting for POH all the way! but anyway, the last dish i made that i was truly proud of was a Chocolate Molten Cake, or rather, Chocolate pots because it absolutely blew my father’s mind away when he had a taste of it and that was possibly one of the very few things I did that made him proud of me, seeing as I am not much of a person. I’d love to win that Master Chef DVD. But then again, so does everyone else on this page! ah well, crossing my fingers!
XX
Spaghetti with meatballs. I normally make them with minced beef, but I added some minced pork this time. Plus, I didn’t use lean minced (if you know what I mean)for extra flavour
Last night. Parmesan risotto.
I rock the risotto.
This week I picked up a beautiful secondhand pasta maker and have been working with my 3 year old to figure out the process. Cooking dinner for an Italian neighbour just out of hospital was just the.. uh.. incentive (!) I needed to get it right. So we made fettucine and tossed a (bought) mediterranean salsa through it. Added capers and pepper parmesan, and I thought it was pretty good, if I do say so myself!
Hi Lorraine
The last dish I made that I’m proud of would have to be last night’s dinner- lamb kofta(ish) from the CSIRO kids wellbeing plan- the cherub loved it, as did the husband.
Thanks for the opportunity.
As a lover of tea towels with a 10 year old step son that idolised Masterchef… I am going to tell you about a mutual proud…. Out of The Silver Spoon for Children cookbook that I gave him for christmas he made me the orange cake – his cake had the most amazing orange flavour. It is flat cake with only 100g of flour… My guests that were here ask him for the recipe! We both had a grin from ear to ear
I often feel proud when I make something and people request the recipe- the last item that caused this reaction was a chocolate mousse cake- crisp outer and gooey fudgy inner but light as air.
hi there! well it may sound simple but the last dish i was really proud of was the humble apple pie.
I have never really be one to make desserts before so this was my first attempy at pastry and it was delicious if i do say so myself!! =)
Hi Lorraine
I made my very own hot cross buns and they actually worked!!!! Eat your heart out Bakers Delight.
I’ve been slowly tackling all my lebanese grandmother’s recipes- and most recently i was quite pleased with my attempt at Cusa in lubin (white zucchini stuffed with lamb mince and rice and cooked in a yoghurt and mint sauce). My zucchini hollowing technique could still use a little refining though.
by the way FABULOUS blog! makes me drool at work and fills me with wonderful ideas for fun outings!
The last meal i made that i was super impressed with was handmade spinach and ricotta tortellini with a oven roasted tomatos and asparagus. It was my first attempt at making pasta (which usually spells culinary disaster
) however they turned out perfectly by some freak of nature! they were totally delicious, the pasta texture was just right, substantial but not dry
The process of thinning the dough with a pasta maker and then hand forming the tortellini was super fun (took me back to the days of preschool and playdoh!)
I followed your instructions to the letter and I’m proud to say my Summer Berry Pudding looked just like the pictures , was easy to make and tasted delicious . I know you made this dish to spoil your husband , so I made it with love to share with my wife and daughter , now I’m right in the good books .
Thanks NQN
Tonight I made a classic – Roast Beef (done rare of course) with yorkshire puddings; roast potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes; steamed peas, brocolli, cauliflower and brussell sprouts with oodles of butter, and the best gravy.
Good old apple crumble. Made it for dessert tonight for dinner with the in-laws. Served with a good quality vanilla icecream it never fails to please!
I’d just like to say quickly, that, after all my baking, we transported all the items safely (80km), and my husband dropped the birthday cake getting it out of the box and on to the kitchen counter.
Such fleeting perfection!
Mine was a lamb roast ( yes in summer) but it was well recieved by the family. Complete with home made gravy and mint sauce, baked potato, sweet potato , pumpkin and cauliflower gratin- yum!
the last thing i made i was proud of was my nutty chocolate caramel slice which i made to take to work for my birthday.as i work in an operation theatre and the great cooks that work there i had great accolates to the morishness of this little marvel. hey i aim to please.you can’t beat chocolate, sugar and butter!
i made a special chocolate cake for a friend’s 40th yesterday. kathryn is a chocoholic, so i combined her favourites – a thin layer of moist chocolate cake, topped with a seriously velvety smooth chocolate mousse and meringue. the mousse was wonderful – light, but not aerated at all.
the canapes and main course were pretty good too, but the cake was the last thing served, so it’s my entry. if ever you want to try it, i’d lve to make it for you…..
On Wed we made steak with a blue cheese sauce, cubed fried potatoes, and a pomegranate salad.
Since taking up vege garden nearly 2 years ago, I
… and proudly created my original ‘Lemon Pine Chicken Curry’ which had a myriad of wonderful colourful capsicum, along with pineapple, garden herbs, Mushrooms, Lemon Grass, Chilli & much more.
overenthusiastically found myself with an abundance of various yummy treats. It was time to summon the budding chef out in me also.
So one fine day after a pleasant day in the vege patch, I harvested my first capsicum… about 30 of them
This was my proudest cooking moment, and the catalyst for many dishes since
ok, i’m not sure if this is a dish. But the last edible thing I made and am proud of is a rum and raisin ice cream ( substituted the raisins with fruit mix without the glazed cherries)which I made for a Christmas pot luck night in my house. I attempted this for the first time and all my relatives were proud of the successful attempt. Most of my aunts questioned me in disbelief when I told them “I MADE it!” Yes, from scratch!
*double gleam!

Well, I guess I deserve a pat on my head because of the effort I put in googling several recipes and combining them together, changing it slightly to suit the ingredients I have. That being said, making ice cream perhaps isn’t THAT challenging compared with making a dish with a name you can’t even pronounce or flipping crepes in the air. Nonetheless, I’m proud of my ice cream considering I’m only 19 years old, made it without any help from my mum, and it was the first ice CREAM I made that turned out CREAMy. Plus, my aunt who’s fab in cooking herself asked me for the recipe!
Those tea towels are so pretty – would make such good props!
Oooh exciting!
I can’t even remember the last meal I cooked I was proud of. I’ve been on holiday for 6 weeks and haven’t been cooking. I made a risotto two weeks ago but I wasn’t happy with it really.
Maybe a super thin-crust summery pizza before I left.
note from Northern California: Go Australia – is anyone doing a series on what the gold winners like to eat???????? their homey recollections?????????
very proud I made a creme brulee that turned out beautifully. Was inspired to try by My Kitchen Rules & the family was very happy that I was inspired
mmm quite an easy question for me, it would have to be the coconut meringue cake – so easy to make, although i am not always a big fan of flaked/shredded coconut, it was enjoyed by me and my loved ones
my last dish.. gosh i’ll have to think way back.. since i can’t cook and my mum+bf shower me with food.. i’m kinda useless in that department now.
BUT i did make a big choc chip cookie cake and a lemon meringue pie once.. last year.. which i was utterly proud of. (a part from the fact that it was out of a box and i only need eggs butter and milk…)
Porterhouse steak with cream and fresh mushroom sauce. Not so good for the hips but who cares when it tastes this good
The last dish that I made that I was truly proud f was the home-made spinach lasagne for Daring Bakers – I have never made anything like it before or since, and for me, it is the pinnacle of my achievements so far.
I FINALLY BBQ-ED SOME STEAK THAT WAS EDIBLE AND TASTY AND TENDER,AND MY FAMILY WAS ASTOUNDED THAT IT WAS CHEWABLE. THIS MIRACLE WAS ACCOMPLISHED AFTER GOING BACK THROUGH OLD MASTER CLASS EPISODES AND NOTICED THAT THE STEAK WENT INTO THE OVEN AFTER SEALING–MAKES A BIT OF A DIFFERENCE WHEN ITS DONE PROPERLY
the last dish i was proud of was the oven baked scallop with cauliflower puree and chives. yum yum cauliflower puree tastes so good.
Khanom Pang Na moo it is called. Thai dish that mean deep-fried minced pork on white bread. i can say it the best appetizer that i have ever made. tasty, crunchy, and most important is everyone loved it
we were having chinesse new year dinner and at first i was affraid that i made a bit too much but end up everyone are craving for more…
The last dish I made that I was proud of were my first home made sausages. I minced the steak myself and added garlic, tomato paste and thyme.
It took most of the day to find a technique that worked. Firstly, my mincer didn’t have the right attachment. Living 1600km from my nearest capital city required MacGuyver-like problem solving skills in the hardware store.
Finally sufficiently armed, I found myself insufficiently handed. I only have two, not five! Ideally, one person would crank the handle, add meat and push it in, and another person would hold the casing on the attachment and support the sausage as it grows. It was slow going by myself, but I did it in the end.
My partner arrived home to a messy kitchen, me not making much sense and 8 sausages. He declared them very good indeed and proceeded to help me clean up
I went to Huntley Berry Farm in Orange after reading your story on them, I bought fresh Silven Berries that I picked (& tasted while I was picking), Then I took them home & stewed them up, then made the most scrumptious pie that we have ever had, We had to go out again the next weekend & picked mixed berries to bake some more for the family
3 cheese , herb and mushroom quiche. It has been years since I made a quiche and with vegetarians coming for dinner, I thought it would be OK. It was very well rec’d and the comment was ” I haven’t had quiche for years” MAGIC.
I have been obsessing with making marshmallows for months now and despite the various forums I have read about how easy it is to make I was still a bit skeptical if I’d be able to pull it off or not.
Fears aside I gave it a go yesterday. It takes 12 hours to set so this morning I eagerly got out of bed and ran straight to my Marshmallow to encounter a blob of perfect, fluffy sweetness. Now I can experiment with flavored Marshmallow!
View my pic of fluffy goodness:

I made a deliciously smooth and creamy baked cheesecake with a passionfruit topping last week when we had friends to dinner. It looked wonderful and tasted amazing.
I had a salad for lunch yesterday at Toby’s Estate in Woolloomooloo, went shopping that afternoon adn recreated the salad for dinner, the dressing was not quite spot on, but it was close, and the hubby loved it!! (quite an achievement for a salad)
Great post!
Hmm probably my healthy-fied lasagne with ricotta and spinach
Chilli Con Carne! made to perfection !
Coriander Ginger chicken. It is our never fail dinner party dish along with Mo Po tofu.
Honey Soy Chicken Wings! Simple but tasty
I made cold rolls on Saturday, have loved them for ages but didn’t realise they were so easy to do. Also made a yummy dipping sauce and my guests loved them.
Looking for a recipe that would really impress, my wife and I found a recipe for Octopus Terrine by Stefano Manfredi. It was so visually spectacular I wish I could send you a photo ! and of course it tasted fantastic.
White chocolate & raspberry cheesecake. A dessert to make my guests feel honoured!!
I made the most stunning Fish Curry on Sunday night. I used Blue Eye Cod and gently poached it in a sauce made with garlic, ginger, onions, garam masala, turmeric, paprika and chicken stock. I finished it with some lovely thick Greek yoghurt and a squeeze of freshly squeezed lime juice…Amazing!
I made a really simple but satisfying salad yesterday, the thing I am most proud of is that both my girls tried it! Roasted butternut squash on a bed of fresh baby spinach with toasted pine nuts and crumbled feta. I made a dressing of virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a dash of whole grain mustard and a spoonful of brown sugar to cut through the acid. Lovely.
Hi Lorraine,
The last dish I made is a dessert and very easy too. I hosted an afternoon tea at my house this past weekend and it was a challenge considering my guests just started ‘lent’ and were strict with the no meat, no dairy diet.
So apart from fruit I was qutie stumped as to what to make. I was reading Women’s Health mag and came across a recipe by Alicia Silverstone on ‘chocolate peanut butter cups’. I glazed over the recipe and thought it was perfect! It used dairy free ingredients. Who knew there was dairy free chocolate and soy milk.
My guests LOVED it and likened them to a snickers bar in a cup! When push comes to shove, you can make anything! It was a simple dessert but so pleased that I could feed my 2 friends something apart from fruit! Btw love Dandi. I bought a table cloth over christmas. My new favorite store!!
I made a vanilla and chocolate swirled cheesecake for a dinner party we were invited to and it was a huge hit. I altered another recipe and it worked. I was so pleased, except there where no leftovers for me!
the last dish i made that i’m proud of is a shark fin soup for chinese new year eve dinner. not only was it my first time but it was taught by mum standing next to me, giving me instructions along the way. who knew that the next time i make it she would not be with us anymore ;(
The last dish I was really proud of? Bourke St Bakery’s Ginger Creme Brulee (I switched it from a tart.)
I made Tonkotsu Ramen! Simmered pork bones for 5 hours, then added a little soy.
I also cooked some pork ribs for a couple of hours in soy and mirin for topping. Then just added ramen noodles, soft boiled egg and bamboo to the broth! Phew, took time but it was sooo worth it!
I didn’t go as far as making my own noodles though lol!
I want!
I always thought it was hard to make pineapple tarts and I am also such a bad baker but I managed and did it.

Still pretty proud of myself and Mister
Please pick me!
Funnily enough, the last dish I made that I was proud of was (ashamed) the only dish I’ve made recently! My partner is an ex chef and loves to take control of the cook top, (which most of the time is ok by me, I’m head over heels in love with food, and his cooking.) It was G.Y.O Night (get your own) and I suggested a simple Tuna Pasta, nothing too flash, very quick and easy, VERY amateur for my partners like… so, of course, my partner turned up his nose at the idea, but we cooked it together anyway, it was all very experimental like… and… voila! The dish was a huge success and my partner was proud of ME! So how could I NOT be proud of it??
At 80 I still cook everyday. I have been making scones now for over 60 years. Always make them for the family on Sundays and I’m still proud of them!
Maybe the family will use the tea towels to do my dishes!
Nothing like walking out the back door, picking fresh strawberries, cutting the rhubarb and having strawberry & rhubarb jam on your toast the next morning….I’m proud of my jam.
well just tonight i made some banana and soy muffins which i was rather proud of, used up some old bananas at home and the muffins were lipsmackingly tasty
My best dish is crispy skin pork belly~ All I’ve used was salt, All Seasoning and Cinnamon powder~ Very simple! Would love to post a photo for you to have a look!
the last dish i made that i was proud of would have to be a mocha mudcake covered in choclate ganache. mmmmmmmmm.
Baked cheesecake, in my new pressure cooker believe it or not. And it was to die for, absolute perfection on a plate.
Gingered oranges with home made lavendar ice cream. Sounds simple enough, but I grew the oranges & ginger myself, and made the ice cream from scratch!
Scrambled eggs and fried bacon on toast. Served to my wife in bed, And I even cleaned up the mess, all by myself! Pretty incredible effort for a bloke that can’t even boil water (or turn the dishwasher on!!).
Not being an accomplished cook, I opened up the Masterchef cookbook/website and decided to do Gary’s Special Fried Rice. Oh My God it was delicous. The flavours and ingredients that went into it were fantastic and the colors beautiful. I suppose all I can say was that our son who hates rice asked for seconds, so that is saying something. Thanks Masterchef.
I made beef enchiladas tonight for the first time. My husband said if her wasn’t married to me already he would have to marry me for this dish!
A leftover lasagne that had everything from last nights dinner in it…yum!
I’m proud that I can make my family happy with a meal every night, so tonight’s CHICKEN AND PUMPKIN RED CURRY with jasmine rice wins for me. And with them too!
Just after I had my second child my Mum made the most delicious chicken dish for my husband and I. I had to get the recipe and have made it regularly since, its the strangest combination, chicken thighs marinated in olive oil, red wine vinegar, capers, olives, prunes and bay leafs and slowly cooked in the oven, served over fragrant rice. Heavenly. Its the meal my husband requests the most!
i cooked lamb shanks in a red wine sauce just so tender it melted in your mouth and just fell off the bone
I made a delicious pasta last night, quite simple Bolognese with Veal mince and Bacon and red wine (McGuigan Bros Black Label) and oodles of peas… Grilled tasty cheese on top… Yum…
I made Very Hungry Caterpillar Cupcakes for my 2 year old daughter on her birthday.
With the kind of day I am having I was proud of myself for just putting together a healthy lunch box for my daughter today. Homemade strawberry jam on wholewheat, apple slices, homemade banana muffin and a handful of grapes.
Peach cupcakes with cream cheese icing. I changed up a basic cupcake recipe, by adding peach puree with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg… and it turned out delicious! It was a hit with my family, which made me even proud-er!
Omelette – it’s the simple things in life that truly please me!
Lasagne – like my boyfriend – both are beefy, saucy between fresh sheets….!!!!

To tell you the truth I can’t remember the last time I made a meal that made me really proud.
We had friends round for dinner on Friday, I made a sticky chicken curry. Diced chicken thighs marinated in teriyaki sauce with brown sugar and oil roasted in a hot oven. Curry sauce is a couple of spoonfuls of thai garlic and basil sauce cooked out with two tins of coconut milk. Served over jasmine rice with fresh diced mango and red onion and lots of fresh coriander. Delicious!
Seafood Marinara as it was so tasty and I added extra prawns to it which made it tastier.
Last dish I made that I was reaaaaally proud of was a blueberry cheesecake that took me ages and actually made me cry during the cooking process. I thought I killed it! However, in the end, I tasted it and it was wonderful and my family loved it too. I had overcame the evil intentions of my dilapidated and broken oven to ruin my efforts again and BOY! WAS I PROUD! =]
The last dish I was really proud of was my daughter’s bday cake. The party theme was “Pirates & princesses”, so naturally the cake was a princess castle.
Let me tell you, for someone that hasn’t done bday cakes before, this one was a challenge. I’ve made 4 chocolate cakes in different sizes & assembled the “castle”. The icing was Mascapone Orange icing [recipe by Jamie Oliver” & then I decorated the castle [with the help of ice cream cones covered in icing too]. I don’t believe it was the best cake in the world, but when I took it out & all 20 kids got quiet and said “Wow”, I definitely felt like it was!
Thai Style Whole Snapper on the BBQ served with asian greens and crispy fried shallots. My Hubby said it was better than Red Lantern!!!!!! Also looked very impressive and the flavor….awesome

Ravioli Ricotta with Carbonara Sauce. The sauce was fantastic – I looked at a few recipes but then just kind of made it up and it worked perfectly. I was very proud of myself! Especially since it involved putting eggs in and I didnt stuff it up!
Spaghetti Bolognaise – turned out really well, the flavours fused well and the pasta was just right.
Hello, just found your blog and am loving it! The most recent thing I made that I was really proud of was chocolate and zucchini cupcakes. Sounds revolting, but you don’t taste the zucchini – they just keep the cakes lovely and moist. Give them a try!
I made vanilla cupcakes but decided to make them interesting by adding mini pink marshmallows to the mix. What a weird pattern you get on the top – the pink kind of oozes out and has a marbled effect. Yep, I was proud of those!
I made a quick snack by cutting the top off a bread roll, scooping out most of the bread, putting some butter and grated cheese inside, then cracking an egg in the hole. Add salt and pepper, replace the bread that was scooped out and the lid, and put in the oven until the egg is slightly firm. Yum – it turned out great.
The last dish I made that I was very proud of was Martin Boetz’s recipe for eggnets – not only was each mouthful a taste delight but for me it was challenging and I learnt so much along the way especially resourcing and buying and using ingredients I’ve never tried before. IT ALSO LOOKED JUST LIKE THE PICTURE.

I recently made mini lime tarts from Nigella Lawson’s Domestic Goddess. I was really proud of these because I had never made any sorts of tarts or anything – only cakes. I’m proud of these because the biscuit base was really hard to mould on the muffin tin but alas I did. The The tarts tasted more like cheesecakes but i was proud of them nevertheless – they were heaps yummy!

Jamie Oliver’s pot roast meatloaf. I’m not a fan of meatloaf but the picture looked good so I decided to give it a go. Have to say, the result was even better! The chickpea / tomato sauce was divine. It was definitely “comfort food” which was perfect on a cold night. Served with mashed potato just topped it off.
Pasta e’fagioli, I love, love, love this meal which I only discovered since moving to Australia. Its cheap and delicious and gets better the day after for leftovers.
Chocolate Mousse Cake that the Victorian boys made for their dinner party on My Kitchen Rules!!!! Also loved that it was a recipe that their mums cooked for them. See, it’s up to us mums to inspire our children to enjoy cooking and eating and creating opportunities to be around the table and in the kitchen together.
I enjoy baking and cooking for my family and I love to try new recipes.
I made Chicken Parmigianni the other day … it was delicious, just like the Chicken Parmigianni you get in the restaurants. My family were thrilled and I made some sticky date pudding for much later, because no-one could eat after this nice meal.

Just being able to cook a meal I am proud of as my 2 boys keep me so busy that sometimes I assemble a meal instead of actual cook one.

My dish is far from extravagant by any means but it was made with love. My 9year old son and 6year old daughter and I made a sticky date pudding together. We shared lots of laughs a heap of mess and a lovely memory. The satisfaction I got from this making this meal beats any fancy dish I have ever prepared.

The last dish I made which I was proud of was Chicken Parmigiana with eggplant on top. I wasn’t too sure about how it would turn out. But it was melt in the mouth delicious. Even fussy teen who wouldn’t normally eat eggplant cleaned it up and said how good it was.
I was most proud of my terrific gravy… This may sound trivial, but no matter what I did I could never get a perfect roast meat gravy. I can do packet mixes great, but never homemade. It was finally FABULOUS! Roast chicken juices mixed with rosemary, so proud! I love to cook and homemade is always delicious.
