Calling Carrie Bradshaw & Shoe Addicts! Win 20 Benjiboxes & Booty Shapers!

I know we all have a bit of Carrie Bradshaw in us and at last count I had over 140 pairs of shoes which is a slightly ridiculous state to be in considering I wear thongs or flip flops most of the time. But with shoes comes storage issues and I’m still waiting for my own Mr Big to build me a built in closet. Hmmmm…I might be waiting for a long time I suspect!

In lieu of having your own Mr Big and having your own custom made walk in closet here is a more practical solution to your shoe storage dilemmas. Benjiboxes are clear, stackable shoe storage boxes where you can store, stack and see your shoes before taking them out. The cleverest part of these that makes them a bit different from other ones is that the drawer simply slides out from the front so you can retrieve your shoes easily and keep the boxes in order. They also have booty shapers which you slide into your long boots to help them keep their shape and these come in really cute designs too! Perfect for the organisation buff!

And for one week only, Benjibox is offering an exclusive offer to NQN readers. Buy a 5 pack of Benjibox clear shoe boxes for just $14.75  plus postage (that’s $35 off the regular price of $49.75). Just enter the coupon code NQN during checkout. Unfortunately, there is a limit of 1 x 5 pack per customer at this trial price, but check out www.benjibox.com.au to see other great specials on the larger packs.

Thanks to the lovely people at Benjibox, one lucky Not Quite Nigella reader will win a 20 pack of Benjibox shoe boxes  worth $140 plus a set of booty shapers worth $12.95 to hold up your favourite boots! For a chance to win this all you have to do is tell me about your favourite pair of shoes and why you love them! Simply add your answer as a comment to the story. The competition ends at midnight AEST 26th March, 2011. You can enter this  competition once daily and it is open to anyone in Australia.

***The winner is: Anna J.!***

Best of luck!

Lots of love,

Lorraine

What fantastic organization things they are, Lorraine. :-) I don’t have near the collection you do, but confess some of the ones I do have are purely there because they’re beautiful, like works of art. I never wear them. :-) I’m so excited I can enter your giveaways now that I have an Aussie address. :-)

As soon as I saw them in the magazine I had to have them. I phoned cosmopolitan shoes and had them send them up ASAP and I have loved them since. Sonya Rykiel animal print with a metallic flower. They are a few years old now but were so different they were never IN style therefore never really out of style. They always get a reaction when I wear them and make my legs look great…..I think I might go into my closet and sit with them for a while now.

Whilst rummaging around a secondhand store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I happened upon these amazing shoes: sky high, almond-toed, deliciously red ombre patent-leather pumps. They fit like a dream, were made in Italy and are still in beautiful condition. Oh, and they were $15.

As for why they are my favourite? See above please! :P

140 pairs?! I have about 30 and I’m struggling to find places to store them. Do you have a little house for your shoes?

My over-the-jeans boots that I wear almost every day in winter. They’re brown with buttons, and a bit of a vintage vibe, and they make me feel almost stylish enough to live in Surry Hills!

My favorite are a low heeled – necessary due to a back injury – bright patented red full shoes. I always feel special when I have them on, like Dorothy.

Oh my, what a lovely prize. My favourite shoes to wear are probably my Fit Flops. They might not look flash, but they are so very comfortable. Supposedly, they also tone my butt and thigh muscles as I walk, but if that’s the case it’s an added bonus. (And they certainly have their work cut out for them).
My other faves are a pair of seude boots I got for the markdown price of NZ$20. They are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn, and the cheapest also!

My favourite shoes are a pair of Colorado wood/leather platforms.
THey are a dressy blue leather yet can look just as good on a night out as they can for a picnic at the beach.Soo Comfortable too.

My favourite pair of shoes are the leather boots I bought at the markets in Florence. I started wearing them as soon as i got them and I wore them for the rest of my honeymoon in Europe. They take me back to Europe everytime I put them on :)

I’m an avid collector of old shoes that have great sentimental values to me.

My little ballet shoes – Thanks to mum, I still have them to this day. They remind me of the good old days as a nine year old, putting on the shoes after school for my weekly ballet lessons. I love the passion and invigorating feeling bouncing around the hall on my dancing shoes wearing my tutus. My sweet affair with ballet was cut short prematurely however when Dad lost his job in the late 80s (due to global financial crisis) as he couldn’t afford the expensive ballet lessons anymore. Those shoes came with so much heart, sweat and tears. I still have them to this day to remind me of those unfulfilled dreams.

There are other shoes that are dear to me, like the lovely golden sandals that belonged to Grandma. It’s like a family heirloom and comes with a unique piece of jade shaped like a phoenix. There is so much tradition and history (Grandma wore them on her wedding day). They don’t quite fit my feet but I love them just as much for the sentimental values.

It’d be great to win the Benjibox shoe boxes. My shoe collection will take pride of place in my home museum for my viewing pleasure. I guess I’m a cross between Carrie Bradshaw and Charlotte York in a way ;-)

It will have to be my very first Ferragamo shoes-which I still have- as I saved so hard for it when I first started working years ago.

  • 17. Cheryl | February 26th, 2011 at 11:03 am | #

Wow! 140 pairs of shoes! Move over Imelda!
I have a vast collection of flats, as this is all my feet will accept, as I have bunions and a hammertoe that is crossed for good luck.
My favourite shoes are my old Brooks, extra wide walking shoes, nothing fancy, just sheer comfort, so the dogs and i can go on our treks.

  • 18. MissJane | February 26th, 2011 at 11:32 am | #

Most of my shoes I love. However I have a pair of boots I bought 18 months ago. Full price I couldn’t justify because of lots of other footwear. But on sale, easy. A gorgeous mocha brown, stunning when worn with dresses or with jeans tucked in our out. Very comfy too.

  • 19. Shirley@kokken69 | February 26th, 2011 at 11:34 am | #

I have almost as close a collection as you and likewise, I find myself wearing the same few pairs most of the time. These boxes are lovely for organization but unfortunately, I won’t have the space to stack them up….

  • 20. EHA | February 26th, 2011 at 11:56 am | #

Oh goodness – I did not dare be honest earlier, as my first choice would take a prize in any contest for the plainest and least fashionable! But, Lorraine, you have an admirably honest following, so – I bought a pair of black knitted flatties with rubbery soles from ‘Innovations’ some six years ago for about $60! I would not know I have them on, they grip onto any surface, uneven included and, since I live in slacks, are barely noticeable. Six years of everyday wear – can’t complain!!

  • 21. Anna | February 26th, 2011 at 12:02 pm | #

    So many shoes….only two feet….Sad!!
Question: how can a comfy flat sandal be dangerously Rock ‘n’ Roll?
Well, Barbara Bui had the answer when she designed my current favourites….black leather with silver buckles, and silver rings around the chunky ankle strap – when I wear them I feel like I really mean business!

  • 22. Stephanie De Santis | February 26th, 2011 at 12:08 pm | #

My favourite pair of shoes are fabric red and white polka dot 8 inch mary janes I purchased in New Zealand. every time I wear them people comment favourably. They are so cute and even though I can normally only stand to wear them for two hours their feminity and ageless quality wins out everytime.

  • 23. Stephanie De Santis | February 26th, 2011 at 12:12 pm | #

My favourite pair would be the red and white polka dot 8 inch mary janes I bought in New Zealand about 6 years ago. Their timeless beauty are a hit every time I wear them. And even though they cause me untold amounts of pain, I persist through as they make me feel feminine and beautiful. Silly perhaps…but I love them.

  • 24. Lulu | February 26th, 2011 at 12:19 pm | #

Oh – let me tell you about my current favourite shoe (note the singular!) – its an ‘air-cast’ boot: its massive and grey and covered in buckles and velcro, and you can pump air into it! Stylish it is not (unless you’re into that kind of thing, *wink*), but it means i will be able to run again (eventually) and it gets me seats on buses.
(by the way, i don’t actually want the benji boxes, as i keep my shoes in their original boxes, but just thought i’d add my two cents worth anyway) xx

  • 25. Nomsie | February 26th, 2011 at 12:40 pm | #

They are such a great idea for us storage poor people of the world…my favourite shoes would have to be my “wonder woman” boots, they are gorgeous red boots, not quite knee high, more like mid calf length…they go well with all my vintage outfits :)

  • 26. Hannah | February 26th, 2011 at 1:03 pm | #

My favourite pair are the heels I bought at Harvard in America, which I think I’ve posted on my blog. They have wooden heels andcover almost the entire foot with green fabric, and tie at the back. They make me feel fabulous when I wear them :)

And I am so, so envious of your 140 pairs…

  • 27. Stefania | February 26th, 2011 at 1:22 pm | #

Whilst planning our trip to the US a few years I go jokingly referred to the trip as my Jimmy Choo shopping trip – so in NYC I fell in love (seriously) with this pair http://christianlouboutinnyc.com/jimmy-choo-black-satin-patience-jeweled-slingback-pumps-p-674.html and just had to buy them so I did with my hubby’s encouragement and support! Can I just say I love shoes have a lovely collection but these take pride of place and unfortunately due to the extensive shopping was unable to bring home it’s original ‘home’ – needs somewhere special to rest in between the making me feel ‘pretty’ nights!! PS: The price quoted on this website is cough cough considerably less than what I paid – but I don’t care I love them! Lol

My absolute favourite pair of shoes at the moment is my New Balance Toning Shoes as they give my legs a great work-out and lovely toned appearance so that they look fab in any of my gorgeous collection of flattering boots and daring stilettos!

A pair of leather boots I bought brand new at a garage sale. They had a $10 sticker on the bottom. I asked if they were really only $10. The lady said “NO! NO! NO!,they are worth $600 someone must have swapped the prices” (i don’t know if she was implying I had, I definitely hadn’t). She must of seen the look of disappointment on my face, so she kindly said if they fit me I could have them for $10.These boots were going to fit me no matter what(a bit like a cinderella story), I had fallen in love with them and even more knowing they were so pricey! They now have pride of place in my wardrobe are a little big but I just wear thick socks!!!!

  • 32. Ophelia | February 26th, 2011 at 5:54 pm | #

My favourite shoes are… the $1500 pair I just bought in Sydney. They are the Carrie Bradshaw shoes. And I mean THE Carrie Bradshaw shoes. The Manolo Blahnik blue high heels she christens her new wardrobe with in the movie. THOSE shoes. I now own a pair. They will be loved forever.

Wow! haha…140~that’s unheard of! Aside from you. :P Hmm I don’t really have fancy/brand name shoes, but my favorite is the pair of mid-heel booties with elastic ‘faux’ straps that criss-cross. It’s hard to explain! It’s from Korea I believe. Thanks Lorraine!

My fav pair of shoes are these lovely Siren wedges I picked up a week ago. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of wearable wedge heels for ages and these are perfect (waiting for the right shoes to come along do pay off). The shoes are leather, the heel isn’t too high and the wedge of the shoe isn’t one of the usual chunky ones you find but slim and stylish. Since wearing them, I just can’t stop raving about them

  • 38. Judy | February 26th, 2011 at 8:07 pm | #

My daughter was buying a pair of boots and there was a special of buy one and get the second pair for half price.

She didn’t want another pair so she asked me if I did.

I got them for $30 so I was rapt!

I have all the shoes and boots I can use, and then some. My favorite “boots” are mukluks. They
    have silicone-soled moccasin feet
with rabbit fur legs lined with wool and they close with fat ties of soft leather crisscrossing up the outer side. Only three crisscrosses. Stylish. Most comfortable things I have ever worn. By the by, for boot shapers, I use the pillowy packaging that comes with mail orders. Works like a charm!

My fav pair of shoes is a $20 knee length boots bought from my local Op shops. It was my first time buying a second hand shoes from Ops shop but it was my best purchase. Everytime i wear my boots I try to imagine what the previous owner style and design and at the same time I try to style it with my own designs. Love it to bits.

Probably a pair of Chanel-esque cream quilted flats with a black patent cap. I definitely couldn’t afford the real thing but when I saw this pair of shoes in Wittner I was in love! But as a student, I couldn’t afford the $130 pair either… so I waited until they went on sale and nabbed the last pair for $40!! Beautiful shoes at a bargain price…? Definitely my fave pair ;)

Having already told you about my favourite Rock ‘n’ Roll sandals, I should tell you about my other most favourite shoes….the gorgeous Hermes booties that belong to my premmie teeny-tiny great-nephew Tobey, who at age 300 days is still in hospital. Can’t wait for him to come home, and when his feet finally touch the ground, can’t wait to hold his hand as he struts his stuff in the finest baby shoes in the whole wide world!

    My silver Gizeh Birkenstocks…

Although on their last legs, they still have a special place in my wardrobe.

These shoes have seens sights others can only dream of in New York, Hawaii, Beijing, Shanghai, X’ian, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bali, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

Their cracked cork soles and worn tread remind me of the amazing times I’ve had travelling and that my comfortable choice of footwear allowed me to walk that extra two blocks where I found a quaint secret garden, climbed the steepest steps up the Great Wall of China, discovered a local pub where I met new friends and created lifetime memories…

OMG…. LOVE! This little invention is fantastic, I’ve seen these little boxes around the traps and I popped them onto my dream board.
My absolute favourite pair of shoes and I don’t like to play favourites, but, they are gold stilettos with CZ stones lining the foot strap and the ankle strap, they lace up elegantly around your ankle and wearing them does that thing every gal loves to her legs. To boot they are super comfy, and just gorgeous to wear. They live on a shelf where no other shoes can touch them or damage them.

Purchased in Verona, my love for my navy patent and multi-coloured strapped shoes, was as great as that of Romeo and Juliet. Sadly, they came to an equally tragic end. T’is true “parting is such sweet sorrow”. If only I had protected them with Benjiboxes it would have been the greatest shoe love story of all time.

I have a pair of Paris Hilton brown stiletto boots that were $299 – twice the price I normally spend on shoes. Despite the high heel they are comfortable to walk in, they look fab on, and make me a feel a little bit Paris-Hilton-sexy when I have them on.

  • 84. cheryl | March 6th, 2011 at 10:30 am | #

A pair of khaki mid length boots, I tried them on, walked around, put them down, looked at the price tag, and thought some more, scanned my credit card out the door.

My favourite pair of shoes is a pair of shoes given to me by a kind-hearted lady;she doesn’t even know me; she gave me this pair of shoes because her daughter told her that I need a pair of shoes. And she gave me a pair of high quality shoes of hers, which she never has worn.

My fake “Manolo BLANKS”, “Christian LouboutinI, and FendiN from a market in China are not quite in the same fashion CHANEL as Carrie. But I just love my Jimmy CHEW. They look almost as good as the real thing and if you look quickly you miss the wrong spelling. Best of all, the shoes have lasted through the neighbour’s dog, Jimmy, (who somehow has learnt how to spell), constant chewing on them!

A favourite you say? You want me to choose?
My old faithful sandals I wear every day,
My killer high heels I struggle to walk in but just had to have anyway,
The boots that look good tucked into my jeans,
Or my gardening sneakers when I’m being ‘green’,
I’m sorry my friends I just cannot choose,
I’m absoltely in love with all of my shoes.

My Guess platform wedges. I am stuck in ‘sensible’ shoes every day due to my job so I love to step out in heels and these are high platforms but extremely comfortable. My favourite saying is “most people were born in hospital, I was born in heels”.

I have a pair of Wittner peep toe leather mules with a 12cm heel. My friends are envious when I’m still wearing them hours after they’ve removed theirs – but they are so soft and comfortable I could wear them all night long (possibly even to bed!).

  • 116. Jessica Tibbits | March 21st, 2011 at 12:31 am | #

  • 119. Jo Deller | March 21st, 2011 at 11:28 pm | #

My favourite pair of shoes are a black high heeled pair made for me in 1981 when I was a teenager because I have size 11 feet which were impossible to find shoes for back then, they are still in fantastic condition and get regular use. The man who made them worked in a tiny shoe factory in Chippendale/Redfern and he was so lovely and complimentary to a shy suburban girl that I always feel good when I wear the shoes and remember him….

  • 120. Shezza | March 22nd, 2011 at 5:14 am | #

  • 121. Kara | March 22nd, 2011 at 7:21 am | #

It sounds silly, but my favourite pair would have to be my daggy old work shoes. I work in child care so they are always covered in sand, spit, dirt and sometimes other yucky things I won’t mention lol. But I spend close to 40 hours a week in them, they are comfortable and they are my favourite pair of shoes :)

My wedding boots. They’re very old world ankle boots, white leather, that lace up with a tiny heel. I adore them because every woman in our family has worn them on her special day, and I can continue to love them until one day I must pass them on to my daughter. They’re in such great condition for old shoes, and amazingly we’ve all had the same sized feet!

My favourite pair of shoes is my “organ playing shoes”. It’s actually a pair of jazz-shoes (dancing shoes) that has been modified by adding about 0.5cm of leather heels. Those shoes have earned their keep many times over. I use them to play pipe organ – I’m an organist by trade! :)

My favorite “Nite on the Town” shoes are a great pair of Italian boots I bought in Chicago over 10 years ago and because I’ve treated them with a lot of TLC (and they’re very well made), they still look like new.

My favorite “at home kick back” shoes are my soft ankle high fluffy booties. :-)

PS: I also L-O-V-E this website! The design is so well thought out and the recipes are abolutely fantastic! :-)

  • 155. Gabby | March 26th, 2011 at 1:00 pm | #

I love my pair of Miss Jacq satin pumps, patent black heel topped with an effusion of electric blue, carmine red, fuschia and tangelo gyspy style flowers. Being satin they cannot be worn on a rainy day which can be risky in Melbourne, and if there is a hint of dirt or sand I have to perform a series of (hopefully) lady like skips and jumps to avoid these gems hitting the ground for too long. I know every woman (and no doubt some men too)who has a pair of shoes they wish they could go back in time and purhase 5 identical pairs, this is that pair for me.

Ooh, it’d be either my brown heeled cowboy boots (well similar style anyhow, but less obvious, so they’re not really ‘trendy’ and likely to go out of style) or a pair of bronze beaded flat sandals that I love to wear during summer – they make me feel pretty and exotic.

  • 160. Tash Nowland | March 26th, 2011 at 8:30 pm | #

My trusty old joggers are my fave because I can be walking my dogs in the bush or planning mouth watering meals for my family while scouring the markets for unusual ingredients. They have even taken me to the greatest views looking out over Sydney harbour, standing right on top of the bridge.
