It’s no secret that Donna Hay is a tour de force in Australia. Her cookbooks are fantastic (I own four of them) and she has the cutest shop in Woollahra which I visited a few months ago. All Donna Hay lovers out there rejoice! Thanks to the lovely people at Donna Hay Home we have a beautiful new Donna Hay navy blue market tote bag for our latest giveaway worth $79.95! This is a spacious canvas tote with leather handles in shades of ocean, navy, orange and taupe that is perfect for shopping (food shopping of course) but would be equally at home boutique shopping. It’s selling out pretty quickly so here’s your chance to own one (and they only went on sale in the store this week so you’ll be one of the first to get your hot little hands on one!). It will be sent to one lucky winner along with a note from Donna herself!

One of my favourite Donna Hay recipes would have to be the Thai Beef Salad from Modern Classics 1. It’s fantastic – it gets that authentic Thai Beef Salad flavour with a minimum of fuss. I love it.
I love, love, love her chocolate and coconut melt and mix cake recipe. We turn it into cupcakes and the kids love them {as do I}.
I have almost every cookbook of Donna’s… including her very early one: At My Table.
I also went to a dinner/night/thing with Donna. She was on stage showing everyone how to cook a 3 course meal… and after she presented each course… we all got to eat it {along with some delicious wines}. It was a really good night.
Anyway I’m off my stalker box now.
wow!! those bags are soo pretty! but sad that i haven’t tried ne of her recipes
still those haloween goblin pies look soo soo cute! >.<
Great pies and bags! I’d love to be the lucky winner…
Cheers,
Rosa
Queen of Quick Donna Hay! Woot!
My fave (and much tested) recipe of hers is her little passionfruit cheesecakes – Oh thanks for the reminder, I’m SO going to make them this week!!
OOOHHHH I use Donna’s recipe for choc chip cookies that featured in one of her Christmas magazines a few years ago. They have just the right amount of crunch and chewiness.
I became an expert at making them after i made 250 Choc Chip and 250 macadamia and white chocolate biccies for my wedding!
I had a biccie buffet with 4 types of biccies, 3 of which i baked myself (The other two were ANZAC’s and Maltese Almonb biccies- those i didn’t dare make).
I’m new to Donna Hay, but definitely had fun exploring her website. The peppery prosciutto and mozzarella french toast recipe looks fabulous to me! I’d feel so elegant food shopping with that bag! Pick me! Pick me!
My fave Donna Hay recipe is squid with crispy herbs and leek- even though mine never quite look the same as in ‘no time to cook’ – still delicious!
Oh, I would love to win this! My favorite recipe, so far, is the turkey patties – so yum!
http://www.chezus.com/2009/03/13/turkey-lemongrass-patties/
Far too many to choose from but one outstanding recipe was the Chocolate Truffle Cake from Modern Classics Book 2 (pg82) ….looks complicated but not at all instructions were clear and easy to follow – made it when the book first came out and has become a favourite! DH books and magazines are fantastic – and the store <3
Oh this is fantastic and I’m going to enter because I love Donna Hay! Because I started off this great food adventure baking cakes and sweets, I think it’s only fitting to crown her Chocolate Mud Cake recipe from her Simple Essentials Chocolate book as my most favourite! Everything in this recipe, nay, this book, oozes with Donna Hay: simple yet beautiful recipes that is easily transcribable from Donna Hay to her audience (us!). Oh, and the Chocolate Mud Cake was spectacular too!
ooooo there are a couple tried and tested in our house.
the chicken, leek and mushroom pizza was delish
lately i’ve been making her classic baked cheesecakes in their various forms – double chocolate, lime and coconut and natural.
oh and each christmas i make her gingerbread cookies and ice them up nice and good! even last year when i was 8mth pregnant!
ps. well i supervised my sister icing the gingerbread stars and trees last year!
Ohh excellent bags! I haven’t here but I’m sure that a recipe with chocolate and coffee must taste super
I’m adding this competition right now to my blog!
All the best,
Gera
I’m moving states for a fresh exciting bright new start in life, closer to the ocean & I can see the Ocean colour Donna Hay Market Tote Bag for my life & fashion to match
I adore Donna’s first book “At My Table” Fresh and simple food. I have cooked so many memorable meals from this book. My favourite recipe from the book is “Chocolate Cake for a Glass of Milk” which is a lovely old fashioned chocolate cake
As I am on a verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy restricted diet right now(gallstones & hiatus hernia
) I am almost living on her pasta with summer herbs. (No Time To Cook pg112)
One of our fave Donna Hay dishes is Thai caramelised pork salad from her book Off the shelf. We have all her books (signed & all) and subscribe to her magazine. We are totally addicted. I met Donna at her first luncheon she held in Sydney, it was the best girls day out in a long time. Bring back the Donna Hay luncheons. If you visit her shop try the macaroons they are delicious.
Just love Donna Hay’s cheesecakes..they are so easy to make and always look impressive on the table! Love the bags..
I am new to Donna Hay, as well, but found a lemon parsley chicken recipe that looks amazing.
Hip Hip Hooray to Donna Hay – my Donna Hay favourite is Wok-fried Salt and Pepper Crab. We can get mud crabs from local mangrove creeks, I grow chillies in my garden, so hey – it’s a cheap sensational meal!
My family is big on brunch – I love Donna’s Mini Spinach Pies. They are elegant, yet uncomplicated. (Kind of like a lot of the recipes on Not Quite Nigella.) Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.
I totally agree with some of the other gals….UMMM…Y-E-S…Donna’s ‘cheesecakes’…YUM!!!
Donna Hay’s Chocolate Caramel Slice!!! I’m making this for my caramel-loving sister when she comes to visit in October.
Mmmmm caramel, I smile when I hear that word! maybe I need to make a ‘test’ batch right now, lol!
The peach and raspberry tart in Off the Shelf. I substitute whatever fruit I have – often pear – and often use spelt flour and baking powder instead of the self raising flour. It works out a treat every time.
My favourite has got to be the lemon curd biscuits from the Spoon story. The spoon hollow in the biscuit filled with lemon curd has been really popular with everyone.
The page splattered with fish sauce and coconut cream lets me know that satay chicken from the 10 minute meals book is definitely my favourite. Quick, fresh and flavoursome.
My fav Donna Hay recipe is the ‘Simple Lemon Pudding’ from Instant Entertaining – much easier to make the lemon Delicious Pudding and so tasty!!!
The food processor brownies from Off The Shelf are a firm favourite in our house! They are so easy and always a crowd pleaser. I’m such a fan and can’t wait to visit the shop next time I’m in Sydney.
What a great giveaway! Oooh, it’s so hard to choose a favorite! One of my favorites is Donna’s Saffron Porcini Risotta Cakes!
I reckon it’s seasonal.. The double chocolate chip cookie recipe in her Chocolate book is phenomenal. The last time I made these my children and husband devoured them warm and melting – they were speechless! (This is best to indulge in on a cold wet Sydney winter day.) For speedy summer meals, I reckon the garlic beef with spiced couscous in Food Fast is amazing – and gave me a love of couscous!
Best Donna Hay recipe for me would be the Basic and Speedy Brownie from Off The Shelf. The ingredients are pantry staples, so you can always whip up a batch and the recipe works really well if you need it to be gluten and egg free.
I haven’t tried any of her recipes yet… but this one http://www.donnahay.com.au/recipes/209-fresh-tuna-mint-and-cucumber-rice-paper-rolls/
Sounds absolutely amazing…I’ve been craving raw tuna… @_@
Without a doubt it is the little flourless chocolate cakes. I couldn’t count how many times I have made these delicious beauties, and every time I go to an afternoon tea I get asked to bring ‘those yummy little chocolate cakes’!!!
Rasberry Mousse so easy to mark but it looks so special in a slendid pale pink shade but with flavour to boot.
I absolutely love Donna Hays classic chocolate cake recipe. turns out fluffy and yummy everytime!
Definately chocolate cupcake ice-creams. The recipe is published on her website. http://www.donnahay.com.au/recipes/473-chocolate-cupcake-ice-creams/ Check it out! Such a cute idea and they get snapped up in seconds! Better still there are no annoying paper cases to dispose of afterwards so they are perfect for a picnic or a party!
I cannot not choose a fav and I am always buying her books for gifts! I even went a step further to share Donna Hay with the rest of the world by donating my old magazines to the local library!
Donna Hay has the MOSt awesome food porn, too. Love her cookbooks and magazines!
One of my fave Donna Hay recipe was this blood orange tart!

Lamington slice! Yum busybbee05(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au
ooh those bags are cute!
My favourite recipe is from the Modern Classics dessert book. She calls it Malted Chocolate Pudding, probably cause she doesn’t want to get sued, but in my house it’s known as Milo Pudding and it is delish!
You may think that Bruschetta is Bruschetta, but I love the Donna Hay way
Donna Hays’ Basic Bruschetta Recipe
Cut 1 loaf sourdough bread into 12 slices
Brush with olive oil and cook on a preheated char-grill (broiler) pan for 2 minutes each side or until golden.
Makes 12.
The mini spinach pies. Delicious and they look great too
What perfect bags I wouldnt forget to take this tote bag shopping. They certainly beat those boring supermarket bags hands down.
Thanks for the fantastic opportunity
Regards
Linda
My favourite donna Hay recipe is the CHOCOLATE CARAMEL TART. I even made it today for dessert for a BBQ lunch I had and of course had to write the recipe out for a couple of friends. I did tell them they need to get the magazine always great recipes
Such lovely bags, orange is MY colour. My current favourite Donna Hay recipe is from one of her magazines last year – mint flat bread with green onion pesto – all my favourite flavours for spring in one recipe!
My fave Donna Hay recipe that I’ve tried so far is from the last DH Celebrate magazine – spaghetti and prawns with garlic, chilli, basil and lemon. Yum!
I love spicy food, especially green curry. Donna Hay’s Green Curry Chicken with Sweet Potato is my absolute favourite. It’s one of the recipes from the Asian Food chapter of “Donna Hay: Off the Shelf: Cooking From the Pantry”. I found this recipe by chance one lazy Saturday afternoon looking for some foodies idea, cooked it and served the dish for my friends and family for dinner. I got 2 thumbs up from everyone, even my husband who is not usually a fan of my cooking, became an instant fan! Note: if you’re looking to beat the winter chill, this is the dish for you.
Here’s the recipe – enjoy!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: about 40 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and diced (1/2 inch)
3 Tbsp peanut oil, divided
2 Tbsp Thai green curry paste
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 6 oz. each
1 cup chicken stock or broth
1 cup coconut milk
4 kaffir lime leaves, whole or finely shredded (see note above)
1/3 cup cilantro, chopped
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the sweet potato dice in a baking dish and toss with 2 Tbsp peanut oil. Bake until soft and golden, about 30 to 35 minutes.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the curry paste and 1 Tbsp peanut oil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the chicken and cook for 1 minute per side. Add the chicken stock, coconut milk, and lime leaves. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat until chicken is cooked through, about 20 minutes.
To serve, place sweet potato dice on top of a bed of steamed jasmine rice. Place chicken atop the potatoes, then spoon on curry sauce and sprinkle with cilantro.
Lemon and Parsley Chicken. Yummy!
Flourless chocolate cake – perfect for my friend who is gluten free – always works and everyone loves it!
Flourless chocolate cake whenever i’m ravenous again…
mmm her lemon tart!
Hard to pick just one favourite, but I’ll go with the lemon and parmesan risotto from modern classics 1. Baked custard and mud cake would be my next picks.
how can it possibly be narrowed down to just one? i refuse to do it, so i’ll vaguely say that i delight in any of her chocolate recipes. mmmkay?
Oh gosh, there are heaps! But my all time fave Donna recipe is her apple blueberry crumble recipe in Modern Classics 2. It is just fantastic!
Those totes look so fetching!
You come up with the best stuff Lorraine…coz u really are the best. Love those gorgeous mince pies=YUM!! I love Donna Hays double chocolate chip cookies a ot, & do love her chicken pasta combinations too.
To tell the truth, I have never heard of Donna Hay, but thanks to you I just discovered her site and her fabulous recipes. I will definitely be trying the Ricotta Hotcakes with Maple Butter (who thought I’d go chocolate?).
white chocolate mousse with cocoa snaps are my latest fad
I mean, white chocolate mousse! Can it get any better?
Ooohhhh this is just soo exciting. An internation contest!!! *clap hands in glee* I find that Donna Hay baking recipes works best for me. I can try several different version of a pie but when I follow her recipe, it turns out the best. I’ve only tried the most common – Lemon Meringue Pie and Profiteroles. And I’ve made it alot since and if I make alot of it.. then yeah! it’s my favourite!!
Definitely, the lamb shank with tomato and rosemary…
I looovvvveeeee her beef and red wine pie. Such a beautiful dish to eat in winter! It can warm the cockles of anyone’s heart.
Soy-simmered chicken is a beautiful after work dish!
http://anemptystomachisthebestcook.blogspot.com/2008/08/soy-simmered-chicken.html
Hmmm….probably the “Simmered Tomato and Basil Chicken.” Can’t go wrong with that!
Oh without a doubt Donna’s baked veal shanks ….. falling of the bone and delish … family favourite ….. love the bag … would make a great beach bag too .
Her baked custard recipe from Modern Classics two, at least I think that’s what it is as the pages keep getting stuck together with sugar and egg (me a messy cook?)Luckily I’ve made it so many times I can remember what the gunk covered ingredients and instructions are. Ahhh…so comforting and simple and delicious.
Love the brownie recipe from Modern Classics #2 but I add a cup of roasted hazelnuts.
tomato and sour cream tarts!
we’re 9 & 7 & our favourite DH recipe is the chicken & sweet potato risotto that mum makes yum, yum, yum
My favourtie Donna Ha recipe is the jersey caramel cookies I posted about some time ago from her column in the Sunday Mail – they are dead easy and very quick to make, but look fancy and taste delicious!
My favourite is a simple banana bread which is out of one of Donna Hays kids annual magazine because it is so moist, its a classic and my little 2.5 year old toddler, Sofia loves to help make it. Watching her lick the spoon is my favourite part…
Definitely the caramel layer cake. Mmmmmmmmm.
My fav recipes are the Blueberry Swirl Cheesecake, a hit with family and friends esp when blueberries are in season. Another popular recipe is the Basic Vanilla Cake from Donna Hay Kids which I use numerous times for birthday cakes for both my children and friends as well.
Spinach, ricotta and dill pies
While I have seen so many of her recipes on various blogs, I have to confess I have never tried any of them yet.
But those tote bags are sure very pretty.:)
Another favourite is this simple recipe from the Winter Magazine in 2008 – Sweet chilli and lime chicken!
http://anemptystomachisthebestcook.blogspot.com/2008/07/sweet-chilli-and-lime-chicken.html
Blueberry muffins… the use of sour cream keeps the them light and moist and the addition of lemon zest keeps it fragant!
Donna is so clever, especially grateful for her dessert recipes with pastries – they are so simple yet the desserts turn out so glamourous!
Hi all
My favourite Donna Hay recipe is the white chocolate mousse with cocoa snaps.
It is absolutely delicious.
The mousse is light and creamy and soft and melts in your mouth.
The cocoa snaps are crisp and crunchy.
You can serve this dessert in a lovely cocktail glass and make a tower over the mousse with the snaps.
Very extravagant looking and so nice.
JJ
the melting moments recipe in the modern classics book. So simple but beautifully buttery and soft
Another favourite recipe of mine is chilli and lemongrass chicken
eggplant fritters with spiced yoghurt – yummmm
My absolute fave receipe is a Chicken and Leek Pot Pie recipe I found in a weekend magazine supplement. I tell all my friends about it and make it as often as possible. It is so quick and easy to make and the aroma is to die for!
Love her chocolate brownies – scrumptios – and the orange tote is a beauty! Would love to have it in my hand.
Rose, Malaysia
Ooh, I adore Donna Hay! My fave recipe is from No Time To Cook, which she autographed for me last year. There is a prawn linguine recipe in it that is so easy to make, delicious and looks beautiful. Personifies everything that is DH, really.
Firstly the orange tote is my fav – we need a pop of colour for this indian spring. Peanut Butter Cookies from the Sunday magazine (The Sunday Telegraph). Whipped a batch up on a Saturday morning,(never made a cookie in my life) and had them in a jar within the hour. Friends came by for lunch, and they asked if I had been baking cookies and if they could have some, as the smell was amazing. I proudly produced two gift bags of cookies, gone down a treat.
Those goblin pies are so cute – must show those to my family in the States. Treat to Treat !
parmesan french toast with wilted garlic spinach!
garlic and spinach plus parmesan is just a heavenly combination ^^
One of my favourite Donna Hay recipes is Burnt Vanilla Creams, p. 168 Off the shelf
Rasberry spiked chocolate brownies- yum!!
http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Raspberry-Spiked-Chocolate-Brownies-240506
Oh… this one is sooo easy! The Donna Hay Modern Classic 2 is always open on my kitchen bench and the butter cake recipe page is covered with old butter, sugar and vanilla. Truely my favourite..
Please can I have a sweet and a savoury choice….?
Sweet:
Gotta say the brownies ….The chocolate and raspberry version featured in the latest “Kids” mag. LOVE!
Savoury:
It’s an oldie but a goody – pumpkin gnocchi with sage butter. Delish!
Hubby is famous for his very fussy eating but after I introduced him to Donna’s Chicken and Chorizo Pealla recipe from her Simply Chicken cookbook life got so much easier! This gets made every week in our house now and means I don;t even need to look at the book anymore!
Mmmm her banana cinnamon breads receipe!
New to Donna Hay, but her chocolate recipes looks great!
I’ve never tried any of Donna Hay’s recipes…but I love looking at the cook books whenever I’m in the David Jones (Market St) food court!

http://anemptystomachisthebestcook.blogspot.com/2008/08/smoky-grilled-chicken-and-crispy-fennel.html
Ohhhh Donna, Ooohhhh Donna
Do you remember me
Like I remember youuuuu
la la laaaa
Well I used to have all of Donna’s books but I simplified my life and moved to Thailand. Now I just have a love affair with her website (and NQN of course). My favourite has to be crispy spiced thai chicken, it’s soooo great when you pour a icy cold Chang into a chilled glass, pop some chicken into the dipping sauce and savour! Life can’t get better!!!!! and my Thai friends things it’s aloy maaaaa (very yummy). Everyone wins.
My favourite Donna Hay recipe is definitely her cupcake recipe from Modern Classics 2. The recipe is actually for raspberry cream cupcakes, but I skip the raspberry bit and just make a stock standard cupcake.
This is a no fail recipe for me and so much lighter and more moist than any other cupcake recipe I have tried.
I loooooooove the Chocolate Freckle Cake on p126 of the Kid’s Issue no 3. Playful take on a yummy and divine cake.
You are so accomplished, exquisite. Happy two. My blog is broken, so I’m searching software and praying for the right fix so I can get to two too!
My favourite Donna Hay recipe is the Melting Moments from ‘Modern Classics Book 2′. The biscuits were buttery, soft and wonderfully melty, the icing just tart enough from the lemon to balance out the sweetness. I had an unreasonable amount of fun using the piping bag to make them, which wasn’t dampened when my boyfriend pointed out that they looked like dog poos.
I live in the UK and always have to buy Donna Hay books whenever I go back to Melbourne. I always make the brown sugar meingues from “Off the Shelf” when I have a dinner party.
Chicken and roasted zucchini fettuccine
My favourite Donna Recipe is from the second kid’s annual- chicken soup with chicken and corn wantons- absolute comfort food for me and my cherubs!
I’ve never ever tried a Donna Hay recipe, but I’m intrigued to try some now!! An amazing giveaway!
P.S – Who won the silicone bug mould? I didnt see any announcement for it, and I really wanted it
I love Donna Hay recipes for their ease and the fact that most ingredients are already in your pantry or easy enough to find. My all time favourite though would have to be the Basic and Speedy Brownies (P160, Off the shelf). These are often made in my kitchen and so easy for littlies to make as well. Was only just looking at Off the shelf tonight thinking I would make brownies for the weeks treats!!
Off the Shelf is one of my fave cookbooks..so many recipes to offer up..Orange and Almond Dessert Cake, Chickpea and Roast Pumpkin Soup, Baked Chicken, Lemon and Pea Risotto feature high on my list. Oh and my daughter just reminded me about the Basic and Speedy Brownie…
Donna Hay’s Lasagna recipe is always a winner in my family!
Donna is great. Another one of those rare cooking specialists whose recipes almost always turn out and appear the way they look in the recipe picture. My fav. (and I do have many, but this one caters to my very sweet tooth) has to be white rum and chocolate truffles. They always look like they took a lot of work and they make great gifts (to friends and family, as well as to me). I’d love one of her tote bags. It would almost make up for the fact that I can’t just go and browse and hang out at her store in Sydney. Thanks for thinking of us international folks! Anne
My favourite recipe is lamb shanks with tomato and rosemary. A classic that never fails. The recipe is a bulletproof success at every winter dinner I hosted
My favourite recipe of hers would have to be the Pistachio and cranberry nougat that featured on the cover of Celebrate 2003 issue. My eyes fixated on the delicious cover and I had to buy the magazine..I was so inspired I made it for my family that xmas. Being of italian origin, nougat (torrone), is a popular sweet in my family. Needless to say everyone adored it!
My favourite Donna Hay inspiration isn’t a recipe but came from an wedding edition of her magazine many years ago.
Having a cocktail party wedding.
Our wedding was a relaxed and joyous celebration. Exactly the day we wanted – thanks to Donna.
right, this is like having to choose which of your children you like better… i think my 2nd child (just joshing!!). For the sake of this competition, i’ll force myself to pick Steak with Mushrooms and balsamic glaze from The Instant Cook. And the bag…well, it certainly would improve my mood to go food shopping plus divert people’s gaze from the trakky daks!
As the mother of two young boys, I love the fact that Donna Hay is in touch with reality and the time constraints of families who want to eat interesting meals, but don’t have all day to prepare them.
I have two favourites for kids birthday parties, out of the 2006 Kids Issue (very dog eared!). One is the chocolate freckle cake – which you ice and then roll the sides in 100s and 1000s for a spectacular and simple creation. The other is DIY slime – green goop that my 5 year old and his mates had enormous fun playing with at his birthday party this year.
ohhh, my favourite would have to be the blueberry swirl cheesecake. all my friends LOVE it.
‘Basic Tomato Sauce’ – it really is the simplest thing to make, and so delicious & versatile. I use it as a base for so many other recipes, it’s just too good
Chocolate-dipped shortbread: my tastebuds & tummy come alive when I make these…shame my hips & thighs don’t too
Smoked salmon and caper spaghetti; nothing is better than this. It’s my never fail crowd pleaser & secret recipe to success. Sorry Donna, I take all the glory & never admit it’s your recipe!!!
I LOVE THE ‘WHITE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE WITH COCOA SNAPS. I’M A SUCKER FOR DESSERT AND CHOCOLATE IS MY NUMBER ONE WEAKNESS.
ricotta hotcakes with maple butter. A plate of fluffy delicious!
I have lots of favourites! I’d say my favourite of my favourites is the Flourless Chocolate Cake because then my sister can join in and eat it too as she can’t eat gluten and misses out on lots of yummy things.
Chicken and roasted zucchini fettuccine- my first time using zucchini and Ricotta. I never knew Ricotta can taste so good.
Turkey with apple-and-caramelised-onion stuffing
I used the Donna Hay recipe for my first attempt at preparing Turkey for Thanksgiving. The result is amazing. Seriously easy and fantastic. Cannot wait for the next Thanksgiving to other Turkey recipes.
Donna Hay’s Roast Pork Loin.
The result looks harder than the process
Donna’s Lemon Meringue Pie is a family favourite. Easy and Yummy and the kids love to help prepare and eat it! We think up silly occasions to make it… we love it….
I adore Donna’s scones recipe, delicious.
Donna Hay’s roasted cauliflower, sage and almond risotto pleases the vegetarians in the house-and the meat eaters too. Only downside? Never any leftovers!
We have a long time favourite in our house…its a great, hearty dish for large groups (also good for just the four of us) and is always a winner. I cant remember the name of it but its basically Osso Bucco Pasta…you cook the veal as you would any deliciously divine osso bucco dish..long and slow, flake it all up, poke out the mouthwatering marrow and toss it through parpadelle with baby spinach…top it with a little gremolata (thats my addition…not Donnas) and heaps of good shaved parmesan and serve in a big bowl on the table with crusty italian bread! It looks amazing, can feed a huge crowd for a good price and is so, so simple.
It is so good that one of my girlfriends borrowed the recipe once to impress a new boyfriend! He is now her husband and soon to be father of her first child. What more can i say!
My favorite is a wonderful fig and walnut rye bread. Just perfect with a cheese platter for special guests or toasted at breakfast spread with ricotta…think I will start baking.
I recently rediscovered Donna Hay after her visit to Master Chef. I dug out my cookbooks and have been baking muffins and cakes every week. My kids love it.
Gingerbread christmas baubles, they make great gifts and are yum!
Mine would be the brownies… yum!
Cheat’s Chorizo Paella from the Winter 2008 magazine was awesome. It feeds us for a week after we make it, too!
http://anemptystomachisthebestcook.blogspot.com/2008/07/cheats-chorizo-paella.html
Who can forget the classic grilled cheese sandwich from Modern Classics 1? Best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had.
http://anemptystomachisthebestcook.blogspot.com/2008/07/grilled-cheese-sandwich.html
I love this competition! I have spent so much time reading through everyone’s favourite recipes and now I’ve picked up a few new favourites. It’s so cool.
My favorite receipe is from Donna’s No time to cook, cook book. Its a Ricotta and Cherry tomato tart which presents very well, is super easy to make and is delicious! Thanks Donna!
my favourite recipe from donna hay is lemon cheesecake..
The Chocolate Caramel Slice is a hit with me. I love this slice at the best of times (looking in any bakery I pass) but the Donna Hay recipe is just delicious.

Cream cheese brownies in the modern classics book
‘No time to cook

her Rasberry semifreddos
Icycold and yum!
The biscuits from the chocolate and oat s’mores recipe are the most awesome biscuits. I don’t bother with the marshmallow chocolate filling, I just make the biscuits!
I cannot pick just one recipe, we use her recipes all the time or at least very often and they have all been winners!
It’s so hard to choose. I love all of them. Anything that involves chocolate is on my
‘to-eat’ list. Choc chip cookies, choc mud cake…
Yummo!
I’m hungry for more, more, more!
I absolutely love her chocolate melt and mix cake that was featured in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Living a few years ago. I make it so often I don’t need the recipe anymore. Its easy and tasty, my favourite combination.
Jenly, thanks for posting the Green Curry Chicken with Sweet Potato recipe. Just cooked it today with my boyfriend in our new kitchen and it’s an absolute blast! Yum
My housemate makes an awesome casserole with chicken, mushroom and tarragon. I’ve forgotten the name of the dish but it is from her favourite Donna Hay cookbook and it is my all time favourite dish!
chocolate mud cake. there are times when a girl really needs donna hays chocolate mud cake — especially with four kids in the house!!!!
My favourite Donna Hay recipe is fruit mince pies from her Christmas book. They are very simple to make and yet look like you’ve spent hours slaving in the kitchen. They also happen to be delicious(you’ll never eat shop bought tarts again.)
The fruit mince filling keeps in the fridge for more than a week.In preparation for surprise guests around December, I like to keep a batch in the fridge, then if I’ve got puff pastry in the freezer, I can have the tarts on the table in less than 1/2 an hour. Great for that domestic goddess feeling.
Just love Donna’s “pumpkin, onion and blue cheese frittata” from her book ‘The Instant Cook . Always have the ingredients on hand. Can whip it up from memory and share it with friends for a light lunch. Ther’re always impressed.
Macaroon pastry cases filled with the chocolate tart filling, both from modern classics 2. These bite-sized morsels are always a party favourite. yum yum!
I love the delicious desserts that she has created! But best of all I adore her classic chocolate mud cake, which you can never go wrong with!
Donna Hay cupcakes are melt-in-the-mouth and no fail. My sister has requested them for her baby shower
I had a choc brownie / cake at a friends house and asked for her recipe – it was the donna hay choc cake made in a brownie pan. I love it and it has become a great regular dessert!
