Find out what life is like in the Sofitel Darling Harbour club rooms and see what perks are available for these rooms (including a delightful turndown service). We also experience their new "Please Disturb" room service offering with croissants and coffee delivered for breakfast designed especially for in house guests.
It has been quite a few years since the last time I stayed at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. In that time I've been here many times for the food at Atelier or to the champagne bar. But it's nice to see how the hotel we first stayed at during its opening week has changed. And the latest change is their new "Please Disturb" croissant and coffee collaboration for in room guests.
On our last stay, we stayed in a Junior suite on the 27th floor. This time we are in a Club Corner King Room on the 34th floor. Mr NQN and I head to Club Millésime on the 35th floor for a private check in. We sip glasses of Moet during the check in process.
Access to the club is reserved for Accor Live Limitless Platinum, Diamond and Limitless members as well as guests booked into club rooms. It includes breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapes and drinks or Apero Chic. Guests also have 1 hour complimentary usageof the boardroom, complimentary clothes pressing and shower facilities.
Much has been made of the rooms here particularly by those that are fans of baths. The freestanding bathtubs look out onto the expansive view of Darling Harbour, Sydney city and beyond.
Pull back the curtains to enjoy the view with floor to ceiling windows. This hotel was designed to make the most of its city Darling Harbour location. In the distance planes glide through the bright blue sky.
Our king bed is comfortable with smooth sheets and there are a good size bedside tables. A pillow menu is also available and there are also ear plugs and a sleep mask available along with 8 types of pillows. I call downstairs to order a low profile pillow and this arrives within less than 5 minutes.
There's also a desk and cupboards with fluffy robes and slippers. A large sliding door separates the bathroom from the bedroom for privacy. I'm sure everybody eyes go straight to the bathroom and that gorgeous bath tub with a spacious marble sink, Diptyque toiletries and a detailed amenity kit. There's a coffee machine and TWG teas are provided along with still water. The shower and toilet are hidden away discreetly.
Once settled in, Mr NQN and I head to the Le Rivage pool on level 4 for a quick swim and time in the sauna before dinner. The infinity pool has views of the city. This is also the floor that the spa is located on.
After the pool we change and head to dinner. Tonight's dinner is back at Club Millésime where they serve canape style snacks. Atelier is the hotel's main restaurant on the third floor but tonight it is closed for an event but if you are interested in the food, I have some reviews of Atelier here and here.
Millésime is a French term that means "vintage" or "a great year" and the design of the lounge has a large underside of a barrel above. Club Millésime has a drinks menu including a range of signature cocktails. This is where breakfast, afternoon tea nad Apero Chic cocktail hour is served.
We start with an Imperial Blend 35 with cocoa infused Bacardi, caramel syrup and lemon juice for Mr NQN while I order a non alcoholic Indigo Whisper with Lyre's butterfly pea infused non alcoholic gin, blue Curacao syrup, raspberry cordial, lemon juice and Sprite.
There are warm snacks like barramundi fish pies, vegetable quiches and beef skewers as well as a range of charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, smoked salmon blinis, beetroot tarts, olives and salads. We get a bit of everything to try and it's all very good especially the beef skewers, blinis and pate. We go back for seconds of salad, dried fruit and cheese.
After our repast we head back to our room where turndown has been performed. This isn't any regular sort of turndown. The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour has a special turndown for club room and suite guests where all the curtains and blinds are drawn and they have set out candles (LED for safety!) all over the room from the bathroom to beside the bed.
They've also set out Chamomile teas, a lavender pillow mist and the most comfortable hotel slippers. There's also a speaker by Devialet, a French acoustics company ready to stream your favourite music from your phone. It's such a lovely way to switch into sleep mode. We run a bath and enjoy the ambience of the room with music playing.
After a good night's sleep, we get a knock on the door at 10am. It's our "Please disturb" breakfast. Guests can choose from a menu of three Nespresso coffees and three croissants from Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour's La Haute Croissanterie which can be ordered as a drink croissant pair or separately at $9 each. The croissant and drink pairings are $15 each and each order attracts an $8 tray fee. This is available from now until the 26th of November 2026 from 6am until 11pm.
We are trying all three (research!) and the lovely woman delivering the trolley explains each one and then sprays two drinks with fragrant orange blossom water. The first is tried in the bath as I am getting ready (one of the perks of room service).
The Le Tonique is an iced orange espresso tonic paired with a Paris Brest croissant which is a crisp, rich butter croissant with squiggles of hazelnut cream, praline and orange zest that is refreshing and with the distinct flavour of hazelnuts.
Then I try the L'Epice which is an oat milk and dark chocolate ristretto with Sichuan pepper & coffee-choco exotic croissant with coffee cream, passion fruit gel dots and chocolate dots that is for any fruity dark chocolate fans.
My favourite (and it's hard because they're all good) is the Le Brûlé with a decaffeinated Amaretti cappuccino mousse brûlée with almond and orange blossom and a crispy honey cream croissant with honey, almond and orange zest with the distinct flavour and aroma of honey.
So tell me Dear Reader, have you ever booked a club room? Do you think the extra perks are worth it? And which combo would you pick?
NQN and Mr NQN were guests of the Sofitel Darling Harbour but all opinions remain her own.
