I saw this Halloween recipe idea all over Pinterest and I thought that it was brilliant because a) they look grotesque and b) it was a great savoury food option and c) everyone loves dumplings. There's always plenty of sweets at Halloween but often not enough savoury ideas. I actually used my mum's wonton recipe for these but I've given simple instructions for using bought dumplings too as you can certainly use those to great effect. If people complain that they're not home made, you can just say that these were the body parts of the last guests that complained ;)
Body Part Dumplings
An Original Recipe by Lorraine Elliott
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
- 600g/21oz bag of dumplings (won tons are good or anything very folded over looking)
- 2 tablespoons chilli sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chilli oil
- 1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
Step 1 - Cook the dumplings in a large pot with plenty of boiling water until they rise to the surface.
Step 2 - Meanwhile mix the chilli sauce with both soy sauces and chilli oil in a large bowl that can fit all of the dumplings. Remove the dumplings from the pot with a slotted spoon and place in the bowl with the chilli sauce and mix together so that the dumplings are totally coated.
