It's pear season and I've got 5 creative ways to cook pears for dessert! There are roasted pears with streusel, self saucing caramel pears, spiced red wine poached pears, toffee blossom pears and golden caramelised pears. Dessert is sorted!
1 - Easy Baked Pears with Streusel
I love this recipe because it's more than just baked pears but it's not that much harder. Halved pears are topped with streusel then baked to perfection!
2 - Oven Roasted Self Saucing Caramel Pears
This is a magical pear recipe where you get this gorgeous caramel sauce with the pears. I love using beurre bosc pears for this recipe. This is perfect with some ice cream.
3 - Spiced Red Wine Poached Pears
Truly nothing says winter more than red wine poached pears. There's something about the rubied glaze and how the pears take on the colour from the red wine. I use some cinnamon sticks as well as lemon and orange zests so that the pears almost take on a Christmassy flavour!
4 - Toffee Blossom Pears
Ok these are not strictly baked or roasted pears but they are pears zhushed up with toffee! Because apples are not the only fruit that you can coat in a crunchy toffee!
5 - Golden Caramelised Pears
I love these gorgeously golden caramelised pears. They're made with a sauce that includes dessert wine and are cooked in the pan that the sauce is made in. Nothing could be simpler for a delicious, warming dessert.
So tell me Dear Reader, which recipe would you like to eat?
And if you're looking for a savoury bake this weekend, give my Longganisa sausage rolls a try. These sweet, garlicky sausage rolls are divine (seriously, they come with a warning that you may eat three in a row!) and the recipe is on my Substack!
