Blood oranges are a late winter citrus delight. Their vibrant crimson hue makes them perfect for brightening seasonal dishes, to add to salads or to give desserts a beautiful hue. Try my famous Upside Down Blood Orange Cake, Chicken With Blood Oranges or just a simple but striking Blood Orange Syrup. You can probably tell how much I look forward to blood orange season every year :)
It's spring time and that means warmer weather, picnics, blood oranges, coconut and cake (although cake features in all seasons)! This moist carrot and blood orange cake is everything that I love in a cake. It has some of my favourite ingredients: coconut, blood orange, spices and cream cheese frosting plus the goodness of carrot to keep the texture super moist! I called her Amaryllis.
