I don't know anyone that doesn't love a spring roll and these are popular during Chinese New Year as the golden colour symbolises wealth as they look like gold bars. This is my mother's spring roll recipe that we adore so very much at home.

Eating uncut noodles are said to be essential for long life luck. These noodles are the perfect thing to make for Chinese new year. For starters you want to eat noodles that are as long as possible and these are as long as a belt and you do not cut them-they're served as one whole long noodle! They're also so deliciously chewy and unique and easily made vegan or you can add pork too for extra luck.

3 - Whole Fish Asian Style

Whole fish is a good luck dish at Chinese new year as a whole fish symbolises wholeness or togetherness. Not everyone has a large steamer so I created this Asian style whole roasted fish to make in the oven. We used barramundi but you can use snapper, coral trout or Murray cod to make this delicious fish that takes 5 minutes prep and 20 minutes to steam!

4 - Chinese Stir Fried Pork

Pork is seen as a symbol of good luck as pigs root forward and not backwards. This pork stir fry is such an easy recipe and here I'll show you how to velvet pork in the same way that your favourite Chinese restaurant velvets chicken or beef! With a super tasty stir fry marinade this is great for a lunar new year banquet.

5 - Pineapple tarts

In Singapore, the word for pineapple is Ong Lai in Hokkien which sounds like "prosperity is here". Also anything golden will make life golden during Chinese New Year and if one of the most beloved snacks are the pineapple tarts made with a homemade pineapple jam and a delicious buttery base!

So tell me Dear Reader, do you cook anything special for Chinese New Year and if so, which one would you pick of these?
