We check into the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific, the largest hotel on the Central Coast with 199 rooms and suites. The hotel has also undergone a large refurbishment on the outside and within the hotel over the last few years that has spruced up the hotel that sits in prime position right along Terrigal Beach. Find out which rooms to choose when staying at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific.
Location
Located 90 minutes north of Sydney, the Central Coast is an easy drive for a weekend away. Terrigal is located in the middle of the Central Coast region. The hotel is located along Terrigal beach and is right in the middle of Terrigal with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars surrounding it including favourites like Que Sera just around the corner.
You can also take the Terrigal boardwalk, a 227-metre timber walkway along the beach or relax on the beach. Crowds are currently gathered to watch 18-month-old Terry/Terri the young male Subantarctic fur seal resting on the rocks who has captured locals and visitors' attention.
The Hotel
The Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific was built in 1988 and has Art Deco elements that were kept during its recent refurbishments with enormous arched windows facing the beach so that guests always have a view of the water. This is blended with whitewashed beachfront coastal architecture.
There are 7 floors at this hotel with 5 floors for guest rooms (level 2 to 7) while the Meribella and SeaSalt restaurants, spa, outdoor pool and gym are located on the first floor. There is also valet parking and self parking under the hotel. There are also around a dozen businesses around the outside of the hotel including the hotel's beer garden Terrigal Beach House that first opened in 1957 as Hotel Florida. We arrive at 2pm and slip in just before the queues form for check in.
The Room
Our room 503 is a Pool View room and is one of the refurbished rooms. There's a comfortable king bed, a large TV as well as a three-person couch and a comfy chair and coffee tables. This room leads out to a balcony where there's a view of the pool down below. The balcony has chairs and a table for guests to enjoy the beach and pool view. This very much reminds me of the large Hawaiian hotels along Waikiki Beach.
The bathroom is spacious with a bath combination and a large sink with plenty of storage space. It is stocked with Grown Apothecary products. One thing to note is that the water pressure is noticeably quite low so it is not ideal for washing hair and this also impacts how long it takes to fill the tub too.
Tip: For a quieter, more relaxing stay choose your rooms carefully. The layout of the hotel is such that if you do have one of these balcony rooms facing the pool the live music does carry and on Saturday night it goes until about midnight so if you have concerns about that you can be moved to another room. Also the noise from the kids at the pool starts quite early in the morning.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at SeaSalt restaurant on the first floor right next to Meribella and during peak times guests are also seated in Meribella. And on weekends the breakfast finishes at 11am which makes us very happy.
The buffet breakfast here is a really nice surprise. I was happy to see barista coffee included and an egg station where you can order custom omelettes and eggs benedict included too. My eggs benedict with smoked salmon was excellent with a perfectly runny yolk, creamy hollandaise and a good amount of smoked salmon. I also helped myself to some crispy hash browns, more smoked salmon and smashed avocado.
Mr NQN enjoys fruit salad, bircher muesli and a maple pecan pastry and donut.
For my review of the restaurant Meribella see here.
So tell me Dear Reader, would you want a room in the middle of the action or one that is at a quieter location? Is a late breakfast important to you when you're on a weekend getaway?
NQN and Mr NQN stayed as guests of the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific but all opinions remain my own.
