Pineapple Slushie Splice

This pineapple splice slushie is inspired by the classic Australian Splice ice cream with pineapple and lime with an ice cream centre. Made with just four ingredients and water this easy summer slushie recipe can be made in a slushie machine, blender or Thermomix. Perfect for cooling down on hot summer days, parties and backyard entertaining!

About This Pineapple Slushie Splice Recipe

Pineapple Splice is a classic Australian ice cream made with pineapple and lime on the outside and a centre of vanilla ice cream. But do you know it is super easy to recreate at home as a drink using a slushie machine or in a blender?

All you need are four ingredients plus water and I promise that this will taste just like the ice cream! Cool off in the most delicious way this Summer with this Splice Slushie.

And if you don't have a slushie machine, I'll also show you how to make this in a blender or Thermomix.

Which Slushie Machine?

For this slushie I used a Beko slushie machine, the newest one in the market in Australia that launched at the end of 2025. It is very similar to the Ninja slushie but the Beko has a comprehensive automatic 10 minute cleaning function that cleans the machine really well. It also has a slightly lower RRP than the Ninja. Both machines look almost identical.

The only feedback would be that the instructions need more detail especially for first time slushie machine owners and the buttons on the front detailing the different types of slushies to make aren't as clear and are not explained in the instructions. Also the pouring spout is smaller so the slushie doesn't flow out as easily.

Ingredients For Pineapple Slushie Splice

Pineapple Slushie Splice

Cottees Pine Lime Cordial - This cordial is almost just like a Splice but is stronger in pineapple than a Splice so we need to balance it.

Simple syrup - If you're planning on making slushies I recommend having some simple syrup to hand. You can buy simple syrup at bottle shops. It is also incredibly easy to make (see recipe below).

Lime juice - Fresh or bottled lime juice works here.

Cream - Thickened or pure cream to mimic the ice cream part. We also love this with coconut milk or cream and it makes it dairy free and vegan this way!

Tips For Making Pineapple Slushie Splice

Pineapple Slushie Splice

1 - If you're a newbie to slushie making this is an easy one to start with. Slushies with lots of cream, alcohol or low sugar are often the most difficult to get just right.

2 - Watch the slushie after 10 minutes. It will start to really come together within 10-12 minutes. After which you'll add the cream and a few minutes later it will be ready!

3 - Add a shot of Malibu rum to this to make it a spiked slushie. Stir it into the cup right at the end.

4 - This recipe is easily doubled or tripled for a party. Just allow for extra time for the slushie to build.

I love slushies in summer and if you do too try my lychee and mint slushie or my limonana mint and lemon slushie next!

Step 2 CREAM - Pour the cream through the opening and churn until desired slushie in texture (around 2-5 minutes).

To make this splice slushie in a high speed blender or Thermomix, use 150g/5ozs water and 350g/12.3ozs crushed ice instead of 500g/17.6ozs of water. Add in cordial, simple syrup, lime juice and cream and blend together until smooth. Thermomix: set to 20 seconds, speed #9. Scrape down and repeat if needed.

Simple Syrup Recipe

To make quick simple syrup, dissolve 250g/8.8ozs of sugar in 250g/8.8ozs boiling with a whisk. The water will go cloudy for a second and then clear. Or in the Thermomix set to 5 minutes, 100C speed 2. Chill and store in the fridge for up to 1 month.

Personal Note

Mr NQN loved it when I was testing this slushie recipe out because he would be the recipient of all of the slushies which he happily slurped down. I think he was the happiest man alive during that week.

But if you're married to me then it's not all just endless slurpies. There is also a dark side. I am also the person who will call you to see if you're alive. Sometimes I will check on everyone's breathing when asleep. I am also constantly sending Mr NQN memes and reels about sepsis because I am petrified of catching it. He often jokes with me that my slogan is, "Wound care is very important!" and that it will go on my gravetstone because of the number of times that I say it.

So I feel like at least providing slurpees gives them an upside to being in my family!

So tell me Dear Reader, do you like slushies? What is your favourite flavour?
