Tasmania is where food always seems to arrive with a trail behind it. Around Hobart, Launceston, Bruny Island and the east coast, I found the pleasure was often in seeing how close everything felt to its source: market stalls, producers, cold air, good restaurants and meals where the farm, sea or vineyard never seemed very far away.

I take eating quite seriously. What I mean by that is that should you ever try and skip a meal past me there will be howls of protestation and anxious pawing. There will be a severe loss of concentration and my mind will wander. I may even look at you like you might be a tasty morsel to eat.
